Firefox won't start after google chrome imported all data(bookmarks, passwords, history, etc) from firefox

firefox won't start after i import the data to google chrome.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • Firefox deleted ALL of my data (bookmarks, passwords, history, etc.) The data on my pc was also re-started somehow.

After deleting three add-ons and refreshing firefox I realized that all my data (bookmarks, passwords, history, log-ins, everything) was deleted. I went to the help site and tried everything suggested. Nothing worked. The files that are supposed to have my old firefox data on my pc was also deleted. I'm at my wits end and at this point I'm getting tired of firefox.

Well, it's pretty clear how we can make a backup with iTunes, but the backup is:
    1. closed and cryptic - no way to verify if it's valid or not
    2. must use iTunes to restore - if something bad happens with iTunes, the data is lost forever
We need a way to ACCESS our personal data without using iTunes.
As I said, iTunes is hideous, unintuitive and buggy.
Unlike the iPhone, or any other Apple product, with iTunes It's not clear how to operate all the different menus and knobs and preferences. It is not clear what iTunes is actually doing behind all those menus and buttons and options.
It's frustrating, and it is becoming a burden on the entire product.
And the fact that I can't rescue my personal data from those iTunes backup files is annoying and bothering. I don't have the time to start hexediting those files, hoping for a miracle.
Apple, I must say, with iTunes, you completely blew it.

  • Can I use Synch to migrate (import) settings and preferences and history etc. from Firefox 4.0.1 on a PC to a new Mac running Snow Leopard, and if so, how?

I love Firefox and have relied on it for years. But I'm now planning to move from PC to Mac and would like to keep as much of my Firefox personalization and customization as possible. I have never needed to use the Synch feature before, and I cannot find reliable instructions telling me how to do it in these circumstances. Does anyone have any helpful suggestions? Thanks very much.

Ubuntu may have moved those three button as well to that control bar.

I do not see much about coloum 14, but I am guessing this file is stored somewhere and its corrupt. Update.xul suggests that it is the update file. Do you still have this in your downloads folder? There are two places for update and for a clean reinstall:
[http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/] in a private window will give you a new install or you can choose from here: [https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/]
This is what the file should look like; [http://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/log/7a2edc5171e6/toolkit/mozapps/extensions/content/update.xul] If you can copy and paste that file from a working browser we can see the issue, but it will just look the same as the error.
if you can replace the contents of the file locally with what it should look like it will fix the error, but who knows if there are other errors. May be best to delete the updater and save all the profile folder contents.

  • FireFox won't start after upgrading

This morning I upgraded to FireFox 5.0, when it was done installing the upgrade the last window had the option to start FireFox on completion, I left this option checked but after clicking the "Finish" button nothing happened so I clicked the new FF icon on my desktop. Still nothing. I opened Task Manager and nothing was listed on the "Applications" tab but when I clicked on the "Processes" tab there were several instances of FF running so I selected each one and clicked the "End Process" button which worked to exit all but one of them. No matter what I tried it would not terminate that one instance of FF so I shut down the computer. After firing up the computer I tried re-running the FF install app but it kept telling me that I had to exit FF before it could run, I looked in Windows Task Manager again and there was FF listed under "Processes". I restarted the computer to get rid of the running FF and then downloaded the FF file again, but am getting the same results. It just won't start (and it won't even give an error message)! I surfed the Web and found info stating that you could SHIFT click the FF icon to open it in Safe Mode, but that didn't happen either. Any ideas????

it does not work even in windows safe mode with networking. same issue. if i wait for some time firefox comes but in not responding mode. then a pop shows up with - script: chrome//browser/content/tabbrowser.xml 2123 .

  • Firefox won't start after download and update

I have win 7. I uninstalled Firefox and downloaded it again.
The icon appears but the program won't start. I am so used to Firefox and don't want to use IE.

    I also get a message:
"There is no disk in the drive-insert a disk into drive/device/hard disk4/dr4
I uninstalled Firefox several times , still no luck
I hope you can help me resolve this problem.

  • Firefox won't start after 18.0.1 upgrade

I have upgraded to the latest version and then two days later, The mozilla Crash reporter opens and it won't start. Nothing happens when I press details.
I can't run it safe mode. The same thing happens.
I uninstalled and re-installed and same thing.
I then uninstalled rebooted and re-installed V16. That was then ok for a few days then same thing happened.
So I unintstalled rebooted and on went V15 which worked for about 8 hours. However I can't get any version to work now. The Crash Reporter pops up whatever version I have.

We're sorry to hear that your Firefox seems to be crashing when you open it. Please perform the following steps to give us a crash report ID that helps us find out more about the cause of the crash.
#Press the following shortcut to get a Run window: [Windows] + [R]. This should bring up a window that contains a text field.
#In that text field, enter %APPDATA% and press Enter. An explorer window should open.
#From that explorer window, double-click on the ''Mozilla'' folder, then double-click on ''Firefox'' and then on ''Crash reports''. Double-click on ''submitted''.
#Now, you should see a list of files that contain reports. Go to ''View'' > ''Arrange Icons by'' > ''Modified'' to get the most recent files at the top of the window.
#Open the most recent 5 files with a text editor and copy the IDs.
#Paste each ID into the reply window on the forums.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Firefox won't start after installing an update from Apple - what to do?

I am not computer savvy. When I installed a recent update from Apple on my Mac. Firefox won't open. Safari wouldn't either, but an Apple tech led me through steps to fix it. He didn't know what to try for Firefox.
== right after update was installed and Mac restarted ==
    == User Agent ==
    Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X 10_4_11; en) AppleWebKit/533.16 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.1 Safari/533.16

Then a  clear CMOS would be the next logical troubleshooting step.
Here is  a link to your motherboard specifications.
The information on clearing CMOS is at the bottom of the document.
This is usually the last step before giving up on a motherboard.
The problem you are facing is motherboard hardware firmware related.

  • Firefox won't start after update?

Apparently my system crashed during a win7 64 update overnight. I restored to a previous restore setting and was able to get windows back and going again. Then, when I clicked my firefox shortcut to open the browser and restore my previous session it said that the browser was updating and would start shortly. It never did. Several minutes later when I tried to click the usual shortcut I now get the message "The item 'firefox.exe' that this shortcut refers to has been changed or removed..."
How can I go about resolving this without losing my history, bookmarks, and the ability to restore my last session? I had many tabs open that were important and would like to get back to that session so that I can bookmark them.

Using System Restore can cause your Firefox installation to get corrupted because only white-listed files are restored, so always be cautious with using System Restore.

  • Firefox won't start after updating

Firefox recently completed an auto-update, however now the software won't load.
If I click on the Firefox icon, I get the Windows egg timer for about 10 seconds, then the pointer reverts to normal and nothing happens. If I open Task Manager at the same time, when I click on the Firefox icon, I see the application listed for approximately 5 seconds, then it's removed from the list.
I have tried running in compatibility mode, as well as removing and re-installing, neither of which have helped.
    Can you advise, please ?

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
