FireWall problem in work?
Don't know where to post this question, but you guy's have been very knowledgable for me in the past.
I can no longer access my favorite gaming website in work. Figure it is a new firewall. I am wondering if there is anyway around this?
I like to read (not play) information on forums, during my lunch break of course, on the many different Diablo websites but can't access any of them now. .

Home Sharing- alleged firewall problem (-3259)
Hi,
I've had this problem since I first tried to share any content between libraries with iTunes 9. In fact, I noticed the same problem when I was trying to stream content to my Apple TV a couple of weeks ago.
So I have an iMac, MacBook Pro and Airport Extreme (802.11n) Base Station. Both Macs have Snow Leopard installed with iTunes 9. None have any third-party firewall software installed nor do they have the firewall turned on in System Preferences.
Here's the problem: when I try to share content from library to library, it doesn't happen. Specifically, I can initialise a connection between both computers so the other computer's library shows up in the sidebar in iTunes, but that's as far as it gets. When I click on said library, there's a 2 minute wait before the following message is displayed.
"The shared library "Liam's Music" is not responding. (-3259) Check that any firewall software running on either the shared computer or this computer has been set to allow communication on port 3689."
I've tried absolutely everything (including a direct Ethernet connection between both Macs- same error message). Most recently, I even verified port 3689 is open using the Network Activity app. If anybody could help me here, I would really appreciate it. I have so much content I want to share to my family's iPods, etc.
Liam.I am having the same problem. Except I am sharing the library from a D-Link NAS. It worked perfectly before upgrading to iTunes 9. It's not a network or firewall problem. Nothing has changed there. The only change is iTunes 9. Any help is appreciated.

Mountain Lion Firewall Problems
I just installed Mountain Lion. When ML's firewall is on, I cannot access the internet (browser, ping, etc.). When I turn the firewall off, everything works fine.
Is there a default setting that needs to be fixed, so that I can surf with a firewall?
Thanks for the help.The problem is (sort of) solved. This morning, I called Apple Care who told me (& I'm not kidding):
'You don't need a firewall, because "macs are unhackable" -- unlike Windows computers.'
After explaining port scanning and other hacking techniques, they passed me to a more technical rep who understood the need for firewalls. He took me to "\Library\Preferences" and asked me to delete the file "com.apple.alf.plist" and reboot.
After doing this, things worked, so I re-enabled the firewall and then *most* things (Safari, email, etc.) worked. Going into the Firewall Options, I see that deleting the specified file cleared out the "allow / blocked" list.
It seems like most applications can communicate, but others which, I suspect, need a non-standard port enabled do not seem to work. The rep did not know how to re-enable those. I did read that the command-line firewall (ipfw; which I was using) has been depricated in Mountain Lion and that we should use 'pfctl' -- type 'man pfctl' from the command line for details.
The final thing that made me laugh was when the tech support rep told me:
'We don't support the unix-level commands [even if they come with OSX], unless they are part of the troubleshooting instructions -- we just the GUI commands.'
I hope this helps others having this problem. -

I have an email account causes the machine to hang up after being in use for a day. It only occurs on my Macbook Pro and only one particular account. The problem account works fine on my iMac and Windows Machines. I have been to the local Genius bar and through trial and error we have determined that Mail is working ok but somehow the account is causing the problem. I have used this account for years. Any ideas what is causing this?
No idea why, but one thing you may try if you have the time, is create a new user, and set up the problem mail account in the new user space. See if it causes your MBP to hang as well. That will tell you if it is something wrong with your main User, or something wrong with MBP.
Assuming this works, I'd nuke the problem account in your main user space, re-start, and reinititate the account and see if that helps.
Depening on how many email accounts you have setup, it may be necessary to nuke the whole Mail folder in your User/Library.... Hard way to get it to work, but just my idea. -

We have an application, which should work for both English and Japanese languages. Our application is working fine for English data but in case of Japanese, we are facing problems. In the application, there is a language setting, where the user can select either English or Japanese. This changes the language of the labels to English or Japanese. We are handling this thru' ResourceBundles. But the data that is entered can be independent of this. In English setting also, the data entered or diplayed could be Japanese. Now we are facing problems at vaious places -
1. When we enter Japanese data and save it, it gets copied into the bean and if there is any error in the saving, the same data from bean comes back on the screen. This data doesn't appear properly in Japanese.
2. When we try to retrieve the already saved data from database, it doesn't show poperly in Japanese.
We are using our own 'toUnicode' function, which converts the data to Unicode before saving the data to database. Similarly, we have tried different encodings like SJIS / Shift_JIS / ISO-2022-JP at various places i.e. in 'Page' directive or in HTML Meta tag or various combinations of these two. Nothing is working reliably. Sometimes for some combination, data retained in the first case is correct but it can't be saved. Sometimes it works with Unicode, sometimes without Unicode. Some combination affects the Japanese labels as well. Otherwise the labels at least are displayed properly.
The same code with just Shift_JIS setting in 'page' directive, worked well in IIS Server for both English and Japanese.
What could be the problem in WebLogic? Does it matter if WL is installed on English or Japanese machine?
Kindly answer ASAP, since the project is getting delayed.

Thank youVideo is like Image formats, but on steroids. Also, many formats, such as AVI can have 100's of different CODEC's inside them. It is almost like having a JPEG, that contains a TGA, or a TIFF, or a PCX, or any number of what we see as other formats. It can be daunting, but let's start at the beginning.

As you see from that first link, the format is just a "wrapper," and can contain all sorts of "stuff." That FAQ Entry will tell you how to "peek inside" the wrapper. That is what we need, as Mylenium asks. If you can let us know all about the faulting files, maybe someone can help you.
Also, PS has somewhat limited Video support, both on Decode and Encode, so, and depending on what you have, you might have to convert that/those file(s).

FWM 01009 (null):firewall problem?
Hi Guys,
I have a problem with a DMZ installation and the firewall settings
Here's the situation.
On our internal network we have installed the servercomponents of BOXI Edge 3.1, which seems to be running fine.
We have a seperate Webserver with Tomcat 5.5 installed on it in the DMZ zone. Via Wdeploy I have deployed the war files on it (according to the wdeploy deploy document).
Whenever I want to logon to the CMC on my webserver machine, my login screen is appearing fine, but after I hit logon, I receive the error message FWM 010009 (null), a communication failure has occured. According to our firewall team, all ports are open in both directions. They have executed a trace and see that the BOXI Edge server is sending back packages, but that in that package should be an end communication order.
I still have (an older) VM with Edge 3.1 behind the firewalls (thus internally), from which I can access my newly installed machine in a glance...
As an extra test we have installed a complet Edge version on the Webserver as well. Communication on the webserver is OK, but as soon as we try to connect to the server behind the firewall, it goes wrong and the error appears.
So here comes my question, is there anyone who can give me a clue where it goes wrong?
Is it correct to say that it is a firewall problem?
If all ports are open on the firewall, communication shouldn't be a problem, isn't it?
Any help is appreciated.

we have appointed a static port 4982 to the request port.
According to our firewall guys, no communications is coming from the request port. Even before the request port can answer, the port 6400 is sending a FIN package (termination package) to the application resulting in the error message.
They say that all ports are open and that it's not a firewall problem... However when I communicate within my LAN environment this is not a problem...
Can please someone help me out?

I have just installed Lion OS and Face Time encounters server problems on sign up. I have sought to rectify the firewall problem without success and even temporarily turned off firewall with no success. Any ideas?
Some folks have discovered that changing their DNS service fixes FaceTime connection issues.
The ideal way is to configure your modem/router with DNS service, but often settings in System Preferences/Network/Advanced/DNS on your Mac will override the router settings. Try either of these;

Problem to work on ThinkPad T430 with Autodesk Revit 2013 models on external monitor
Did anybody from the community experience problem to work with Revit 2013 on external monitor, which hooked up to Lenovo T430 laptop with hybrid (Intel/Nvidia) video card? When I double click on any a model element on external screen this element jumps to unpredictable direction and I am getting an error message “can't keep elements joined”. It happened only on external monitor, when I am using the laptop screen nothing happened.
Is there any way to fix this issue? Thankshave you spoke to Autodesk about this issue?
Try to update the Nvidia video driver to the latest version, and see whether that helps.

Nexus 1000V. problem when working with the console VMWare
I have a problem when working with the console VMWare.
Sometimes it is impossible to connect any of the hypervisor to the guest OS managed by them.
I get the message: "Unable connect to the MKS: Host address lookup for server <name of the hypervisor> failed: No such host is known."
This message always appears in conjunction with the reconfiguration of virtual switch: "Reconfigure vNetwork Distributed Switch .... Initiated by Cisco_Nexus_1000V_ ....."
Upon completion of the reconfiguration, Communication console, with guest OS is restored, or on its own or after a reboot srv-vc.
In this time, I do not see any message in Nexus 1000v log.
What is this?
Thanks in advance.Smells of a DNS issue. Are you sure your ESX hosts are reachable from your client via DNS hostname? Try pinging them from a command prompt/terminal. You may have DNS server issues.
As a temp fix, edit your [windowspath]/system32/etc/drivers/hosts file and manually add the ESX host name and IP, then re-test.

Problems While Working With CLOB fields
HI Friends,
I am facing one big problem while working with CLOB fields. I work in crystal reports in my project and My team is works in BMC Remedy tool. As per database configuration by default the date fields are stored in numbers. There is a field named Work Log which stores the complete history information of a ticket or a call.
While generating reports I convert the date fields from numbers into date values by using to_date function. But I am not able to change the dates mentioned in the worklog which is a CLOB field. As a result when I am generating reports text part of the work log is comming fine but the date fields are comming in numbers.

See the first line of the worklog "1291012455anilkumarptesting", 1291012455 is referring a date value, but due to database configuration it's comming in number. All the other numbers in the above text are dates only which need's to be converted. These dates are captured in remedy tool when someone updates that ticket.
I am not able to decide how to change this numbers into dates. As it is containing lot's of numbers i am really confused how to come with a solution.
Can I expect a solution from you, atleast a way how to proceed resolving this problem. Should I have to write a procedure for this??
