FIrewire to FME - 4 feeds / 1 server?

Hello smart people.
I am at the end of my rope, I have vendors claiming they sold
my client the right stuff, Im pretty sure they didnt, So I am here
to see if I can get a more accurate, useful, impartial answer.
The hardware:
Server
- Dual Xeon 2.4 (dual cores) with 2 gigs of RAM.
- 2x 3 port firewire pci cards
Camera Interface
- Analog to Firewire conversion being done by 4 Canopus
ADVC55 boxes
Canopus
ADVC55
Software on the server
- Adobe Flash Media Streaming Server 3
- Flash Media Encoder
The way its all connected
4 cameras connect to the 4 canopus boxes.
The 4 canopus boxes connect to 4 of the 6 Firewire ports on
the server.
Now, what Im running into.
When I launch FME I only see 1 of the 4 video feeds. I have 3
(instead of 4) choices of video source, but all 3 items on the list
show the same camera view. If I unplug all the cameras before
launching FME I see nothing of course (yeah I expect that, hang
on.). I then plug in one feed to the firewire, and I see that
camera. Ok All good so far.
I stop FME, I plug in the second camera, I now see 2 feeds to
choose from, but both show the second feed I plugged in. So it
seems I cannot get it to see each individual feed, just that there
are multiple. And it seems that only 3 will be seen even if 4 are
plugged in.
If I try to launch a second instance of FME I see a message
that FME is already running, so a second instance is not looking
like an option.
So, what am I missing, or what docs should I be reading?
Thanks for any assistance. Hopefully I didnt leave anything
out.
~frustrated.....

that's fine..
The winnov 4400 card replaces all the wiring and the 4
canopus boxes.
It is only one card but is being recognized as 4 different
inputs.
You can fire up multiple instances of FME on one box, the
maximum I was able to run on a dell Poweredge was six instances
with 2 cards in one box.
I could have done more, but I wanted to walk on the safeside.

Did you choose the H4 input channel in the track info?

  • Lost Firewire suport during upgrade OS X Server 10.3.9

After loading OS Xserver 10.x install discs on my Dual G4 Quicktime Broadcaster worked fine and the 400 firewire port worked. However, after performing all the "APPLE RECOMENDED UPGRADES" I now have no firewire port working. Thus quicktime broadcaster or does Quicktime "PRO" 7.1.1." work anymore from my firewire port. I've repaired permissions and performed a single user fsck on the drive. The Software has been reloaded several times with same result. Firmware is up-to-date on the G4. Verified my DV firewire source on my G5 and works great! Can't think of anything else to try.
I see previous lost firewire questions have gone unresolved or un-answered. Does anyone have a fix?

Thanks, I didn't think of resetting the pram and nv ram. That was a good suggestion. However, it didn't help. I also booted the G4 as a firewire drive and connected it to my G5 and that worked. So now I'm totally confused.
Does anyone know any unix commands for checking the firewire port status. I'm starting to think there is a pgm conflict.

  • Weird: cannot process atom feed, because server return 200

I submitted an atom feed to newsstand, and the second day I found this in my inbox.
Does anyone know what is going on? Server returns 200 should mean "OK"…

Thanks, I checked the URL and the data, no problem was found so far…
And I also tailed the server log, turns out that only some of the data were visited. My server is in China, so it looks more like an «operation time out» now.
Now I'm putting those data on a server based in US, hopefully it will work.

  • Can I tether 9 PowerMac g5's running osx 10.5.6 via FireWire to act as one giant server?

Hello, I currently have 9 PoweMac G5's and one 1st generation Mac Pro laying around, all running OS X 10.5.8 and I wanted to know I it would be possible to install OS X server on all of them and tether them together via FireWire to run as one server.

It depends on what you mean by tether and one giant server? One Giant Server is a question that potentially covers a lot of ground and unless you give more specifics on what your thinking is it's not one that's easily answered.
However using firewire allows connectivity over TCP/IP or Target Disk Mode (TDM). As you know TCP/IP is a network protocol and TDM offers functionality for using the connected computer as an externally connected hard drive and not much else on the active mac the other macs are connected to. I suppose you could 'design' a network that has all 10 macs connected and 'clustered' in a way that harnasses processing power on all of them (think SETI program) to do the limited specific tasks OSX Server supports. Anything more would be dependant on your skills. But then why would you use firewire when ethernet would be the more obvious and faster thing to use anyway.
I think the 'best' you can do to run them as one giant server over firewire is to TDM them to your most powerful mac (the MacPro) and simply share the hard drives. But why would you do that? It would be more efficient and cost effective to simply load the four drives bays on your MacPro with the largest drives it supports (2TB or 3TB) and use those instead.
Either way all you'd have would be a single file server and not much else.

  • Firewire or USB for Home Media Server

I have an iMac (2008) that I am going to use as an iTunes server for streaming to AppleTV. Since the iMac only has a 320GB drive, I am planning on buying a new external hard drive to which I will transfer all of my media, which I will always leave connected to the iMac (I will just point the iMac's library to the media on the drive).
My question is whether I should consider FireWire 800 or USB 2.0 as the external drive. I know most macs these days no longer come with FireWire, and in the case that I end up getting a new computer in the next year or two, I'd rather have a drive that utilizes USB 3.0 and have that faster option in the future.
That being said, if the stream quality to the AppleTV is going to be so poor that I hate it (using the USB 2.0), then I would consider a FireWire 800. Does anybody have any experience with this?
Also, it should be noted that all of my devices will be wired to the local home network (not wireless).
    Thanks for the advice.

Personally, I don't think it matters. FireWire 800 is capable of almost 800 Mb per second and while USB 2 is theoretically capable of 480 Mb per second it only has an effective throughput of 280 Mb per second. If you have other uses for this drive, the difference between FireWire and USB may well be worth considering, however if you are just going to use it for movies to play to your Mac/Apple TV, you should remember that these movies will need no more than 10 Mb per second in order to play without issue.

  • Install Leopard Server Onto Mac Mini via Firewire Target Disk Mode?

From the answers I have seen, so far anyway, the short of it is this can be done. Other than partitioning the Mini's hard drive as a GPT, which I don't know how to do.
Is there anyway to install via firewire target disk mode? The Server Assistant on my MacBook Pro wants to connect to the Mini via a network connection... but, the Mini has no monitor and no OS installed (it has an empty 500 GB hard drive). Thus, I can't get them to talk to each other over a network connection, can I?
I could try and plug it into a monitor and install locally, but the Install disc is on my MBP and currently it is in Firewire TDM, with the Mini's hard drive mounted on the Pro.
I don't want to have to get a monitor to do this... The Mini is brand new 1.83 with 2 GB of RAM and a Samsung 500 GB internal hard drive. It is mounted and the Server Installer sees it, but cannot use it because it just sees it as a firewire drive (the installer won't install to these drives I guess).
    Any suggestions?

you can configure it using server admin and workgroup manager running on another machine. you can also use screen sharing/ard if you need to see what you're doing. as long as it has a valid address on the lan, you can configure it. just be sure to give it a static address is you're going to use it as a server.
you could have installed the os from your dmg with the mini booted in target disk mode, too. the installers are in /System/Installation/Packages. you should be able to run them by double-clicking the OS installer or using the /usr/sbin/installer command from the command line.

  • Neboot, 10.5.2 image from OSX Tiger Server fails to new macbooks

(I apologize in advance, I looked through several threads but could not find answer
to my situation. I also apologize because I tried to get help at the Bombich forum,
but an admin marked it "solved", when in fact it isn't.
Thus I turn to the Apple faithful for help with this matter.)
Using NetRestore 3.4.3, and I'm imaging MacBook (early 2008) labs,
    with 26 MBs in them.
How I Do it: I get one MB, and using Leopard from OEM, I then patch
up to Leo 10.5.2/QT 7.4.5/Safari 3.1 and I install the elementary apps
necessary ( Kid Pix 3, Kidspiration 2, and Nystrom).
I also install Office 2004, patched up to 11.4.1, and iWorks 08.
I verify the image is correct, and then firewire connect the MB
to my Master machine, a MBP running 10.5.2 and NetRestore 3.4.3.
I then create the NetRestore image from the MB, and then create the NetInstall
nbi for the image. I then copy the items from the MBP to my imaging server,
a PPC iMac running OS X Server 10.4.11, via FW.
I then set the Netboot options in the Server, and reboot the server for good measure.
I then start hooking up the 25 MBs into a Cisco 2950 switch, which the
Server is hooked into. I then boot all machines into NetBoot ( cmd-n)
and image ( slowly) all the machines.
    The Problem:
Once the images have been created on the machines, and after reboot,
I then log into as the local admin, then set the server binding.
Once the binding is complete, I log out, and then verify the binding sticks.
I then log in as a managed user.
This is where the image "breaks". The managed user becomes locked out
of most Universal apps, and apps that should run under Rosetta,
come up with their icons changed to the "ghostbusters circle"
(Circle with line through it), and give the error " This application cannot run
due to it not being supported on this architecture".
However, if I log back in as local admin, the applications act as normal.
Also, if I log in or log out as a managed user, the system often hangs,
either at login or logout, leaving me with just the Leopard space screen,
and will sometimes force me to force quit the
system to get it to respond again.
Contacting Apple, their only suggestion was to start again, but to use SUI
from a Leopard Server Disc, which I didn't have but they were nice enough
to send to me anyway, and create the NetBoot off of that.
I decided however to give NetBoot one more try, and tried it again,
this time making sure I repaired permissions on the original image
(MB) before making the NetBoot image in NR 3.4.3.
I still recieve the same problems afterwards.
I then did a test in which I created both a second local admin account and
a local standard account, and both acted like a managed account:
apps could not be used, "ghostbuster circles" and log in/ log out hangs.
I'm hesitant to use Leopard SIU, because I read all the reports of it's slowness,
but is there something in 10.5.2 that breaks Netbooting?
I've had no problems with Tiger Images in the past, so I'm pretty sure
    i got my steps down.
    Update in my testing :
Today I decided to try and troubleshoot the image again, so this time
I took the existing MacBook I used to make the image from,
and I re-installed the problematic applications again,
as well as delete the secondary admin and the standard user
from my config, as I would add these later after the computers
    have been imaged.
I then ran fix disc permissions on the image drive, and now I am using
Net Restore 3.4.4, to remake the image andwhen done, I will re- create
    the nbi for the netinstall.
I will test out the image shortly to see if it will work.
    ok, follow-up:
after completing my new image and re-creating through NetRestore 3.4.4,
as well as new nbi's, I copied them over FireWire to my OS X Tiger .4.11 Server.
Set Netboot in Server Admin, made the Leopard image the default, restarted
    the server.
Attached a new MacBook IC2D 2.4ghz to my Cisco Switch that the Server is on,
    and attempted NetBoot.
Net Restore came on and began it's duty. 36 mins later, the image was on,
verified, and the machine was rebooting.
Upon reboot, I logged into the MacBook, as the primary admin,
and verified the UniBi apps and the PPC apps would launch correctly.
I then created the Standard account ( Student) on the machine,
and the logged out and then back in as Student to test.
All Privalges for Student were correct, and the UniBi and PPC apps functioned
    correctly.
I then logged out as Student , back in as Primary Admin ( me) and then
went to System Prefs and created the Secondary Admin (Teacher) for
    the machine.
I then logged out as Primary Admin, and then logged in as Secondary
Admin, and verified the UniBi and PPC apps would launch.
I then recieved the "This App is not supported under this architecture"
error with the UniBi and PPC apps under this secondary admin.
I logged out, and then logged back in as Primary Admin (me), and everything
still was working correctly under my account.
I then trashed the Secondary Admin ( Teacher), and created a new secondary admin
    (called simply School).
I then logged out as Primary Admin, logged in as School, and same errors
occur, "This App is not supported under this architecture"
error with the UniBi and PPC apps.
I then called one of the PPC app makers Tech Support to see if they had seen
    anything like this under Leopard.
Of course they hadn't, but after digging around, we decided to try this fix:
Logged in as Primary Admin, I did a get info on the folder of the app
    that was" breaking".
I then added the Secondary Admin to the Get Info panel and gave them
a full ride ( rw) privalges to the folder. I then told the Panel to
push them down ( propagate) to all children within the folder, including the app.
I then closed out of the Panel, logged out as admin, and then logged in
as Secondary admin. I then tested the app, and success, it launched
    perfectly!!!
So at this point, I would say there is something more to the point
problematic with Leopard .5.2 's ability to distinguish privileges
to non Leopard based apps. Apps like the iLife 08 suite, and
iWorks 08 didn't exhibt any of the problems I saw with Unibi
and PPC apps under the secondary admin account; they worked as they should.
At this point, I will add this "fix" to my list of drudgery that I do
in finalization of the machine, like setting binding to the local
OS X Server for Managed Accounts, which is next on my list to test,
as that is also problematic with these Leopard .5.2. installs.
Ok, so in part two to continue with my problems
with 10.5.2 image and using NetRestore 3.4.4:
I took the image out to test in a wide deployment.
So with my same Tiger Server having the image,
and my trusty Cisco 2950 switch,
I set up 8 Macbooks to begin the deployment.
The first four I turned on and got connected to the
Server and they began to Netboot fine.
MacBooks five through 8, I then tried to boot them up
and get them in line to begin netbooting, but after taking up to
10 minutes to connect to the server, they all came up with the following
    error:
"You do not have read privileges to the source image. Please check
the permissions on the image and try again."
The first four were still imaging just fine, the next four would just hang
    at that error message.
So I waited for one to completely finish out of the first four,
and when it did, I tried to netboot one of the second group
of four, and after 10 minutes, it connected and began it's process.
I then tried another in the second group of four, and got the same
    "privileges on image" error.
    So what gives?
Why can I only do four machines at a time? I know the image is
fine and its permissions are ok, because I can do four machines
at a time. It's when I try to do more than that then the problem
    occurs.
Is this a Leopard issue or a Net Restore 3.4.4. issue?
Well, just for grins, I put a PPC eMac onto the CISCO 2950,
and attempted a Netboot from it with the Leopard Universal image,
just to see if it would mount ( the emac is 700 mhz, so it would not
    support Leopard anyway).
It attempted Netboot, but came back with the same
"cannot read the disc image error" as seen on the
    MacBooks.
But the image worked fine on the first four MacBooks,
only when I attempted to NetBoot #5 did it cause the error.
Could trying to put on that fifth Macbook corrupted the image somehow?
    or the NBI?

While patiently waiting to see if anyone else is having my same issues,
I tried a Firewire hookup to my 10.4 server directly
of Macbooks 5 and 6, and tried a Netrestore through Firewire to the Macbooks
off the same image in my NetBootSp0's Resources/Disc Image folder,
and it restored fine to both , with only one error, that came up when it
tried to auto-restart, but I suspect that having to do with it
being unable to shut down the 10.4.11 Server more than anything else.
    So:
    1. the Image is valid, I can firewire restore from it at the server level
    no problem.
    2. It did do four MacBooks before saying it was "corrupted" and
    "Could not read the image".
    3. The Machines all boot into the Leopard NetBoot screen just fine
through the Cisco 2950 switch, and get the nbi to bring up, but
at the point it should auto run, it throws up the "corrupted" and
"Could not read the image" errors.
Unfortunately, I am under a deadline to image 540 MacBooks within the
next 30 days, and my patience is wearing thin......

  • RSS Feed Rejected?

    RSS Feed: http://feed.podcastmachine.com/podcasts/9160/mp3.rss
I had a topic a few days ago entitled, "Issue with Subscribing" Thanks to some immaculate help I found out that my RSS feed host server basically broke so I had to re-start from scratch. I had iTunes take down my original podcast and after a few days I go the e-mail that it was all good and removed from the directory.
Ok, so in the mean time I start an account with Podcast Machine, I tested their RSS feed, it worked and I validated it and everything. I try to submit it to iTunes and it rejects it saying that it's already been submitted. After looking through some similar threads on here I'm thinking that it has something to do with the title being so similar so soon so I change it from, "Talkin' That S#!t" to "Talkin' That S#!t with Rage and Fury" and it works and it's submitted. That was about 3 hours ago.
A little less than 20 minutes ago I get an e-mail saying it's been rejected. Can anyone help me here or perhaps give me a number that I can call Apple at for I-Tunes Podcast management because I have NO idea what I've done wrong this time for it to be rejected.

The feed validates and the 'explicit' tag as set to 'yes' to cover any strong language. Not having listened to it I don't know whether there is any content which even so might have upset them; all I can suggest it contacting Support. Go to http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ - click on 'Other iTunes Store Features' in the list and then on 'Podcasts'. You will see a link to either 'Express Lane', which will guide you eventually to some contact options, or you may see a link to email them.

  • Installing 10.5 Server on Macbook pro 2.9.3 extern. HD Issues -booting loop

    Hey all,
    system:
    • macbook pro 2.93
    • external firewire drive
    Objective:
    • installing 10.5 Server from dvd on external drive
    Issue:
    • macbook pro when trying to boot up from the 10.5 Server dvd is stuck in a reboot loop
    Additional info
    • this dvd was used to install on a xserve and works fine
    • holding the option key on boot up shows the dvd as one of the bootable options
    Question:
    • is there any issues in installing 10.5 server through a macbook pro?
    • what can I do to fix this issue?
    Any help would be appreciated.

If this is the latest-generation Mac Book Pro then the minimum OS version it can boot from is 10.5.7.
Therefore you need to ensure that your Install DVD is at least 10.5.7. If it's any earlier it won't boot the MacBook Pro.
Also bear in mind that if this is the OS that came with the XServe, it's likely licensed to the XServe and you can't (legally) install it on another machine (unless, potentially, you've installed some other OS on the XServe).

  • Firewire disk not visible in Workgroup Manager

I'm setting up an only MAC server for our graphic arts class in our middle school.
The server is a G4 with a small HD, so I have an external Maxtor firewire drive I wanted to use for file storage.
The firewire drive shows up on the server desktop, but not in Workgroup Manager. I've checked for other ways to share the firewire drive, but can't find anything.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.....
I want to make a good showing with the MAC server to try and convince the school skepticx.

I can't remember if this is a requirement or not.... (easier to try it than look-up answers in docs sometimes)...
Is the FW drive in MS-DOS format (look at it with Disk Utility). If so, try erasing it in Disk Utility and switch to Mac OS Extended (journaled optional but recommened).

  • Firewire device assignments -- permanent?

Running 10.4.7 on a G4 XServe, 2GB RAM, two Exabyte VXA-2 Firewire tape drives attached. BRU server.
The problem, of course, is that once in a blue moon a service reboot brings the firewire tape drives up in the opposite order, and what was ntape0 is now ntape1 and vice-versa. BRU, trusting the OS definitions, starts writing to the wrong device.
I will admit that I saw this coming, but after months of consistent performance I stopped worrying about it.
Is there a way that I can force a particular firewire device assignment in OS X Server? I would like to run a script at login that probes the tape drives and reassigns IDs accordingly.
    Thanks very much!

1st look at your "audio midi setup" and see if the FW divice is recognized by your mac. if it is not it is a driver problem. contact the company and ask them if they are intel UB compatable
if the device is in Audio midi step, then look in Logic under Preferences/audio/driver and select you divice there

  • Is it possible to run Mac OS Server as a VM

Is it possble to buy and install Mac OS Server as a VM on a windows 2008 server running vmware?
Currently working on integrating macs, ipads and iphones into a windows domain and have a few areas where Windows Config Manager and Windows AD does not solve my issues. My manager has accepted to buy Mac Server, but wants to have it installed as a vm.

The license for OS X and Server.app does allow running in a VM and this can be VMware but the license only allows this if the VM is hosted on Apple (Mac) hardware.
In theory you can run Server 2008R2 on Mac hardware and VMware on top off that so technically the answer is yes. In reality the answer is no you cannot do this.
You will therefore have to consider getting something like a Mac Mini server, running the Apple software on that and binding it to Active Directory. There are special brackets available to 'rackmount' Mac mini computers.
If you want a sort of failover capability for the Mac server, something which Apple themselves no longer provide in software then an approach is to have two identical Macs, you would setup one and clone it to the second (spare). You would then boot the second one in FireWire Target Disk mode and have it connected via FireWire to the first main Mac server. It will then show up as an external drive. You would then set the first main server to periodically sync to the second one to keep it up to date.
As always with servers they should be protected by a UPS.
You then need a managed power strip like this http://www.amazon.com/APC-AP7900-Switched-Surge-Protector/dp/B0000AAAYH/ref=sr_1 _8?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1355395198&sr=1-8&keywords=managed+power+strip
With this power strip, you can use a web-browser to remotely turn off or on individual power sockets. If the main server dies you would then turn its socket off and would power cycle the second backup Mac server. This second Mac would then boot as normal and be able to take over server duties.
Unlike Windows, Apple software will not whine about product activation and serial numbers and will therefore boot and run without any issues even though it is now running on a different device.
You could extend this approach somewhat by having the Macs connect to a SAN.
Note: There are Thunderbolt to FDDI adaptors giving you the same performance levels as a traditional PCI-E card.
These Macs can either use internal software RAID1 for protection, or you can boot from an external Thunderbolt RAID box which can be configured to RAID5, or you can combine the two. You cannot boot the Mac from a SAN.

  • Threads exceeded alert with FME?

    Hi,
We have FME installed on a server running Win 2003 with an Osprey 530 capture card.  We are encoding a live stream to our CDN.
The encoder was running ok for a few days and then it crashed.  A command window appeared with the following error:
OMP abort: currently configured to support a maximum of 32 threads.  Please specify a larger value via the KMP_ALL_THREADS environment variable to raise the limit.
I added the KMP_ALL_THREADS variable and set it to 128 (this is an Intel specific environment variable). The encoder worked for another week and then crashed again.  This time a windows dialog appeared with the following error:
    Limit of 198 threads exceeded
I have restarted the encoder and it's working but probably not for long.
Can anyone confirm that this error is generated by FME?  There are no other obvious processes running on the server, and no other applications.  If so, can anyone suggest a fix?  I thought of raising the thread limit further but this is not a long term solution.
    Thanks,
    Ed

    Hi,
Some more info on the problem.
We are using an Osprey 530 capture card with the latest drivers.  Server is Win2k / HP dual core with 4gb RAM.
The errors seem to occur at random intervals.  We got the Session Stopped / Session Started in our logs once after 63 hours and once after 17 hours.
    A few things I've noticed:
I started the encoder again on Tuesday at 16.25.  On Wednesday at 06:46 the logs reported the Primary connection was disconnected.  Instead of the Session Stopped / Session Started message we get 'Re-establishing connection' (which was successful):
    Wed Oct 13 2010 06:50:41 : Primary - Re-establishing connection, attempt 23
    Wed Oct 13 2010 06:50:49 : Primary - Re-establishing connection, attempt 24
    Wed Oct 13 2010 06:50:49 : Primary - Reconnected
    Wed Oct 13 2010 06:50:49 : Primary - Network Command: onFCPublish
    Wed Oct 13 2010 06:50:49 : Primary - Stream[ChannelName@34416] Status: Success
    Wed Oct 13 2010 06:50:49 : Primary - Stream[ChannelName@34416] Status: NetStream.Publish.Start
On Thursday at 06:22 the Backup connection was disconnected and reconnected after 22 attempts.  Is this a different kind of problem, perhaps with our CDN?
I've noticed the SetNumberOfStreams(1) error all over our logs but I'm guessing this isn't important.
When I originally set up the encoder it took a few attempts to get it to 'see' the Osprey card properly.  At one point it refused to recognise that the card had audio.  Without really changing anything it started working - I think I reselected the same values in a few drop-downs and rebooted.
It's been encoding for a few days but I'm not satisfied I've got to the bottom of this.  Any ideas?

  • Backup/Restore Podcast Producer workflows,feeds, content, etc

Anyone have a best practice for backing up Podcast Producer. The documentation(Podcast Composer, Podcast Producer Admin, Podcast Prod Workflow) are all silent on the issue. I would guess I can use my favorite tool to move the podcast Library root directory to some other device and I assume this will save all my content. But then how to get it back in the case of a full blown crash or if PCP2 has to be reinstalled? My 'guess' is I would get the workflows back by doing podcast --installworkflow ... and get the feeds back by copying the Content directory and then doing pcastconfig --synch_library. Does anyone know or have pointers to more documentation? Are there any more technical docs around somewhere that explain how the file system and database , workflows, feeds, web server and rails files all work together?
    thanks

Okay, just to be clear ... your log messages show the shared secret, right? What I'm asking is if you're editing it out before posting your log results to the forums here ... going by the logs, you don't have a shared secret. However, I think if you're editing it out for us, you're doing the wise thing (clearly, you don't want us to know). My question to you is that you yourself are seeing it in the log messages, correct? I do know that you're entering it in PcP ... what I'm wondering is if there is a disconnect somehow between what you have in the PcP GUI and what shows up in logs.
Another question I have for you is that if you upload content in other ways does it always work?
You know, in a worst case scenario, I could probably make you a command-line util that would do the upload ... similar, but different ... from Apple's ... just for testing purposes. You could swap mine for Apple's. Not that I think I'm a better coder than Apple ... this test would be to rule out local net issues ... that kind of thing.
