    "L'erreur -1074360296 s'est produite à : IMAQdx Configure Acquisition.vi
    Raisons possibles :
NI-IMAQdx: (Hex 0xBFF69018) Insufficient transfer engine resources."

You still want to apply the hack in order for Premiere Pro to use your card for GPU acceleration.
With Premiere Pro closed, delete the following file. Then reopen Premiere Pro and in Project Settings, ensure that you have it set for CUDA.
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro CC\cuda_supported_cards.txt

Applejack is just a command-line "front-end" for a number of different command-line tools you can use in single-user mode, and I'm not sure whether it's Lion-compatible.  You can always try booting into single-user mode and executing:
    /sbin/fsck -fy
That's unlikely to solve your problems, though.  Since you can't boot from two different hard drives and your optical drive, that indicates there's a more serious hardware issue, or multiple hardware issues.

  • Can't get 2 firewires to mount at the same time

i just bought 2 500 gb externals to set up a raid, and i can get either one to show individually, but not at the same time- either by daisy chaining or using separate ports. the second will even show up if the first is off when they are daisied. i don't know for sure that i've ever used 2 at once, but am fairly certain i have. the ports all work individually- both 400's and the 800. i tried 1 800 and 1 400 at the same time, and daisied with 800 main + 400 daisy and 800 main + 800 daisy, all to no avail. nothing wrong with the cables- i cross checked. it's flakey mounting and dismounting, too (for instance, stuff disappears once dismounted and won't reappear til i reboot, even if i restart the device).
i reformatted both drives to mac journalled. i searched and have followed the instructs to reset the firewire ports, repaired permissions (many times) zapped the pram, and shut down the comp for 15 mins, inc the power, without any other devices attached to troubleshoot each drive, all to no avail. one strange thing- even the 400 ports showed as 800's in the profiler. only one at a time will show there, as well- whatever is mounted (or the first i mount; the second doesn't show). i should note i had a drive go bad on the 800 port not once but twice in the past year, and assumed it was the drive (it was used), but now i'm wondering if the port's funky. do they go bad and how hard are they to replace?
i don't really want to have to reload my system- i have an awful lot of software loaded and am in the middle of a busy time, plus i suck at that. i'm getting ready to add a couple gigs of ram to speed things up, too. it should be here tomorrow. i'm a retoucher and work on big files that need backed up regularly, which is why i'd like to do the raid and just work off it. i'm not on tiger- have been waiting for leopard, and was so mad when they pushed it back, since it means i have to wait on cs3, too, which really hurts my business. but i'll be darned if i upgrade now and then have to pay again in 3 months. i wish they'd offer the upgrades at half price this close (or do like other co's do and upgrade for free within a reasonable amount of time- not 7 days). any advice i haven't tried? please?
    G5   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   dual 1.7 mh; 1GB ram; 2, 250's hard drive

ok- i will try to answer what i can, but bear with me- i'm really good at what i do, but this ain't it. some of what you asked i don't know where to find the answers to. to start, the drives are western digital my book pros, 500 gb each. they support firewire 400, 800 & usb. the old drive that failed twice was a lacie 500 gb, too (with the metal case- don't know the official name off the top). i have pro friends who have similar setups with no issues (and am seeking advice from them as well).
i have a 1.8 mh dual, but i do have 8 ram slots, and i wouldn't want to deal with a mac book pro. retouching just doesn't work well with laptops, and i don't travel so i'd have no need. when i'm ready to get a new system, i want an intel quad. hoping i can push that off a year or 2, with the ram additions and raid.
i'm not using pci fw800 card adapter. my friend says he thinks a hardware raid solution like the la cies that run off a SATA card would work better, but he was curious if i can do what i want with the PCI-X card and the drives i have (since i don't want to return them or spend huge amounts more of moolah). so, do you know if i did get one if it would make the raid work? or would a 400 card be better? i'm not a photog filling a tb with each job (which my other refs are) so i don't need the huge volume of space that they do. but i do work on some pretty big files at times, and it can add up quickly. i think a terabyte raid would hold me for quite a while- which is why i did the 2 500's.
when i unplugged the machine and left it down for 15 mins, i unplugged everything, inc power cord, except the mouse and monitor cable, per instructions i found through the apple site.
normally i don't care to be on the bleeding edge and wait a little while to get new software, but it seems like i've waited so long, and leopard has so many features i think would be great. my buds agrees with you that getting the stable os is the best bet, and that i'm being too cheap. i guess that's the next step then, huh?

let me know if i answered what you wanted, and if there are more ?'s. i haven't had a chance to try both 400's at once yet since i'm mid-job that i can't close right now.
thanks so much for your advice.

  • Recording to external hard drives - Firewire 800 problems

Ok so i did post a similar thread on this in the "mac mini" part of the website so im very sorry for double posting but I thought since this problems pertains mostly to recording and specifically recording on garageband, that I would try posting here as well. Heres my deal:
I am a musician working with garageband and I have always been recording to my internal drive until recently. I was unaware until I read some posts here from the good people like you guys, that that is not a good idea to record to your internal drive. So, I got an external firewire 800 drive (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001DGZ05A) and this cable (http://www.amazon.com/2M-Firewire-800-9PIN-Cable/dp/B000XQILWK/ref=pdbxgy_e_imgb). When I received it, I first used disk utility and reformatted it for Mac OS Extended Journaled. Then I proceeded to move a couple sample libraries and my entire "Garageband" folder (with my saved songs in it) to the external. I instantly knew something was wrong. The files were taking forever to get written over. It took about 15 mins for a 5GB folder to be moved over. I was already discouraged. Anyway, I plugged in the USB cable that came with the external (the drive has hook ups for both USB 2 and firewire 400/800) and tried moving the same files and it was MUCH faster. The same 5GB file was moved over in a matter of minutes.
I then tried recording to the drive (using firewire again) and it would hardly even PLAY the song without stopping every couple seconds (too many effects error, and yes ALL the tracks were locked). Tried to record as well and i'd get even less time before garageband would stop the song with the same error. So I disconnected firewire and went USB. Thru USB the song didnt stop once, not on playback OR recording. Then I moved the songs back to my internal and played them (and recorded) with no problem either.
I ran a couple tests on the drive using AJA system test and came back with these results:
Basic test of read/write speed using firewire 800:
    write - 14/mb sec
    read - 21/mb sec
    then, using usb 2.0
    write - 18/mb sec
    read - 37/mb sec
both these connections seemed to be running slower then they should ..but at least the USB connection would actually let me play a song and record to it without stopping
I manually copied over a 2.04GB file and via firewire 800 connection it took 2 mins and 20 secs. Via the USB 2 connection it was 55 seconds! ..also, while i transfered the files i noticed that the USB transfer was nice and steady with tiny increments of the file being transferred. Firewire, however, was speedy then slow, speedy then slow. Very inconsistant transfer speed throughout the process. kind of choppy
So what gives? I cant figure out if I'm doing something wrong, or if my external HD is bad? Or the cable is bad? Or maybe the firewire port on my mac mini is bad (i've never used it before for anything other than this external drive). Or i'm thinking maybe my processor isnt strong/fast enough to record to the external firewire drive? Im working with a mac mini 120GB internal HD and the 2ghz intel core 2 duo with only 2GB ram (i know thats not ideal for recording and im planning to upgrade at some point, but i have been recording to the internal just fine with the RAM i have now and never had a problem until trying to record to the firewire drive). I was going to go out today and get a new cable and see if that was the cause of it. Anyway sorry for the book-length post! But PLEASE SOMEBODY help me here! ..as i said, im not very computer literate and only just started producing music using computers so please use dummy terms lol ..thanks in advance

Strictly my opinion, and more than happy to be educated with facts and convinced otherwise... but, there are no dangers.
Bottom line is this... does your specific computer setup encounter ANY problems during recording or editing with your chosen software and current workflow? If not, then there is nothing wrong. Simple as that. Further, if you are having problems, then its more than likely dealt with by upgrading RAM amount and internal HDD speed and size. If you have a slightly older machine that is pre FW800, you will find by bench marking your HDD's that an upgraded internal system HDD will significantly outperform any external HDD read/write spec's. Even with FW800, comparing apples with apples, your system HDD will more than likely have better spec's. Please however, do not take my word for this, but try it out for yourself. Make sure you have facts about your own system rather than believing my claims or anyone else's claims. I used Intech's Quickbench http://www.speedtools.com/QuickBench.html to get some facts about my machine.
There will be an argument made that you will be putting strain on your hard drive by recording to the system drive because it not only has to deal with this function but also with other functions related to your audio programs and OS. Apparently you may be working it on the 'hard' side and shorten its life span. Probably technically correct but practically speaking you will more than likely never even notice any such strain. If you are worried about a system HDD crash or death because you are working it too hard then the answer to this is a well planned back up regime. You should have one anyway, regardless of setup.

  • Problème DAQmx buffer + convertion

    Bonjour,

    Merci

  • Firewire + external audio hardware problem (6-pin)

    Hi,
I'm also having problems with the 9-pin firewire port on my recently bought 13" Macbook Pro. I have a Hercules 16/12 External Soundcard with 6-pin firewire which works perfectly on my white Macbook with 6-pin firewire port.
    On the Macbook Pro:
Yesterday the audio played normally (f.e. iTunes) for a few seconds and then the device crashed, no sound anymore till I restart the device. Today it looked like it worked, it doesn't crash and kills the sound, but there is a constant crackle noise on the audio... I tried different sample-rates, resetting the SMC (I read that somewhere on here), I still have to check if the problem could be a faulty 9-pin to 6-pin firewire cable I bought, but I don't think that's the problem.
There is nothing wrong with the audio device, because it still functions correct on the older Macbook with the 6-pin firewire port.
Anyone out there with other suggestions of what might solve this problem?
    Thanks.

The original FireWire specification, FireWire 400 (1394a), supported a maximum distance between devices of 4.5 meters (cable length). FireWire 800 supports a maximum distance between devices of 100 meters (cable length).
Unibrain says they can exceed the FW 400 4.5 meter cable length because their cables not only achieve a very controlled 110 Ohm impedance but also provide high performance for skew, attenuation and crosstalk. These latest features were not prerequisites when the first IEEE-1394/1395 specification was issued, at the time limiting the maximum cable length to 4.5 meters. Therefore they can now secure safe operation of their Firewire 400 cable lengths up to 10 meters.

  • Create Firewire install of Tiger...

    Hey there,
I want to create an installation of Tiger on a firewire hard drive. I've already cloned the disc image to a partition on my hard drive, but when ever it reaches the "blue screen" it shuts down. I am guessing that it figured out that it's not a CD/DVD and kicks me off. I was wondering if anyone has a tip for me. Thanks!
      Mac OS X (10.4.3)

To avoid scratching disks, keep them inside jewelcases, and handle them by the edges and the finger inside the inner ring with dry clean hands. Don't lay the disk on any rough and/or unclean surface.
You can't use a copy of Tiger on more than one computer at a time (except for a backup), unless you buy a family license. I suggest reading your license agreement.
If you need an emergency boot disk with utilities to test other drives from, there are several cloning software like Superduper, Silverkeeper, Disk Utility, Dantz/EMC Retrospect and Carbon Copy Cloner. You can find them on http://www.versiontracker.com/ Only Firewire drives are known to be able to boot Mac OS X. That means the newest iPods which rely on USB can't be used.
Be sure to use a version which has been tested with the operating system you are cloning.

Small clarification on Step **6) Oracle Home Directory, ...a) Resize the Root Partition**
Ubuntu 11.10 has Gparted available as a Ubuntu software download, DONT use that while trying the above step, instead download the ISO file from http://sourceforge.net/projects/gparted/files/gparted-live-stable/ gparted-live-0.12.0-5.iso (124.6 MB)
Burn that ISO file on a Blank DVD, reboot the Ubuntu , during startup select Boot from DVD Option if not already selected. this will take to Boot Menu Options of Gparted Live then select the first menu option, and this allows to do further action such as Re-sizing .
and once you have chosen and executed step a) . do NOT run step b) also that is "Setup External Storage"
I hope this minor clarification can avoid some confusion

  • Installing a Firewire port into a G3 IMAC

A G3 CRT IMAC with OS9.2 was donatd to our little cable TV station.
It has USB ports, but no Firewire ports. However there seems to be some sort of access expansion hatch.
Question: Is it possible to install a Firewire port on a G3 IMAC of this vintage?
We do community TV and would like to use it as a simple off-line editing computer.
    Thanks,
    Dave Gordon
    Olympia, WA

If this is a tray-loading iMac, you might still be able to find one of Sonnet's Harmoni processor upgrades which also includes a Firewire port. But it's probably not worth the money unless you could find one really cheap. Newer iMacs with Firewire ports show up on eBay regularly for under $100.00, and eMacs frequently appear well under $300.00.

  • Problème utilisastion Solidworks Labview

    Bonjour,

  • Firewire camcorder connection

After working the first time I used it, the Imac (lion) will no longer recognize my camcorder via firewire connection. Is there a fix for this?

    From the Micro$oft Knowledgebase article:
    >This problem occurs if you connect a 1394a or 1394b FireWire device to a 1394b port. This problem occurs because Windows XP SP2 changes 1394b ports to S100 speed when you upgrade.
Are you using a 1394b Firewire port? Most folks are not. And, even if you were, the miniDV capture negotiates a speed that is appropriate for the device. Since miniDV transfer speed is slightly less than 30 Mb/s the Firewire hub will always connect at the S100 or ~100 Mb/s speed.

  • XP  patch for Firewire camcorder connection

This may help people whose XP wont detect their camcorder on Firewire, or have other problems with it.
(I expect this has been on the forum before, but I couldnt find it on a topic search.)
Apparently, Service Pack SP2 can interfere with Firewire, & Microsoft issued a patch to solve it.

  • FireWire 800 - Not Mac Compatible?

    Hi there,
Recently, my sister's 13" MacBook Pro had some hard drive issues and long story short, she bought a new drive to fit in the MBP.  Luckily, I managed to snag a complete image of the drive to copy onto the new, larger drive.
    To do this, I was just going to use a FireWire 800 cable and target disk mode to copy the image back to the drive through Disk Utility but I don't own such a cable.  Cheapest and simplest one I could find was on eBay here;
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FIREWIRE-800-to-800-9-Pin-to-9-Pin-Cable-Lead-/2006249 78688?pt=UK_Computing_FireWire_Cables_Adapters&hash=item2eb62e3b00
First thing that struck me is that it mentions "Not Mac Compatible".  It's only the sake of a few pounds but I don't want to end up getting this cable, waiting on delivery and finding it not working.  I have an older 800 to 400 cable that I never seemed to get working either, so I'd rather not chance it.
I consider myself rather computer savvy but cannot fathom why the cable wouldn't be "Mac compatible"; a cable is a cable, right?
(I understand some cables have circuitry in, ala Thunderbolt, but wasn't aware FW does/did).
Am I being dumb here or is the guy just playing me for a fool?
    - Jamie

According to the manufacturer website - "These cables are designed to be 100% compatible with Apple Firewire."
If you really want to know the compatibility of the cables, call the manufacturer - http://homeavcables.com/32033-15.html
