Firefox wont load pages, other browsers do, firefox solutions did not work?

Hello!
I have Windows 7, and run Firefox Beta 36.0. I have it set to update automatically, and it seems there was an update yesterday, and now Firefox will not load any pages.
I have tried changing the proxy settings, configuring the firewall, and restarting my computer; none of them worked. :(
After configuring the firewall, there are now two Mozilla Firefox programs shown (in the allowed programs and features list)? I had made sure to delete, then re-add them, but it made two Mozilla Firefoxes in the list appear. Not sure if this effects anything though.

Ah, I figured it out by changing the firewall settings on Norton to allow for firefox and the firefox add-on, instead of auto. Hopefully putting the setting on allow instead of auto wont make me vulnerable to security threats!
I was about to cry haha, Chrome wouldn't download as I wanted to use it until I could find a solution, and I though I would be stuck with IE for forever. xD
Thanks, hopefully this will help others!

    from the start page firefox wont load websites-my other browsers work just fine

    hi, such issues are often caused by a firewall/security software which doesn't recognize & therefore blocks new firefox versions. please remove all program rules for firefox from your firewall and let it detect the new version of the browser again.

  • Firefox wont load websites, other browsers can. Premature FIN,ACK?

    Whenever I load a webpage in FF, I get "server reset connection".
    Any other browser on the same machine loads any webpage fine. FF on another machine on the same network is fine.
    I tried:
    * Disabling the firewall
    * Uninstalling and reinstalling FF (even older versions)
    * running FF in safemode
    * Disabling any plugins
    * Creating a new profile
    * Logging in as another user
    To no avail.
    BUT: If I debug with fiddler2 - FF works fine. As soon as I stop fiddler2 from capturing, FF works no more.
    I tried Wireshark, and this is what I see:
    * 1 0.000 remote-collab > http [SYN] Seq=0 Win=65535 Len=0 MSS=1260
    * 2 0.023 http > remote-collab [SYN, ACK] Seq=0 Ack=1 Win=5840 Len=0 MSS=1380
    * 3 0.023 remote-collab > http [ACK] Seq=1 Ack=1 Win=65535 Len=0
    * 4 0.033 remote-collab > http [FIN, ACK] Seq=1 Ack=1 Win=65535 Len=0
    * 5 0.056 http > remote-collab [FIN, ACK] Seq=1 Ack=2 Win=5840 Len=0
    * 6 0.056 remote-collab > http [ACK] Seq=2 Ack=2 Win=65535 Len=0
    The trouble ssems to be that 4 packet. Something is sending a FIN package about 0.023 seconds after the connection is established. Any Idea what it could be? Is FF being stubborn? (note: I get the same with a disabled firewall)

    See if anything here helps you. The 17 most popular firewall programs are covered. And the Enum Process program is explained a bit, along with a download link to that program. It is a good program written by a Firefox support helper over at MozillaZine to help Firefox users determine what they have running as far as firewalls and other security programs go.<br />
    http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firewalls
    The biggest problem with Firefox and firewalls is that when Firefox is updated it almost always comes with a new '''firefox.exe''' file, which is what launches Firefox and what the firewall looks for as being different than expected. Most other programs don't change their "executable" file almost ever, so the firewall is never challenged. Plus some firewall programs aren't updated in a timely manner and don't recognize the new executable automatically and need the users intervention ''(or jacking around, as I see it)''.
    That's about the limit of my experience with software firewalls. I use an IP tables hardware firewall on my LAN, and only ever used a software firewall on a laptop I had a few years ago - and only because it was used off of my LAN. My current netbook uses Linux and I don't see the need for a software firewall, yet.

  • Firefox wont load pages completely after removing firefox cache

    Every Time i remove my firefox cache you tube and yahoo and other pages wont load completely or will load with errors. Anyone know why this is happening?

    Sometimes you only disable the user interface of security software, but the firewall services are still running in the background.
    Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

  • Safari not loading pages, other browsers doing fine

    Hi,
    I have an issue many seem to have: Safari 7.0.5 (and now 7.0.6) hangs when loading web pages whereas other browsers (Chrome, Firefox) work just fine. I've ran my tests on WiFi with two different routers as well as through iPhone tethering.
    Here are the steps I have taken so far but the problem persists:
    - re-installed my MacBook Air completely with the latest image from the App Store
    - Reset Safari
    - Disabled extensions
    - Unchecked "Warn when visiting fraudulent website"
    - Unchecked "Stop plug-ins to save power"
    - In the Develop menu, checked "Disable caches"
    - In WiFi settings, disabled IPv6
    - Changed DNS to OpenDNS
    - Deleted all Safari plist, caches, favicons cache, etc.
    - Turned off Safari in iCloud settings
    - Fixed permissions, rebooted
    - Disabled the prefetch setting from terminal
    - Emptied all my logs, launched Safari and tried to open this url: https://pragprog.com/login . Here is the (anonymised) result:

    Please read this whole message before doing anything.
    This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
    The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
    Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
    While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
    Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
    After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
    *Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
    The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
    Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
    Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
    Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
    Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
    The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
    Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
    After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • I recently installed FF 29.0 and found loads of issues with it, Noia 4 did not work nor did Fox Clocks along with other issues. Have these been fixed in 29.1???

    Is FF 29.1 just the same as FF 29.0 where we the user loose control of our browser and can't customise it to our liking. If so how do I stop the annoying pop ups telling me to install it because security issues or not I'm staying with FF 28.0. Thanks peoples for any replies they are very much appreciated cheers.

    hello jazzie5, on the noia 4 page the theme's author stated that the development has discontinued - as an alternative you can use https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/noia-fox/
    for fox clocks & firefox 29 please see this helpful comment by a user of the extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/foxclocks/reviews/582886/

  • Firefox wont load pages

    Firefox won't load any pages. It just does nothing!
    I used to use it a lot until this happened a while back. I have reloaded it. I have started in Safe mode.
    If I run the mouse over buttons, they change shade, and some work.
    But if I want to look at connection settings Tools > Options >>> then the Options box will pop up empty.
    If I enter a URL, lets say www.bbc.co.uk nothing happens, no matter what I hit.
    I have also tried closing my firewall but still no results.
    Any ideas??

  • Hi, my firefox wont load websites but other browsers like internet explorer , chrome can . This problem occurs when i use my company's router ?

    my company have two internet connection ; 1 is dsl connection , firefox working fine on it ; 2 is my company's own cisco 2911 cisco router with internet connection , firefox wont loading pages except just the homepage of google.com and that's it , and the problem is that whole company is using company's internet connection which means that firefox is death for all of us.
    Reseting firefox works but just for one day and after that it stuck again. also tried other solutions like malware removal , re installing firefox etc but not worked
    Thanks for any kind of solution

    thanks alot for your quick reply fredmcd
    i have searched alot on the internet and got the solution , it was a thread known as "l.yimg.com". every time i open a website ,it stucks in "transferring data from l.yimg.com" , so what i did is;
    1) End the process "random.exe" from task manager
    2) Delete all the history and cookies of the infected browser.
    3) Opened Registry Editor and delete these malicious entries:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\ L.yimg.com
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\L.yimg.com \DisplayName L.yimg.com
    HKEY_USER\.default\environment\temp
    HKEY_USER\s-1-5-18\environment\temp
    HKEY_USER\ s-1-5-19\environment\temp and so on
    4) Search those malicious files on your hard disk and completely delete all of its components.
    %AllUsersProfile%\{random}
    %AllUsersProfile%\Application Data\.dll
    it really worked for me , if anyone have the same problem then try it , hopefully it will work for you too.

  • Problem loading pages after update to Firefox 36

    After updating from Firefox 35.0.1 to version 36, I am unable to load any pages in Firefox. (My internet connection is fine and I can use other browsers on the same computer.)
    I've already tried many troubleshooting routines to fix the problem but none have worked. I've tried the instructions here:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/fix-problems-connecting-websites-after-updating
    (including troubleshooting my Firewall and proxy settings)
    and here:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-cant-load-websites-other-browsers-can
    I've also tried the more general and extensive troubleshooting here:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-and-diagnose-firefox-problems
    NONE of the suggestions in any of those pages solved the problem. Opening Firefox is Safe Mode did not help either. I was unable to load pages even in Safe Mode.
    After following all of the steps in all of those troubleshooting guides and still failing, I uninstalled Firefox completely. (I followed all official directions on how to uninstall.) Then I re-installed Firefox VERSION 35.0.1. Firefox again worked fine with the older version.
    Then I restored my profile from a backup using MozBackup. (My most recent backup was done when I had Ver. 35.0.1 installed.) Everything was still fine; Firefox worked fine and all of my settings were back to my preferences.
    Finally, I again tried to update to version 36 - and the same thing happened! Unable to load any pages!
    One other thing I've noticed: With version 36 installed, there is something wrong with my Options dialog. The first time I upgraded, I had only blank tabs for "General" and "Advanced"; with my second try, after updating to V 36 my Options dialog has blank tabs for "General" and "Search" (although Advanced is now showing.)
    I am going to uninstall again, and again go back to V 35.0.1. But I would like to be able to update to the newest version. What can I do?
    (I am a long-time Firefox user, and reasonably computer savvy. I have many extensions installed as I use Firefox as an important tool in my job as a website designer. I have Firefox extensively fine-tuned to my liking to optimize my work-flow.)
    Any help appreciated!

    Your message seems to have covered all the normal things we check.
    When you tried using v36, did you have any add-ons? Have you tried;
    '''https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles'''
    '''Windows: 32-bit''' C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe -p
    '''64-bit''' C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe -p
    '''Mac:''' Navigate to '''/Applications/Utilities.''' Open the Terminal application.
    In the Terminal application, enter the following:
    /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin -p
    '''Linux:''' In '''Terminal''' run: firefox –P
    For users who have one or more builds from mozilla.org this will not work.
    It would be best to have the full path so if you had placed the untared contents
    in a folder in /home it would be /home/<username>/foldername/firefox/firefox –P
    An easy way would be not to do it in a terminal but in say a launcher since
    you have to point it to the firefox script in Firefox folder you can then add –P
    on end. You can also have the exact "profilename" after the -P so Firefox
    will start with that Profile.

  • Pages not loading in firefox unless refreshed several times but loads in other browsers not an issue of firewall malware or ipv6

    a week ago firefox suddenly stopped loading pages unless refreshed several times but loads in other browsers, not an issue of firewall malware or ipv6 I've tried all that I uninstalled and reinstalled also. I also tried disabling my addons.

    Hey man,
    If I'd had that problem and done things that you'd done and seen no results. I'd delete FF again but this time fully - clean the registry as well. Then I'd remove java environment and everything related to it, sdk, jre etc...Reboot the PC and reinstall the newest version of FF, then download the latest versions of java platforms, sdk etc... and reinstall the as well.
    Hope this helps,

  • Firefox 4 wont load page completely or play videos on youtube after clearing cache

    Firefox 4 wont load page completely or play videos on youtube and ive noticed its always after clearing cache. after a while it will start working properly but its kind of annoying. Know what the problem is?

    oh, there is still a pending issue with youtube unfortunately. I can play videos individually but if I click on a video that is part of a playlist it lags and then goes to a blank space where the video should be. Is that a flash player issue? So, I can play videos individually but not playlists.
    Any word on that would be awesome

    Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?
    A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
    Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
