Fireworks CS4: Batch-processing fails

Dear Helpers,  I need your advice for solving a problem concerning the batch-processing with Fireworks CS4 on WinXP. A few days before there was no problem witch "batching". But now, after choosing the image files, the batch process stops by closing the "batch"-window.  Can anybody help?  Thanks for your answers.  Oli

Hey... solved it! Changed the background color in almost 2,000 jpegs. Heres how:
Photoshop CS4, first define a color in an AXT file:
Open test image, image, adjustments, replace color. use eye dropper to sample the background color, bring hue, saturation, and lightness bars all the way to the right (background color now turnd white), click save (save the definition AXT file, you will need to reference it later).
Now create a new action called "replace color", have test image open (with original background that you want to change), start record and do this to record the action:
Image, adjustments, replace color. Click load and select the AXT file, click load (the background color now turns white with the loaded AXT definition). Click ok. save file. Stop record action.
Now run a batch command and use that action you just recorded: File, automate, batch, select your new action in the play section, select the folder of files to process and the destination... click ok to run the batch.
I changed the "background" color in 2,000 estore product images of various sizes (thumbnail, medium, and large sizes) in about 15 minutes. Wow! I knew there had to be a way.
Hope it helps lots of people, 'cause it sure is a common need.
Cheers,
Carl

  • CS4 Batch processing only processes half the files!

    I scan 6x6 negs on an Epson scanner and when they are done they need to be rotated 90 degrees and flipped horizontaly. I set up an action to do this (Rotate, Flip, Save and Close) and everything was going swimmingly - then recently I've started having problems.
    For example - I've scanned 60 images which I select in Bridge and then open them in PS CS4. I select Automate>Batch and then select my saved action and away it goes. PS chugs its way through the 60 photo's and closes them all (so it looks like they have all been processed), but when I go back to Bridge and it starts refreshing the thumbnails only 30 of them have been rotated and flipped. So then I select the remaining 30 images and batch process them - this time it only processes 15 and so on. This is really annoying as if I get down to around 9 images it won't process any of them!
    Any ideas?
    Cheers
    Simon

    Curt Y's comments sound good to me, too.
    As a "test," try your action on a folder and check Bypass Open (that option should still be in CS4) and see if that handles all of the folder - after you take Curt's advice. Though Batch normally just Opens one at a time, and the computer should recover the resources used for that one on Close, it might not be happening for you.
    Good luck, and let us know if anything works,
    Hunt
    Also, you might want to add your full system specs. if you still have the issue. I'd pay very close attention to the I/O sub-system, i.e. the HDD's, their speed, size, free space, controller type and how they are allocated on your system.

  • Batch processing fails after 454 (or so) files are processed

    I'm using batch actions to export a collection of Freehand (fh11) files to various other formats (emf, swf, etc.). It's a simple process - load the freehand file, export it to the desired format, close the image. Everything works swimmingly for the first 454 files (give or take a few), after which I get the message that "the file 'whatever.fh11' is in an unknown format and cannot be opened". The batch stops and I can't even manually open this or any other valid fh11 file. The indicated fh11 file is indeed valid - once I shut down Illustrator I have no problem loading it.
    I've thus far converted 20,000 or so fh11 files using batch actions and have had to restart Illustrator every 454 files during this process. Anyone have any ideas?

    Without knowing more about the files, I would recommend to just reduce the number of files you're processing in a single Batch process.
    Sometimes, especially if there are too many files, Illustrator's Batch process gets confused and strange things may happen then.

  • Bridge CS4 - Batch processing

    Would like to batch process a file of JPEG Photo's to TIFF format can this be done in Bridge.
    Regards Brian

    Would like to batch process a file of JPEG Photo's to TIFF format can this be
    done in Bridge.
    As Curt already provided, the image processor can do so, although I don't
    have to go to Output for that, might be Windows related... ?
    Besides that you have the option to open the selected jpeg files with right
    mouse click in ACR and after selecting them all again in ACR filmstrip mode
    (cmd+A) click on the 'Save Image' button bottom left in ACR window and
    choose tiff and a destination folder.
    And an other option would be to create an action in PS for this and in
    Bridge select al the jpeg files together and choose from the menu
    Tools/Photoshop/Batch and inhere select the action you have created

  • Batch Processing fails since upgrading tree

    I've got a customer who has a custom legacy dos executable that runs a
    batch file, maps a drive, and sends an attachment to one of their remote
    4.11 servers. Until recently, this has worked wonderful for them.
    However, in the past week, we have added a 6.5 server to the tree and
    before doing so, we had to upgrade all the servers to run DS 6.21.
    Since doing this, some (not all) of the runs have stopped working. For
    some reason, some of the servers we try to connect to, we're getting an
    error now when we attempt to run our batch commands. The error is 89FC
    (Can not get connection status) and our map fails, and then our batch
    fails. Actually, what happens is is the user we're trying to map with
    has no password, but when we run our batch file, it now asks us for a
    password for about 5 of the servers we do this with. The other servers
    work fine, just these 5 servers no longer work.
    We use a very old version of map.exe because our application is memory
    bound and this map.exe is 48K.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    I am having some of the same problems except the server that is requiring a password (and did not used to) is the master replica. Any ideas? We use this server to store document images and we have a user that we used to connect to through DOS batch files (up until we upgraded the server to NW 6.5/OES sp7). It now requires a password no matter what we do. Even if we have a password on the user login, it gets the following error :
    Can not get connection status (89fc)
    I cannot find a way around this. Any ideas would be great.

    If any of your images are over 6000 pixels wide ot tall, FW
    won't
    process them.

  • Batch process recovery in ODI

    I am very new to ODI.
    I just want to know is there any solution available in ODI so that if any batch process fails then I can recover the data??
    or is it so that in ODI when a batch process fails no data is get affected??

    If the connection falls, then it depends on the JDBC driver used by ODI to connect the DBMS.
    - If the driver reports that the connection is down, this will put the session in error.
    - Most drivers just wait for a reply from the server, assuming that some "very long" processing is currently in progress on the database. ODI will also remain there, waiting for a database response. You would have to stop the session separately.
    And yes, you can restart sessions in error.

  • Please Help, Issues when batch processing Multi Frame images in Fireworks

    I hope someone will know how to do this and tell me where I am going wrong.
    Objective 1
    I have a large number of images that all have the exact same number of frames (4) and are all exactly the same size that I want to get resized, cropped and water marked (when I say 'watermarked I mean have my websites logo pasted in a specificlocation on each frame, I have my websites logo as a seperate .png file which I copy from).
    Current Process
    I create a command which will crop the image then paste my companys url/log onto the first frame, move it to the correct location on the frame then copy it again and then paste it onto each of the other frames, the command then resizes the image tot he exact proportions I want.
    I start a batch process and use my command, making sure that I also export from the .png to animated gif (and I edit the settings to make it 256 animated gif).
    Error 1
    The process described above resizes and crops my images however it does NOT put the watermark in the correct place, it seems to put it int he right place on the first frame and then in a different place on all the followingn frames thus giving the effect of the watermark jumping around. Which is obviously NOT what I want.
    Question 1
    Please let me know what process I should be following to correct the Error 1 above.
    Objective & Question 2
    I want to do exactly the same thing as shown above but this time the files have a varying number of frames (from 2 to 45 frames (or instances as CS4 seems to call them)). Is there a way to paste my logo to the to the exact same location on ALL frames?
    Other information
    I have tried WHXY Paste extension and I can not see how to use that to solve the issue. I have also tried 'Paste in Place' however I can not see how to use the Paste In Place extension as it is not appering in my list of commands.
    Many thanks in advance for your help.
    Andy

    Andy, you could start a batch process which will do most of the things you are asking for. THe batch process can be done using Fireworks. The right way to start is going to Archivo / Procesar por Lotes and then follow all the different option this tool has to offer.  Yes, I know I gave you the names in Spanish but that is the way I use Adobe Fireworks.
    I hope this was usefull for you!

  • Can fireworks batch processing work as a background process?

    Hi,m
    I have a simple problem.  Whenever I am batch processing a large number of images (fireworks cs4 windfows 7 64bit) fireworks steals focus every time it starts work on a new image so I can't work on other things while it works.  This is frustrating since I am working on a powerful mulkticore computer and need to crack on while fireworks does its thang.
    Is there a way to tell fireworks to work in the background and stay quiet until I go back to it?
    Jim

    You speak of a problem that exists in CS4 and is fixed in CS5. Unfortunately, there is no easy fix for CS4...
    1) On Windows XP Professional, if you use a tiny app by Microsoft, called "TweakUI", you can set a setting that is called "Prevents applications from stealing focus". Once the setting is active, Fireworks CS4 (and older versions) cannot steal focus in WinXP, no matter what -- including batch processing.
    2) But for Windows 7, there exists no such app, so TweakUI is not an option... You may try a trial of Fireworks CS5 and see if it works better for you; or you can try to find an app, similar to TweakUI, but for Windows 7.
    Hope this helps!

  • CS4 open script using Bridge batch processing

    I wrote a script in CS to open a logo file (.psd) and copy it onto a photo
    Since upgrading to CS4 the script will not work with batch processing in bridge. It does work in Photoshop on a single image however.
    Here is my open script....when I batch process it brings up an open dialog instead of just opening the file
    ///CODE
    var activeDoc = activeDocument;
    var logoDoc = open(File("/c/stlg.psd"), OpenDocumentType.PHOTOSHOP, false);

    That didn't work either :(
    I was looking at the OpenDocument.jsx sample in the scripting samples directory and tried batch processing it....it opens a photoshop sample psd file and it worked...though I don't understand the code or why my code above won't work
    /////OpenDocument.jsx code
    //var strSamplesFolderDirectory = localize( "$$$/LocalizedFilenames.xml/SourceDirectoryName/id/Extras/[LOCALE]/[LOCALE]_Samples/value =Samples" );
    //var strSampleFileNameLayerComps = localize ("$$$/LocalizedFilenames.xml/SourceFileName/id/Extras/[LOCALE]/[LOCALE]_Samples/Layer_Com ps.psd/value=Layer Comps.psd");
    var fileRef = new File(app.path.toString() + "/" + strSamplesFolderDirectory + "/" + strSampleFileNameLayerComps);
    open (fileRef);
    fileRef = null;

  • Batch Process for creating button sets in Fireworks - help

    Hi,
    I'm new to Fireworks still, I've created some really simple
    buttons and I was wondering if it's possible to do a batch process
    on them to repeat a few steps e.g. changing background colour,
    border colour, text colour etc... It would save me lots of time and
    I could make some extra sets then.
    Thanks,

    Actually Find and Replace will go through a directory as

  • Selected pics in Bridge don't open in Fireworks batch process

    I am trying to do a batch process in Fireworks CS3, initiated from Bridge CS3.
    If I select images in Bridge, then select Tools/Photoshop/Image Processor, and then run the action, the selected photos in Bridge are then processed.
    However, trying a similar procedure: select photos, then Tools/Fireworks/Batch Process... the Batch Process Window does not open, but just the Startup dialog. If you then choose Batch Process, it doesn't recognize the selected photos in Bridge.
    Am I missing something or is this a bug?
    Thanks
    Peter

    Nick ..
    If it's the latest version ......... I have it (and therein might be my downfall whilst others upgade to be compatible with each other!!) .... except I must do an upgrade to the latest 2013 NIS, something on the Christmas spare time list to do (no emoticons for that ..... shame!!).
    AMAZINGLY .... today .... something .... somewhere said, 'you can now view the embedded pics in Yahoo'. I did not do a thing .... promise!! It just happened.
    That's the wonder of computers and software!! Just chill and maybe it will all happen/sort itself. Having been doing 'this' stuff for a 'few' years (or more!!) now, nothing really fazes me anymore. Just work round it or live with it!!
    Be sure .... be very sure, that I will come back if detect further problems and thanks for your great advices.
    My best wishes to you, and all readers of this thread for Christmas and the New Year.

  • Question about Batch processes in CS4

    Hello everyone,
    I was hoping there's a solution to my problem. My laptop's MoBo died recently so I wil be retrieving data from my HDD via another laptop. I created a Batch process in CS4 to resize and perform a few more actions on pictures. I was hoping to save that Batch process without having to recreate it. Are batch processes made by the user saved in a particular folder that I can just go into and copy?
    Thanks in advance for your help!
    Riley

    Did you save the action as an *.atn file using the context menu of the palette?
    If not, then the action is only "present" in one of the preferences files, together with all the other preferences.
    You can try to copy the preferences files, but I don't know whether the action will "come to life".
    Of course it must be the same version of photoshop on your other PC.
