Firefox won't load pages, but other browsers will.

Firefox won't load any internet pages, but different browsers, both Chrome and Explorer work, I havent tried others. I've un-installed, changed the name of the folder of the plug-ins that were left so it wouldn't recognize them, then re-installed nothing happened. I've checeked for viruses, proxies, and i'm pretty sure its not a firewall, I think we only have one and I checked it, plus there is no prompt asking me if I want to allow firefox to access the internet. It won't run in safe mode, so its not any add-ons, clearing the cache didn't do anything either. Its also not in offline mode. What else could it be?

Hello,

• FireFox won't load pages, but IE explorer can.

This happens at random times when I have 2 separate windows open. When I'm trying to load a page, the browser either won't load or it's taking too long to respond to the connection. The only way I can resolve is by closing and open FireFox. But then I have to forcefully close the exe file under task manager(in which I don't like to do in most cases.) or restart my PC and it's really becoming annoying.
Any permanent solutions for this? Thanks in advance.
I'm running Windows XP SP 3 Home Edition with a Dell btw,

• Since firefox 31 my firefox has not been loading pages but other browsers do what is doing on?

I copied and pasted raw data from my firefox:

hello sammboi101, normally such issues are caused by a firewall/security software which doesn't recognize & therefore blocks new firefox versions: [[Fix problems connecting to websites after updating Firefox]]

• Firefox cannot load pages that other browsers can, but the 'help' page for this issue did not fix the problem.

I am troubleshooting an issue occurring on a family member's pc. Immediately after changing their "search" settings from "Yahoo search" to "Google search", they found that Firefox was unable to load any webpages. After troubleshooting the problem, I found the "Firefox can't load websites but other browsers can" help page, and attempted each of the solutions listed. None of those solutions fixed the issue. Also, I uninstalled and re-installed Firefox; the issue persists. However, the 'new' version of Firefox remembered the tabs left open when the 'old' version was deleted, so some temporary files likely persisted.
Are there any other steps that can be taken, or is Firefox on this computer no longer an option?

Start with this;
Type '''about:preferences#advanced'''<Enter> in the address bar.
Under '''Advanced,''' Select '''Network.'''
Look for '''Configure How Firefox Connects''' and press the '''Settings''' button.
Check the settings.
Some problems occurs when your Internet security program was set
to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your
updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow
Firefox to connect to the Internet again;
* Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
* Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see
'''[https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/configure-firewalls-so-firefox-can-access-internet Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet.]''' {web link}
If there is still a problem, go to that computer and do this;
Type '''about:support''' in the address bar and press '''Enter.'''
Under the main banner, press the button; '''Copy Text To Clipboard.'''.
Then in the reply box at the bottom of this page,
do a right click in the box and select '''Paste.'''
This will show us your system details.

• Firefox won't connect to any website, but other browsers will.

When I enter something in the URL bar -- google.com, localhost, http://127.0.0.1/ an IP address, there's a split second flash, then the bar becomes empty again and nothing has happened. It looks like Firefox isn't even trying to connect to the internet.
Yesterday, all was well when I was running FF on Windows 7. After the upgrade to Windows 8 Pro, Firefox failed. I upgraded again to Windows 8.1, hoping for the best, but it's the same problem.
I have walked through the firewall issue, several times (the only one running is Windows' built-in firewall). I eventually uninstalled Firefox, including all my custom settings, and reinstalled from scratch, twice. And even this pure, clean version of Firefox will not connect to the internet.
I'm a computer-literate web developer and would be happy to look at log files, or run some tool (Fiddler?) to see what's happening at a low level, if only I knew where to look.

MM..,
mm... That just about sums up my thought on reading your question. Rather odd this one. I will list some brief ideas and number them to make them easier to refer to or comment on.
Obviously this does not affect all Firefox 27 on Windows 8. It must be something fairly specific to your setup. I have no idea what your problem is and you have tried some of the obvious troubleshooting steps.
Rather a general shotgun approach but the best I can do is suggest this list
# Clean Install
Presumably you will have tried deleting the program path files in order to get a clean install.
[[Troubleshoot and diagnose Firefox problems#w_5-reinstall-firefox]]_5-reinstall-firefox
(See also note about ESR install)
# Firefox SafeMode will also have been tried
[[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]]
Remembering to disable or uninstall plugins, safemode does not do that.
# Try a new clean additional test Profile.
[[Use the Profile Manager to create and remove Firefox profiles#w_creating-a-profile]]_creating-a-profile
#Windows Safe Mode
# Install and try Firefox ESR
http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/
#* As a developer you are probably interested in using that anyhow.
Either a customised install as an additional browser
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Testing_pre-release_versions#Installing_multiple_versions
Or use the unofficial Firefox portable. http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox-portable-esr

• Firefox updated yesterday and now it won't load any webpages. Have reviewed articles on this problem and checked everything. Still won't load. All other browsers work fine.

Have checked firewall and network settings and compared to other computers running firefox. All is ok, but firefox won't load any webpages. This started immediately after it updated yesterday. No error messages.
Have been having problems with updates on serveral of our computers for a month or so. Previous problems have always been that firefox renames a file it needs by adding moz.backup to the file name and I have to search for the file and remove it. This time I'm getting no error messages.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

• After doing a system restore, Firefox won't load pages.

I restored my laptop a couple of days ago (from a previous date, not a full system restore), now firefox will open to the home page (google), but will not load any other page. It doesn't even bring up the "page won't load" page, it just continually says 'connecting' forever. I also noticed, even when I first open firefox, and it opens the google homepage, it doesn't have google.com in the address bar, it has 'about:home'. Internet explorer seems to be working fine, and my internet connection is fine, so I am not sure what the problem seems to be.

hello rlyslowff, one thing you could try is to remove all program rules for firefox from your firewall/security software and let it detect the program again...
please also [https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/ update your plugins] (some of them are out-dated & have security vulnerabilities that are actively exploited on the web).
in case this didn't solve the issue, go to the firefox ''menu ≡ > help ? > troubleshooting information'', copy the contents of that page and paste them here into a reply on the forum, as this might give us further clues what is going on...

• Hi, my firefox wont load websites but other browsers like internet explorer , chrome can . This problem occurs when i use my company's router ?

my company have two internet connection ; 1 is dsl connection , firefox working fine on it ; 2 is my company's own cisco 2911 cisco router with internet connection , firefox wont loading pages except just the homepage of google.com and that's it , and the problem is that whole company is using company's internet connection which means that firefox is death for all of us.
Reseting firefox works but just for one day and after that it stuck again. also tried other solutions like malware removal , re installing firefox etc but not worked
Thanks for any kind of solution

thanks alot for your quick reply fredmcd
i have searched alot on the internet and got the solution , it was a thread known as "l.yimg.com". every time i open a website ,it stucks in "transferring data from l.yimg.com" , so what i did is;
1) End the process "random.exe" from task manager
2) Delete all the history and cookies of the infected browser.
3) Opened Registry Editor and delete these malicious entries:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\ L.yimg.com
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\L.yimg.com \DisplayName L.yimg.com
HKEY_USER\.default\environment\temp
HKEY_USER\s-1-5-18\environment\temp
HKEY_USER\ s-1-5-19\environment\temp and so on
4) Search those malicious files on your hard disk and completely delete all of its components.
%AllUsersProfile%\{random}
%AllUsersProfile%\Application Data\.dll
it really worked for me , if anyone have the same problem then try it , hopefully it will work for you too.

• Firefox won't load some Yahoo sites, yet will load others like My Calendar, etc.

Recently, my Firefox has stopped loading "some" pages for Yahoo. I cannot load for example, My Yahoo Home Page, it just comes up "blank", no error message or anything. This also happens when I try to just load the base Yahoo page. Yet I am able to load my Yahoo Mail Page, as well as my Yahoo Calendar. It also occurs in other sites that I have used as well, so it's not related specifically to Yahoo sites. It also is Crashing when I try to do things as simple as click on the "why keep your Add-Ons updated link in the lower right of this forum help section. This is why I uninstalled it and reinstalled it, as I figured something got messed up to make it unstable.
As I said I have "uninstalled Firefox 4.0 and re-installed it", but yet no change. I also am able to load these various Yahoo sites when I use an different browser. I have also cleared my History and Cache, Cookies, etc, but still nothing has helped.
I need to fix this ASAP, as my home page has things on it that I need, and when I load up my yahoo in Explorer for example, I am missing a lot of my Favorites, Tool Bar Bookmarks, etc. Any help with this would be appreciated.
UPDATE: I just got off a chat session with support, and they suggested I run FireFox in Safe Mode, disable all Add Ons and then add them back one at time if I need them back. I did this, of course, "lost" my Chat Session and the problem described above "STILL" exists. Now I have an even bigger mess, as I have none of my same "look" and feel of my Firefox that I had before. How do I get out of "Safe Mode" now, and get back to the same look I had before? Remember, once I get back to this point, then I still have to deal with the "Original Issue" I once had posted above. Thank you.

Update: This is NOT just related to "Yahoo" pages, while this problem first began with some of my Yahoo pages, it is now also happening with other NON Yahoo things I want to load up. Like Twitter, or Links in emails that load Blank, or even images within emails that show up Blank in the preview part of Yahoo mail. It is NOT a Yahoo issue as I have loaded up my Yahoo Mail in IE and Chrome, and everything loads wonderfully. I can even load up sites like Twitter, and other websites that will NOT load in Firefox, but they come up fine in other Browsers.
I have done the ONLY suggestion that came from Firefox Tech support, to load up FF in Safe Mode, but the problems still exists. I have uninstalled FF and re-loaded it, but the same problem is there.
Does anyone have any ideas here at all? I can't seem to get any Fire Fox help, so I am reaching out to the community here to see if anyone can help.... Thank you !!

• Safari not loading images but other browsers are.

As the title denotes, I'm having this issue with safari that some images are not loading and I only get a blue question mark square. I have seen other forums with this question but it seems that my scenario is a little different, because other browsers like firefox can display images with no problem. Also for example, when I do a google image search only several images get to load while others don't. If I click refresh they finally get loaded but sincerely they take a lot more time to load than on firefox (sometimes refreshing doesn't work either) It might not be such a problem in an image search but on pages like facebook it is quite a hassle.
I don't know what might be causing it, (I don't believe its got to do with my internet connection since firefox has no problems whatsoever.) At first I thought that maybe an update might do the trick so I installed Safari 4 Beta which gave me only a slight better loading of the images.
Now to help see my case I've got some points to say in advance:
1) I don't think it is webpage specific but I frequently see it in google image search and facebook
2) I am using mac OS X 10.5.6
3) Every time an image doesn't load, the activity window says "can't find host"
4) As said above, I'm using Safari 4 Beta. But still I had this problem with the previous Safari

Hello,
We also have a problem with Safari only partially loading pages, or not loading them at all (a blank page is displayed). It happens intermittently, and affects some websites more than others.
It's definitely not an Internet issue as all other browsers (FF 3.5.1, latest Opera, Navigator, IE 6, 7 and 8 via Parallels Desktop) can display the pages normally.
I don't think it is related, but most of the websites that are affected are hosted at MediaTemple:
http://www.bedsupperclub.com
http://www.soundphuket.com
http://www.silqbkk.com
http://www.bedmgmt.com/
Reloading the page doesn't help (we tried reloading a gazillion times).
The issue affects all computers in our office (iMacs, MBP, MB).
We are using the latest version of Safari (4.0.2), it's an issue that we also experienced with 4.0 and the Beta.
We are gradually shifting to Firefox as this issue is really frustrating.

• Memory leak? Firefox won't load pages/open.

Ok, I believe there is a memory leak. I am surfing ok then a page wont load. I go to taskmgr and I show that one firefox has 104,990 K of memory. The rest have at most 3,000K. After the page won't load I close Firefox. It won't open. I have to turn on PC and unplug to get it to open again.

This issue can be caused by an extension or plugin that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
See:

• Safari & Firefox: Won't load pages with images

Everything was working fine one night, and then the next, I couldn't load any pages with graphics. The one caveat: Google loads without a problem, even a Google image search. Every other site, including Apple.com, either won't load at all, or will begin to load until it encounters and image, and then hangs. Thoughts?
I've seen similar posts, but none of them really apply, and the only one that did, didn't have an answer.

Every other site, including Apple.com, either won't load at all, or will begin to load until it encounters and image, and then hangs.
You're saying that, in addition to images not loading, pages are loading slowly or not at all, as well?
If this is the case, then the problem isn't isolated to images. It sounds more like a problem accessing web pages altogether.
As a troubleshooting measure, try setting fixed DNS addresses, either in your router's configuration or in System Preferences -> Network. For the latter, click on the network connection that you use, e.g. "Airport" or "Ethernet," then click on the Configure button. Click on the TCP/IP tab and enter a pair of fixed DNS addresses in the section with that label, as follows:
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
You can copy and paste those directly from this forum into that DNS address field.
(Those are OpenDNS addresses, available for use by anyone. DNS addresses are the addresses of servers that tell your web browser where to look when you type a web page address in your web browser.)
If that doesn't work, the problem lies somewhere else. But your symptoms (slow or no page loads; and even when pages load, images not loading) sound a lot like the DNS problems I had before I started using alternate DNS addresses.

• Firefox won't load pages and says "Stopped" in the lower left corner of the screen.

From last night "Latest FF and XP Pro. 2.4 Ghz Celeron, 1 gig RAM. FF will work for a while, then it will stop loading pages and say "Stopped" in the lower left corner of screen. Sometimes I can refresh and the page will load, but 95 out of 100 times I can keep refreshing and it will say "Stopped". Or, the page will partially load and then quit and say "Stopped". I have disabled IPv6 and DNS Prefetching and it is still doing it. IE is doing about the same thing. VERY frustrated. My last PC started doing this and I finally upgraded to a newer one and it was fine for a couple months, but started doing the same recently. Arghhh ... Thanks!"
Thanks to you who replied last night/this morning. I hit the "solved" button apparently but this from last night-
https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/forum/1/702910#threadId703008
is not solved. I tried FF 3.5.9 and still have the same problem.
Thanks again,
Dave
== This happened ==
Every time Firefox opened
== a while back

You, me and many others (based on threads throughout the net) have this same problem. I've had some peeps at Mozilla take a look, they couldn't find a problem or a solution.
Here's what I found does work - The problem popped up on me when I upgraded to Firefox 3.63. Uninstall FF 3.63, and install 3.59. You can still download it until end of June or July I think.
My problems went away with 3.59. Seems to only affect Window users as Mac Firefox 3.63 works fine.
Also found some threads pointing to ZoneAlarm Firewall, timeout handlers and some upload tools. I don't have ZoneAlarm so I don't think that was the cause, just another victim.
I wish Mozilla would pull the plug on 3.63, re-package 3.59 as 3.64 and go back to the drawing board until they find out whats wrong.

• Safari won't load pages, but internet connection is good

For the past 24 hours, whenever I try to reply to an e-mail, or create a new one, mail suddenly crashed. It is very reliable in this way; there are no exceptions. The the newest update/change to my configuration was the update of the 10.4.4 system stuff from Apple, followed a few days later by an update for the 15 in G4 Powerbook battery management.
Also, though not related to mail, the Software Update function does not work - "Can't connect to Update Server", and Safari will not load any pages - "CAn't connect to server...". However, Network Diagnostics says that I am connected to the internet, as does Firefox - it loads pages just fine! All other computers in our home network, including my G5 Tower, are performing and access the internet just fine.

Bump
Could this have something to do with the Software Update error discussed in OS X system board? Various sites are off-limits (Network timeout error) such as E-bay; Microsoft etc. while others work fine.
Tried a full re-install etc but nothing - no non Apple apps, clean 10.4.3; purged, repaired etc etc
