Firefox won't restore all my windows in session restore.

I pulled the plug for my PC by mistake when I was sorting something out and I had firefox running with 3 windows opened. I switched it back on and restarted firefox. The session restore tab appeared this all my windows listed and checked, but when I hit restore only 1 was restored.
This has happened to me before on firefox 3.6, all I did was exit and start firefox again and the other windows showed up. But that didn't work on firefox 14.
I've managed to restore the sessionstore.js file to a previous version. When I restarted firefox 5 windows were listed in session restore but I could only view the tabs on 2 of them (why?). Clicked on restore and only those 2 windows appeared.
Is there any way I can recover the other 3?

If none of the other links show up with the bookmarklets and you also do not see them if you open the sessionstore.js in a text editor then those windows weren't saved.
The default maximum for recently closed windows is 3.

  • Why, suddenly, does Firefox decline to save all open windows before quitting?

One of the best aspects of Firefox is that you can close your browser and Firefox will--or used to--remember all open tabs. Now my only option is open, or close and lose all tabs. Why?

I agree with mrpoizun. I liked everything about Firefox before 4.
This automatic saving of sessions has one big flaw! When opening FF, it shows a blank screen (simply because my innitial preference is to start on blank). If I should change my mind or accidentaly close this, the blank is saved, or rather the previous session is deleted. The Restore option is disabled.
I request that "Save & Quit" be restored!
Hm. Wonder if there is anything in my browsing habbits that requires FF4? If not, then I'll just try to find an earlier installation file.

  • Firefox Won't Open a New Window

I'm setting up my new iMac and installed Firefox as my internet browser. If I close all the browser windows, it won't open another window even by clicking on File>New Window or using keyboard shortcuts. I have to close the program entirely and reopen it to be able to open a window. Any ideas?

  • Firefox won't spawn a new window, either from the File menu or by right-clicking a link

I can't get Firefox to open a new window under any circumstances. Not from the file menu, and not by right-clicking on a link. This has been going on for at least a week, and I don't know what changed before it started happening.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened

Disable or Uninstall ZoneAlarm Toolbar. They are still having problems with it in current Firefox.

  • Firefox won't open multiple secondary windows in OS X. It does in Windows.

For my work as a psychologist I rely on a website called TherapyAppointment.com for practice management. The website works best in Firefox because of the secondary windows feature. For example, I can have files open for several patients at once, have a tab for my calendar, etc. This worked fine on my Windows PC but I have just changed to a Mac and Firefox for OS doesn't behave as it did in Windows. Nor does it do so in Safari, but I sort of expected this. I hope there is a fix because my work is much easier when secondary windows are working right.

What method do you use for launching additional windows? For example, if you are accessing the windows using links, usually one of these will work:
    * hold down the Shift key when clicking
    * right-click the link > Open Link in New Window
I know that Shift+click can be defeated by a script in the page that overrides your selection, but hopefully you do not have to fight the site...

  • Open firefox screen resolution for all computer windows blows up really big closw fire fox goes back to my settings Help!

    Hi
Thanks for the help. I did what you advised, but it still did not work.
The repair disk was successful. Unfortunately when the system restarted to boot my startup disk, I faced the exact same problems as I did previously. I also did a hardware test, but no problems were found.
Even tried powering off and on the macbook pro again but the same problems remained...
I tried to back-up my files too but they refuse to copy/move into my hard disk drive folder.
    Nothing works.
Do you have other ideas? Or suggestions?
    Thanks so far!

    Try allowing pop up windows
    Open Menu
    Options
    Content (on the top)
    Click Exceptions...
Type mail.google.com in address of website area
    Click Allow
Try to open attachment window now.
Restart FireFox and try adding attachment again.

  • Firefox won't download; I have Windows 7.

I'm trying to reinstall Firefox. I hit the download button and nothing happens. I see there are three steps but I can't begin the process if I can't download the software.

I'm assuming you are using Internet Explorer, correct? You can try resetting IE, [http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737] can help with that.
Then just click the download button, look for the little box or the bar at the bottom of your screen, then click "Run". Let firefox download, and follow the wizard.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: command+Shift+F).<br />
If you are in full screen mode then hover the mouse to the top to make the Navigation Toolbar and Tab bar appear.<br />
You can click the Maximize button at the top right to leave full screen mode or right click empty space on a toolbar and use "Exit Full Screen Mode" or press F11.<br />

  • Attempting to do private browsing session froze Firefox, then won't restore one of the 2 windows I had open (with multiple tabs in each). Only 1 window is able to be restored now.

I had 2 windows open in Firefox. Each had multiple tabs open in each window. I then attempted to do private browsing session, but then a pop-up box appeared asking me something about a script (related to private browsing). This froze Firefox. So I had to close Firefox using ctrl-alt-del. I tried to re-open Firefox, but only one of the windows will restore now (with the tabs that were previously open). I clicked on "History" in the menu bar and the "Recently Closed Windows" phrase is grayed out. Is there a way to go about restoring this window? I considered doing a restore to 3 days ago in my History tab, but I am worried that this will erase all the bookmarks I've made in the past 3 days. I've also considered going manually into history and trying to forage through each, but many of these tabs have been open for about a 3-4 weeks now as I've been keeping them all open for research. So they would be buried under hundreds-thousands of other pages. (I've done a lot of browsing). Should I just call it a loss? I appreciate any help.

I removed add-on BetterPrivacy. No problems since then anymore.

  • Firefox restores (expands) all reduced windows from the Taskbar everytime I select "Open In A New Window" for a link.

Nightwolfx03 has asked this same question as question #822903, but with different wording. To maximize the matches for searches, I'm re-stating it.
When I right click on a link and select "Open Link In New Window" to display a new webpage, Firefox restores (expands) ALL the windows which have been minimized on my taskbar. Multiple windows cascade upwards onto my screen, taking several seconds and being incredibly annoying. HELP!

This issue can be caused by the ASK.com Toolbar
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

    Hi NicoMan,
According to your description ,we seem to suffer a performance issue here.
Have you tried to open the task manager to check the system performance  ? Is there any specific process occupied many system resources ?Will the issue occur only with the specific applications ?
We can try to restart the Windows Explorer process to have a check.
If it only occurred with the spefcific two applications ,we can try to end the other application processes manually from the task manager to have a check .
If this is caused by the specific application ,we may need to look for help from the third party support considering they are all the third party applications .
    Best regards

  • I have three problems with Firefox 3.6.8 that 3.6.9 hasn't fixed: 1) Firefox has stopped responding to any and all javascripts, 2) Firefox won't play any embedded videos, and 3) Firefox won't let me open up new windows.

Every new link has to be opened in a new tab, or nothing happens. No matter how I try, I can't open more than one window with Firefox. Worst of all, if I surf the Internet for more than an hour, all these problems have a cumulative effect and Firefox simply crashes. I'd uninstall 3.6.9 and reinstall 3.6.6 (which gave me no problems) if I could only figure out how to save and export all my passwords and user IDs first -- that's way too much to have to input again from scratch!!

Do you have that problem when running in the Firefox SafeMode?

  • Firefox won't open a message tells me it is all ready running I need to close the window to open firefox. Firefox is not open so why do I get this message

When I try to open firefox a box opens up and tells me firefox is already running in another window and I need to close the window if I want to open firefox in a new window. Firefox is already closed, nothing is left open when I close out firefox. I would only have this problem once in a while but now it is happening more often why?

Open Task Manager and click on the Processes tab. Scroll down to "Firefox.exe" , click on that line and click on "End Process" button.
