Fireworks CS4 keeps resetting

Hello,
I had this issue with Fireworks CS3 too. Every few days - it
re-sets itself. The application frame gets turned off (I prefer it
on). My 'snap to grid' and 'snap to smart guides' get re-ticked (I
like them unticked). How can I get it to stop re-setting?

This did start happening after a Windows update.. -sigh This is why I usually refrain from updating Windows as often as I can get away with >_<;;;;. I can check all these settings, but Im not sure I understand enough about Windows itself to mess with them? Is there any specific instructions on adjusting the preferences settings? Sorry, Im not very tech savvy when it comes to the innards of operating systems. <--is just an arter

Error 2 when installing Fireworks CS4 Trial?

Hey, I keep getting the Error: Error 2 when ever I try to install Fireworks CS4 Trial, downloaded from Adobe.
Installing: Adobe Fireworks CS4
Adobe Exstention Manager CS4
After its pretty much done, it say's finished but with Error's, hit view info, and I keep getting Error 2.
Tried dowloading the trial from other sites, and that still doesnt work.
All my Adobe products of CS3 have been uninstalled.

I've got to say - I owe it all to a guy called Justducky on macosx.com. Still, here's the story. After search around I found his post about a similar problem with Dreamweaver. He dug, and delved and worked on permissions etc but nothing worked.
Finally he got down to the solution:
Uninstall everything Adobe. I mean everything. AIR, flashplayers if you can. Everything. Delete .plist and .pref files that have adobe in the name (carefully).
Create a new account that has admin privileges (not convinced this was necessary but don't know Macs enough to confirm)
Safe Boot and log into the new account
Install Fireworks.
And there you go, it works. Simple eh? As an extra precaution when installing Fireworks I only did the bear minimum. I didn't install Air, Media Player, Bridge etc. I have done now and they work.

Fireworks CS4 - Unable to Launch

I am trying to virtualize Fireworks CS4 but keep running into the following error after running the compiled exe.
The application was unable to load a required component: LogSession.dll. Please contact the publisher of this application for more information.
Dreamweaver CS4 runs fine though. I have seen a couple of other threads relating to VMware Tools possibly causing an issue. I have tried the following without any success..
1. Build machine with VMware Tools.
2. Build machine without VMware Tools
3. Stopping FlexNet service before capture
4. Copying LogSession.dll into the 'System32' folder
All snapshots\packages are been carried out on the local disk and not on a network share.
I can't open a SR request with Novell, as we don't have a support contract with them.

Some people have had success with issues such as these by adding entries to the "Child Process Exception List", but I haven't done that much myself and will need to poke around a bit to get you some more information.

In terms of obtaining Fireworks CS4, it is part of the Adobe CS4 Web Premium pack. You could probably get a trial version of it, but finding it on the Adobe site is unlikely as they are on CS6 now.

Fireworks CS4 toolbars not loading properly

Downloaded Fireworks CS4, and after installing it noticed that some of the toolbars are "missing".
Well, not actually missing, but just transparent....I can see my desktop background through the workspace.
Is this a driver compatibility issue, or some setting that I need to check?
I have included a pic of what my workspace looks like.

you could also try:
resetting FWs preferences:
Close FWs
Browse to the Preference file location, as per your OS.
Windows [Drive]:\Documents and Settings\[UserName]\Application Data\Adobe\Fireworks CS#\English\
Mac [User]/Library/Preferences/Adobe Fireworks CS#/en/Fireworks Preferences
Delete the Fireworks CS# Preferences.txt file associated with your current FW version.
Restart FW and try again
(supplied by Heathrowe in another thread - the preferences file was the one I was searching for at the support docs but couldn't find :-)

Bridge preferences keep resetting. Please help!

This is SO frustrating! I just upgraded to CS4 and my Bridge preferences keep resetting back to factory defaults. I have reinstalled the entire CS4 and I have also restarted Bridge holding down the option key and still nothing. I have also repaired disk permissions upon suggestion from Adobe Support.
Does anyone have any tips on what to do?
Furthermore, also, in Camera Raw my settings don't take either. In previous versions of ACR all I had to do was click the option once and everything in ACR would come up the same in subsequent openings. For example...ACR pops up in a very small window, in CS3 you could click the "full screen" option and each time you opened ACR, it would open full screen. Now every time I open ACR, it opens small and I have to click the screen larger. Very tedious. Same with changing the colorspace under each image...previously I had set it to sRGB and it would stick, however, now with CS4 every time I change it, it reverts back to Adobe 1998. Ugh.
Can anyone help? I have been on the phone for hours with Adobe support and everyone seems to lead me on a wild goose chase with no results.

The easiest way I can think of is to use your original install disk for
OSX10.5 and choose the option to archive and install a new system.
The Archive and Install option makes a copy of your old library and creates
a fresh new one leaving all the other existing files intact.
However, to be sure first make a back up of all your important files from
your user account (including the Document, pictures, music movie etc
folders) if you not already have done so (something you should have... )
First of all use the Adobe uninstaller to uninstall you CS4 copy (it should
be in the utilities folder)
Then run the Archive and Install option from the install disk. You should
start up from this disk otherwise it won't work. When finished restart OSX
and use software update to get the latest version of OSX 10.5
Reinstall CS4 and try again.
Any ideas?

Error accured in Fireworks CS4

I am trying to open a photoshop cs4 psd file in fireworks cs4 with the option "Maintain layer editability over appearance" keep on getting "could not complete your request an error occurred". Other psd files open, but I have had other file opening problems with fireworks before, for instance upon opening a psd file fireworks closes. All the adobe programs are all from the same suite, why arn't they playing nicely together. Any help on this matter will be greatly appreciated.

Here are some of the numbers from this psd file
SIZE IS:          8.72 MB (9,151,044 bytes)
Width: 1024 pixels
Height: 912   pixels
Resolution 72
In the past when fireworks has crashed I have ended up painstakingly deleting certain layers one by one and then trying to open them in fireworks. Once Id find the culprit or culprits I would re make the images or text (Usually text in fact always, so far). Then open in fireworks successfully.   Its all a lot of work, but I tried just about everything else including fixes from a Google search that id find.

"An internal error occurred" Adobe Fireworks CS4 login problem

When loading up Adobe Fireworks CS4, I keep getting "An internal error occurred" message. I have looked before online for solutions and tried isolating potentially corrupt fonts that could be preventing the programme not loading as well as deleting the Prefs.xml file. However, these solutions don't seem to work.
Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Please let me know the following:
1. The exact version of Adobe Reader on your system. You can get the same by clicking on Help > About Adobe Reader.
    If its not Reader 10.1.3, please update to the latest version and see if it solves the problem.
2. Which antivirus software are you using. Can you try disabling the same and see if it solves the problem.
3. Are you using any 3rd party plug-ins? If you are not sure, then please delete all files and folder present at:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\plug_ins
    Now try and repair the installation from the Control Panel > Programs and Features.

Fireworks CS4 Working VERY SLOW after 20 minutes of work on it.

I seem to have a slight problem with Adobe Fireworks CS4
speed. The program runs smooth until I use the program for about 30
- 40 minutes. Usually I have around 5 - 8 windows opened. I am a
NORMAL user, I use it for making simple graphics, web banners and
graphics alike. I don't know why it's running SO SLOW, it just
get's LAGGY, very LAGGY, then I have to reset the process. I just
save my stuff and rerun fireworks.
My Laptop's specs:
Asus Mv70vm
Windows Vista 32bit
4 GB Ram
Core 2 Duo T-9400
Only windows processes and anti virus is running.. (Computer
is completely clean from malware.)
Any help would be deeply appreciated!

From what I've read, I've come to the conclusion it's a bug in Fireworks. I'll have to post my comps specs when I'm back at work but it's a ridiculous 8 core machine with a crapload of ram. I've just figured that every hour or so I have to exit the app and restart it. What happens is that it just stops displaying anything and pops a 'Not enough memory" message on every mouse-click.
I love the app, just started using it about 6 months ago, but it's really not quite on par with the bulk of the CS4 suite.
Kind of strikes me as the toy Adobe bought and tinkers with every once in awhile.
I hope they improve it because I'm loving the potential...

Flash CS4 keeps crashing

Hello All,
I am a new Flash user - so please forgive me if i sound like
a total newbee because I am. Anyhow - I am trying to put flash on
my website. I have created .mov files using Final Cut Express 4. I
would then convert the .mov file to a FLV4 file using Adobe Media
Encoder CS4. Then When I try to create a SWF file using Adobe Flash
CS4 - the system crashes and closes down before it loads up
completely . When I am using smaller files it works fine - but the
movie i am trying to load up into flash is about 19 minutes long
and it won't let me load it up before it crashes. By the way - I am
using MAC
I have a few questions - is the movie just too long, or is it
just a bug?
What is the best way (or what software should I use) to
create flash movies for a website (keeping in mind I want the flash
to look as good as possible)
Generally the movies will be about 10 min in length but could
also get up to 20 minutes as well.

I Agree, since Adobe acquired Macromedia, who were far far
better at creating the software, and would actually bother making
the effort to test stuff before shipping it out the door!!, Still
using Dreamweaver 8 Works like a dream lol!! Far better than cs1,
2, 3 or 4.
Recently bought a copy of fireworks CS4, the bloody thing
keeps crashing and now it has decided that it will ask me to accept
the license aggreement when I load it up and then just crash!!
thats it.. back to fireworks for the moment!!!!! Stupid bloody

Problems Installing Fireworks CS4 - OS 10.5.6

Hi All,
Recently downloaded the Fireworks CS4 trial for my imac running 10.5.6.
Downloads fine, but hangs on the 'preparing to install' screen.
This is killing me, please help!!!

Sigh, I keep thinking I've found a solution, but no luck... First off, note this thread is specifically asking about a problem with Mac OS 10.5.6, so all Window solutions might be better found on a thread that's not supposed to be directed to a specific Mac problem. Second, I just wanted to state I'm having an identical issue, and I've tried every uninstall / cleanup script / reinstall method I could find on Adobe Support (many support pages referenced in these boards), and not one has worked. I'm so frustrated that Adobe locks down their software in such a complicated way that it results in so many PAID CUSTOMERS not being able to use the software they paid Adobe good money for, and also results in us losing countly hours attempting to fix the problem(s). And sadly, when I do searches to fix my problems, I find see tons of results for cracked versions of this software, and I can't help but wonder if I would have fewer issues running the cracked software than I paid so much for.
Can you tell I'm frustrated? Thanks for letting me vent. I've contacted Adobe support, if they are able to help me, I will post the solution here. And if they want to charge me for the support, boy will I be peeved!

10.5.6 broe Fireworks CS4

Hi.
I've updated to 10.5.6 and now Adobe Fireworks CS4 doesn't work anymore! Splash screen disappears, and then the report window pops up. I tried to reinstall the enitre CS4 suite, and reset the software configurations. Nothing to do.

It is possibly that the problem can be caused by the system or the user's files. A very fast way to decide which is causing the problem is to create a new user. From that new user attempt to run the application. If it works then the problem is in the old user's account for not it is in the system. At least it gives you a hint as to where the problem is.

My Illustrator CS4 keeps shutting down everytime

Helo my Illustrator CS4 keeps shutting down everytime I tried to click on the "OPEN" icon on the startup screen which ask what you want to do.
please provide me with a solution, I recently re-installed the entire CS4 suite on my windows 7 for a second time. The first installation most of the applications had just dissappeared.

I did the cleared the entire folder as shown below and still get the same problem...it is terminating when I create a new file and tried to save it

With nothing selected, click the Preferences button on the Control panel.
To switch to a different preference set, do one of the following:
Select an option from the menu at the upper-left of the Preferences dialog box.
Click Next to display the next options, or click Prev to display the previous options.
Reset all preferences to default settings
Resetting preferences can be helpful if you are having problems with the application.
Do one of the following:
Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) as you start Illustrator. Your current settings are deleted.
Remove or rename the AIPrefs file (Windows) or Adobe Illustrator Prefs file (Mac OS). New preferences files are created the next time you start Illustrator.
Note: It is safe to remove the entire Adobe Illustrator CS4 Settings folder. This folder contains various preferences that can be regenerated.

Why does my text look jagged in Fireworks CS4?

I have had it up to here with fireworks CS4. I can't figure out why my text looks like my dog chewed on it. If Fireworks CS4 has the same text engine as Illustrator than why does my Text in Illustrator look crisp but my text in fireworks looks jagged. I tried using anti-lising but that didn't help. I know there's been a lot of text issues with Fireworks CS4 but I thought the bugs were all fixed by now. Check out the attatchments to see what I'm talking about.

I posted a similar discussion a few months ago and while many were very helpful with their suggestions I have all but given up with using text in Fireworks.
It just isn't worth the bother when other applications can do text with no fuss and no messing with sizes and resolutions. I tend to use illustrator or dare I say it, Paintshop Pro which produces text easily and clearly within a text box or over an image
I'm keeping an eye on your discussion to see if there are any new words of wisdom. Here's hoping.

Fireworks CS4 Crashes

I just installed Fireworks CS4, and when I attempt to click on a layer for an image, this error message pops up twice:
An internal error has occurred.
An internal error has occurred.
It says the same thing twice, it continues on a loop when I keep clicking the ok button, and I have to go into Task Manager to stop the program. I just uninstalled and re-installed the program to no avail, so I am at a loss. Has anyone else had this happen? Why could this be happening?
Any help would be appreciated.

This fix has helped others in the past - see if it works for you: (in addition to installing the updater).
Restore default preferences
Quit Fireworks.
Locate the Fireworks Preferences file on your hard disk and delete it. The exact location of this file varies from system to system.
In Windows, preferences are in your user-specific Fireworks configuration folder.
Windows [Drive]:\Documents and Settings\[UserName]\Application Data\Adobe\Fireworks CS#\English\
In Mac OS, preferences are in the Library/Preferences folder in your user folder. For information about locating your Mac OS user folder, see Apple Help.
Mac [User]/Library/Preferences/Adobe Fireworks CS#/en/Fireworks Preferences
Note: On Mac OS, most Fireworks user-specific configuration files are stored in your user-specific Application Support folder.
The Fireworks CS4 Preferences file is an exception.
Restart Fireworks.The next time Fireworks is launched, a new preferences file will be created that restores Fireworks to its original configuration.
