Firefox won't load my pages without freezing. FF3 never did that

Whenever I go onto the internet to visit any site, FF4 won't load the pages without freezing. I thought it was my internet, but then I downgraded back to FF3 and it worked just fine. For some reason it is only FF4. Internet Explorer works fine too, though I would prefer firefox.

Hi iAmBacon,
Have you tried starting Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]? It sounds like there might an addon or extension that is causing some problems. If it works in Safe Mode, then follow the instructions in the [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting-extensions-themes Extensions and Themes troubleshooting article]. It will show you how to enable them one by one until you find the culprit. Hopefully this helps!

  • Firefox won't load web pages all the way, what can I do to fix this

I have this problem where firefox won't load any webpages all the way and if I try refreshing the page it shows some of the webpage but not the whole thing....and now it won't load any images either. I have tried everything that i could think of and nothing works. I can't watch anything on youtube or go on facebook and google won't work either.

There seems to be something of a pattern in that those are all secure sites (HTTPS address). Have you noticed any certificate errors recently that you might have solved by adding an exception, or does everything seem normal otherwise?
    Here are the usual things:
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
    (2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
In case one of your extensions is involved, could you test the page in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
    * "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run
After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset).
    Any difference?

  • Firefox won't load any pages on SmartQ T10 but will find addons and sync. Why?

Pretty much as the title says, it installed fine, displays the startup page but won't load anything remotely except add-ons and sync data. Every other browser and inet app works fine on the device, including opera and the defaul browser, gmail etc, only Firefox doesn't work.

Not a reply but an update to my first posting. The problem fixed itself after about a month or so. Everything just returned to normal and Firefox worked again. Unfortunately the story continues. After a couple weeks of working the symptoms reoccurred and I was again without the use of Firefox. Pause - - - - but the story continues. I got fed up as I was writing this very update and I tried again for the countless time to find a solution. And the good news is I did and Firefox is again working. It turns out that I had always checked the MS Windows firewall which reflected that Firefox had access to the web. I never thought to check my antivirus program suite. It of course also has a firewall through which Firefox was for some reason not allowed. Once I gave Firefox access the problem was solved. I don't know why I had never thought of this. I am embarrassed to admit it but I hope this may help others.

  • Firefox won't load any pages

I've used Firefox on my laptop for a number of years without issue. I've routinely updated the program when notified of upgrades (current version is 3.6.11, can't exactly remember when I updated). I use my laptop both at home (cable broadband) and at school (wireless network). A few days ago I had the browser open when I took the laptop to school. I believe everything was fine when I first booted up the system but I might be misremembering and it may have occurred as soon as awoke the laptop. The browser was locked up so I closed it expecting an easy restart. When I restarted the browser it wouldn't to load any of the multiple pages I had previously opened. I confirmed internet access with Outlook and IE. I have un-installed and reinstalled Firefox two or three times and it still fails to load whatever page I throw at it (NYT, WaPo, Google, etc). I know I have internet access. I went through the process of checking the Firewall and added Firefox to the list. Why it wan't there already I don't know. I am using Chrome as an interim browser and it isn't on the list (?) I am unsure of other info I found when looking over the firewall settings so I may have a bigger problem than just Firefox loading pages. Your help is appreciated.

  • Firefox won't load https pages; gives security warning and won't accept an exception.

I've been having issues with Firefox and certain sites for about a year, and it's localized to my personal laptop. I have no issues when using my desktop at work or my dad's laptop at his house. Certain sites will simply return a text-style page; no html. Other sites give me a security certificate warning and FF won't accept an exception for that site, either by clicking on the button or manually entering the site as an exception. Tonight, GOOGLE won't even load! Why it's trying to load on an https server, I don't know, however. Several other sites have also started not loading and are also trying to load to a secure server.

Also make sure that you have updated to the latest Firefox 33.1.1 release.

  • Firefox won't load any pages at all! I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program, but no luck. My IE works, but I much prefer Firefox! Help?

Early this morning, my firefox was working perfectly fine. Yet this evening, it won't load any web pages - only IE will. (I hate IE, much prefer FF!)
I tried to uninstall then reinstall firefox, but it didn't help at all. I've tried tons of different sites, but nothing is coming up.
    What do I do?

    ** FIXED **
I had this problem where I work but it was fine on my home pc. When Firefox upgraded, it detected a proxy on my work network and started to use it even though my previous settings were set to no proxy.
Now all my pages load and my 'find updates' for addons work.

    Relieved.

  • Does anyone know why safari and firefox won't load certain pages

    Hi
I can't get safari and firefox to load certain pages.  For me it's a website programme that i'm using.  I can get into the programme but then certain pages won't load.  This suddenly happened about 3 weeks ago with Safari.  I then loaded Firefox and it worked fine for a few days and now i'm having the same problem and it's the same pages that won't open.  I also have trouble getting other sites to load completely, such as this site.  It's so frustrating as i can't finish building my website and my laptop is only new!
    Help someone, if you can
    Julsea

Hi again and thanks for replying
I can go into their website, cloudaccess and use that properly.  I just can't use my own website properly.  When i say website, my site isn't yet built.  The site i'm trying to access is the backend of joomla.  I can't load it and use some of it but not all of it.
I can access the site through my old laptop (and use it fully) which is a windows one but i can't access it via this one.  I thought it was a cloudaccess problem but seeing as it's only my mac i can't access it through, i'm presuming it's my computer.  I also tried it through firefox and explorer on my windows laptop and it was fine.  It was ok on this laptop until a few weeks ago when it suddenly wouldn't load properly

  • Firefox won't load full pages on websites. I am running Mac OS X. Safari is fine.

I am have a Mac running OS X. It's just two months old. Firefox will not load full webpages... background colors are missing, maps won't load, no columns etc. It started just a few days ago. The only thing I might be able to connect it with is that the other day I opened an email from one of those crazy cheap pharm. sites. I know it could have contained a virus, but I am not sure how that could effect my Mac or what to do about it. I would appreciate any ideas you might have. Thanks.

I'm having exactly the same keyboard issue.  Certainly nothing has ever enhanced my concentration while coding like suddenly becoming unable to type.
I'm seeing a great many devicemgr and rake errors in my system log.  I don't know if they're related.  How 'bout you?
If you're unfamiliar with the system log…
    Open /Applications/Utilities/Console.
If necessary, choose View > Show Log List.
system.log is at the top of the FILES section.
Try searching it for hot words like DEBUG, FATAL, and aborted.
I've found some discussions that would tend to indicate my errors are postGres related – I'm running OS X server.

  • Firefox won't load certain pages

My Firefox browser has not been able to load certain web pages for over a few months now. The web pages that it wont load involve my college information portal website where i have to access my class information, my college email, and various credit card sites and banking sites. I have tried deleting cookies/ emptying the cache, installing multiple plug-ins/add ons and nothing has seemed to work so far. When it attempts to load one of those pages, the screen it just all white and there is no movement of the loading bar or anything of that matter. If anyone can help me solve this problem it would be greatly appreciated.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache.
    * Clear the Cache and
    * Remove Cookies '''''Warning ! ! '' This will log you out of sites you're logged in to.'''
Type '''about:preferences'''<Enter> in the address bar.
    * '''Cookies;''' Select '''Privacy.''' Under '''History,''' select Firefox will '''Use Custom Settings.''' Press the button on the right side called '''Show Cookies.''' Use the search bar to look for the site. Note; There may be more than one entry. Remove '''All''' of them.
    * '''Cache;''' Select '''Advanced > Network.''' Across from '''Cached Web Content,''' Press '''Clear Now.'''
If there is still a problem,
    '''[https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode Start Firefox in Safe Mode]''' {web link}
    While you are in safe mode;
Type '''about:preferences'''<Enter> in the address bar
    Select '''Advanced > General.'''

Poke around safe web sites. Are there any problems?
    Then restart.

  • Firefox won't load any pages/addresses that I click on/type in

When I start Firefox, all of my toolbars and bookmarks are there, but there is only a blank white page, no start page. Also, when I click on a bookmark or try to go to a website, it doesn't work. The blank white page is still there. I've tried clicking the green arrow instead of hitting "Enter", but it still doesn't work. It even happens when I try using the search bar.
I updated the browser to the latest version (11.0, I think) and am still having the same issue.

  • Firefox won't load any pages only says connecting.

It just doesn't work. No firewall blocking is being done, other browsers work.

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
    Check the connection settings.
    *Tools > Options > Advanced : Network : Connection > Settings
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Options+window+-+Advanced+panel
If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then try to select "No Proxy" if the "Use the system proxy settings" setting or one of the others doesn't work properly.
    See "Firefox connection settings":

  • Firefox won't load any pages, including home page

Yesterday, I turned on my computer, Firefox was already open (don't remember what the tabs were) and I kept getting error messages. It wasn't a stop script message, but something similar. I force restarted the computer, because ctrl-alt-del wasn't functioning. When the computer booted up again, I tried to open Firefox, and got a blank grey screen, and nothing else. I restarted again, I uninstalled and reinstalled, I ran a virus scan, and am still only getting the grey screen. IE works, but have no idea how to fix this.

Do you think Firefox might have updated to Firefox 33, which was released on Tuesday?
That release turns out not to be compatible with some older graphics card/chipset drivers, and can result in a solid black or white window; or maybe gray?

  • I cannoy access my Yahoo new mail because Firefox won't load the page completely

When I try to open my yahoo mail (bellsouth.net), the progress bar at the bottom of the screen only fills up about half way. At the top of the screen, the information bar, where it shows all previous page that I have visited, continuously blinks a partial login url for Yahoo mail and never completes the login. I did screw around with some permission settings and unchecked some default settings. This was a link at the top of an advertisement. I right-clicked on "add choices" and navigated to the permissions tab. When I went back to the "ad choices"again, the blocks I previously unchecked were once again checked. However I was not able to sign in to Yahoo Mail because Yahoo would not recognize my password. I can still access my email with internet explorer.

If you are using a bookmarked link then go to the main Yahoo site and navigate from there to the wanted email page.

I found a fix for this, not only firefox but several other networking programs were broken as well (Outlook and IE were ok for some reason) so I reasoned that the Norton uninstall was incomplete somehow - I had done it from the add/remove programs in the control panel. Sure enough that's not enough to release Norton's tentacles in your system, there's an uninstall tool on their website (a whole set of them actually) that managed to carve it out completely and after a restart everything was back to normal. My machines will definitely be Norton-free from now on ... N

  • Firefox doesn't load a page or GIf unless I am moving the mouse

Firefox won't load any page or play a GIF unless I am moving the mouse or typing. I have the latest version of Firefox. It happens every couple of times I use the computer, and the problem keep occuring if I just restart Firefox. Any ideas?

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
