Fireworks CS4 hangs on install

I am attempting to install Fireworks CS4 from an Adobe DVD
sent to me by mail. When I get past the licensing agreement, I get
a "prepaing to install" message. The process will go no farther
than that. I even left it in that state overnight with no progress
this morning.
I found a post online somewhere that said to delete the
install log file and reboot. Did that. Same hanging result. I've
seen other problems ahead dealing with fonts and loading, but I'm
certainly not even that far in the process. I can't even get the
program installed. Guess I'll have that to battle later (hope not
though).
Any solutions to resolve this problem would be appreciated.

Ok, I got this working, FINALLY!
Out of desparation, I uninstalled just about all of my Adobe
software. Then I cleaned the Adobe entries in the Registry and
removed the excess Application Data from my c:\Documents and
Settings folder. Then I rebooted my computer and disabled my
Antivirus software. I was able to install the entire Master
Collection without any errors.
This was a waste of a perfectly good week. It would have been
helpful if the install program did this for me. My company paid
good money for this software, not to mention my time to
troubleshoot the installation. I have no beta software on this
computer so I'm not sure how I got into this state.

Fireworks CS4 doesn't install with Windows 7 RTM

I have installed Adobe Master Suite into Windows 7 RTM without any problems.. but I have attempted many times to install Fireworks CS4 but it stalls while doing the initial system check at 90% done. I have set the 'setup' file to Vista compatibility with administrative mode... still stalls... Does anyone know if it's something with a real incompatiblity with Window 7 or something that I'm not doing (or missing)...
Any help would sure be appreciated. (the client is getting pretty cranky now.... )

I have downloaded all of the trial applications from Adobe and all installed perfectly with the exception of Firefox. This leads me to the assumption that the problem is with the application and not the operating system.
Back to the original post... has anyone managed to install Firefox CS4 using Windows 7 RTM or later ???

CS4 hangs while installing Adobe Media Player

I am installing CS4 Design Premium on a MacBook. I can get past selecting what to install and when clicking install it does start to install the program. However, when it starts to install adobe media player it just hangs there. I have left it over night just in case this app takes a long time, but no luck in doing that.
Any suggestions? I would highly appreciate it.

Installation issues are handled by tech support for free.

Fireworks CS4 toolbars not loading properly

Downloaded Fireworks CS4, and after installing it noticed that some of the toolbars are "missing".
Well, not actually missing, but just transparent....I can see my desktop background through the workspace.
Is this a driver compatibility issue, or some setting that I need to check?
I have included a pic of what my workspace looks like.

you could also try:
resetting FWs preferences:
Close FWs
Browse to the Preference file location, as per your OS.
Windows [Drive]:\Documents and Settings\[UserName]\Application Data\Adobe\Fireworks CS#\English\
Mac [User]/Library/Preferences/Adobe Fireworks CS#/en/Fireworks Preferences
Delete the Fireworks CS# Preferences.txt file associated with your current FW version.
Restart FW and try again
(supplied by Heathrowe in another thread - the preferences file was the one I was searching for at the support docs but couldn't find :-)

Can't open Fireworks CS4 Trial on Mac

Hi,
I just donwload the Fireworks CS4 Trial and install it with no problems.
But when I tried to run it, the yellow fireworks window show, but after a few seconds the programs crashes...
I'm using leopard 10.6.2 on a iMac.
Any suggestions please ?

The question at hand is simple indeed;
Is it possible to install Fireworks CS4 without other "hang-on" programs? Especially Bridge CS4?
See the problem is were running version cue cs3, and we simply cannot shift to cs4, cause VC CS4 is not recognised by bridge cs3. Hairy yes.
Some of us need ONLY fireworks cs4, cause its miles better than cs3, but it automatically installs bridge cs4. And this kind of sucks, cause
we cant use the cs3 version cue server after that.

Have you tried removing the unwanted version and then, possibly, installing/repairing to the old?
If you're uncomfortable editing your registry, then WinASO has a good registry cleaner: http://www.winaso.com/ (That's for Windows. Don't know how Macs do things.)
Other than that, I suggest you contact Adobe Support.

Problems Installing Fireworks CS4 - OS 10.5.6

Hi All,
Recently downloaded the Fireworks CS4 trial for my imac running 10.5.6.
Downloads fine, but hangs on the 'preparing to install' screen.
This is killing me, please help!!!

Sigh, I keep thinking I've found a solution, but no luck... First off, note this thread is specifically asking about a problem with Mac OS 10.5.6, so all Window solutions might be better found on a thread that's not supposed to be directed to a specific Mac problem. Second, I just wanted to state I'm having an identical issue, and I've tried every uninstall / cleanup script / reinstall method I could find on Adobe Support (many support pages referenced in these boards), and not one has worked. I'm so frustrated that Adobe locks down their software in such a complicated way that it results in so many PAID CUSTOMERS not being able to use the software they paid Adobe good money for, and also results in us losing countly hours attempting to fix the problem(s). And sadly, when I do searches to fix my problems, I find see tons of results for cracked versions of this software, and I can't help but wonder if I would have fewer issues running the cracked software than I paid so much for.
Can you tell I'm frustrated? Thanks for letting me vent. I've contacted Adobe support, if they are able to help me, I will post the solution here. And if they want to charge me for the support, boy will I be peeved!

Error 2 when installing Fireworks CS4 Trial?

Hey, I keep getting the Error: Error 2 when ever I try to install Fireworks CS4 Trial, downloaded from Adobe.
Installing: Adobe Fireworks CS4
Adobe Exstention Manager CS4
After its pretty much done, it say's finished but with Error's, hit view info, and I keep getting Error 2.
Tried dowloading the trial from other sites, and that still doesnt work.
All my Adobe products of CS3 have been uninstalled.

I've got to say - I owe it all to a guy called Justducky on macosx.com. Still, here's the story. After search around I found his post about a similar problem with Dreamweaver. He dug, and delved and worked on permissions etc but nothing worked.
Finally he got down to the solution:
Uninstall everything Adobe. I mean everything. AIR, flashplayers if you can. Everything. Delete .plist and .pref files that have adobe in the name (carefully).
Create a new account that has admin privileges (not convinced this was necessary but don't know Macs enough to confirm)
Safe Boot and log into the new account
Install Fireworks.
And there you go, it works. Simple eh? As an extra precaution when installing Fireworks I only did the bear minimum. I didn't install Air, Media Player, Bridge etc. I have done now and they work.

Fireworks CS4 Trial Will Not Install

I have just downloaded both the .exe and .7z file for the Fireworks CS4 trial. I downloaded the files using Firefox 3.5 on Windows XP. When I hit launch in Akamai, nothing happens. If I double click the .exe file in Windows Explorer, the command propmt opens and then quickly shuts and nothing else happens. I have 7-zip and Winzip and neither can extract the files from the .7z.
I'm not 100% certain I have administrator rights on this computer, but I routinely install and update software and it has never been a problem in the past.
Any help?

If you cannot extract the files, maybe the download did not went well, and file was only partially downloaded? Maybe you shoud try to download it again?
You also must have administrator rights to install software on your machine, no matter if you use XP or Vista/7.

After installing Safari andAdobe fireworks CS4 will not open

I recently purchased the new Mac OS X Snow Leopard and I cant get my Adobe Fireworks CS4 and Safari browser to open. I downloaded safari 5 today thinking that might help my browser but nothing. When I click the Safari icon, it shows it is running and then there but no actually page pulls up. Any ideas what is going on?

I have been working on this since I posted. The error messaged popped up several times during automatic updates the past couple of days. When I first had the opportunity to update, I selected both iTunes and Quicktime. I received a message iTunes was updated, but there was an error updating Quicktime. I cannot remember the exact message, but it basically said to install the update manually from within Quicktime. I did not do that until I figured out what was going on with iTunes. Anyway, I finally updated Quicktime manually, and after rebooting, I was able to open both Quicktime and iTunes. When I finish working tonight, I will reboot and hopefully, be able to open both again. As of now, iTunes is working. Thanks.

Here is a full technote when having problems with Fireworks on Windows XPPro,... see if there is something there that helps.
Also make sure that you also install the FWs updater:

If nothing helps, then the only thing you can do is contact Adobe Support to see if they can help you.

ERROR Install of Fireworks CS4 Trial

I tried to install a trial version of Fireworks CS4 but the installation won't continue after checking system profile it says:

but the solution seems not application to this trial installation of JUST the Fireworks CS4.

Can't install Fireworks CS4 on Snow leopard

I can't install Fireworks CS4 just donwloaded (bought long time ago) on my macbook with snow leopard.
Everytime i try i get this error message:

Have you tried restarting your computer and then initiating the installation? Beyond that you can try closing down the application manually utilizing the Activity Monitor. You can find it at Applications/Utilities/Activity Monitor.

How do I install filters in Fireworks CS4

I reinstalled Fireworks CS4 ages ago and haven't used it.
Today, I've gone back to it and noticed that my filters weren't available. I've been hunting high and low to find out how to do it again.
I tried to select them through Preferences>Photoshop tick and dragging them into AdobeFireworks CS4>Plug-Ins folder but that doesn't work on restart.
I can add extensions through the extension manager but that's not the same thing.
I have also been looking for new filters and how to get mine to work. The Flaming Pear filters site doesn't mention Fireworks CS4 directly but says photoshop 3.02 compatible programs. Is Fireworks CS4 Photoshop 3.02 compatible? I can't seem to find out.
What file format acts as a filters which FW CS4 recognises, where do I put the files, and where can I get new filters? I'm looking for psychedeliccolour and twisting-type effects.
I love FW, having used it for years, and would rather not have to shift to Photoshop.
