FireWire connections not supported - randomly pops up

Hey. This is my 3rd ipod and the first one to have this problem. I have the 80gig 5th gen bought a few months ago. The problem I keep getting is that the FireWire connections not supported. To transfer songs, connect the USB cable provided message keeps popping up. It does this randomly and sometimes takes several clicks. When I hook it up to my monster fm transmitter in my car the problem worsesns when sometimes no matter how many times I click it will not go away.
Things I've tried
Resetting it, many times
Formating
basically those 5rs, I don't know wat else to try. I havent tried reinstalling itunes only because I seriously doubt this will fix the problem since it doesn't only happen when I connect it to my comp.
Can anyone help? I've seen this problem posted a few times with no response.
Thanks

The answer is simple-your iPod will not work with Firewire. It requires USB. I had a Firewire iPod(miss it dearly) and it will charge from the firewire cable but it will not connect to the computer or the dock.

  • Firewire connections not supported....

I had recently upgraded from a 20G to a 60G video. I honestly dont know what generation my first one is, but it is white and does not have a color screen...Anyway, on the older one, I am able to use firewire to load music from Itunes. When I tried to plug in the new one, using the same library, it says 'firewire connections not supported. Use the USB cable provided'. I am hoping there is a setting that I can flip to change this.

No you can't - the current release of iPods only support synching through USB.
FW accessoire can be used for battery charging only.

  • Additional data connections not supported.

    Hello,
I am currently using SharePoint 2013 and InfoPath 2013.
I want to create a drop down list in InfoPath that points to external data content (in this case a lookup table in SQL server).
The process works in the InfoPath "preview" mode, but when I go to publish it to my SharePoint website, I get the following error:
    "Additional data connections not supported."
I've also tried deploying the data source to my InfoPath Connection library on the SharePoint website and pointing it to that, but to no avail.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
One further thing to note is that I am limited to a non-HTML5 web brower so I can't use Light Switch.
    Kind regards,
    Joshua

    Hi Joshua,
Based on my research, we cannot add data connections to External List forms. They are not supported just like the error says. It's a limitation of InfoPath and there is no workaround for this issue so far.

  • Read-only connections not supported

We trying to set the JDBC connection as "read-only" and we are getting the following SQLException when calling Connection.setReadOnly( true ):
    setReadOnly: Read-only connections not supported
We are running Oracle 8i (8.1.7.4.0) with JDBC driver version 8.1.7.2.0.
Why this setting is not supported?
    Thanks in advance,
    - N. Thomassin

    N. Thomassin,
I wonder if a setting on the server has to change
to "enable" this feature...Sorry, I don't know. I suggest searching the Oracle documentation, the MetaLink Web site and the Ask Tom Web site.
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

  • Since updating to mountain line, error message "There was a problem connecting to the server. URLs with the type "file:" are not supported" keeps popping up

Since updating to Mountain Lion in the last week, an error message keeps popping up. The graphic is the button with 3 stick men holding hands and the message is "There was a problem connecting to the server. URLs with the type "file:" are not supported". Any solutions found?

Open the Time Machine pane in System Preferences. If it shows that Time Machine is ON, click the padlock icon in the lower left corner, if necessary, to unlock it. Scroll to the bottom of the list of backup drives and click Add or Remove Backup Disk. Remove all the disks, then add them back. Quit System Preferences. Test.

  • Sun Cluster & 6130/6140 thru switch with cross-connections not supported?

    Hi:
I noticed that the 6140 does not support cross-connecting the 2 controllers to 2 switches for higher availability when using Sun Cluster:
    http://docs.sun.com/source/819-7497-10/chapter3.html
Does anyone know why this restriction is there?
    Thanks!

Since there was no real answer to the question in this forum, I cross posted this issue to the cluster forum.
See http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5261282&tstart=0 for the full thread.
Basically, the restriction against cross-connections is no longer valid and the documentation should be updated to remove the note.
This is all a good thing, because I had my 6140's wired into my sun cluster environment via the 'cross-connections' method diagramed in figure 3-4. :-)

  • MacBook to HDMI Connect - Not Supported

I have been using the same HDMI cord connecting to my same MacBook for a year now.  I have enjoyed watching movies without a single problem.  Two software updates later and my HDMI cord says it is no longer supported.  I have read just about everything out there and have changed my remote settings, changed my display resolution on my MacBook and nothing works.  My television has not changed as it is a 1080p, but cannot quite figure out how a software update on my computer would throw off my HDMI displays.  I have tried a host of fixes, but nothing works.  Please help...

Connect to HDTV with mini DVI to HDMI adapter or cable should work.

  • "Internet Connect not supported on this architecture"

I recently installed 10.5.4 and there were 2 apps that had the circle with a slash mark through the icon (like the "no smoking" sign with the slash through the cigarette). Apple support said they never heard of such a thing and helped me download one of the apps, Airport Utility. I read on this forum where maybe the install disc tried to load the Windows version by mistake.
I just noticed that the Internet Connect app is the same way. Does anyone know where I can download the most recent version, or can it somehow be extracted from the install disc?
    thanks!

    Hi Lu-Maze,
I believe that Internet Connect Application was used in Tiger and was found in the Utilities Folder. I don't think it was carried over with Leopard, as I can't find it. Move it to the trash but don't empty and see if it causes any issues. I don't know how you managed to get it if you installed Leopard unless it was a hold over from Tiger if you just did the upgrade and not the erase and install.

  • Trusted connection not supported within designer

    Post Author: Jon80
    CA Forum: General Feedback
It would be helpful if the windows trusted connection for SQL Server is supported when creating database connections.
    Universe designer XI R2

Stupid question time.  is the dll on the same box as the report?, if not, do you need to add a ODBC connection to
the box runnning the Dll.   I have found, "in my world anyway" that my reports server, and my development server, must
have the same ODBC connection.  So, if my db connection on the CR servers name is    FoUrTh
I must create the same ODBC connection on the reports server, and it must also be named FoUrTh.   Fourth, would not work.

  • Pooled Connection not supported in oracle forms 11g

    Dear all,
I am using oracle from builder (11.1.1.4) and oracle database 11g Release 2. I can connect to the database from oracle forms 11g, when I use a dedicated or shared server connection mentioned in the tnsnames.ora file . But I want to use the oracle database 11g's new feature DRCP (Database Resident Connection Polling).
To do this a made a another POOLED connection (SERVER=POOLED) in the tnsnames.ora.I can connect to the 11g r2 database server from sqlplus using POOLED connection. But when I try it from form builder (11.1.1.1.4) it gives error with some unknown characters.
Then I tried it in linux frmcmp the message i got in terminal is can not *"Cannot obtain ORACLE version number"*
I have googled and also checked in metalink. But I got nothing. Thanks in advance for your help.

I don't think this feature is feasible for forms.
    Quoting the documentation from
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28310/manproc002.htm
Database Resident Connection Pooling (DRCP) provides a connection pool in the database server for typical Web application usage scenarios where the application acquires a database connection, works on it for a relatively short duration, and then releases it.
Forms keeps a permanent connection to the database, so a connection pool isn't gonna help you in any way.
    cheers
