  • Is there a Eye Candy 4000 plug in for Fireworks CS5?

I am in great need of plug ins like the Eye Candy 4000 that was with the Macromedia Fireworks 8 program. If anyone know of where I may locate and download such a set of plug ins please be the grace of the Gods let me know.
I am hoping that Adobe Fireworks is as good as the Macromedia Fireworks 8 but I just do not have the plug ins I so badly need.
Thank you for any help the community can send me.

  • Disabling interface animations and eye-candy

Is there any way to disable the interface animations and eye-candy in Aperture. I particularly want to disable the animations that play on stacks. Opening, closing, and sorting of stacks. They are sooooo slow with stacks of 30+ images. Especially when using keyboard commands to quickly perform multiple commands on a stack — it will start to play 2 or 3 animations on top of each other and it grinds the app to a halt.

    Amen, brother!
It would be fine to have all the spinning, swooshing, eye candy if the basic program ran well. But it's so sluggish, and there are so many performance issues on such a wide variety of hardware (just peruse the topic titles here if you have any doubt) that it's completely exasperating to have to wait for all the eye candy to execute before the program can actually do what you're asking of it.
I've learned not to use stacks or smart albums (even touching these brings my Dualie 2.5 ghz G5 to its knees, spod city...) but there are a number of animations you trigger just in use. Would be interesting to see if turning them off speeds up the programs core functions...

I'm not sure I followed your description of the problem. It

  • FCE 4 and 4.0.1 compatibility issue:

FCE 4 and 4.0.1 compatibility issue:
While using Final Cut Express 4.0.1 on one machine I save (saves as .fcp) and now when I try to open the same file to continue editing, on a machine running Yosemite, and FCE 4 it gives an error message saying "This project is unreadable or may be too new for this version of Final Cut".  I have worked this way before (not ideal), I am wondering if the 4.0.1 update is still available and if so where?
    Any Help would be great.

  • Minimalist services and eye candy

I want to eliminate all possible unneeded processes, services and eye candy to devote maximum CPU and RAM to just one task. How do I do that?
Can I set up one user account that way or do I have to set up the entire computer that way.

You can disable Finder animations by running the following command in Terminal (Applications > Utilities > Terminal):
defaults write com.apple.finder DisableAllAnimations -bool true
    and then run:
    'killall Finder'
I'm not sure that you're going to appreciate a noticable real-world benefit however. You might want to search VersionTracker 'renice' and download a utility to devote more CPU cycles to a specific program.

  • OS 10.4.11 and HP Officejet 4500 compatibility issue (scanning)

    Hi there,
    I am having a compatibility issue with a G4 (OS 10.4.11) and a HP Officejet 4500 (all-in-one).
(Sorry if this is a little long, but there are many specs and many attempts listed here).
Problem: I cannot scan from the computer (upon opening HP Scan, a Browser Device window pops up, asking to "Choose a scanning device" the model is not listed, and it continues to search for a device but cannot find it) or from the scanner control panel to the computer (I tried selecting Open in HP Scan and Open in Preview from the panel  –it then says on the panel "Starting scanning" but it doesn't scan even though the power button flashes (it then reverts to date and time), and the program it's opening in on the computer just seems to hang).
    Still, some functions work fine:
    - I can print from the computer to the printer (it recognizes the printer)
    - The HP fax test seemed to run fine (via computer)
    - As a stand-alone device (without the computer), I can photocopy in B&W and color –so there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the scanner itself.
    Here are the specs:
    Computer specs:
    - PowerPC G4, 933 MHz, 512 MB SDRAM, running OS 10.4.11 (no Intel Core processor)
(the hard drive is partitioned into 3 –one runs 10.4.11 (the others Jaguar and OS9 –for compatiblity with other programs/peripherals) –21GB space remaining on 10.4.11 partition
    All-in-One specs:
    - HP Officejet 4500 G510g-m (USB, not wireless) all-in-one (printer/scanner/fax/copier) with USB 2.0 high-speed A-B printer cable (says in literature and on box it is  compatible with the G4 running OS 10.4.11, 256 MB RAM, 500 MB HD)
I contacted HP Tech Support. They suggested the following which were tried and failed to work:
    - shutting everything down and restarting (many times)
    - they checked to see if there was any update to the HP software –there didn't appear to be
    - plug power cord directly into wall outlet
    - switch to USB 2.0 cable (from 1.0)
    - unplugging and replugging the USB 2.0 cable
    - plug USB directly into the G4
    - turning off the firewall (under System Preferences - Sharing)
    - "scrub" or complete uninstall of all HP software (twice)
    - search and removal of files via system and user libraries pertaining to HP (and some Epson files)
    - verify and repair permissions (twice)
    - reinstall of HP software (twice, second time after scrub/uninstall and verify/repair permissions)
    - Software Update (via Apple menu) –only found Java 1.3.1 and 1.4.2 Release 2 (version 2.0) which they suggested might fix the problem –I downloaded and installed them, and then J2SE 5.0 Release 4 (version 4.0) which I downloaded but could not install (error message)
I then contacted Apple Tech Support and they said to go to support.apple.com and do a manual search for "HP 4500" –I did not find any drivers.
[I did previously have an Epson CX 4600 all-in-one which scanned fine with a USB 1.0 cable, even after the printheads had clogged shut –and I had had a HP Officejet J4580 which worked fine (which was for a family member) –this software would've been removed with the current HP installs and scrubs]
I am on the verge of returning this –it has also gotten several very bad reviews on the Apple site (for the wireless), however, I may have trouble finding a compatible device, as one running 10.4 is getting hard to find (unless I buy used, then no warranty and potentially other problems).
If anyone knows of any drivers or has any other information as to why this is not working, I would be most grateful (BTW, I am not much of a tech guy, so please bear with me).
    Thanks.

  • Remote performance and "eye candy"

    Hello.
I am still on Tiger, and have not jumped to Leopard because I spend a lot of time remoting into my machine from work. My husband, who has Leopard, is always complaining about how his system is virtually unusable because the performance is so bad while waiting for all the Leopard "eye candy" to draw. He's tried my system from his work, and it's much much faster.
Any way to disable the "eye candy" like drop shadows and reflections and such so that remoting goes faster?
    Thanks.

    What VNC server?
    What VNC Client?
I have found that the Leopard to Leopard provided Server/Client combo to be very efficient over an internet connection.
However, I've found that using A Leopard Server with a 3rd party Client, or a 3rd party server and a Leopard Client (aka Screen Sharing.app) has not been very fast.
The JollysFastVNC client is actually fairly good for a 3rd party client.
Using all 3rd party VNC components, I have found that using the Vine Server (aka OSXvnc) and Chicken of the VNC WITH CotVNC set to use only 8 bit color (or even 16 bit color) to be fairly good over a slow DSL connection between my Mom's system and myself. Of course I'm not interested in fantastic color from my Mom's system. I'm just trying to do admin tasks without driving 300 miles one way.
I also use Vine Server and Chicken of the VNC between home and my work system using lower color density. It is servicable, although I prefer to just pull the needed files to my MacBook and work locally, then push the results back.

  • Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 and OSX 10.6 - Compatibility issue

I've bought a new MacBook Pro (2,53 GHz, 4 GB RAM) and OSX 10.6.4 . With the old one (MBP 2,16 GHz, 1 GB RAM, still with OSX 10.6.4) the Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 went perfectly.
Now I'm experiencing a major compatibility issue: the same mouse, even with the same OS version but only a different MacBook Pro, won't be recognized.
    Bluetooth: activated
    Bluetooth firmware: latest
    Mouse: ON with batteries OK
OPERATING SYSTEM: same (first restored via Time Machine and then updated with Apple Software Update)
    Suggestions?
    Message was edited by: Tyrexionibus

I went through many of the same frustrations as the members above...my mouse had been working after the upgrade and then when I set up for a presentation with a room full of teachers it wouldn't connect.  I replaced batteries, etc... so I resorted to the pad.
When I got home i checked the batteries and tried to reconnect following all the "normal" steps until I read the comment above about removing the existing device in the bluetooth preferences.  Once I did that - the 5000 connected like a champ!  Yeah!  This is the one mouse that I have really appreciated, especially since both of the USB ports are side by side and don't allow for multiple USB connections from my "wide" cellular USB card.

  • External KM Repository and Microsoft 2007 extensions compatibility issues

    Hi,
We are currently having issues when trying to open Microsoft Office 2007 documents through an external KM repository (connected to a Windows share drive).  The new extensions are not recognized, and so the user is only allowed to save the document.  We did have this problem in our internal repository, but we found some notes to fix that issue (changed some settings on KM iView ).  We assumed it would also fix our external repository issue as well, but it did not.  Does anybody know how to fix this for an external repository?
We are on EP portal version 6.0, on NetWeaver  7.0, SPS 17.
    Thanks,
    Carrie

    Hi Carrie,
ok. So in general it must be the same.
I will explain the exact way how it "should" work.
At the moment you upload a file. The portal have a look at the file extention and depending on this file extention and the KM MIME Types Settings the portal writes the assoziated mime type in the document property MIME Type.
Now we download the file. Now the MIME Type will be send with the file to the OS. Windows has a look in the registry and open the application assoziate with this mine type. And have a look if an confirmation box should appear or not.
This works for all repositories external and internal.
But now the question is: Do your external repository has the attribute MIME Type for a document and is in this attribute the same value like in your internal repository?
I am anxious to hear what is the special of your external repository.
    Best regards
    Frank

  • Visio 2007 standard and Visio 2010 standard compatibility issues

Have a Visio File that peoplle using 2007 Standard can open and view, but when using 2010 Standard thhe drawing is not viewable, all the drawing properties are there but the drawing can not be seen

    Hi,
I have some questions about the issue:
1.Did both of the Visio 2007 and Visio 2010 installed in the computer?
    2. If we open and view the file in the different computers, how did you transfer the file? By email, physical storage or the other?
If we had two computers, I recommend you copy all the
content from the special file to new blank Visio 2010 file to test.
If you sent it through Email, the file may be damaged. Please follow the link to troubleshooting the issue:

If the issue still exists, as Mr.Paul said, upload a sample in the thread.

  • Toast and Apple SuperDrive - Serious Compatibility Issue

My friend's G5's DVD SuperDrive suddenly can't mount DVD that burnt with Toast 7 and 6, why is that? Only DVD that burnt with Disk Utility can be mount, I am still not known yet which exactly model he's owning now. will update when I am informed. Anyone has the same problem?
    * All his softwares are up-to-date via Software Update.

Chances are that the media he is using is the problem.
I doubt very seriously that it has anything to do with the version of Toast that is being used.
You will find that not all Media is compatable with all drives, both in speed and format.
In otherwords, if your machine will only read and write at 2X and using DVD-R media.
There is your problem. DVD+R or RW will not work as well as if he used or burned the project above 2X, lets say 8X using 8X media you can't read it with your computer.
The newer optical drives will read and write at the faster speeds at 8X and above, and will also read and write to
    DVD-R DVD-RW DVD+R DVD+RW.
DVD-R Media is the most widely recognized and used media that will play on just about anything including most computers, 95%. Anything other than this media will not work accept on the newer burners and players.
    Cheers Don

  • T60 think pad and HP monitor w2338h compatibility issues

I bought an HP w2338h monitor (23") for use with my T60 laptop, but was unsuccessful in getting it properly set up. My husband had no problem plugging it into his HP laptop (all settings were fine).  The problem when it’s hooked up to my IBM laptop is the image is a bit distorted (squished) but, more importantly, when editing 2 documents, the side-by-side view doesn't show the entire page and the font isn’t legible.  So for each document, you’d have to use the scroll bars (up, down and sideways) to actually make sure you’re seeing everything (which is no better than the laptop).  Also, when my laptop cover was closed, the monitor went to sleep.  Are there particular settings on the laptopI should adjust?

which T60 model do you have, what GPU does it use, the Intel 950 or the ATI x1300/1400?

  • Cool and eye-candy GUIs

AIR is a great platform for any web-oriented (and not only)
task and it's clearly in some way derived by Flash.
Flash made us get used to nice looking GUIs where we didn't
expect, and it could be great if we could bring this know-how on
AIR. There are apps, like Klok (
    http://klok.mcgraphix.com/klok/index.htm)
having a great interface, with liquid and tweening components. So I
was asking myself how did the developer of this app achieved that.
Maybe is he using some commercial components? And what about the
"rewritten" systemChrome? Are they PNGs crafted and embedded or are
there strategies to make our apps so nice-looking?
    Thank you.

  • Eye Candy Buttons

I had version 3 of Eye Candy, then moved to Eye Candy 4000. When doing some of the emboss commands with the Buttons feature, I always went back to the version 3 effects because they were quicker and more intuitive. Neither of them work on a 64 bit Windows 7 machine, so I bought Eye Candy 6. I am have a lot of trouble duplicating the same bevel effects in the new version and am now looking for a plug-in that works much like the old Eye Candy 3. Version 6 takes three screens to adjust what used to take only 1. I know I can use the Bevel and Emboss layer effect in Photoshop, but I still like the way Eye Candy handled it.
Does anyone know of a similar product?
    Thanks in advance,
    M. Jackson

As far as eye-candy goes, you can't go wrong with xcompmgr and awn.
Though my definition of "eye-candy" has evolved (devolved?) over some time, and now I'm pretty sure my shortlist involves conky and that's it.  Dzen if you're on xmonad, etc.
