Firefox won't recognize the "file://path" construct.

How would I code a link in source code so that I can link to a file on a local server? The standard "file://path" or label or label constructs are recognized by IE but not Firefox. Is there a coding that most browsers will recognize? (File is located on an office server.)
== This happened ==
Every time Firefox opened

  • Lightroom (4.3) won't recognize the file type while importing from Canon 5d Mark iii

Anyone mind helping me trouble shoot why my Lightroom (4.3) won't recognize the file type of my Canon 5D Mark iii ?
I have seen this in a couple other threads but none of those suggestions worked for me. I am also a Mac user.

    The above contradicts with this:

So my reading of that is that you ARE importing Raw files from the 5D3 into Lightroom, but having to use a roundabout route to do so. Is that correct? If so, how are you trying to import when you "cannot import raw files into Lightroom", are you using a card reader or direct camera attachment? Have you tried both methods? And what happens when you do try?

  • On my Macbook Pro, the latest version of Firefox won't recognize the "Command-W" command to close windows or the "Command-C" command to copy / paste text.

I'm fine when I use Chrome and Safari -- but I'd rather use Firefox. I have done a clean reinstall of Firefox and I'm still having the problems. Any ideas?

  • Firefox 6.0.1 update won't recognize the home page which uses a password access which has been saved into 6.0.1.

    Question
Firefox 6.0.1 update won't recognize the home page which uses a password access which has been saved into 6.0.1. The security shows permissions for the web site but doesn't recognize that I've been accessing the web page every day since I updated to 6.0.1. Web page trying to access is <http://classic.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=zmw:98108.5.99999> This home page worked fine on earlier versions of Firefox and continues with Internet Explorer 9.0.

Looks like its been fixed for me, not by 6.0.1 but by - Todd Siechen from http://www.dvdthemepak.com

    Todd... I love you xxx
After having a nightmare since first day of version 6.0.0 and still no fix after 6.0.1, even after Apple requested the files... You fixed my problem... Checked for duplicate fonts and found about 5, selected "Resolve Duplicates" and everything great, even with old projects... You should work for Apple!

    1) The first and biggest culprit we found to be causing problems is with font issues. In order to alleviate this problem, open Font Book and make sure all the Fonts that are turned on have no dots next to them. If they do then select them and select "Resolve Duplicates" from the Edit menu. If you are using a different font manager then use whatever tool is available to make sure no duplicate fonts are loaded. iDVD 6 is very sensitive to this.

i tried to get the installation disc for the camcorder but mac wont' recognize it becaue it is windows based i guess.
i just bought the camcorder a few months ago and when my computer crashed thought i'm finally getting a mac...it's been a costly venture which has resulted in more frustration than before my pc.
now the things i want to use with my mac that i thought would be even simpler...are not even useable...

That camera shoots H.264 in an .avi wrapper.
You will have to transfer the files via the Finder.
Get a free copy of MPEG Streamclip and convert them to QuickTime .mov using the H.264 codec if you are presumably editing in iMovie.
Note that your list of video codecs won't look like mine as I have Final Cut Pro, but H.264 is definitely an option for you.

  • How to get the file path from HTML input form in Firefox 3...

In IE7 (and probably all famous browsers, including old Firefox 2), if we submit a file like 'C:\folder1\folder2\folder3\filename' it works properly and gives the full path to the file and the filename.
In Firefox 3, it returns only 'filename', because of their new 'security feature' to truncate the path, as explained in Firefox bug tracking system (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=143220)
I have no clue how to overcome this 'new feature' because it causes all upload forms in my webapp to stop working on Firefox 3.
Can anyone help to find a single solution to get the file path both on Firefox 3 and IE7?
    Thanks in advance....

As you're posting this in the JSF forum and looking at your [previous topic|http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5342365], I assume that you're using Tomahawk's t:inputFileUpload. In this case, just use UploadedFile#getInputStream(). You may find this article useful: [http://balusc.blogspot.com/2008/02/uploading-files-with-jsf.html].
By the way, are you lazy or just dumb? You wasted one week to this! I've posted the aforementioned article one week ago. How did you stuck?

Is this a webpage that contains a link to a flv file? Please post a link to the page and tell us which link(s) are the problem flv files or else post a link to the .flv file itself.
Alternately, click on one of the sample FLV File links on this page and tell us exactly what happens:
    http://www.mediacollege.com/adobe/flash/video/tutorial/example-flv.html
It might also help if you post the exact error message, including the path to the flv file.
    '''Note:'''
Depending on how you have Firefox set up, clicking on a FLV File link will either save the FLV file to your computer or Firefox may open it automatically in an external application right after downloading (Firefox may ask you first). Firefox itself can't play FLV files so you need a "helper" application (or a plugin for flv files, if ther is one. You can see if Firefox is already set up to download or open FLV files by going to Firefox Preferences and looking in the Applications list. Find the FLV file type in the list and, if the action is "Open with", it should show the application that can play FLV files (e.g., VLC Media Player or Perian). See [[Managing filetypes]] for more information.

  • Firefox can't find the file at (a location is specified) when either "Navigate previous" (and next) buttons are pressed in an HTML5 skin (but OK in IE/Chrome).

I create HTML5 help projects from a package called MadCap Flare. It uses what they call an HTML5 'skin' that sets the style/layout of the page and also includes 'Navigate previous' and 'Navigate next' buttons. When viewing the help and pressing these navigate buttons in IE8 or Chrome 32 there is no problem, but in Firefox 27 I get the following: (typical error for pressing a button on any page)
    "File not found"
    "Firefox can't find the file at /C:/SVN/FlareEnglishOnLineHelp/Output/HTML5_Help_Modeller_Reference/4attrib/idh_jointinterface_element_meshes.htm?TocPath=Modeller Reference Manual|Chapter 5 : Model Attributes|Meshing|_____2."
" Check the file name for capitalisation or other typing errors."
" Check to see if the file was moved, renamed or deleted."
    - Because the files and buttons work in other browsers I'm wondering just what is going on here with Firefox>>>>

I should correct that last entry and state that the | charactacters are generated automatically in the Toc-Path for each 'book' name in the online help, and are not something manually created, whereas the : characters have come from the TOC book topic names (which were manually entered names and are what we would ideally require). But, because 'previous' and 'next' topics within nested TOC books without colon (:) characters CAN be browsed successfully when just | characters are present in the Toc-Path, the limitation would appear to be solely due to the : characters.

  • When trying to export data from a program we use, it does not automatically recognize the file format as .xml. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this problem?

I have tried to uninstall verion 3.6 and reinstall. Also, I re-imaged the workstation, but it still does not work. The OS is Windows 7 32-bit. This same process works automatically on an XP workstation. In fact, the machine I re-imaged was an XP box, but it did not work on this particular machine. Hence, the reason for the new image.

I am exporting the file from TxEIS (in the Firefox web browser) and it does not download properly. Acccording to Firefox documentation, it is supposed to automatically recognize the file extension. I have not experienced this on any other machine within our environment. Other users are performing this same process with no problems. The browers settings are exactly the same as the machines that are working right.

  • New Username after reinstalling Windows7: How do i get iTunes to recognize the files?

    Hey everybody,
    ive got a little problem.
Ive just reinstalled my OS (Win7) and renamed the user from previously sebastain to sebastian.
Ive Backuped my whole iTunes folder including the Music. Unlucky: iTunes doesnt recognize the Files because of the new username.
So i took the "iTunes Music Libary.xml" and had a programm replacing all the "sebastain" in the paths by "sebastian".
    But stil it doesnt work.
Is there anything i can do exept for renamind the user back to "sebastain"?
    Thanks!

If possible, move the music back to it's original place.
You moved the files to another disk, without telling iTunes.
That's why iTunes can't find them.
Let iTunes do the move: iTunes: Moving your iTunes Music folder
In the preferences, you can change the iTunes Music folder to another location, but you're only telling iTunes where to store the next imports, not where the music files are.
That information is stored in the iTunes Library file:
What are the iTunes library files?

  • I can't import Nikon NEF (RAW) files.  It says it doesn't recognize the file.  Help.

I just installed Nikon Transfer and then View NX2 with Nikon Transfer 2 and successfully transferred over 300 RAW (Nikon NEF) files from my camera (Nikon D600) but Lightroom (v5.6) won't import them.  It says it doesn't recognize the files.  How can I resolve this?

Obsolete versions of Nikon software corrupt Nikon raw files slightly making them unrecognized in Adobe products.
You can reverse this corruption by using the utility from the following webpage:
    http://owl.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/fix_corrupted_nef.html
Basically you need to use Nikon software that is at least as new as your newest camera or don’t use Nikon software at all.

  • Firefox won't recognize latest update HP simple pass

I have tried everything and about just to say the heck with it and go back to IE9. But, I will ask.
WHY does Firefox refuse to recognize the latest upgrade to HP simple pass (Egistech) that is loaded onto my computer. It keeps saying the current 5.0 version is not recognized. Ok, I understand this, but I have loaded version 7.1 and firefox evidently cannot see it and keeps telling me 5.0 is installed.
Am I doing something wrong, or is Firefox just worthless and IE9 is the way to go?

Does Firefox find other plugins placed in that folder?
Note that you need to place a symlink to the libnpjp2.so file and not the actual file.
You can also try to create a plugins folder in your home directory: ~/.mozilla/plugins
