FireWire solution #3...should at least work, technically.

Folks have been providing cable-based solutions on this forum, but those do not translate data back and forth. Here's one potential solution for dealing with the firewire conversion.
1. Get an ExpressCard USB adaptor, such as the one in the link below (Yes, works on the Mac):

2. Get an ExpressCard FireWire port and plug it into the adaptor:

That should provide the proper conversion for getting FireWire devices recognized, though I've not seen folks test them out. There are some limits to the USB to ExpressCard adaptors, which wont work with some PCIe-based expresscards...dunno if that would play a role with the firewire expresscards though.

Looking around I found a website that said this:
"ExpressCards using the PCI Express (PCIe) portion of the ExpressCard standard include very high performance devices like FireWire 800 and eSATA host adapters."
It doesn't say firewire 400, but my guess would be that there is a good chance that even a 400 express card may not be compatible with this cool looking adapter found.
someone would have to find the specifics on the 400 express cards in question before trying it out. I wouldn't hold my breath. Hate to be pessimistic. This was the most promising looking workaround yet.
edit: Yup, reading some descriptions of the firewire 400 cards on some sites it says "Utilizing the performance of PCI Express" so this "workaround" will not give firewire to the MacBook.
Firewire just is not compatible on the USB bus no matter how much we want to believe it, at least not with any current tech out there I've been finding.

Does 2 firewire audio and video interface can work together on FCP ?

My audio interface is a TC Electronic Konnekt 24D
my video interface is a Canopus ADVC 110
my hard drives are plugged in firewire too
and I use Final Cut Pro 5.0.4
So, the konnekt is recognized by FCP only when the Canopus is not plugged. And even then, the audio sometimes drop out and sometimes causes the app to crash, so that I have to trash the preferences
When I plug the Canopus, the Konnekt 24D is recognised by OS X but not FCP
I want to use the voice over tool with the konnekt 24D, so what should I do ?
Does 2 firewire audio and video interface can work together ?
If so, maybe I only have a driver problem from TC Electronic.
But if not, I have to change this interface. Let me know if only RME, MOTU, Presonus and Edirol work, as it is said on apple's webpage for hardware compatibility

Ok. So an audio interface can be plugged to FCP without crashing the app. Because of the Konnekt driver problem, I wasn't shure of this.
I use my Aja box for export & external monitoring.
All my audio sources run back into the Tascam and I
use the analog mixer in the 1082 to monitor different

When I view external video, the audio follows it to
keep sync.
that's exactly what I want with other I/O interfaces. I'd like to monitor video with the canopus ADVC 110, and monitor audio with the Konnekt 24D (or another interface if this one is not compatible)
I also imput dailies with a deck or a camera (DV or HDV) but that's not the point here.
I want to imput audio with the Konnekt 24D because of its audio quality. Not audio sync to video dailies. But voice over, in sync with FCP video playback (for me, tha ADVC 110)

I have been trying for months to put iTunes on my laptop and kept getting installation errors in Windows 7. I gave up and just installed iTunes on my PC running XP.
Now I have to install Quicktime on the laptop and once again I get an installation error 0x800736FD.
All windows updates are fine, none failed.
I have removed all apple software from my laptop using CCleaner, common files and folders. Tried reinstalling and still the same error.
Could you offer any advice on how to get both quicktime and then iTunes working??

My iPhone 4s is having troubles with the Nike app. It appears greyed out on my settings screen & when I finally am able to see the app on my home screen it crashes within a few seconds. I have tried all the Apple suggested solutions and they do not work.

I have tried reseting my phone many different ways and updating all the software. Nothing works the app continues to crash. Apple says in another thread to someone else to follow third party app solutions but those do not work as you cannot delete and re-download a pre-loaded Apple app...... Any help would be necessary as I just bought the sensor from Apple, and now my phone won't connect.
Seems like a waste of money, since the products are made by the exact same company I expect them to work. I have also noticed that other people have had this problem and have also been unable to solve it.

Firewire port on Macpro won't work with my Sony DV Cam

I just got my Macpro and love it-but I do have a small problem that maybe somebody can help with.
I have a Sony PD100A. I was using this camera on my PC just up until last week and grabbing video via firewire into Premier. It all worked fine.
On my Mac, I plug into a firewire port, and neither iMovie or FCpro can capture from the camera. I seems to recognize the camera, but when you try to capure video, it just locks up.
I also have a firewire hard drive that I'm using to tranfer data from my PC to the Mac-it works just fine. Which leads me to believe somehow the camera isn't working with the Mac.
HOWEVER-I use a Digidesign Digi 002 rack attached to a firewire port on the back. The 002 has a passthrough firewire port on the back, so I hooked up the camera. Lo and behold, the Capture now works. But only by going through the 002.
I'd really like to be able to capture video by just plugging my camera inot the fron Firewire posts after I shoot some tape.
Does anybody have an idea why the front or rear firewire ports won't control or capture from my camera directly?

1) Open a new user account and see if it works there
2) Reset PRAM and NVRAM…

Then it sounds like the FW800 to 400 adapter just gets in the way. You don't have FW800 case? on my MDD G4 I added and used FW800 controller and cases from OWC and Sonnet.

The Finder shouldn't show an empty optical drive. If the disk gets automatically ejected, there may be problems with the drive, or you may be inserting a blank CD or DVD into a drive incapable of burning it.

Have you tried re-booting your WiFi router ? It may seem OK on your PC, but a re-boot may help.

sounds like you broke the display when you dropped it. There's nothing we users here can do for you.
Since the iPhone warranty does not cover accidental damage, you will have to pay to have your phone repaired or replaced. You can bring it into Apple for an out of warranty exchange in the country of purchase, or you can find a 3rd party iPhone repair store in your area.

You need to check the FAQ section on their website - there is a link contained to check on compatibility. Here is an excerpt:
