firefox won't start on windows 7 after upgrading to version 19 or 20. Even if it starts up I cannot do anything on it, its in not responding mode. I have tried uninstalling and installing again with both version 19 and 20. Also i tried deleting the profile and re creating a new profile.
it does not work even in windows safe mode with networking. same issue. if i wait for some time firefox comes but in not responding mode. then a pop shows up with - script: chrome//browser/content/tabbrowser.xml 2123 .

Firefox won't start after windows update
After windows Updated my computer Firefox won't start. I tried a clean reinstall two times, won't work. When I tried to start the firefox the first time after booting my computer it comes with the following message.

I do not see much about coloum 14, but I am guessing this file is stored somewhere and its corrupt. Update.xul suggests that it is the update file. Do you still have this in your downloads folder? There are two places for update and for a clean reinstall:
[http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/] in a private window will give you a new install or you can choose from here: [https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/]
This is what the file should look like; [http://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/log/7a2edc5171e6/toolkit/mozapps/extensions/content/update.xul] If you can copy and paste that file from a working browser we can see the issue, but it will just look the same as the error.
if you can replace the contents of the file locally with what it should look like it will fix the error, but who knows if there are other errors. May be best to delete the updater and save all the profile folder contents. -
I am using split screen sofware of LG but it is not working for me with vmware fusion 7. Is this a known problem? I am using an ultra wide monitor of LG (29um65), and installed windows 7 on my mac, by using VMware Fusion. But the software won't work of LG. It won't start. LG can't help me, because normally the software is working by using windows 7 on a windows pc. I got it also working on a mac , when I used other virtual software as Virtualbox VM, but it seems not to work with vmware fusion 7. Can somebody help me with this problem?
yes, I think you are right, but I used virtual box in the past, and had no problem with the LG software, so it has also to do wit VMWare Fusion I think.

Sound won't start with Windows 8.0, but will after hibernate (It toggles)
TWIST U230 running Windows 8.0
Recently I had a crash that required Windows 8.0 to "fix some things", which I assume it did. However, one of the side effects is that the sound drivers are no longer enabled, or working at least, after a reboot. If i hibernate, then I have sound. But, when I hibernate again, it also turns off my sound. I also just updated the sound drivers.
SUSPECTED
Something is toggling the drivers to wok or not work after being enabled from reboot or hibernate.
WORKAROUND REQUESTED
I'd like to at least craft a script to reenable the drivers without resorting to Windows loading them at start. Of couse, if I figured that out, I could also fix the root cause.Try resetting the SMC
Shut down the computer.
Disconnect the MagSafe power adapter from the computer, if it's connected.
Remove the battery.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
Release the power button.
Reconnect the battery and MagSafe power adapter.
Press the power button to turn on the computer. -
Satellite A200 - Button support won't start on windows start up
Hey,
Today I decided to turn off as many useless program's as I could (to speed up my pc) so I went to Msconfig (I have vista home premium 32 bit), and turned a lot of things off. Including the "toshiba button support". The next time I restarted my extra buttons on the top of the keyboard all worked, beside one. The one that normally turns windows media player on. This time, it did nothing at all. The play/resume, stop, forward, backward and internet button all worked without problem.
However, I really liked the WMP button, so I tried to find out what the problem was. I found out it was the button support, so I decided to turn it back on.
However, this did not help :( . I turned it on in msconfig again, but it won't start with windows anymore :(. I know it's the program I need, because when I manually launch the program (it's the program: programfiles/toshiba/TBS/HSON.exe ) the button works.
I did put a V in front of the program in msconfig, but that did not work. Anyone has an idea why not?
Edit: I found a solution, although not the best. If anyone ever has the same problem:
I made a shortcut from the program that had to run (can be found in C:programfiles/toshiba/TBS and is called HSON.exe). Next I clicked on start, and said "all programs", here I selected the folder "opstarten", this is the dutch version, but my guess is it is called something like "start up" in english. In this, I pasted (copy/cut -> paste) the shortcut to the program, and now it starts again :)Hi!
I agree with Akuma. You should try to reinstall the Toshiba Value Added Package. This controls the media buttons, FN buttons and all special functions on the notebook.

Firefox won't start. Everytime I end the process/close the last window, it keeps getting stuck at about 2500k memory in the task manager. The only way I have to fix it is to change some kind of compability settings or try and access it in a new way, and every time it crashes/closed/computer blue screens that setting will no longer work.
That is a short term solution, but eventually I'll run out of ways to access firefox successfully. I've tried many solutions, and some worked, but only once. Firefox 3.6.3 won't start with a particular file:///
I can do {"c:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" file:///n:\911c\OwenShow\helphtm\ohelpfrm.htm} but I can't do the same thing in a windows exec; firefox runs and hangs-up in the background. I assume this is FF's problem because when I run firefox again after killing it, the file appears correctly; or if I run firefox, and then try the exact same exec process, it works (i.e., in a 2nd tab). Updated OSX (10.6.5) - and then thought what the heck, I'll trying enabling Firefox Sync. And it worked - for a couple of days. Until I accepted the update for Firefox Sync (1.5.1) - and I am back where I started, nothing works.

win7 Pro. has been running firefox ok. but lately with 25 and now 26, the firefox won't start. I can see firefox is running in task manager. but it just won't pop up.

When I try to click on firefox, the little wait icon appears and then disappears. Nothing opens, not even safe mode. I've looked at the "Firefox won't start and there is no error message" help section and looked at my task manager processes. It seems that when I click firefox, it briefly appears on my processes and then disappears. This happened yesterday while I was in the middle of using it. At the same time, my Skype also crashed, which makes me think the two are correlated. The two programs still don't work. The only way that I can open firefox is if I install it all over again with the "launch firefox now" option checked at the end. So I ran firefox, and it was updating. While updating, firefox crashed for no apparent reason so I had to close it. Firefox won't install on Windows 7 64-bit.
I just installed a new hard drive on my system with Windows 7 64 Bit OS. Same that I used on the old hard drive that crashed. I downloaded the installer, and have tried to run it both with and without administrator permissions (by right clicking on the file). the UAC asks me if I want to proceed, i say yes, I get a flash of some window and then . . . . nothing. I have downloaded a another copy of the executable, with the same results. I am using my laptop to post this.
Firefox is normally pretty simple to install. Look at any security software you have installed is any of that somehow blocking or preventing the change.

Firefox won't start; no error message; profile manager also won't start. What can I do?
Suddenly, firefox won't start. I get no error message--it just won't open. System restore to a month before the problem did not help.

Before I received your response, I tried something that seems to have worked. I used Chrome to go to the Firefox website and downloaded Firefox (without uninstalling it first) and went through the installation process again. For some reason, this worked, even though I already had the latest version of Firefox, and I can now open Firefox successfully.
If it stops working again, I will try your suggestion. In the meantime, thank you much! -
Firefox won't start in any form
I have never had any real problems with firefox not starting in the past, but today I adjusted my internet settings to allow firefox to delete cookies, cache, etc whenever the program was shut down. After doing that, I went to re-open firefox and it would start up, but always "not respond". After 2 or 3 attempts of this with the same result, I restarted my computer and now Firefox will not start at all. The hour glass will pop up for a few seconds, then disappear. The firefox window will not open, but it shows up in the process' list in Win. 7's task manager.
things I have done:
Ran Malware check's using 4 different programs (malware bytes, hitman, etc)
Ran rootchecker
Ran my norten antivirus.
Everything that was found (not allot) was removed.
The Firefox window Does NOT open at all
I cannot open Firefox's "Safe" mode
Firefox will not open in Window's safe mode
I have un-installed and done a clean re-install, and the problem is still there.

You need to use the [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles Profile Manager] to create a new profile. This should allow Firefox to open. You can then migrate your bookmarks, personal data etc across to the new profile.
