Fireworks Compatiblity

Will Adobe Fireworks CS3 integrate ok with Macromedia
Dreamweaver 8?

Sure, why not? Are you talking about clicking on edit for the
images? Otherwise, images, no problem, code, no problem. You are
fine.

I just loaded Macromedia Fireworks 8 to my new Windows Vista

there a free fix for this anywhere on the adobe site????? What do I

says something like "using Home Basic"....to run the

FW 8 is essentially two versions old at this point and was
    not built
with Vista in mind. Fireworks CS4 (coming out sometime soon)
    will run
with Vista, but you can also check out the requirements on
    Adobe's web site.

  • Is Fireworks HTML5 compatible?

Hi, My first ever post here.
I have been making websites in fireworks for a while now, However, Only on macromedia fireworks at school.
Anyway, Most of you already know that HTML5 and CSS3 are becoming mainstream now, And I am trying to make my XHTML4 Fireworks-exported site HTML5 compatible, And it's a nightmare. It just...... Messes up. Can fireworks export slices for dreamweaver CS5 into a table that complies with HTML5 and CSS3 to make the job a little easier?
    Thanks in advance,
    Gergy.

The method you describe is not considered best practices for building web sites. A graphical, table-based layout is not indexable, searchable, accessible or easy to maintain. And, as you have learned, this export also produces a pretty fragile layout. Fine for protoyping, not fine at all for a final web site.
FW is a design tool. Dreamweaver is a web page creation tool. Do your mock ups in FW, slice, optimize and export the necessary graphics, then assemble the page in Dreamweaver using whatever Doctype you prefer (including HTML5) and CSS.

Where? Surely you are misinterpreting that - it has Spry

but a much better choice even than those exists.

  • Is Fireworks CS4 compatible with Maverick 10.9.5?

I've searched discussions about this and see conflicting responses. Some say they are not at all compatible some say they are.
I am getting the message that my license for this product has stopped working - Error Code:  150:30.

Yes.. as you have found..There is a nasty graphical issue in LP8 (A large black vertical bar that prevents the proper viewing of the arrange window) when used to 10.9 or 10.10 OS X versions...
There will be no fix for it, it seems LP8 is considered EOL these days... by Apple ( EOL - End Of Line so no further updates)
Best bet, if you can.. is to revert/roll back to your pervious OS X / LP8 combination via backups... and then create a separate bootable external HD to install the newer OS X versions upon  so you can use features the newer OS X's provide.. and boot to that when you wish.. so you can switch back and forth between your older OS/Logic Pro 8 combo and say, Yosemite.

  • Will Fireworks 4 be compatible with CS2?

Hi. I have CS2 and am happy with it. For the moment, it meets my needs and I am not looking to upgrade. However, I would like to purchase Fireworks and am wondering if there will be any conflict particularly for Dreamweaver which I use for my website. Thanks.

Hi Brenda. Not directly, no. You would need Lightroom 6 to have direct support for that camera. But, you can still use the free DNG Converter to get those files into Lightroom 4. See here:  Why doesn’t my version of Photoshop or Lightroom support my camera?

  • Importing Nav Bar from Fireworks

    Hi
I am using Dreamweaver MX and Fireworks MX (i know i need to
    update
) anyway. I made a navigation bar in fireworks, using
slices, pop-up menus, roll-over behaviors and stuff. (Im a beginner
don't know exactly what's going on hehe.) When i preview it in
Safari (mac) it works perfectly, but once i import it into
dreamweaver and preview in safari, it doesn't work properly, the
pop-up menus go transparent when going on each individual section
in the drop down, but yet you can still see the text, (so what i
think i mean is that the background on the pop-up go transparent
when rolling over) i hope that makes sense. Maybe i havent exported
it properly, or imported it properly, feel free to interegate me.
As long as i get it working ill be happy. Any help
    much appreciated, thanks.

Here are the SERIOUS problems with that menu approach -
    1. It's not compatible with DW templates
    2. It's EXTRAORDINARILY BLOATED CODE (adding some 75K of
    weight to your
    page)
    3. It's NOT maintainable in DW (meaning that if you change a
    filename
linked in the menu, DW cannot make that alteration in the
    menu code)
    4. It's NOT extensible (meaning that once you have inserted
    it in your
page, if you then want to add a new submenu, you have to
    recreate the new
menu and retrofit your pages with it individually)
    5. It's NOT spiderable (meaning that search engines cannot
    find your links
to spider your pages - thus, your 50-page site will appear to
    Google as if
it were a single page, and would be ranked accordingly)
    6. It's NOT accessable (meaning that anyone using a screen
    assistive device
would be no better off than Google at finding your interior
    pages)
    7. It's NOT functional in browsers with javascript disabled
    (meaning that
your site would be unusable for anyone who by choice or
    occupation finds
themselves in an environment where browsers aren't permitted
    to use
    javscript)
    'nuff said?
It's just plain and simple crap - and a lousy joke that
    Macromedia played on
    the community.

  • PSD error: "Could not complete your request because the file is not compatible with this version of Photoshop"

Help needed, encountered this error while opening psd file.
the psd file is created in CS5, tried to open it in CS3 because it said "...the file is not compatible with this version of Photoshop", i got the same error message in CS5
tried to open it at Firework CS6 (got the idea from Re: Recovering Crashed PSD file) but it give me error message "Could not open the file. An internal error occured"
is there any way to recover the file?

thank you very much for the help.

  • File is not compatible with this version of Photoshop error

Computer crashed yesterday and now I am getting "File is not compatible with this version of Photoshop" error and unable to opening in PS CS5 or Fireworks CS5. Any ideas? Also tried the PS repair download and would rather not pay $30 to find out it can't do it. Seems like a common error but in all of the forums I haven't found a solid answer. Appreciate some real advise.
    Thanks in advance

This is the free app that all the PSD repair hacks are based on: Telegraphics - Free plugins for Photoshop & Illustrator...and other software
There are 3 possible reasons for that error: file corruption on disk, more than 8000 layers in the file, or a layer somehow went over 30,000 pixels in a PSD file (which would be legal in PSB, but not in PSD).

  • I have cs3 and can't get to work on 8.1 windows.  Can I download a trial of Fireworks and use my product key for full activation?

I use only Photoshop and Fireworks from my CS3 cd.  It is not compatible with 8.1 windows.  Can I download a trial of Fireworks from the Adobe site and activate by using my product key from the original cd's?  I have looked for patches and to no avail.  Please help me with this as I need for making prints of my oil paintings.

I rarely use Fireworks for printing, but rather to render or perfect my images.  I have used Fireworks for about 17 years and just feel comfortable with it.  I use Photoshop as well, and see the simularities.  I see the handwriting on the wall with Fireworks maybe going to greener pastures, but still feel comfortable with it.  I received my original Macromedia cd from my Son as a gift and another gift years later.  I am launching a new art form, "Conceptual Art" on my site, and require Fireworks.  Maybe its time to cross over to Photoshop, I'll see.  Thank you for your answer and your time. http://www.baywoodgallery.com/

Look at NVu which is free and does a very decent job. I tried
    it when it
was only in beta and it was promising although it couldn't
    get me to
switch from Dreamweaver. I haven't used the final version but
    I'm
certain it will give you better results than using Fireworks'
    rigid and
easily breakable exported HTML and certainly a lot better
    than FrontPage.

    straight from Fireworks it
    > looks fine in FireFox. Why, and what do i do?
This is because, despite its flaws (and they are severe),
    Fireworks'
exported code is less proprietary and more cross browser
    compatible than
FrontPage's. I believed that later versions of FrontPage
    created better
code but your story proves once again that no visual Web
    "design"
application that falsely promise WYSIWYG is a substitute for
    learning
the basics of Web design and development and getting your
    hands dirty in
HTML and CSS code to understand how things work. Web design
    is certainly
not only about the visuals and any designer who thinks he can
    get away
with only creating Web sites visually without the need for a
    working
knowledge of the underlying code is seriously delusional (not
    saying
    this is your case).
I do not mean you need to create your sites' code in NotePad
    (which is
completely inefficient IMO). But you do need to understand
    how things
work under the hood to make the right decisions in your
    editor and be
able to fix problems. WYSIWYG is a pipe dream. Don't buy into
    it.
Until you can afford something like Dreamweaver, NVu could
    serve your
needs as it offers a source code view and apparently creates
    decent code
out of the box. Learning to code HTML and CSS in a more text
    based
application may be better for you in the long run if you are
    serious
about learning this craft properly though. I'm sorry that I
    cannot point
you to specific learning resources as it's been years since I
    was a
beginner in this field and learned from too many sources. If
    there is
one book I could recommend that I wish had been around when I
    started
out in early 1996, it would be Zeldman's "Designing with Web
    Standards".
This could be one of the smartest investment you make right

How many fonts do you have installed? Fireworks is limited to

  • Should I learn Fireworks or Builder to Design Flex Apps?

I need help in making a process decision on how to build Flex
    Apps going forward.
In the past, we have built the concept for our Flex app in
Photoshop and sent it over to our development team in India to
build. The process has been difficult because our engineers are not
designers and our designers are not engineers. Invariably we spend
alot of time bridging the gap between whats possible and what we
want to see in our Apps.
I want to bring our Design and Dev much closer together and
essentially take the GUI out of the hands of my Indian Developers
and let them focus on the backend.
To accomplish this goal, I will be training my US Design team
to become either Fireworks Experts or Flex Builder Experts....
(they are already Photoshop experts) This is where I need your
help. If you were starting from scratch with a talented design team
that could learn either tool, which one would you choose to
accomplish the goal? Does the Fireworks to Flex export create
crappy code like Dreamweaver thats tough to modify manually? Does a
"true" Flex developer despise Fireworks-generated code?
I have read up on the Fireworks>Flash Catalyst>Flex
Builder Path and dont understand the additional step... is Catalyst
part of Fireworks and thats how Flex code is developed or is it a
new code generation engine that does code better than Fireworks
    CS4?
    Thanks in advance.

I am understanding my question better now... Please read
    below
I am attempting to remove inefficiencies in my Flex
development process by re-tooling my design team so that their UI
and application design output files can be imported directly into
the developers environment. Essentially, I want designers to
produce prototypes with working client-side interactions while the
    developers focus on back-end interactions.
Our current process has a number of throwaways that occur
during the web application build process: from wireframe, to
Photoshop, to development using the Photoshop output as a guide for
development... this last step is often the most mangled because is
difficult to implement the design exactly as the designer created
it in Photoshop because designers do not fully understand what is
possible. I want to remove the steps in-between and have found two
    possible solutions to do this.
    Option 1) Fireworks CS4>Catalyst(Thermo)>Flex4
    SDK>*.SWF
    Option 2) Fireworks>Flex3 SDK>*.SWF
With Option 1, we would tool up our Designers on Fireworks
and Catalyst and get our developers on the Flex4 SDK. The output of
the design/build would be only compatible with Flash10 and the
stock component library for Flex4 would be limited.
With Option 2, we would tool up our Designers on Fireworks
and use the native Fireworks export to Flex 3 (not sure how well
this works?). The output would be compatible with Flash 9 and the
stock and aftermarket component library for Flex3 would be rich.
Do I have this right? Which option would you choose and why?
    Thanks in advance.
