Fireworks CS4 discounted or free for CS3 owners

Hello Adobe!,
I just noticed your new Fireworks CS4 product and wondered if
you'll offer a discounted or free upgrade for all of us Mac users
who just couldn't work properly with the CS3 version and been
waiting for a fix?
Hope you get something right this time.
Mic

Thanks for the tip Alex.
Unfortunately I already had tried that and the site did not
accept my
Master Collection serial number.
All went fine when I used the serial from one of our Design
Premium
collections, so now I'm a happy "beta tester" :)

  • I purchased Black Friday deal but in my products I see offer for CS3 owners

I signed for Black Friday deal - Photoshop + Lightroom + 20GB for 12 euro per month. Everything installed and works, but when I enter my products and subscriptions I see that I own deal for CS3 owners. Is it a bug in the system or I made bad purchase? How to fix it?

    Hi Jacek
The promotion was originally only available for CS3+ customers but for a limited time we're making it available to everyone.
You've purchased the correct plan and it doesn't need to be fixed.
    Sorry for any confusion caused.
    Kind regards

  • Photography Pricing for CS3+ Owners

    Hi,
I have CS6 and LR4 and am interested in the CC Photography subscription.  When an announcement was made in September, it said that for current owners, the pricing would be $9.99/mo, and that this wasn't an introductory price.  I'm looking for confirmation somewhere on the Adobe site for this.  Anyone know where it can be found?  I can still find the Adobe Blog announcement article ( http://blogs.adobe.com/creativelayer/introducing-the-photoshop-photography-program/ ) but clicking the link posted there takes you to the special offer for non-owners (which expires Dec 2nd, not Dec 31st).
I basically want to confirm that I have till the 31st of Dec to sign up for $9.99/mo and that this pricing will last as long as I have a subscirption in good standing.  Anyone know where I can find the answer?
    Cheers!

    Hi eyeofraphoto
If you have a qualifying version of Photoshop CS6 then you have until 31st December to sign up for the Photoshop Photography program.
The renewal terms state "After the first 12 months, we will automatically renew your contract based on the current price of the offering."
This means the monthly price for the program may change in the future (up or down). We don't have plans to change the price, but just like all of our other prices for our services and products, the prices may change in the future.
You are not guaranteed that the price you pay per month will be $9.99 forever. It may go up, it may go down.
Unlike some of our other Creative Cloud promotions, where you get an introductory price for a year, and then after a year, it goes up to the regular price, the price for the photography bundle is the regular price. So, once you have been a member via the Photography program a year, your price does not automatically go up.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks

Where? Surely you are misinterpreting that - it has Spry

I use DWCS4 and FWsCS3 and haven't had any problems.
I do have the latest version of FWs, however, find it a real
resource hog and found that I had to
restart this version more times during the day than I ever
did with FWs CS3. So now I use the older
    version rather than the latest.
I can run FWs CS3 for 2+ days straight without having any
"low memory" errors, but the latest
version will stop responding after a few hours. Apparently
Adobe is looking into this, but when a
fix will be found is unknown.
I don't believe you'll have any problems combining versions.

The lastest DW is better than the last, as most new releases
are, but it's really up to you whether
you see the value in updating. Have a look at the Adobe site
and check out the new features and
then decide whether the upgrade is worth it for you :-)

  • Missing fonts in CS4. Works fine in CS3.

    Hello,
When I open a file created with Fireworks CS3 that contains a
particular typeface. Fireworks prompts me that the system cannot
find this font. However, the font is active on my system and when
opening the document in CS3 it opens without any errors. If I
choose to update legacy text in CS4 it does not read the typeface
name the same as it did in CS3.
    http://wonderfulunion.com/dropbox/missingfonts.jpg
Does the new Fireworks CS4 read fonts differently from CS3?
Such as by family name vs. font name.
When I try to access the particular typeface I'm using. It
does not show the weights that I had been using in CS3.
For instance the typeface I was using was "Vag Rounded".
    This typeface shows up as:
    18 VAG Rounded Black 09390
    18 VAG Rounded Bold 07390
    18 VAG Rounded Light02390
    18 Vag Rounded Thin 55390
A total of 4 available fonts.
In CS3 this shows up as all 4 potential options.
However, CS4 it only shows up as VAGRounded.
I have posted a screenshot of how the font menu
    differentiates between the programs.
    http://wonderfulunion.com/dropbox/cs3_cs4_fontissue.jpg
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Demetre

    Sarthak,
Unfortunately, that box is empty. I do understand what you
are referring to on a typeface and it's unique weights listed.
However, nothing is in the box.
    Thanks.

  • Fireworks CS4 Internal error when starting

    Hello,
Have upgraded to CS4 Web Premium yesterday. Everything seems
to working fine except for Fireworks.
When trying to load it says 'Fireworks can not be started,
internal error occurred' . This always happens on the splash screen
    at the point 'Initializing Tools'
I have tried re-installing, I have tried removed Application
Data and renaming the Control Panels folder (read this somewhere as
something to try) but nothing resolves the problem.
At the moment I have to revert to using Fireworks CS3 which
continues to work without any problems.
    Help!
    Cheers
    Neil

message appeared twice in the same message box).
I resolved this issue by deleting my Fireworks CS4
    "configuration" folder.
For Vista users you can find this folder under
    C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\. Sorry XP users
but I don't know the exact path for you but will assume that it is
    something like C:\Documents and
    Settings\<username>\Application Data\Adobe\.
I renamed the "Fireworks CS4" folder to "Fireworks CS4 OLD"
(just so I could access it again if need be). When I relaunched
Firefox CS4, the "configuration" folder was recreated and my
problem disappeared (along with any preferences and workspaces that
I had created - but hey that is better than NOT being able to
    access the application fullstop).
I hope this can help you all.
I did that. I even deleted the whole Adobe folder and still
    having no luck.
I can only try and reinstall Windows Vista :(
When you say that you deleted the whole Adobe folder do you
    mean the one I described
    (C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\)? The only reason
I ask is that you say in your earlier post that you were playing
    around with "Program Files/Adobe/Fireworks CS4".

  • End of Upgrade Cycle for CS3 and CS4... Really Adobe?

As if business wasn't bad enough now I see there will be no upgrade paths past december for CS3 and 4 users. Is this how Adobe plans to keep users away from stopping their upgrades and reducing the number of machines they run Adobe products on? I understand Adobe is not a non-profit and has has to turn a revenue, but the geniuses at Marketing here have made a huge mistake by basically telling their customers that what they have so far will be worth zilch in comes 2013. That arbitrary deadline, is not consider some people who on the east coast are now cash strapped as anyone having to choose between home repairs and other such marvelous stuff and upgrading to CS6 guess what they'll choose. And for the lucky ones not heavily affected by the storms, they will donate to help their community before they will spend money to upgrade perfectly good software.
It wasn't enough that the upgrade path wasn't much of a discount, but in the current economy every penny counts! The choice of stopping support for CS3 and CS4 in my personal opinion an ill-advised move. I personally went from 3 to 4 within a short amount of time... then when 5 came out my budget didn't allow so I needed to wait. The new CS6 isn't direly needed so I decided I'd have to loose some additional "upgrade power" because money need to be directed elsewhere now... but the news that I'd loose all the upgrade power and would have kept on upgrading for nothing it's just ridiculous... and if that's the treatment a customer will have to expect from now on I think I'll use what I have and move to alternatives stopping to personally support Adobe products an rely on licensed copies at work instead. Perhaps Adobe hasn't notices we aren't exactly doing that great in US between the current economical situation, the various setbacks experienced across the country and for the fact that in this particular business most work is often being outsourced out of US these days... I am sure you will have a huge market on the countries where the outsourced work is being sent... as far as I am concerned comes 12/31/2013 I will no longer be an Adobe customer as Adobe is forcing me out of the upgrade cycle and I won't plan to re-enter anytime soon in the coming future... lesson learnt.
Thank you for your time (if any of the marketing gurus will have cared to read this far without laughing and discounting with a "screw those old customers, they should've upgraded earlier" which was basically the content of the email I got this week... pasted below)
    Cheers,
    tfbkny
Content of email received from Adobe saying last chance to upgrade now or what you got will be worthless in less than a couple months.
    Dear Creative Suite customer:
We want to make sure you're aware of an important change to Adobe's upgrade policy that may affect you.
Beginning January 1, 2013, only Creative Suite customers with licenses for CS5 or CS5.5 versions will qualify for upgrade pricing to CS6.
Due to this change, we will only continue offering CS3 and CS4 customers like you special upgrade pricing through December 31, 2012.*
    * Owners of CS3 and CS4 individual products and suite editions will be eligible to receive upgrade pricing to CS6 until December 31, 2012. After that date, only customers on CS5 or CS5.5 will qualify for upgrade pricing to CS6.

Adobe doesn't care, they don't have to. I like Phsotoshop and have been using it professionally for 20 years, but lets face it, I wouldnt mind some really good competition from another source. It didnt use to be the only game in town, and doesnt have to remain so.
I could brainstorm how I would want competing software to look like. Pshop is not the easiest workflow possible. Illustrator is clearly deficient to even CorelDraw, and certainly Freehand. I've been meaning to reconnect with CorelDraw. It did some cool things.
Google Chrome is pulling a lot of manoevers software wise and I hope they try to go a little deeper and give Adobe a run for their money on the one program they feel justifies unbelievable gouging. Go investigate Ableton Live if you want to see what a company that cares about its customers is doing, ADOBE. Audition is a JOKE compared to Ableton Live. Thank God we're not powned on the audio side by these suits.
The idea that a company would peddle buggy software, which CS4 was..., although some of that was Apple's fault, is bad, the upgrade prices were ridiculous, and this is the end of the road for me currently. The idea that a company would actively
push away customers is pretty incredible. "But I sent you an email!" Whoops, you gotta pay $1900 for production premium CS6! HAHAHAHAHA. Time for a YT video with my old hard copy box. Sounds like a good idea.
There are too many options on the motion graphics side, and I'll keep a static machine to run Pshop and AE CS4.
The masters of the universe will have theit way, and the rest must bow to their ambivalent greed. At least that's the way they think. It would seem that Adobe and Apple really, really want some upstarts to come up. Maybe $360 for a year to figure out an exit might work. It will be interesting to see if this hits earnings. VERY interesting.

  • What version of Vista is ideal for CS3/CS4?

    Hi all,
I'm thinking of moving to vista 64. What version of vista is the best for CS3 or CS4?

That sounds good for a business Laptop. Not sure it'll be all that useful for an editing workstation, especially if you have to pay more for it.
I'm also curious about the Enterprise edition. It's not listed on the Vista web site. There's Business and Ultimate, but no Enterprise.
I'm also not seeing any reason why Home Basic wouldn't actually be the best choice. The missing features aren't really needed for editing. And it has the advantage of being a lighter OS (and less expensive as well.)

  • Upgrade from CS2 to CS4 but use serial for a CS3 install?

So, we do not want to go to CS4 just yet.
Is there any way to buy a CS4 license but just install CS3 for now?

A disc (for CS3 which we have from other seats on the company BTW) is just a<br />disc, it's the serial that is important for licensing, that's why Adobe just<br />send out bits of paper these days and you can download a trial or an<br />installer and activate that, DOH!<br /><br /><br />On 19/02/2009 16:52, in article [email protected], "Buko"<br /><[email protected]> wrote:<br /><br />> How can you install CS3 if you don't have CS3?

My experience is that there are certain .ttf fonts that are great in Windows but not at all compatible with Mac, and they can cause issues with software that uses fonts.
    Case in point:
I have two PCs and a MacBook. I have virtually Identical software suites on them all (Office, CS4, PSElements, Full sets of browsers). I also have a font library of around 5,000 fonts.
Until last month, I just ran them all from the system fonts folder.  On the PCs, this lead to slooooooooooooowwwwwwwww running in all of CS4 and Word in Office especially when I had to change a font.
On the Mac, it kept Fireworks from launching altogether. It would just crash at the splash screen.
Since I work from Time Machine and ghost backups, reformatting a hard drive and reloading everything is just an afternoon for me. I reloaded all three systems, this time with Suitcase Fusion to manage my fonts. It comes with FontDoctor to ID any bad fonts before setting up a library from the full set.
On the PCs it ID'd about 35 bad fonts and I chose to eliminate them. On the Mac, it ID'd about 135. Again, I did away with them.
End result: Office 2007 and the 2010 Beta are lightning fast now by comparison, and on the Mac, Fireworks is fully functional.
Since the only thing I changed, was the fonts (removing bad ones from each system and using a manager to activate them) I can safely say that fonts will have an impact on your software.
If FontBook ID'd them as bad, dump them. They'll likely cause more trouble than they're worth if you don't.

  • A stability/bugfix update is coming soon for Fireworks CS4!

    Great news! Read here:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/fireworks/2010/03/fireworks_cs4_update_coming_so.html
As you know, Fireworks CS4 has some issues remaining, that were not solved by the latest 10.0.3.011 patch. The Fireworks Team and Adobe were listening! So a soon-to-come patch (2-3 months from now, I think) will try to address some of the most serious problems remaining in Fireworks CS4 -- the "crash on quit", and various other serious bugs that exist on the Mac and Win version of Fireworks CS4.
Please, post any important issues that you experience in Fireworks CS4 here:
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
Select "Fireworks" in the drop-down list, and describe the bug the best you can. All info that you will post this way will be directly received by the Fireworks team and investigated!
Your feedback is needed by the Fw team, so here's your chance to be heard, and to see soon a much more stable and better working Fireworks CS4! So please help!

As you know, a soon-to-be-released patch for Fireworks CS4 is announced!
Fireworks team needs a bit more testers for CS4, so if you:
    1) Use  Fireworks CS4 every day, and a lot, (no matter if you are on Windows or a Mac),
    2) Have issues with Fireworks  CS4 -- slow performance, NOT ENOUGH MEMORY bugs, INTERNAL ERRORs, etc.,
    3)  Are willing to spend some time testing a Fireworks CS4 patch that will  address some of these issues, and also log a bug or two on your own,
Then please,  contact Bruce Bowman! (He is Fireworks product manager)
Email Bruce Bowman at: bbowman at adobe dotcom
Bruce is currently looking for people  willing to test a bug fixing/performance improvement patch for Fireworks  CS4!
