Firewall unavailable  with OS 10.4.7

When I try to view/set firewall settings in System Preferences I get a warning message "Other firewall software is running on your computer...".
This was a problem with an earlier OS X upgrade and seems to have happned again when I recently upgraded to 10.4.7 on a G5.
I have tried trashing
/Library/Preferences/com.apple.sharing.firewall.plist
and repairing permissions but the problem remains.
I am not running any other firewall software but was running Little Snitch (which I have disabled).
Odd that it has not happened with a Powerbook G4 that was also upgraded to 10.4.7

Open the Terminal application in your /Applications/Utilities/ folder and enter the following:
sudo ipfw flush
Press Enter and type in your administrator password; nothing will appear onscreen while it is being typed. When done, press Enter again and turn the firewall back on from System Preferences.

  • I updated my computer to the new software and now the iPhoto has a circle with a line through it.  When I try to update, it pops up to say "These apps cannot be accepted by your apple id". Then will say "update unavailable with this apple id" how do i fix

I updated my computer to the new software and now the iPhoto has a circle with a line through it.  When I first try to open it the pop us says: "You can't use this version of the application "iPhoto" with this version of OS X. Version: 9.2.1"  When I try to update, it pops up to say "These apps cannot be accepted by your apple id - These apps were already assigned to another Apple ID and they will be available in that Apple ID's purchases list.  If you don't have access to that Apple ID and want to receive future updates, you will need to purchase the application".  I checked and there is nothing under the "purchases" in my App store.  Then will say "update unavailable with this apple id - This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or canceled." Then the third pop up says "We could not complete your request. There was an error in the App Store.  Please try again".  Just want to know how do to fix.

After I upgraded to Mavericks I was also having this message when I tried to update. There was a previous post about this problem which offered this simple solution which worked for me:

Re: Recently upgraded to Maverick from SnowLeopard. Unable to get updates from App store.
Mar 15, 2014 9:05 AM (in response to Terence Devlin)
Got it! Thanx.  What I did was go to my account, check that they had my new ID and Password which they did, then hit reset button. All fixed.

  • "Update unavailable with this Apple ID" when trying to update or re-download FREE apps purchased with this same ID

This morning I tried to update my apps through the app store. Many of them updated, but some (Soundcloud, Evernote, Viber, and IMDB) gave me the error message "Update unavailable with this Apple ID"
I removed those apps and tried to re-install them, only to receive the same message. I then logged out of the App Store and logged back in but this did not make a difference.
These apps are not showing up on my "purchased" list.
I have only ever had one Apple ID, and have been using and updating these free apps for some time now.
Any idea how I can resolve this? Searching the forums has not helped at all.

Same problem here. IMDB, TWC (weather app) Goodreader… Started this morning, out of the blue.
After deleting IMDB (hoping to reinstall), that app cannot be installed again! Trying to, gets you the same “Update unavailable” error.
Also, the problematic apps are not listed in my “Purchased” list (which is the real problem I think).
I also tried through iTunes. Same problem.
Can someone confirm that the problem apps are not showing in your purchased list?
I don’t know if it’s on Apple’s side (in which case it will get fixed) or on my side (meaning I will have to do something).
(I contacted Apple, waiting for reply.)

  • Hey, ive recentley got a new phone and im trying to download apps but it wont let me. And when i click download this is what comes up, "Update unavailable with this apple ID.

Hi, ive recentley got a new iphone 5C. I am trying to download apps on the appstore but it wont let me. It says this: Update Unavailable with this Apple ID.
This update is not available for this apple ID because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.
    How do u fix this??

Apps are forever tied to the AppleID used to download them.
Either use the original AppleID or delete the app and then download again
using your current AppleID. You cannot transfer an app from one AppleID to
another, nor can you merge AppleIDs.

  • Unable to update iPhoto and iMovie. "Update Unavailable with This Apple ID"

I updated to Yosemite and all went well but for the message "Update Unavailable with This Apple ID" for the two apps iPhoto and iMovie. I have tried using the terminal window and used code that others have suggested and obtained a SmartSearch. I deleted everything in that folder and I still can't update these two apps. The other apps updated without problems. Thanks for any help.

For a couple of years now, the verson of the iLife apps that come preinstalled on new Macs are the Mac App Store (MAS) versions. MAS apps have the Apple ID that bought them encoded in the app as an anti-piracy scheme. Since these apps are preinstalled, before using any of the three apps, the new Mac owner must open the MAS, go to the Purchases pane and accept these apps into their MAS account. This allows the MAS to encode the owners Apple ID into the apps.
Failure to accept these apps into your account and have them encoded with your Apple ID before using one of them renders the apps "as is" and they cannot be updated or downloaded to another Mac. The only way that I know of to rectify the problem is to use OS X Recovery to erase the Mac and reinstall OS X and the iLife apps, so that the initial setup can be attempted again and the apps be accepted into the MAS account and encoded with the Apple ID.

  • Family Sharing results in "Redownload Unavailable with This Apple ID"

I recently converted from having my Apple ID on all of our 5 devices, to setting up separate accounts.  I just got a new iPhone 6 for my wife tonight.  I didn't restore form backup, because she wanted to start fresh, and not have every App on the phone.  So when I started downloading Apps, I got and in setting it up, I started downloading Apps and after installing 10 Apps, I got the following error message:
Redownload Unavailable with This Apple ID
This redownload is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.
    Anyone else having this issue?
    Come on Apple.  Seriously?

For what its worth i've been having this issue too and have followed all the advice i could find, none of which worked. However the only apps we were having trouble with were those make in the update list (and the app's info page on the App Store) as "Non shareable". If the Family Sharing lead has "purchased" (and the "" are there as there are free apps in the list *cough* Twitter, Dropbox, Kindle *cough*) any non shareable apps then they need to mark them as hidden (tap and swipe the app to the left in the list of apps in the purchased section of the App Store app and then tap hide. Now, the non family lead who wants to buy/download the previously downloaded app needs to go back to the purchased section, select the Family Sharing leads name to show their app list (this seems to be important to refresh the information) then search for the app in the App Store, then instead of the cloud with download arrow there should be the "Free" or "Price of app" box, which they can tap to install and provide password/tap the touch ID scanner/ however you authenticate your purchases in that App Store. This worked for me and was the only thing that worked and seems to be the obvious answer in hindsight - however the distinction between whats shareable and whats not is very strange - there's free apps, that are and aren't, apps that login to web services that aren and aren't, apps that have in app purchases that are and aren't and paid apps that are and aren't its confusing so if you get this error, check the status and try this. Then complain to the app developer. I'm thinking of raising a bug report with some of the apps i've found as its confusing and there seems to be no reason for it.
    Good luck!

  • Cannot Download Instagram/Redownload Unavailable with this Apple ID

I have two Instagram accounts, one personal, one professional. I.e., two separate/different Instagram IDs and two different passwords for each Instagram account.
I have two cell phones, one for work (iPhone 6+) and one for personal (iPhone 5s). If it matters, the phones have two separate wireless company accounts, as well.
Each phone has its own iCloud/iTunes ID.
I purchased the iPhone 5s last May 2014, and the iPhone 6+ in December 2014. Thus, all of my personal accounts were set up on the iPhone 5s, first.
I have the two phones set up on Apple's "family sharing" via iTunes, in order to access and share some of my data, calendars, etc.
I have Instagram set up on the iPhone 5s. I can login in to either of my two Instagram accounts on the 5s, but I do have to login/logout of the app and reenter each ID and password for each Instagram account.
I want to install Instagram on the iPhone 6+ that I use for "work"  with my professional Instagram account. When I try to download the app to the iPhone 6+, I get the message that "Redownload Unavailable with this Apple ID." Please see the attached image.
I have tried different methods, but I cannot download Instagram to the iPhone 6+. Instagram says to go to Apple Support (https://help.instagram.com/126971294119253/) and Apple Support, as far as I can tell, considers this a 3rd party app and it isn't their problem).
I have looked at some solutions -- such as logging out of iCloud and iTunes on each phone, and then logging back in and downloading the Instagram app, but it appears that I will lose the data I have on the iCloud for each phone, if I login/logout of iCloud and iTunes on each phone.
    http://appletoolbox.com/2014/09/family-sharing-working-redownload-unavailable-ap ple-id-fix/
    family sharing is not working
This is completely stupid -- surely individuals within families have their own Instagram accounts and post from their own phones. And this is a free app!
Any suggestions as to how to download Instagram to my iPhone 6+ that don't involve losing any data?
    Thank you!

Thanks, Kappy, that made the lightbulb go off.
    Here's what I did.
    (1) Synced my iPhone 5s with iTunes.
    (2) Uninstalled the Instagram app from the 5s.
    (3) Re-synced the 5s with iTunes both to my laptop and the iCloud, since it now does not have Instagram on it.
    (4) On the iPhone 6+, loggedout of iTunes that has my "work" AppleID.  (Settings ==> iTunes & App Store ==> Apple ID: <apple ID here>; tapped on Apple ID:, then an image came up, and I logged out of that Apple ID, which is my "work" Apple ID.
    (5) Logged into the iPhone 6+  iTunes & App Store with my personal Apple ID and password
    (6) Downloaded Instagram.
    (7) Set up Instagram with my "work" Instagram userid and password.
    (8) Logged out of my personal AppleID for the  iTunes & App Store on the iPhone 6+, and logged back in with my "work" Apple ID.
    (9) Re-installed Instagram on my iPhone 5s and synced it with iTunes using my personal Apple ID.
    (10) Set up Instagram with my "personal" Instagram userid and password.
I don't know if I needed to sync and re-sync the iPhone 5s that way, plus uninstall Instagram on it. I may have added extra steps here, but better safe than sorry.
I do think that the key to solving this problem was logging out of the iTunes & App Store with my work AppleID, and the logging back in with my personal Apple ID to download the Instagram app, then logging out from my personal Apple ID and logging back in with my work Apple ID.
On each phone, I had no problem setting up each of the separate Instagram accounts. It was just getting the Instagram app to download to the second phone set up with Family Sharing.
I don't understand why I had to do it this way, but I guess Instagram only wants one owner of the App. Weird. I have not had to do this with any other apps I have downloaded under my "work" account and phone that I also have on my "personal" account and phone. For some of those, I use the same account ID; others, like Instagram, are separate.
I hope this solution helps someone else, too.

  • Update Unavailable with This Apple ID

For years, my wife and I have shared the same Apple ID, so that we could share music and apps without having to pay for them twice.
With the introduction of Family Sharing, I thought we could bypass that.
I had my wife create her own Apple ID. I enabled Family Sharing, sent her an invite, which she accepted, and she now appears as an "Adult" under Family Sharing iCloud settings.
I signed out of her iPhone and iPad with my Apple ID, and signed back in using her Apple ID. Everything appeared to work fine, all apps still launch, she's able to download new apps herself, etc. However, once a few apps tried updating, she received the message...
Update Unavailable with This Apple ID.
This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or canceled.
I get what's happening. The apps on her devices are tied to my account, and she's now trying to update those apps using her account. But as a member of Family Sharing, this should work. I'm thinking this is an oversight of Apple's in how the system works. Otherwise, the only way around this is to remove every app from her device and re-download them using hers. That's 100+ apps between her iPhone and iPad.
Any workaround to this? I've rebooted. Signed out of and back into iTunes. Not sure what else to try other than to just start uninstalling and reinstalling apps...

Yep you're not alone, I've got exactly the same issue.
Hoped 8.0.2 would resolve it but no.
Some apps are 'family' aware and update ok, others not. Can't delete and re download as iTunes still sees them in the family share.
Had to sign out of iTunes and sign into our old shared iTunes account to get the app updates to work. What a PITA.
Tried many things before, sign out/in of both iPhones, switch off/on of app sharing, remove and resign up for family share, but no joy.
Switch iTunes id, update, switch back, was the only fix I could find.

  • Update unavailable with this apple id on 1 month new mac?

    Hello,
I brought a mac mini md387 just last month in september 2014, from apple authorised reseller in quest mall, kolkata, india. It came with OS X mavericks, keynote 6.2 and many free software, when I asked them that If I will get free updates they said yes and created my apple id on the store to which I have a password.
The problem is I downloaded the OS X yosemite update, and it worked fine with my existing apple id, but whenever I open keynote6.2 It tells me that I have a free update to keynote version 6.5 on app store, but whenever I try to download this updated keynote version 6.5 I am given error message that "update is unavailable with this apple id".
I don't want my money to get wasted. I have the bill copy too.
    apple staff please help.

    problem solved. using this trick:
the problem was: i had earlier set my language to US English from original setting of UK English at website https://appleid.apple.com because I thought that it doesn't matter if i change language preferences, but it did and was the cause of the problem.
    solution:
    1. goto: https://appleid.apple.com and login using your iCloud/apple id and change language to UK English.. then save/apply whatever to change the settings
    2. shutdown to turn off mac and turn it on after sometime
    3. goto AppStore/Purchases section and you will find that you need to accept Keynote and other iWork etc apps by clicking on the Accept button, do it, it will ask for password, enter it, it will ask for password for each of those 6 apps, give it your apple id/password each time to accept.
    4. now you should be able to goto Updates section in App Store and update Keynote and other iWork etc apps by clicking on update buttons of each apps.

  • How to fix "Update Unavailable with This Apple ID"?

I am well versed in doing updates on the App Store for my Macbook Pro.  So, when an update for iMovie and iPhoto is pending, I went to the App Store application, clicked Update All (and also later one just Update for each app individually), entered the usual Apple ID which I've done several times.  I wait a few seconds and then it says
"Update Unavailable with This Apple ID.  This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled."
This is odd because I've only had one Apple ID ever associated.  I restarted the computer, logged in and out of iCloud, etc.  Still doesn't download the iMovie and iPhoto update for me.
Any suggestions or ideas what happened?  Help!

Please test after each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved. Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
Select the Purchases page in the App Store and locate the app(s) in your purchase history. If there's a button marked  ACCEPT on the right, click it.
    Step 2
If you're trying to update iLife or iWork apps that were installed from a purchased DVD, or if you have a refurbished Mac bought directly from Apple, contact App Store customer service for a redemption code. You may be asked for the part number of the DVD.
    Step 3
From the App Store menu bar, select
    Store ▹ View My Account
Enter your Apple ID password at the prompt. At the lower right corner of the window that opens, click the Reset button. Close the window.
    Step 4
If you have a used Mac, the bundled apps were linked to the original owner's Apple ID and can't be transferred to you. Reportedly, customer service has issued redemption codes to some second owners who asked, but it's not guaranteed.
    Step 5
Delete the app(s) you want to update and reinstall them.

  • Update Unavailable with the Apple ID - iPhoto

Since the minute I downloaded the new OS X Mavericks 10.9 my iPHOTO app on my iMAC has a white line through it and is not compatible. Then EVERY time I try to update it in the app store I get the same message that many others have received --->
Update Unavailable with This Apple ID
This update is for an app downloaded with a different Apple ID.
Sign in with that Apple ID and try again.
The iPhoto software came pre-installed on my iMac when I purchased it new in 2010 directly from the Apple store, so it was NEVER purchased or updated with a different Apple ID. And no one else has access to my account or my computer. I’ve never changed it my id. I started with Snow Leopard and have done all the operating system updates though now and iPhoto has always worked fine...until now. I have tried EVERY remedy posted on the support community thread and others, short of starting over and wiping my iMac clean. I was on the phone with 2 Apple advisors and a senior tech yesterday for 3 hours and no one could find a solution other than some apparent 24 hour self fix that some people are experiencing. Apple is supposed to call me back today to see if it magically fixed itself. Anybody else find any better solutions other than dropping my iMac off the top of a building?
On a side note...(even though I know they stopped updating it) my iWeb app, which I still have all my websites created on, is now not functioning correctly. The writing/ words on any particular web page within the app are all scrunched together. Again, even through all the operating system updates, iWeb has always worked fine...until now.
Thinking of backing up, wiping clean and going back to Mountain Lion...so far I'm not impressed with Mavericks.
Any help or other suggestions with this problem would be appreciated.

    FOUND A SOLUTION:
After 9 days back and forth with Apple and their senior advisors I finally spoke with one that was very helpful and would not quit until we resolved the problem. I tried EVERYTHING recommended on this thread and others, and NOTHING worked. The only solution right now is to have Apple Tech Support Senior Advisors contact iTunes to have them reset your App account. What FINALLY worked was:
-backing up my computer to an ext hard drive
-deleting iPhoto (drag it from the app folder to the trash) (Your iphoto home folder should still be saved in YOUR finder folder.)
    -empty the trash
-At this point, sign out of the App store and then back in. If you see that you are able to purchase or upgrade at this point then go for it. IF NOT, then you have to go further as did I, b/c the App Store still would not let me upgrade, download or even purchase iPhoto.
-Then the senior advisor had to get iTunes to reset my app store app from thier end.
-After they did that, the senior advisor provided me with a redemption code for the latest version of iPhoto that I typed into the REDEEM section of the app store.
-Then it downloaded and works just fine now.
So the problem seemed to be on the iTunes / App Store end of things. After the App tech was able to get iTunes techs to "reset" my account (log in, passwords and info stayed the same) everything went very smoothly.
It also has to do with people who purchased iMacs or Macbooks before the Mac App Store was introduced...or right around the same time it was. These legacy members who had the pre-install app DVD were not syncing up corerectly with the MAS and iTunes. Until they get the MAS and iTunes synced up and recogignizing the pre-install apps and software, this will continue to be a problem.

  • IPhoto won't update - "Update unavailable with this ID"

Dear all, I recently updated to Mavericks (OS X 10.9.1) and since then iPhoto and iMovie do not work. I especially need iPhoto, which is now covered by a crossed circle sign.
The available updates for both appear under "Updates" of the Apple Store app, but when click "update" it requests my passwork twice and then it says "Update unavailable with this Apple ID - This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled".
My Apple ID is unique, and I am using the correct one. The original iMovie and iPhoto came installed in the new MacBook when I bought it. It is a MacBook Pro 13-inch, Mid-2012.
    What can I do?
