Firefox wont make a new tab while i'm on a page with flash elements.

Whenever i'm on a page with flash elements I cannot make a new tab by hitting Ctrl+T. though Ctrl+click on a link and selecting New Tab from the menue still works. if I have 2 tabs open and one with flash I can go the one without flash on the page and use Ctrl+T make a new tab.

If a plugin has focus then that plugin handles all key presses, so you can't open a new tab via the keyboard unless you first set focus outside that Flash object.

hello, it looks like you're running a very outdated version of firefox & old plugins - this is a grave security risk, since there have been dozens of critical vulnerabilities fixed since firefox 3.6 was released (that was over two years ago).
you need to take the following steps as soon as possible:
* download & [[Install Firefox on Windows|install]] the latest version of firefox from getfirefox.com
* check your plugins at https://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/ & update all of those which are out of date
* you might also want to [[Uninstalling toolbars|remove all toolbars]] that you've installed since they can cause problems. in firefox go to tools > addons > extensions and uninstall Yahoo! Toolbar, Conduit Engine, Radio TV 2.1 Community Toolbar & Ask Toolbar. afterwards you might want to run the [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/searchreset/ searchreset extension] to restore the search settings that conduit has overwritten...
* do a full scan of your system with your security software

How do I make a new tab open to a Mozilla start page?

I can't find out where to make the change so when I open a new tab it opens to a Mozilla start page instead of a blank.

If you middle-click on the home icon it will open a new tab containing the home page.

Tried 2 hrs now, can't fix it: I want new tabs to open google, not blank page; dwnldng an add-on didn't work, & now config has many CT2504091 files, what next?

Currently, opening a new tab goes to a blank search page with an annoying advertisement, and I want it to open a new tab in google.com.
I've tried for over 2 hrs to fix this, following instructions I found. Nothing has worked.
I downloaded an add-on, but it did not work.
I then used about:config and tried changing "newtab" and "keyword" but those changes did not work.
I now see that the config list has dozens and dozens of files beginning CT 2504091, and I am wondering if those should be there.
I now fear i am making things worse if I keep trying, so I am writing to you.
Alos, I am reluctant to use the "reset" option because it says "will TRY to keep bookmarks," and my wife will NOT be happy if all her banking and other bookmarks disappear upon reset.

You likely have a user.js file in the profile folder, this may sound like jargon now but the steps below shall fix this.

I have a new computer with Windows 8.1. I downloaded Firefox but every time I try to read my email or something, I get additional tabs opening with content I don't want. I have selected no pop ups, cleared the cookies, only accept cookies from sites I visit, uninstalled and re-installed Firefox and the problem is still here. It does not happen in Explorer, just in Firefox.

If this happens only you start Firefox, try check your home page settings:

Earlier it did not happen like this. It is really very annoying. Re-installation and clean installation of the latest version did not helped.
And this is happening mainly when I am using Facebook. Earlier it never happened so with Facebook.

I can press ctrl for a new tab but otherwise a new tab does not open. I actually need help regarding this new Synch which apparently will be in Firefox automatically in an upcoming version so I am asking how that will synch with people who use LastPass-of course because I use this very successfully and really am not eager to change the set up that I have in place at this time.

If you have set Google to be your homepage, that should be the first one to appear. Are you seeing the Firefox home page when you open new tabs? New tabs should be blank by default. The only reason I've seen Firefox open new tabs with Firefox data on it is after an upgrade of the product.

When I have more than one tab open, if I click on a picture to view, when the window opens to view the photo, firefox crashes. I also notice while looking at a web page, the pinned tabs to the left of the bar are constantly reloading for some reason.
