Firewire card with multiple controllers

Quick question....
I am looking for a firewire card for connecting 2 cameras.  Will I be able to use a standard PCI-E card or will I need to look for one with one controller per port....  Most share a single controller voer multiple ports.  I've had problems int eh past with multiple ports on one card, but this may have been a PCI card with limited system bandwidth.....
Ideas anyone?
The cameras will be most likely 1280x1024 RGB cameras with 60FPS.
Cheers for any help forthcoming.

Nobody, no?
The cameras are actually monochrome, 8-bit not RGB (24-bit) and only go up to 30Hz.....
I mean theoretically a FW400 card should handle a 1024pixel x 1280pixel x 8bit x 30Hz (314 Mbit/s without overhead) picture no problem but adding a second camera will more than saturate the bus.....
Anyone know of a decent PCI-E FW card which has two ports with a seperate controller for each?  Please?

  • Programming multiple smart cards with multiple smart card readers in a PC causes a PCSCException in a smart card that is in progress

    Hi,
    I develop a Java code using smartcardio API to program a smart card. My GUI allows to add at most 5 smart card readers that will wait for card present, then do authentication and program the smart card with an application, then wait for card removal. This is a separate thread running in a loop for each smart card reader added as programmer.
    The problem occurs when a certain smart card is in progress and I inserted another smart card to another smart card reader.  Both smart card reader halts and throw sun.security.smartcardio.PCSCException: Unknown error 0x8010002f.
    I also observed that every time there is an attempt to insert/remove a smart card in the smart card reader that is connected to the USB port would cause the programming in progress to be interrupted and throw the PCSCException.
    These are some exceptions I got during my testing:
    sun.security.smartcardio.PCSCException: Unknown error 0x8010002f
      at sun.security.smartcardio.PCSC.SCardTransmit(Native Method)
      at sun.security.smartcardio.ChannelImpl.doTransmit(ChannelImpl.java:171)
    java.lang.Exception: Loader Record Failed: 6E | 0 //Sometimes I got this return code SW1 0x6E SW2 0x00 which means an APDU with an invalid 'CLA' bytes was received. I had check the command before it was sent and it was correct.
    Help me understand this issue. I think the CardTerminal.isCardPresent(), CardTerminal.waitForCardPresent(0), and CardTerminal.waitForCardAbsent(0) cause this issue that CardChannel.transmit(apduCommand) is interrupted or the smart card insertion/removal causes the CardChannel.transmit(apduCommand) is interrupted.

    Hi,
    when you work with one smartcard reader only usually you address the slot -1 that means "the first found".
    But to deal with multiple readers you have to use slots of course since one reader will be slot 0, next reader will be slot 1 and so on...
    So a credential object will be identified on a system by a couple
    <slot,alias>
    After that, the way to address slots (I mean the syntax) depends on the classes you are using...

  • Z68A-GD55(B3) Having problems installing firewire card with TI TSB43AB23 chipset

    Hi,
    I have a firewire audio interface and two PCI firewire cards from different manufacturers that both have the TI TSB43AB23 chipset which is generally considered one of the best to have.
    I originally had issues with one of these firewire cards in that the windows drivers wouldn't load properly so I bought a new PCI firewire card.
    The new card was slightly better but this is what happens:
    if i boot the system 10 times then:
     - one of those times the card isn't detected at all, even if it was detected fine and drivers loaded without error on the previous boot
     - two of those times the driver reports errors with the card and i have to uninstall then reinstall the driver
     - 7 of those times the card is detected and there are no problems with the driver but the firewire device connected to the card isn't detected on the system which means the PCI firewire card isn't working properly
    Then, one day it worked. And it worked for a week and it worked on the three different bootable partitions on my PC (all running win7 pro).
    Then, it stopped working, on all 3 operating systems all at once, and i'm now back to the scenario i described earlier.
    I know the firewire device works 100% because i've tested it on another MSI MB that has inbuilt firewire.  I'm not 100% sure about the firewire card but it is new and this has happened with two different firewire cards.
    Live update says everything is up to date.
    Thanks,
    Tim

    It could well be an incompatibility with the card.

  • Guest Access Certificates with Multiple Controllers

    So I have an interesting scenario to run by the group, I haven't done this but was wondering if anyone else had tried it.
    Scenario: is 5 WLC's running 6.0.188.0, One guest SSID, and One H-REAP guest SSID.
    WLC#1: SNMP Name is WLC01, Virtual Interface DNS Name is GWLC.somewhere.com, Virtual Interface IP is 1.1.1.1
    WLC#2: SNMP Name is WLC02, Virtual Interface DNS Name is GWLC.somewhere.com, Virtual Interface IP is 1.1.1.1
    WLC#3: SNMP Name is WLC03, Virtual Interface DNS Name is GWLC.somewhere.com, Virtual Interface IP is 1.1.1.1
    WLC#4: SNMP Name is WLC04, Virtual Interface DNS Name is GWLC.somewhere.com, Virtual Interface IP is 1.1.1.1
    WLC#5: SNMP Name is WLCDMZ, Virtual Interface DNS Name is GWLC.somewhere.com, Virtual Interface IP is 1.1.1.1
    So part 1 of my question is does the above configuration cause any issues with the controllers?
    Part 2 of my question is can you request a single SSL certificate for the hostname GWLC.somewhere.com and install it on all the controllers?
    The reason for having the certificate on all the controllers is because of the H-REAP Locally Switched SSID.
    Anyone have experience with this, input, thoughts?
    Thanks.

    I too have seen numerous cases on this.
    Bottom line is that as long as your HREAP Guests can resolve GWLC.somewhere.com through DNS (as 1.1.1.1), then this should work.

  • How can I produce a title card with multiple lines of text?

    When I drag "title, multiple lines" to my timeline, the second line appears in a smaller font. When I type all my text on a single line, the title appears in a teeny-tiny font. I want to be able to produce four or five lines of text, all in a readable font. Help!

    2 solutions:
    Costs money and takes work:
    Look for a title plug-in on geethree.com. There are free ones out there too.
    OR.
    Works right now:
    Type your title into the 'scrolling block' title.
    Drop it in and let it render.
    Play it back and pause it when the text is in the middle (or where ever you want it). Choose 'create still clip' from the edit menu. And blamo! You've got multiple lines of the same sized text.
    This might take some experimenting to find what font works best. Some get a little jaggy in the rendering process and look bit-mapped a bit when changed into a still.
    Give it a shot!

  • Can anyone help with a troublesome FireWire card reader

    I have an Addonics firewire card reader to transfer image files to my Macs. It has never been predictable about mounting on the desktop when I insert a card. I've used it with OS 10.2, 10.3 and now 10.4.8. I have the OS set to open Photo Mechanic when I insert a card, but most times, nothing happens. After trying various daisy-chain connections, I have the reader connected directly to the computer, but this hasn't helped.
    Usually, I have to disconnect the cable, then re-connect; I usually do this at the reader end, to save wear and tear on the computer port. Sometimes multiple attempts are necessary, but in the end, this procedure gets results better than anything else. I have tried a different cable, known to be good, with no improvement.
    I have a little utility called Spindown HD, which shows what's attached, and in fact, the reader shows up as connected, but sleeping. So, perhaps this is a "wake-from-sleep" problem instead.
    By the way, Addonics "support" was useless. Their site states that they offer no support on products over two years old. An email inquiry brought the response that they could do nothing to help. On service quality grounds alone, I have bought my last Addonics product.
    Do others have problems with getting FW readers to respond? This is driving me crazy, and wearing out ports or connectors.

  • I would like to use one library but with multiple ipods, but because they are my kids Ipods, and they each have their own gift cards, I'd like to be able to add money to their "profiles" without them having their own account - what is the best way

    So here is my delima - I want one Ipod account - because I only want one library - since we all like the same music - but my kids, who have their own IPODS, have gift cards, who want to be able to keep track of their balance without the other child affecting the balance - meaning - each gift card should be seperate and not totalled to the single account - Beacuse the library is fairly large, having three libraries of large amounts would be a waste.  I would also like to restrict their purchased to the gift cards only and not my credit card on file.  Does this make sense?  Once this is resolved, I'm assuming they would use their own playlists to copy their favorites to each Ipod.  Or would I set up an account for each child - which I dont want to do, because I dont want them having access to my Credit Card, and only gift card balances.  With multiple accounts, I'm assuming that would also build seperate libraries?  We also have multiple computers, but I share the library to those computers -
    What is the best way?  I'd like to be able to add credit to a specific child (birthdays, etc) without the other child being able to access that credit.  For simplicity sake.
    We are new to IPODS and lack any MAC skills.
    Thoughts?

    Not going to happen the way you want it to.
    When you add a gift card balance to the Apple ID, it's available for the Apple ID.
    Probably best to create unique Apple ID's for each... this will also make things easier in the future as purchases are eternally tied to the Apple ID they were purchased with.

  • Premiere Elements 9 crashes with multiple NVIDIA graphics cards under Windows 7

    I've just installed Premiere Elements 9 and found that it will not run at all with multiple NVIDIA graphics cards active under Windows 7.  Per all the other discussions, I updated the NVIDIA drivers and Quicktime support to the latest versions.  (NVIDIA version 260.99).  I have both a 9400 GT and an 8400 GS installed, to support multiple monitors.  They both use the same driver.  The PRE 9 organizer will run, but as soon as I create or load a project it quickly crashes.
    On a long shot I disabled the 8400 GS card in the Device Manager and now I can run PRE 9.  Of course this means giving up one of my monitors.  Any other ideas?

    Over in the Premiere Pro area (or maybe it was in the Hardware section... didn't pay a lot of attention 'cause it really didn't matter to me) I read a message about using two nVidia cards with no problems (other than no dual-card SLI support)
    I **think** that was with two SAME model nVidia cards
    And, of course, PPro is completely different code, so PreEl may simply not work with two nVidia cards

  • Keynote with multiple graphics cards

    Hello all
    I will try and keep this a brief as possible. I am currently finished of an AV install in a local Christian Centre. As part of this we have installed a video system for displaying notices and live feeds of services and events. One of the members of the church has purchased 2 PCs with the purpose of displaying 2 different sets of notices in the reception area and the main hall. However for reasons that I won't go into here they completely mess the system up causing all sorts of interference problems.
    As part of the install we are going to be supplying them with a Mac pro with final cut to record events and produce DVDs of them.
    My question is if we were to add a second graphics card and iWork could keynote be set to use this card for it's output? And if it were would it leave the main output free (showing the desktop) for other uses?
    I know that with dual output cards the second output can be set to either mirror of show notes but there is no info in the help about what happens with multiple cards that would provide 4 outputs.

    No, Keynote takes over all the screens when presenting, and I'd think if you tried to edit in FCP when you were also running a show (if you could) it would likely bog BOTH programs down badly.
    You could export your presentations into QT and have the QT player running on one screen, but still, if you fire up FCP, everything's a different ball game then.
    I suggest leaving the FCP system on its own, don't try to do multiple things with it at the same time.

  • Does Lightroom 5 (CC) support tethering for a Nikon D1x with a Firewire Card on Windows 7?

    Our company wants to use an older, but fully functional, Nikon D1x and tether it to a Windows 7 Workstation with Adobe CC and a FireWire card installed. Will Lightroom 5 recognize the camera and allow us to manage workflow in a tethered setup, complete with photo taking and instant importing?
    Thank you,
    Jim

    Hi Hal,
    Thanks for your response!
    I noticed that this list only shows versions of Lightroom 3 and above. Would a D1x have found compatibility with an older version of Lightroom? If so, might this compatibility be carried forward?
    In either case, what third-party applications might you suggest?
    Thanks a lot,

  • Target Mode with PCMCIA Firewire Card??

    Just bought a 17" PowerBook. Planned to use migration tool to move data and info from my old 15" TiBook. BUT!! My TiBook's internal Firewire port fried a couple of years ago and I've been using a PCMCIA Firewire card. Can you access Target Mode through an external Firewire card?? Doesn't seem so.
    When I boot with "T", it comes up in target mode, but migration tool doesn't recognize the target mode machine thru pcmcia firewire.
    Any solution?
    Jim

    If you are able to mount an external FW drive on your Ti's desktop using the PCMCIA adapter, then perhaps you can clone your TiBook's HD to the external and then use the external as a source drive for Migration Assistant. (You are able to use a bootable clone on an external FW drive as a source for Migration Assistant, in any case.)
    Good luck!

  • 7k vPC best practice with multiple line cards?

    I have a pair of 7k's that have a single line card with a 2 port vPC linked to a pair of 5k's, another 2 port vPC linked to the layer 3 VDC and a 4 port vPC used for peer link.  I recently added an additional line card to the 7k’s and want to add redundancy for the new line card.  Would it be best to simply remove one of the existing ports from each vPC on line card 1 and then include a port from the new line card?  For the peer link, my thought was to remove two ports from the existing port channel and then add back 2 ports from the new line card.  This way line card 1 and 2 will share the ports that make up the vPC’s instead of all of the vPC ports being on line card 1.  Does that make sense or is there a better way to implement line card redundancy after adding a new line card?
    Also, if I want to add some of the ports on line card 2 to the layer 3 VDC.  Can I run the allocate interface command without the fear of it removing any existing allocated ports?  I understand that the ports being moved/allocated to a different VDC will lose their current configuration.  I had a bad experience years ago using "switchport trunk vlan allowed" vs. "switchport trunk vlan allowed add" command so I just want to make sure the allocate interface doesn't require the "add" option!  :)
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    For adding new interface to port-channel:
    1. you can shutdown the new physical interface and put all the configure as existing member interface.
    2. add as port-channal member.
    3. Unshut the physical interfaces (new interface- module 2).
    4. Shutdown the physical interfaces (module 1) which you wanted to remove from the port-channel
    Moving interface from one VDC another VDC will erase the configuration on that  interface  . you could use allocate interface command to add new interface to the VDC but all the interface should be in same port group. Adding new interface to vdc will not affect existing interface configuration  .

  • Configure multiple network card with netcfg

    Hello Archers! I am a happy new user of Arch Linux . I wanna say that your community is really great, thanks to all the people giving help out there.
    My question is:
    I must configure two eth interfaces, I have the both configured but sometimes I need to change configuration for connecting to other network that needs only one network card with other IP. I would like to select the configuration trough the "NET_PROFILES=menu" line in /etc/rc.conf or with the "netcfg" command but I don't know how to configure TWO interfaces in ONE profile of the /etc/network-profiles/* files?
    Both networks have Static IP.
    I search on the forums and do not find anything useful. I'm sorry if is there something in other post that I doesn't read.

    TuxLyn,
    this netcfg profile works OK for me for a long time now:
    CONNECTION="ethernet"
    DESCRIPTION="Bridge: nVidia Corporation MCP55 Ethernet (rev a2)"
    INTERFACE=eth1
    #HOSTNAME="archabit64"
    IP="dhcp"
    DHCP_TIMEOUT=15
    DHCP_OPTIONS="-C resolv.conf"
    DHCLIENT=no
    POST_UP="ip addr add 192.168.2.115/24 broadcast 192.168.2.255 dev eth1"
    Of course, yours is more circunvoluted, but perhaps it helps.
    ip addr outputs:

  • Best Firewire card for PC?

    Hi Folks. What would all of you suggest as the best PCI Firewire card out there for a PC? Mine only has one port working and I need at the very least 2. So, I will be ordering one pretty soon.
    Any suggestions are appreciated.
    Thanks,
    VG

    To add a resource to this thread: http://www.firewiredirect.com/store/home.php
    I've bought many cards from this source (all sorts of configurations), and they have been a pleasure to deal with. Their prices seem fair, but I usually shop for product specs. and good service, before price.
    They offer some configurations, that I do not see from most card mfgrs. and several of these have fit my particular needs perfectly. Ease of ordering in nice, shipping always quick, but I've never had any problems, so I do not know about returns - would guess that they are good, but just have never had to return anything.
    I also recommend the FW-800 connections, as does Chuck. If one's BIOS can work with IEEE-1394b, and so can one's peripherals, it is a really fast connection.
    One comment on multiple devices on one FW connection: I have had great luck piggybacking (both FW-800 & 400) for HDDs. Though I have never experienced a problem, I do not do this for any camera, A->D converter, or even external DVD burners. OK, I did piggyback an external burner, with no problems once, or twice, but do not do this on a regular basis.
    Luckily my workstation has 4 separate FW busses on the MoBo and I use one of the FW-800 cards (from above source) for those 1394b connections. Never a complaint on any from a wide array of peripherals.
