Firefox won't redraw on analog monitor driven by Radeon 4350 graphics card

I'm running two XP SP3 on a reasonably current desktop with 4 GB and an ASUS Radeon 4350 graphics card with 512MB. The card drives two Samsung SyncMaster 2443 monitors, one from analog RGB port, the other from a DVI port. I've been using Firefox since v.3, but sometime around v.8 or v.9, it began to have problems when ever I had a Firefox window open on the analog video port. (I'm current with v.27.0.1)
The window 'appeared' to freeze - clicks, scrolling and the like failed to produce a re-drawing of the window's content. However, if I dragged the window over to the other monitor running off the DVI port, the Firefox window would re-draw itself with the new content. This behaviour told me two things. On the analog port the Firefox window was still alive, and responding to keyboard and mouse inputs, but not displaying the results. Secondly, the problem was related to the Firefox - RGB interface. Oh! I forgot to mention: Firefox was the only application exhibiting this behaviour.
A support session with ASUS produced no solution. After searching several related Mozilla support issues, on a problem closely related to mine someone suggested turning off the hardware accelerator, and re-starting Firefox (Tools > Options > Advanced > General > "Use hardware acceleration when available"), which I did. Poof! Problem solved, case closed. Except, Why?
Is this just because of my hardware setup? Or Firefox - I generally have 6 to 10 windows open at a time, some with several dozen tabs (I'm a software architect, so tend to keep a lot of context on the desktop). I'm glad I can scroll Firefox now on my other monitor, and click buttons and be able to read the response, but I think there's a defect here somewhere...

I think it has something to do with the acceleration compatibility of many type of graphics cards.

I have just bought the Premiere CS3 upgrade and have startet working with it. I was wondering how it would be possible to connect my Sony Bravia or Pioneer plasma (both HD ready) in order to preview the editing. I am an amateur who cannot find the support from the wife to spend $$$ on Matrox RT.X2 (or similar) to satisfy a hobby. But a purchase of a new graphics card could go unnoticed. ;-)
I am under the impression there are graphics cards out there where an adapter can be bought to convert the DVI -> HDMI, so I can view on monitors mentioned above. Is this correct?
Apparently, colour reproduction will not be as good as with RT.X2 (the proper gear) but that is really not an option for me.
(According to the manual pg228 it is also an option to output back to the camera which in turn is connected to the TV. Does not work on Mac OS in HDV mode)
Any suggestions or pointers in the right direction greatly appreciated.

I don't know anything about AutoCAD, so I have this question. Is it a RAM intensive program? If so Parallels isn't the best way to go, Boot Camp would be. Parallels is a Mac program running a Windows virtual machine from inside Mac OS X. The physical RAM resources are shared, first Mac OS X with Parallels and then Parallels with AutoCAD. The same with the RAM on the video card, Mac OS X has first shot at everything. At least with Boot Camp, all the hardware resources on the iMac are 100% dedicated/available to Windows when the Mac is started in that OS.
Although the differences are benchmarkable, there isn't really much noticeable difference in the 2.16 GHz and 2.33 GHz to the casual user.

My computer has a Radeon 7800HD graphics card. Firefox shows graphic artifacts in sthe shape of alternating square boxes which obliterates the text

I keep getting alternating brown squares as artifacts all over my computer when browsing with Firefox. The squares are concentrated on the bookmark area on the left of the screen and also the menu section on the top of the screen. This has been a problem since Firefox 18 and is still a problem with Firefox 20; enough of a problem that I am considering a browser switch. We have another computer that has the same problem and that computer has a different graphics card. Any help someone can provide would be appreciated.

Cant open firefox on second screen on computer with two screens with two graphics cards.

I have a computer with two screens and two diffrent graphics card. One of them is onboard GC and another one is USB GC. I am running two instances of FF and it works fine with 3.6.20 version. But when I update to the latest version of FF either 5 or 6 this does not work. Even if i try to open one instance of FF on second screen on USB GC , I cant see anything> i have to move it to the main screen to see the FF window and will not work on the extended screen. I am using windows 7 pro 32 bit and the screen resolution is set to 1280x1024 on both the screens.

Try to disable hardware acceleration.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.

Multi monitor/different graphic cards

I have an MSI Z97-G45 motherboard, and have a Visiontek ATI Radeon 5570 graphics card installed on it. I have a Nvidia Geforce GT610 graphics card that I also want to install since I want to run extra monitors. Please can someone let me know if this is possible, or will they conflict?

you will have a conflict between the drivers as you have a AMD and Nvidia set of drivers that will need to be installed and they share the same Regestery keys so it will be a mess!
if you need more outputs get another card that is the same Maker either AMD or Nvidia that use the same drivers as each other!

No signal through monitor across several graphics cards

Hi. I'm running an IdeaCentre K410 with Windows 8, and I'm having a serious issue with getting any sort of display from my monitor after installing a new graphics card. Here is the system specification of the shop bought PC:

8GB DDR3
Geforce GT 630
I upgraded the power supply to a Corsair 600w, which is a decent PSU. I attempted to install a HD 7750 PCIe 3.0 card into the slot, and later tried a 660ti in the same slot. Both cards gave no output to the monitor despite all connections being correct internally. The system appears to be running fine in the background. Here are the tests I conducted:
- Downloaded all relevant chipset drivers etc from the Lenovo K410 page
- Checked card was seated correctly, and cables attached accordingly. Reseated card
- Tried multiple monitors with different cables (HDMI output, DVI-VGA)
- Prioritized PCIe video output in BIOS
- Tried a Corsair 430w PSU for the low power 7750
- My friend tested the 7750 in his system, which worked fine
After all this testing I still get the same result for both cards.
Now the BIOS revision was updated 9/12/12, which is fairly recent. The only thing I can think of is that the motherboard has some kind of compatibility issue with PCIe 3.0 (PCIe revision of 7750 and 660ti), as the working GT 630 is PCIe 2.0.
I cannot find any BIOS specific updates online, so how should I tackle this? This is incredibly frustrating.

I purchased a GTX 660 and hearing the computer turn on with everything running smoothly (even the cards fan sounds nice) I get nothing. I followed all the steps you outlined...nothing.

Graphics Card to drive Dual Monitors

I have just purchased a xserve and I want to run dual monitors. Are there any graphic cards I can put in the PCIe slot to with dual DVI out. On the website the 1900xt is supposed to work but is a double wide and I need the other slot for raid card

Well, you win the prize... the ATI 4350 does work... albeit with a LOT of trying different options to get it all to work properly

Firefox won't even open now that I've installed Snagit - what can I do to fix this?

Today I bought and downloaded Snagit (TechSmith) for Macintosh. When the program was being installed it asked me if I wanted a nifty Firefox extension installed. I stupidly (as it turns out) agreed! Now, Firefox won't even open. I've tried restarting the computer and still no luck. How can I diagnose the problem with Firefox? (I know that I could just download Firefox again but I don't want to lose my many bookmarks etc.)

After reboot firefox won't start. runs in task manager, but won't pop up. reset, safe mode and uninstall/re-install won't help. ok if no reboot.

Tried to use Restore to return to pre-Firefox4 but now Firefox won't open and won't uninstall.

After trying to maneuver the new Firefox 4.0 for a while and giving up, I wanted to go back to the 3.6.1.6 version. I used the Restore feature to try to go back to the pre-Firefox 4.0 dowload. Since then, Firefox won't open. I have tried to uninstall Firefox 3.6.1.6, which is listed in my installed programs in the Control Panel, but it doesn't do anything. At this point I don't know what to do. I want to re-instate the 3.6.1.6 version on my computer. Thanks.

You're in a bit of a pickle here because you can't use System Restore to revert to 3.6.16. You probably now have version 1.9.2.x which is in part, files which were not removed when you installed FF4
What you can try and do is use System Resore to undo the last restoration which should take you back to 4.0 again. If that fails, see this article: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_firefox
If the undo restoration is successful, do the following to revert to 3.6.16
Go to [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html Download Firefox v3.6.16] and download it to the desktop. If necessary, download the file with IE8 and choose to save it to your desktop when you see the prompt.
Then go to Add/Remove Programs, scroll down to Mozilla Firefox and remove it, choosing to keep your bookmarks, customizations etc., (don't checkmark the box).
Then reboot and delete the folder called '''Mozilla Firefox''' at this location: ''C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox''
Finally run the installation file you downloaded to the desktop earlier.
Your bookmarks, customizations etc., are maintained in a different location and will become available to you again once you complete the installation.

You can use one of these to start Firefox in Safe Mode:

Firefox won't open links from Mac Mail

Like everyone else Apple Mail links will not open in Firefox if it is already open. Clicking a link brings FF to the front but no page loads. Links work if FF is not open. Links work if command is pressed whilst clicking the link (opens in new tab in background).
Problem occurred after 32.0.2 update, it appeared to briefly resolve itself after 32.0.3 update, but stopped (I think) on next reboot.
Have monkeyed around for ages with different combinations of default browser and rebooting.
Will abandon FF and go back to Safari if this isn't sorted soon - shame.

Work is proceeding on [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1017595 Bug #1017595 – Links from external applications sometimes fail to open when Firefox is hidden] but as you can tell from the title, this is focused on the problem of Firefox not coming out of hiding from the dock or coming out of hiding but not loading the page. If this also occurs when Firefox is not hidden at all, there may be a secondary issue. But hopefully solving the one will solve the other. Unfortunately, I don't know whether it will be in time for Firefox 33.

Mac won't open pages in browsers. Chrome and Firefox won't open any pages - Safari will only open a selected few.

I've had some strange browser issues, with Conduit being added to Chrome (which I've tried to remove via the browser settings). Chrome will open my Gmail account but no ther pages. Firefox won't open anything. Safari opens a few pages (this forum thankfully) but is very selective.
Google is returning results to me via Google.es rather than Google.co.uk
I can use all browsers freely on other devices on home network (although Google.es has popped up on my iPhone now). I've run anti-virus software which hasn't picked up any problems. I've tried uninstalling Chrome and Firefox, but am unable to do so.
Any help or guidance would be really, really appreciated.

Firefox won't startup so I can get to its preferences, profiles or anything else for that matter. This happens every time I try to start it up. I've recently reloaded my system software and transfered my systems settings from a backup hard drive that Time Machine (Mac app.) saved.

Firefox 4 versions and later do not run on a PowerPC Mac.
Firefox 4 and later require at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac.
