Fireworks CS3 Error on Set-up

Running installation on Win XP and getting to setup when I
receive an error that IE needs to be shut down. I disabled IE
several times, rebooted again and no success. IE is not running and
the software given me an fatal error to contact support. Please I
need to test Fireworks for future Joomla web work.

A Huge thanks to nedsbeds for finding out that his
issue was the DW sites registry. I tried the same thing and
Fireworks launched properly. The down side is that I have 26 sites
defined in DW so I spent another half hour importing the sites back
into DW. After each site was imported I tried to start Fireworks
until I found the site definition that was causing Fireworks to
crash.
Cause: When I upgraded to CS3 Web Suite I exported my
Deamweaver 8 sites and then imported them in Dreamweaver CS3.
Obviously for me Fireworks CS3 didn't like one of my site
definitions. I would never have made a connection between Firworks
and Dreamweaver sites except for NedsBeds previous post.
Problem (read bug): Fireworks will unexpectedly quit if
Dreamweaver has a site definition that it doesn't like. In my case
the site in question used a dot in the site URL (
http://site.local/).
Solution (read work-around): For me I needed to change the
site url in the Dreamweaver site definition so it didn't have a dot
in the URL (
http://local_site/).
Steps to solve without having to re-create all your sites in
Dreamweaver:
1. Export all your sites from the Deamweaver site manager.
2. Start Fireworks and see if launches normally. If it
doesn't this isn't a solution to your specific problem. If it does
continue with the next steps.
3. Import your sites into the site manager one at a time,
starting (then quitting) Fireworks after each import.
4. When you find that the site you just imported causes
Fireworks to crash delete it and continue with the next site.
5. After importing all your sites and verifying that
Fireworks will run re-create the site(s) that cause Fireworks to
crash.
This has been plaging me for months and I have spent
countless hours tring to get Fireworks CS3 to run. Now thanks to
nedsbeds pointing me in the right direction I am finally happy with
my purchase again!
I hope this helps some other people in this topic that have
been frustrated by this bug.

  • Fireworks CS3 Pages export internal error from Page naming?

When exporting a set of linked "Pages" to HTML, I was getting
an "internal error" and an incomplete set of pages.
It would have been nice to get a more informative error
message, but I found an Adobe Technote recommending repairing
permissions. This did not help, so I went about recreating the file
a little at a time and testing.
Turns out that the likely cause was my page naming.
Some of my names included colons ( : ), which, while happily
accepted by Firework's Pages menu, do NOT work in URLs. So
Fireworks was choking on the colons.
As soon as I renamed the Pages with underscores instead of
    colons, they exported correctly.
Firefox should have given me some warning about the names or
not allowed them in the first place, because many people will not
know what characters are / aren't acceptable in URLs.
    Fireworks CS3 | Mac OS X 10.4.9

In general ALL special characters with the exception of _ or
    - should be
avoided in file names for images and web pages and other
    assets like
flash movies. In my web design intro class, this is the first
    thing I
point out, because it's one of the first things that can trip
    you up.
This is not a failing of Firefox or Fireworks for that
    matter. FW is not
a web page authoring program; it's a web/screen graphics app
    and
prototyping package package, never intended to produce a full
    and proper
    professional level web site.

  • Error when opening Fireworks CS3 by first time

I downloaded the trial version of Fireworks CS3 as I'm
planning to buy it, but after downloading and installing it,
Fireworks wouldn't work, a message appeared saying that the License
for the product stopped working, I tought a problem might have
ocurred during downloading so I downloaded it again, installed but
the same problem continued. The message that appeared also said
that maybe reinstalling would be the solution but it wasn't.
    THE
    MESSAGE BOX ERROR
    What can I do?

I've read all of the instructions, but I'm afraid that I only
count with 8 of the 9 requirements, I have a RAM of 448MB, anyhow I
don't think this has anything to do with the error I got, as the
RAM would only affect how fast the program would run, it WOULD let
    me open it.
btw, the download comes with Bridge CS3, the extension
manager and stuff, they all work correctly, expect fireworks wich
is the most important thing, why wont Fireworks work????????? It's
    depressing.
I also noticed some innadequate behaviour where the software
is placed at; the installer creates a folder named "Adobe" wich is
fine, but the programs are placed outside that folder, is this a
sign that has to do with the problem I'm experiencing?
    Thanks in advance.
EDIT: I just realized that I installed Photoshop CS3 extended
Lite, it might be the problem, but there's even a bigger problem: I
can't uninstall it!! i don't know why, any ideas?

  • Fireworks CS3 - Internal error when save as JPEG and batch mode

    Dears,
I am being in trouble for all along these 7 days due to this
error. I hope that someone may help me.
After upgrading to CS3 from Fireworks 8, I am having this
"internal error message" both when the preview for a JPEG export
format is chosen (it works OK when the export format is either GIF
or PNG) and when I work with batch operation.
Everything is OK if I run Fireworks either as "root" user or
as "adminplus" user ("adminplus" is the username of an extra user
with administration privileges I created for testing).
My operating system is MacOsX 10.5.4 and my computer is a
MacBook2,1 (MacBook with Intel Core 2 Duo 2 GHz with 2GB RAM and a
brand new 186,31 GB Hitachi Journaled HFS+ HD with 100GB free).
I tried in many way to get the valuable differences in the
Library files and privileges (looking to many forums, it seems this
may be the cause, also confirmed by the fact that other users works
fine) but I didn't get any special differences.
I tried to trash the preferences but still the error is
    present.
I tried with the master temporary file in MacOsX with
terminal command "stat -x $TMPDIR" checked against command "id".
User and privileges were OK but still the "internal error" was
    there.
I tried with a simple reinstall for Fireworks CS3 and with a
full reinstall of the full CS3 web standard suite and, moreover,
    uninstalling and reinstalling everything.
I also tried with Fireworks 8 which was not removed by the
upgrade and it has the same problems.
May I receive a competent suggestion about how to diagnosis
    and solve the problem?
    Many thanks,
    Carmine

    OK. I solved it!
Whoever will have the same problem may ask how I solved. It
is not complicated but it is a long story. I succeed without any
reinstall of operating system as suggested by the ADOBE support, in
case any of the suggestions found everywhere, will give no result.
I will be happy to explain what to do to whoever will need
    it.
    My very best wishes,
    Carmine

  • Blurry Text using Fireworks CS3 version

I'm creating an ad for use in our local phone book yellow
pages using CS3 Fireworks. When I save it in .png or .jpg and print
it out it is very blurry and unacceptable. I made the mistake of
submitting an ad for something else thinking that the pros would be
able to print it out and it would be clear - and it printed
horrible. Why am I unable to print a clear .jpg file?

properties say the Max Resolution is 1200dpi. I'm really baffled
that this would happen in such a high end software such as
Fireworks CS3 version. How can anyone design anything using fonts
    if this happens.
    Yep, it's a tiny image. At 1200 dpi a 300-pixel image would
look good at about 1/4 inch. Maybe 1/2 inch, but it'll start to
look kinda blurry. Your printer may not have the same resolution as
the printer the phone book will be printed on, so you need to know
the print shop's recommendations. Then, do some math. If you know
the size in inches you want your advertisement to be, multiply
those dimensions by the dpi to get the dimensions in pixels to make
your Fireworks document. (Ignore the dpi settings in Fireworks.)
You could possibly get by with something half as big, but you
should ask the print shop for recommendations.
Better still is to use Illustrator or another vector drawing
program and submit scalable art in .ai or .eps format. But, again,
check with the print shop for guidelines.

  • Fireworks CS3 -- SPRY/HTML Slideshow

All of the other players work except for this one.
However, it does work beautifully in Firefox -- just not in

In IE, I get this error message:
"Exception caught while loading slideshow.xml: [object

    Can anyone help?

  • Fireworks CS3 Won't Install

    Hello...
I'm running an Intel Duo core 3.16... 2 gigs of ram.. asus
    en9600GSO
    Windows XP home sp3
Just reformatted.... installed windows + all the latest
    service packs and updates
don't have flash player installed.. only had the plugin for
    firefox which I removed
don't have acrobat or any other adobe programs
My problem is that when I click Setup.exe it loads a little
window saying Initializing Adobe Fireworks CS3.... and as soon as
it's finished loading it disappears and nothing happens. Setup.exe
is left in my running processes
Tried the windows install cleanup tool, tried refreshing that
jscript.dll file, tried deleting all the directores in application
    data.. program files... common files...
It seems that no matter what I do this setup just doesn't
    want to launch
Please... before I throw my computer infront of a bus, does
anyone know of anything I should try?
edit: Don't ask about my username... hahaha

    Hey everyone
I happened to buy a new SATA hard drive (my motherboard is
meant for sata drives.. the ide cables you can tell are only meant
to reach optical drives) as well as reinstall windows.
For the record - I did get a couple strange I/O errors on
bootup with my old drive that are now gone with my new SATA drive.
The install works fine now, so my best guess is that it has
something to do with the drive since both install attempts were
done on fresh installs of vista.
Anyways, thanks for the help... sorry I didn't have a better
solution to my problem since not everyone is going to go buy a new
hdd to fix their install problems lol

  • Fireworks CS3 Font too Small

The font size in my Fireworks CS3 displays much smaller then that in Photoshop CS3 or MS Word by comparison.
For example in Fireworks I set  the font  Ariel 10pt  100% ,  it looks much smaller on the screen than the same in Photoshop.
If in Fireworks I set the font Ariel 14pt 100% it looks on the screen about the same size as Photoshop 10pt 100%
When I export the text as a .gif or .jpg  the text is still smaller than the same files exported in Photoshop.
How do I correct this problem in Fireworks, so that the font size is the same as other applications?

I located what might be the preferences txt file:
    C:\\Programs\Adobe\Adobe Fireworks CS3\Configuration\Installer\userPreferences.txt
This file is empty.  I deleted it. I restarted Fireworks and closed it, but it did not create a new one.
I may have got the wrong file, but I am unable to locate anyother file that looks like :preferences"
Also in Fireworks at Edit-->Preferences  I don't see anything the relates to font size, and I am just using the defaults here.
Here is what I see with 12pt Arial from Photoshop(blue) and Fireworks (black) at 400%
Thank you for your helpfull suggestions

  • Fireworks CS3 doesn't work in windows 7

Hi Guys, I have used a version 9.0.0.1188 of Fireworks CS3 for a while in my PCs with OS Windows XP and Vista Home without any problem, but now I have a new PC with windows 7, and I can open Fireworks CS3, but then I can't open old files, and I can't save my new works. That is what I have noticed for now. Could it be something related with windows 7?
The Pc has Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 2.2 Ghz, 4.0 Gb RAM, windows 7 Home Premium. Please, some help will be appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Thank you Sarthak,
I downloaded the patch and the problem continues. I will give you the maximum details about my fireworks. I have a copy of Fireworks CS3 in my flashdrive provided with licence from my school to be used in homework task. I have a desktop with XP...in that pc I can open the application directly from my flashdrive or from a copy I did of fireworks CS3 on my desktop in that pc, and all the application works fine. I can do exactly the same from another Laptop with windows vista, and everything is working fine as well.
What I trying to do now is open the same application Fireworks CS3 from my flashdrive or from a copy I did on my desktop in another different Laptop with just one week new coming with windows 7. I can open the application directly from my desktop icon or from my flasdrive, BUT after that, I can't open files or save my new work....even when I close the application, a window shows up asking me if I want to save my work, and if I click YES, it still doesn't allow me, because when I try to close the application again, the same message shows up. Even worse, sometimes the application closes by itself without any command.
I opened the Fireworks 'properties' to set Compatibility with window XP SP3, and didn't work, the same problems remains. That is what I can tell you for now. Thank you.

  • Trouble installing Fireworks CS3

So I've been trying to install Fireworks CS3 for a bit now,
but for some reason I get the error:
"Setup has encountered an error and cannot continue. Contact
    Adobe Customer Support for assistance.
    Internal Error 2739"
I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium.
Any idea how to fix this?

Click Start,, click Run, type the following line, and then
    click OK:
    msiexec /regserver
For 64-bit operating systems, you also need to reregister the
64-bit MSI installer. To do this, click Start, click Run, type the
following line, and then click OK:
    C:\Windows\Syswow64\Msiexec /regserver

  • Fireworks CS3 slow startup

    Hi folks,
I installed CS3 Web Premium last week. Not had chance to play
with it a lot as yet but I have come across one irritation already:
When I launch Fireworks CS3 it takes between 10 and 20 seconds from
the program loading on screen to being able to either open a file
or create a new file. Clicking anywhere (e.g. menus) while waiting
gives a 'Not Responding' error message in the window title bar.
I was wondering if anyone else has had these problems or
knows how I might improve the startup responsiveness.
I'm running CS3 under Windows XP with all patches installed
on a Dell Precision 390 workstation with 4GB RAM.
    Thanks in advance,
    Nigel Hodgetts

    Nigel Hodgetts wrote:

Ok... that's 2 strikes against you right there... ;-) The
    only thing
worse is if you had Norton Antivirus but I guess they're both
    about
    equally crappy (seriously).
First thing I would try would be to exclude the entire
    Fireworks
application folder from VirusScan's real time check and same
    for its
application data folder in Documents and Settings. Ideally, I
    would
ditch Mcaffee and get a good antivirus like AVG or NOD32.
    Both are very
light on resources and will not slow down your system. AVG
    has a free
version but NOD32 is about the best antivirus money can buy
    (it's not
that expensive). I've been running it for over a year now and
    it's the
best I tried. I needed the lightest resources hungry AV
    possible as I'm
a musician and run resources intensive software that needs to
    work well
    in real time.
In your case, the number of fonts is probably a greater cause
    of your
slow FW startup time than McAffee. You really should invest
    in good font
management software. There are free solutions you can look up
    on Google
but the one I prefer is Extensis Suitcase (version 11 came
    out
recently). A cheaper and very good alternative is FontExpert
    from
Proxima Software which had a new version release recently.
Ideally, you should never keep no more than about 50-100
    fonts directly
installed in your Windows font folder and should activate and
    deactivate
fonts on a "as needed" basis using font management software.
    More than
about 300 installed fonts (less on some machines) will
    definitely slow
down your graphic apps startup time and Fireworks is
    especially
sensitive to that. I manage over 5000 fonts (yes, that's 5
    thousand)
with Suitcase but I never have more than about 75-100 fonts
    installed/activated at once.
Some font management software also come with plugins for
    certain apps
that will automatically find and load missing fonts when
    opening a
document. Unfortunately, none come with one for Fireworks
    AFAIK but
FontExpert has one for Illustrator and Suitcase as plugins
    for both
Illustrator and InDesign. Both companies say they'll probably
    produce
more so, if your purchase either, enter official feature
    requests for
missing font loader plugins for Fireworks.
Suitcase has the best font matching algorithm and goes a lot
    deeper than
just the font name to find a match which is very important
    for text
heavy layouts in apps like Illustrator and InDesign (which I
    both use
regularly as well) because minute differences in
    hinting/kerning can
cause unwanted text reflows if you load the wrong version of
    a given font.
In any case, you should see significant load time
    improvements if you
dramatically reduce the number of fonts you have installed in
    your
windows/fonts folder and getting more efficient Antivirus
    software will
    help your entire system's performance.

  • Fireworks CS3 OS X constant crashes with complex files

I recently purchased CS3 and started using Fireworks CS3
instead of Photoshop for web development. Absolutely love it. I
started having crashes, mainly on opening complex files created in
Fireworks CS3. A couple weeks ago I formatted my entire system,
starting completely from scratch, only installing the applications
and fonts that I absolutely needed. Nevertheless, I continue to get
Fireworks crashes, which appear by the logs to be related to a
    memory leak in Fireworks.
If Fireworks only crashed itself, the issue would be bad
enough. But it brings down several other apps with it. The apps are
different each time. Sometimes it crashes Mail and Dashboard
Calendar, sometimes it crashes Firefox and iCal. Rarely does it
crash only itself. And rarely does it crash all programs. It's
usually a random selection of apps.
All other CS3 apps have worked beautifully. All other apps on
the box work great. And the log is filled with stuff like:

Heaven forbid, Linda! How dare a Fireworks user talk about
his problem with yet another buggy Macrodobe product. The nerve!
Telling him to contact your support is like telling him to contact
the man in the moon because you've run out of cheese.
Brian, I share your frustration. Fireworks has become
completely unstable for me with large or complex files on my Mac.
It works much better on my PC though. It has been my experience
that almost all releases of Macrodobe software works this way on a
mac until late in its product cycle.
This, sadly, seems to be the way Macrodobe works though. :(
This is a user to user forum, Brian. There's not much we can
    do about
such issues here. Your best bet would be to contact Adobe
    Customer Service.

  • Fireworks CS3 full of bugs

Fireworks CS3 has potential. But it keeps crashing on me. It
said internal error, when I was changing fonts. I was unable to
save it. Tried it again, and could not reduplicate the error.
Though I did have Word open the previous time.
Then I tried to save later and it said not enough memory,
    which is not true.
Then when I used the scroll button on it, it closed with no
    prompt to save.
I have also noticed that when undoing various actions it
states "undo command prompt" in the menu.
I'm sure they will work these bugs out, but until they do, I
    recommend waiting to upgrade!

Did you buy the Web standard or Web Premium suite? Have you
    had problems
with the other programs in the suite?

  • Fireworks CS3 and Win 7

I just upgraded to Win7 and everything in Fireworks CS3 seems to be working except the brush tool. When trying to paint the cursor is irratic, moves slowing across the picture and I can't control the speed of the brush tool. Is anybody else having this problem and if so do you have a work around?

This was a problem in Vista and the workaround there is to turn off the Aero theme for Fireworks. (CS3 Bitmap tools and Aero are not happy together.)
Not sure if Win7 has the same settings, but it should. Try this: go to the Fireworks folder, right-click on Fireworks.exe, and select Properties. If there's a Compatibility tab, first try setting it to "Disable desktop composition." (Mine's also set to run in XP compatibility mode, but maybe I did that first, it wasn't the ticket, and I added the "Disable desktop composition" checkbox.)
When you start or close Fireworks, your screen might flicker to black as Aero is turned off and on, but otherwise, everything should work okay.
