Firefox will not open Gmail, or load all the data on the google tab and will not load Outlook lite on a webpage correctly.

In the last couple of days when I start Firefox it will not properly load the Google home page I set up. It will not load the calendar or Date and Time. When I try to open gmail it will not open. I use Internet mail using outlook lite and it does not open properly formatted. All of these problems did not exist until two days ago. I have even gone back and did a system restore 8 days ago to see if that would correct the problem.

Firefox does not activate Gmail when I click send link in the menu under File or by right click menu on a webpage. I have set Gmail as the Mail to under options, but this did not help.

I have the same problem but it appears that an add-on I'm using is causing the problem. Try opening Firefox in safe mode (which disables add-ons) Then try it. If that solves the problem, you need to disable all your add ons and enable them one by one to figure out which one(s) is causing the problem.

Firefox "hangs" when opened and will not load first page

I am running Firefox on Mac OS X and when I open it it hangs and does not load the first page. The whole application does not respond so I can't open it in safe mode or anything. I have to keep force quitting it.

So no help from any one about this?

Even though I set Gmail as the mail to setting on the Options tab, firefox does not send links. This started when I updated to the new version of Firefox.

In Firefox 3.6, typing "gmail" in the address bar would simply open the gmail page (and similarly for youtube, etc.). This version brings up a google search instead of just opening gmail or youtube, etc. Is there any way to "fix" this?

Basically, getting a google search instead of the actual page is an inconvenience, at least for me.

The change between Firefox 3.6.* and Firefox 4 is how location bar search works. In Firefox 3.6 it uses Google "Browse by name" search. With the browse by name search, it performs a Google search and if there is a clear match it will take you to the site, otherwise it shows the Google search result. With Firefox 4 it just performs a Google search if you type something which is not recognised as a URL.
To get the Firefox 3.6 behaviour on Firefox 4 you need to change a hidden preference.

FireFox won't finish downloading/installing

I have been trying to download FireFox for the past two or three hours. I am using Windows XP Pro. A box pops up that says... "you're about to enjoy the very latest in speed," etc and near the bottom is a progress bar that has downloading/installing. These green bars scroll by like its trying to download and then they stop and the little green bars start one by one like it is finally downloading. On the last try, i had about 12-15 little green bars and then... they start scrolling again.... never making it over to the "install" part.... HELP!!! I have used Firefox on a previous computer but for the life of me I can't get it installed on this one.

Use the full version of the Firefox installer instead of the small stub that requires internet access.
Download and save the full Firefox installer to the desktop and start the installation with a double-click on the desktop icon.

My Firefox won't fully open.

The other day it froze saying there was a script error, but would never fully close or let me do anything including restarting or shutting down my computer. Now Firefox will not open anything aside from the bar at the top and will not function, but continues to say my Firefox is in use and won't let me delete or replace the program.

Every time i load firefox 5 it opens 2 tabs, one being the homepage, the other being the "welcome to firefox 5" window

I recently upgraded to firefox 5
now every time i load firefox, it checks my plugins with a load bar and then brings up the "Welcome to Firefox 5" window, as well as a 2nd tab for my homepage. if i have to uninstall/reinstall, what files to i have to backup in order to keep my bookmarks, skins, tabs and settings?

Why does a loading bar appear when i open pages? it does not go away and does not allow me to close the app while it is up.

when i open my pages app a loading bar appears and cannot be removed. i have waited two and a half hors for whatever it is to load and i finally just had to force the program to close through the activity monitor. But this problem persists... every time i open the app the loading bar haunts me. i can still edit the document but the loading bar is still "layered" in front of the open app. my final question is, how do i get rid of this loading bar and what is it for?

It sounds as though Pages is trying to resume editing a bad document, or a very large one. Quit Pages, Force Quit if necessary, and then start it up again while holding down the Shift key to prevent reopening formerly open documents.

When trying to go to Gmail, the tab won't open and just says "loading".

For the past three days, every time I try to go to Gmail, Firefox's tab says "loading" and won't open gmail. Gmail works fine on Internet Explorer on my laptop so I know it's not Gmail. In addition to the above, the first thing I would do is clear the cache and delete cookies for the site, this can sometimes help with accessing a site that previously worked. Firefox won't open for me. I keep getting the errors listed below:

"Firefox is already running, but is not responding. The old Firefox process must be closed to open a new window."
Nothing is running. I've killed all the firefox processes, restarted, uninstalled and reinstalled.
What can I do?

Do a clean (re-)install:
* Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

* Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
* Don't remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
* It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
* It may not be necessary to create a new profile, so first try if it works with your current profile and if not then create a new profile.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere (not in the Firefox program folder) and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

Safari and firefox won't launch and explorer opens but won't load correctly

Something weird is happening to our emac!
Got home yesterday after a few days away and all the apple aps have stopped working
Safari and itunes won't launch at all - they just bounce a couple of times in the dock - then nothing.
Firefox won't launch either - the only browser I can get to launch is explorer - and that won't load properly.
I've tried the software update - it says there's now software - but 'unexpectedly' quits if i try to download anything.
In desperation overnight I re-installed the software from the software restore discs - but this morning it's no better.
I saw a thread earlier that suggested that rogue fonts might be to blame - which could be something because the only page that loads in explorer displays strangely with the fonts all over the place.
Any advice that someone could give would be much appreciated

Better check the startup disk for errors.
Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.
Select your start up disk and click Restart
While you have the Disk Utility window open, look at the bottom of the window. Where you see Capacity and Available. Make sure there is always 10% to 15% free disk space.
If you cannot boot from your install disk, try booting in Safe Mode
