Firefox won't spawn a new window, either from the File menu or by right-clicking a link

I can't get Firefox to open a new window under any circumstances. Not from the file menu, and not by right-clicking on a link. This has been going on for at least a week, and I don't know what changed before it started happening.
This happened
Every time Firefox opened

Disable or Uninstall ZoneAlarm Toolbar. They are still having problems with it in current Firefox.

Do you have that problem when running in the Firefox SafeMode? <br />

This is configured in Finder preferences under the General icon. You can make some changes to that behavior.

• Firefox does not appear on screen when started from the start menu, but task manager says the process is running

Firefox does not appear on screen when started from the start menu or the shortcuts, but task manager says the process is running.

No - I get the message basically saying "Can't run program while Firefox is running. Please close down Firefox & try again".
I rebooted my computer and it all works now - but that's weird it was happening before. Kinda weirded out that it happened at all.
To avoid that happening again, I still wanna know what to do to avoid it or fix it for next time. Thanks

• Firefox Won't Open a New Window

I'm setting up my new iMac and installed Firefox as my internet browser. If I close all the browser windows, it won't open another window even by clicking on File>New Window or using keyboard shortcuts. I have to close the program entirely and reopen it to be able to open a window. Any ideas?

• Firefox keeps opening up a new window with "index of file///c /program files/mozila firefox" as I'm browsing, how do I stop this?

every time I open firefox after about 2 minutes a new window pops up with 2 tabs, one saying problem loading page, the other shows a list of program files, thier size and when the were last modified. When I close it, it pops back up again in a few minutes.

If you get a program called malware bytes it blocks that window from popping up. Hope that helps :)

• Firefox won't let me run and executable from the website-it wants to save it

Looks like I lost all this information when I clicked to install the troubleshooter???
again-- problem is I deleted old Internet Explorer and tried to install I.E. 8. With Firefox, I can't click download and choose run. When I click download I can only save.
The saved download doesn't produce a file that works (it just tries to install I.E. , cleans off old files and restarts the PC OVER AND OVER.)
I would like the choice to RUN a file instead of saving but I can't find out how to get this option back.
I disabled all plugins, add ons, looked for possible limiting causes in Firefox to disable. STILL--I have NO CHOICE.
Maybe this plea for help won't fix my problem and I will have to REPAIR windows--hate to risk it--I would have to back everything up, etc.
Hopefully a simple answer to this question will solve my problem.
Thank you to all who consider my question. I appreciate your time.
Libby

Hi--
Thanks for the response. I was sure I used to have the choice to run or save when I started using Firefox and somehow I lost it with one of my adjustments. Forgot how or what I did!
Before going back to Microsoft to try that I.E. program file again, I tried one more time to run it. That was the 5th time I tried to install I.E. from the saved file --and it worked!
However, after that I tried to download an executable file from malwarebytes--- with and without my Kaspersky internet security program on--- the file RAN automatically anyway instead of insisting on SAVING!
Maybe this was a microsoft issue?
I am relieved that all is settled. Always try things 3 or more times is the rule with computers, right?
But thanks for the tips--I may need them someday. Likewise the Safe mode w/ network support tip.
ALSO--The page you referred me to was one I hadn't found with my own searching--it was much much better than the others. I bookmarked it.
Thanks again...

• Firefox won't let me change my homepage from the default

I have recently formatted my computer (doing a full system wipe, not just a settings wipe) and now Firefox isn't behaving. If I change my Firefox homepage to another homepage (IE Google) it will save it until I close out all my Firefox windows, then it goes back to the default homepage. I have tried doing a full Firefox uninstall, and deleting my profile and it's not working. I set the files to 'read only' and changed my homepage, and it still went back to the default. I have even deleted the prefs to no avail. I'm positive it's not malware as I have just formatted my computer (It was doing the same thing for a while last time I formatted as well but it somehow fixed itself) I do have Adblock and Status-4-ever installed, but those have been in my PC since before I formatted last time and have never caused a problem. They're also on my other computer, and it works fine as well. Any ideas on what I can do to fix this?
PS. Sorry if I'm in the wrong area. I'm a little bubblebrained today. =P

You are in the right area, this is the support forum.
You should not make the profile read only, that will cause problems, for instance you will not be able to change settings or add bookmarks.
Before you go any further try to make a copy of the current profile including the sub folders and files, and any accessible previous profile. (For instance are you using a disk image of the hdd prior to it being wiped, does that have the old profile on it) this suggestion is made because some of that information is likely to be useful, but is being put at risk of being deleted or overwritten.
Have a look at
*preferences are not saved
* and backing up your information
A potential problem is that you may have tried to restore from a Windows backup, they do not always work, and may need another clean re-install, but note do NOT delete the profile it is the program files that may need deleting.
Try the following in this order, testing after each stage
# return the profile settings to their standard privileges
# use firefox in safe mode<br/> no need to make changes in the options dialogue window, just click on continue
# try a new profile
#* see Basic Troubleshooting#w_8-make-a-new-profile_8-make-a-new-profile
# back up your profiles (see above) then try a clean reinstall http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Clean_reinstall

• New to using Firefox with MAC: How does one save a single jpeg image from the web (as in a right click on a pc?)

New to using Firefox with MAC: How does one save a single jpeg from the internet, similar to using the right mouse click on a pc?

If your question comes about because you have a single button mouse, it's time to visit your local computer store and get a real mouse for that MAC. I don't "get" Apple, they sell their hardware for almost twice what a comparable PC would sell for - and then they leave out what is probably the most important time saving control, the right-button.
See this for setting the hidden pref for context menus in Firefox, for Mac's.
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Ui.click_hold_context_menus
type about:config in the URL bar and hit Enter
Pref Name = ui.click_hold_context_menus
Double-click to Toggle to True

• I cannot open a new tab using the + or Ctrl T or from the file menu. The only way to open a new tab is to click a link. How do I fix this?

The only way to open a new tab is to click a link like in an email, or right click to tell it to open a new tab. When I click the + or Ctrl T nothing happens.

Uninstall the Ask toolbar and it should work again. There is a compatibility issue with the Ask toolbar and Firefox that prevents new tabs from being opened.
There are a couple of places to check for the Ask toolbar:
* Check the Windows Control panel for the Ask Toolbar - http://about.ask.com/apn/toolbar/docs/default/faq/en/ff/index.html#na4
* Also check your list of extensions, you may be able to uninstall it from there - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Uninstalling+add-ons

• I can't remove Yandex Elements from the Open menu list with right mouse button and Tools menu although I removed Yandex. I think it slows down Firefox.

I downloaded Freeyoutube downloader from internet and somehow got yandex installed in my computer with toolbars on firefox.Despite I removed Yandex from my computer Yandex elements still stays in open menu when right mouse button clicked and in the Tools menu. I tried to uninstall Firefox, remove yandex registry from windows registry and restart computer, and then reinstall firefox, Yandex elements still hangs there. Firefox is now running very slow compared to the running before Yandex.

hello, please try all these steps:
# reset firefox (this will keep your bookmarks and passwords)
# afterwards go to the firefox menu > addons > extensions and in case there are still extensions listed there, disable them.
# finally run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the free version of malwarebytes and adwcleaner to make sure that adware isn't present in other places of your system as well.

• Creating a new user request from the user menu

I have a menu item that calls a process to create a request for a new account (contractor/applicationID). I have the request form and workflow working, however, IDM uses the requestors context to create the request. How do I open the new view in the form and clear the requestor's user context out of the way?
What I mean is when the form appears, if I select a resource, the attribute fields all appear with the requestors data filled in. The process I'm calling has a built-in form preceeding the workflow.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
try to add the the tag
<argument name='Subject' value='Configurator'/>inside your code to check in the view(i asume you use a userview to acomplish your task).
Does it work then?
Regards,
Patrick
