Fireworks CS4 animated gif - ghosting - Help Please!

I have creadted a skyscrapper ad using Frieworks with a gradient on the background. When it is played on a PC (I use a Mac), there is ghosting of the text. Does anyone know how to get rid of this? It looks fine on my Mac. When I save as an animated gif, I select dither to make the gradient look smoother. Help! Please!

Hi,
Animated gif backgrounds with gradient would definitely look ghosted or distorted because of the way GIF images are generated. Take a look at the solution suggested in this tutorial http://www.smartwebby.com/free_tutorials/website-design-how-to/GIFs-optimization.asp - I think using the Exact setting might make your Animated GIF with gradients smoother.

  • Fireworks cs4 - animated gif

    ok.
Haven't had to do this since cs3.
I have my images collected for each frame of the animation in Fireworks CS4 on separate layers.
I am under the impressions that "States" has replace "Frames".
I create a new state and make layer one visible.
I duplicate the state and make layer two visible.
When I go back to state one layer two is visible instead of just layer one.
It looks like layer visibility is changing across all states.
    What's the trick?
    Thanks.

    Hi Linda,
I'm wondering if you can explain in a bit more detail how to actually place graphics on states as opposed to layers.
If I select the contents of a layer and copy them, then go to the states panel, select the specific state i want the content on, and paste... it doesn't seem to do anything but create a new layer in my layers panel. If I turn off layers from one state to the next, it turns them off for all states.
I made many layers in Photoshop, expecting to be able to open the file in Fireworks, make states, and just turn on and off layers to create my animation. This worked with earlier versions of Fireworks (back when GIF banners were the standard format for online ads... I know, I'm a dinosaur).
I've been trying to get this to work for hours, and finding this very unintuitive and frustrating.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

What happened is that you picked a factory preset from the
Saved Settings dropdown menu. If you don't want to use presets,
just ignore that top-most dropdown menu. Use the rest of the
options to set your values: as long as you specify Animated GIF in
the upper left dropdown menu and pick a palette, the Optimize
    function still works as intended.
Btw, If you need to use your values regularly, it's a good
idea to save them as a custom preset so that will show up in the
Saved Settings menu, along with the factory presets.
    Hope that helps. :-)

  • CS4 animated gif imported from Flash - how to link

I have a few animated gifs published from Flash CS4 the files have clickTag info in the actionscript but Flash will not export that so I need to make the animated .gifs click to their respective links.
How do I do in Photoshop CS4?
    any help??
    rdef

Photoshop can produce animated GIF files but I'm confused by your request.
You cannot embed any linking data in a GIF file. This is done in HTML.

  • Animated .gif header help!

I have been asked to create an animated header using a .gif because the client wants the animation viewable on iPhones.  How can I get a logo to "wipe" while using a transparent background?  I tried using a mask but you see the white box.  Is there anyway to create this effect using a transparent background?

Animated gifs are much easier to do in Fireworks. It's made for the format, more so than Photoshop is. PS only works with one frame at a time while Fireworks is desgined to work with the entire set.

  • Animated Gif Editing Help

Im trying to add a face to every layer of the gif, so i can move the head, eyes, and mouth.. when i add the image of the face to layer 1 of the animated gif, its good, i hit play and the first frame is the head and it disapears on the second, but when i duplicate and edit the face and put it above the second frame of the animated gif the origional face gets edited aswell, making it unable to create the illusion of the eyes moving from one place to the other, how can i have different images of the face on every frame of the video?

    Hi,
What version of Ps do you have and what platform are you using? Are you working with video content for the layer changes, or do you have a still that you're manupulating?

  • Animated GIF problem. Please HELP!

the problem is that, when i open some of my GIF type documents, they show up as bigger-as if blackberry automatically resizes them and i can only see a part of the image. if you know any possbile solution to this problem, please tell me! thank you!

The "Do Not Disconnect" screen will continue to stay displayed on your iPod, simply because you either have Disk Use enabled, or you are manually managing your iPod's songs.
If you are automatically syncing songs to your iPod, then disable disk use.
    For more info, see this:
    Enabling Disk Use for iPod
If you are manually managing your iPod's songs, then you will have to eject it from your computer before unplugging it to make it safe to disconnect.

  • Animated gif color help

Hello, I shot a sequence of photos for a stopmotion and have been having issues with color.  It was shot on a green screen and so I used keylight to remove it, made the sequence, it all looks fine in AE, render it and when I open it afterward, the colors are off and pixelated and just terrible. I've tried both web and system colors and am just lost. The adobehelp site says that you can make your own color palette in photoshop if you need it and so I made one, but when I browse for it in AE, it doesn't recognize the file. It's very frustrating. Please help!

What exactly do you do? Sounds like you don't even understand how the GIF format (or any palette based format for that matter) works and what the limitations are and thus are using a completely wrong workflow. Anyway, you cannot load custom swatches/ palettes in AE, since it doesn't have an indexed color mode. Futile exercise. For the rest: Render a normal Quicktime, AVI or image sequence, import it into Photoshop as a video layer. Then export via Save for Web and Devices or Device Central. Any palette adjustmens can best be done there.

  • Fireworks 8 not exporting correctly - Help please!

I'm having a problem with files that were originaly created
in Fireworks 4 several years ago and have been updated in Fireworks
MX then MX2004. They are complicated disjointed rollovers which
involve twelve frames under one slice. When exporting to
Dreamweaver HTML it created that file with twelve frame images (as
in r10_c1.jpg, r10_c1_f2.jpg, r10_c1_f3.jpg, etc). All the other
images were just one file. As it should be. No problems for years
until now, with Fireworks 8, I get 12 frame images for every single
slice! A huge waste of my time going in and deleting literally
hundreds of unwanted files for every html page I generate for my
client's site. This is NOT the way Fireworks has always worked. I
consider this a major flaw and will not purchase the upgrade unless
it it fixed. I'm now spending hours trying to fix this **** mess!
    WebDevDiva

Thanks Linda for responding to our issue. If you look at the
website I am referring to, you will see why I need to be able to
export the way I used to in all the previous versions of Fireworks
    (back to 4 anyway).
    http://www.artwaresjewelry.com/stewart.html
I don't generate entire html pages with Fireworks just the
main content area that I apply my page templates to in Dreamweaver.
This site has 20 "featured jewelry designers" and each of them has
    12 items to a page.
When you click on a thumbnail image it creates two disjointed
rollovers. One changes the large image on the page to the large
image that corresponds to the thumbnail image that was clicked. The
other changes the image below that has the description and price of
the item. These each require 12 frames. Also on each designer page
as needed are two simple rollovers for previous and next. These
require two frames. The rest of the images only need one frame.
I much prefer to do one export rather than have to export
each slice seperately or even worse each frame seperately. I'm sure
that there is a better way to accomplish this today but this site
was originally built when Fireworks 4 and UltraDev were new.
Rebuilding it would be a major project that my client would not be
willing to fund at this point.
I still wish someone in software development would address
this issue and why the export behavior is not working the way it
used to. Maybe if they would post something on the emerging issues
    for Fireworks 8 section...
    Thanks,

  • Black pixels in animated gif??

Hi, I've got this game where I use gif's in a loop to make animations, what I don't understand though is when I use small animations they work fine but when I use bigger animations at the end of the animation a black stripe starts to form at the bottom of the image that grows bigger. Also it waves at little at the top of the black rectangle. I thought this was very strange, the images work normally when opened with any image viewing program. They even work in java but not when displayed in a long animation.
Does anyone know why this happens and if there is a way around this?
    thnx

    Hunt,
That's a very nice tutorial, not to mention an elegant way to handle slides with different aspect ratios. I've run into that problem myself, and always just cropped as needed using a plain black background. The "frames" around the photos were also a nice touch.
I looked at the source code for your response and saw how you embedded that video using JavaScript. Looked around online, and found Adobes "official" script, along with an exhaustive explanation of all the parameter settings at: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/127/tn_12701.html
Adobe claims 98% penetration for Flash Player, so that's pretty good and makes it a fine choice for streaming videos, given all the clutter and extra baggage you get using YouTube. I will definitely give it a try. Thanks!
By the way, I think I figured out where those ghosts in the animated GIF were coming from. I went back into Premiere, exported the entire project as an uncompressed avi, and it played just fine with no ghosting. So I imported it into Premiere as a new project, did the export as animated GIF, and the ghosting was back.
I can only conclude that the GIF conversion process itself is flawed. Probably something with the way it parses the content, and shows up most when you have transitions with high contrast background and text. I guess it's time for the animated GIF to go the way of the floppy disc.
Thanks again for your help. If any forum member searchs for "animated + GIF + ghosting" they'll find this thread, and we'll have hopefully saved them some time figuring out why it's happening.

  • Help with animated gif please!

Can you embed an animated gif into emails as a signature? i
have tried it in entourage and outlook, but the gif seems to stick
on the first frame. The animation works fine if viewed in a browser
etc. I have also made the email html format.
    any ideas?

Open your browser and browse to and select the animated GIF
    image. Do you
see the animation? If not, then you have not properly
    exported your GIF as
an animated one. What graphics program are you using?

  • [PLEASE HELP!] Converting Flash (fla) to Animated Gif (gif) becomes pixelated!!!!

    Hey guys,
Wondering if anyone can urgently help me please.
I've got a FLA file making an animated banner.
When I export it as an animated GIF, the background (which
originally is a solid color) has either dots or crosses making up
    the color.
I've tried different settings such as dithering, changing the
palette but have had no luck. And I'm using one of the 256 colors.
Using a FLA that did have a good solid bg converted animated
GIF, I tried to export that one as well and it comes up with the
    same problem.
So that means it's not the color/fla that is wrong, but is my
exporting to animated gif method. Any help please?
Attached is how the background turns out:
    http://img403.imageshack.us/my.php?image=86993715ss7.gif
    http://img140.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bg2wf9.png

And also when I try the publish method, the text either
produces some whacked up image or just see a sort of white box
    shape around the original text.
