Fireworks CS4 Rounded Corner properties missing

Until recently, I am pretty sure that I could change "roundness" of a Rounded Rectangle object in the standard properties panel. But for last few weeks that option is no longer available. See screen shot below.
In the Fireworks user guide, it suggests that: In the Property inspector, choose percentage or pixels from the pop-up menu to the right of the Roundness box. Set the percentage using the slider or enter a value from 0 to 100 in the box. But this slider no longer appears, or has some update to FW CS4 moved where this is located now as I'm sure it used to be in the same panel as size, colour, etc.

Fireworks CS4 toolbars not loading properly

Hi
Downloaded Fireworks CS4, and after installing it noticed that some of the toolbars are "missing".
Well, not actually missing, but just transparent....I can see my desktop background through the workspace.
Is this a driver compatibility issue, or some setting that I need to check?
I have included a pic of what my workspace looks like.

resetting FWs preferences:
Close FWs
Browse to the Preference file location, as per your OS.
Windows [Drive]:\Documents and Settings\[UserName]\Application Data\Adobe\Fireworks CS#\English\
Mac [User]/Library/Preferences/Adobe Fireworks CS#/en/Fireworks Preferences
Delete the Fireworks CS# Preferences.txt file associated with your current FW version.
Restart FW and try again
(supplied by Heathrowe in another thread - the preferences file was the one I was searching for at the support docs but couldn't find :-)

the rounded corners appear inside the div as if theres some sort of top and bottom padding. If i remove p tags the rounded corner box works...but then there are paragraph tags for my text. am I missing something here? Thanks.
also i should add that I have removed padding from p but still rounded corners appear inside div with background appearing above and below.

Try moving the divs for the rounded corners outside your product div.
An alternative solution would be to use the propriety browser rounded corners for FF and Safari and the jQuery rounded corners for IE.

InDesign CS4 treats corner effects differently than in CS3

Hello,
I need to fix 4000 inline graphic boxes because InDesign CS4 treats corner effects diiferently than in CS3.

Because the designers used this trick, I need to fix all the inline graphic boxes in CS4 for a reprint. I'm sure many more designers are going to open their old documents and find the same thing. All my inline graphic frames are suppose to just have one corner that is rounded. Short of selecting every frame individually and converting it to a rectangle, then running the Corner Effect Script on each one, I was wondering if Adobe planned on fixing this issue in a future release.

Hi Bob,
A script or Find/Change will work fine for one small book, but in checking with some other editorial departments, we have the potential for tens of thousands of pages we will have to adjust, and since these boxes appear every few pages (and most of these pages are seperate documents), you can imagine the impact on production time and cost. We really need something that is a more formal fix.
Going back to CS3 is currently not an option here at McGraw-Hill, as we have just finished the upgrade process for hundreds of users.

Fireworks CS4 doesn't install with Windows 7 RTM

I have installed Adobe Master Suite into Windows 7 RTM without any problems.. but I have attempted many times to install Fireworks CS4 but it stalls while doing the initial system check at 90% done. I have set the 'setup' file to Vista compatibility with administrative mode... still stalls... Does anyone know if it's something with a real incompatiblity with Window 7 or something that I'm not doing (or missing)...
Any help would sure be appreciated. (the client is getting pretty cranky now.... )

You say "Someone got it to install: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/451119?tstart=90 ".. I mentioned that the problem is with CS4 not with CS3... also the operatiing system stated here is the RTM ("Release To Market") and not the Beta..
I have downloaded all of the trial applications from Adobe and all installed perfectly with the exception of Firefox. This leads me to the assumption that the problem is with the application and not the operating system.
Back to the original post... has anyone managed to install Firefox CS4 using Windows 7 RTM or later ???

Fireworks CS4 as Wireframe Tool

In the past I have used OmniGraffle for creating wireframes but soon realized some of its limitation. I work extensively with Photoshop and Dreamweaver CS4 so I thought it was only appropriate to use a tool from the same family for creating wireframes.
Fireworks CS4 is missing (or I'm not finding) a few key features that I really need.
Bulleted Lists - I need the ability to input bulleted lists. I could cheat and create graphics for the bullets but this isn't what I want. If I modify the bulleted item's text, the images won't align if the text shrinks or expands in height.
Tables - I don't mean tables for page layout. I need the ability to input a table to hold data. As an example, I am creating a wireframe for a local college that is displaying course information. Information such as Course Name, Course Number, and Credits need to be included. Laying this data in a table with the headers mentioned above is what I'm searching to do.
If anyone know how to go about doing the above, please let me know. Under a tight deadline on this one.

Fireworks CS4 to CS6 - is there a setting that needs to be adjusted so that web pages look right in Internet Explorer? I was in the middle of creating pages with Fireworks CS4 and exporting them to Dreamweaver CS4 and publishing them to the website. Those pages looked fine. Then I upgraded to CS6 and the pages look fine in Fireworks, Dreamweaver and when I preview them "live" in Chrome but not Internet Explorer. Anyone know why? Also, with upgrading the software I upgraded to a new computer. Any and all suggestions are welcomed. Thanks!

Most likely caused by a missing document type declaration (DTD). Truth is, the HTML code generated by graphics apps is not web worthy. It's really only intended for quick mock-ups to show a client before you rebuild everything with CSS & HTML code in Dreamweaver.

Fireworks cs4 save as psd problems

Hi all, 1st post on here.
Anyway, I use fireworks for all my design comps, it does just what i want.
However, i have been doing some design only work reasently and the work is always requested as a psd!
I dont really understand photoshop to be honest, so dont want to design in it. I have tried 'save as psd' from fireworks cs4 but the results are unusual!
Gradients dont appear unless flattened, and the strokes on some paths are missing as well. There are probably more errors that i have yet to spot.
Am i doing something daft here?

Fireworks CS4 should save as .psd (Photoshop CS4 version). I see the problem with gradients, though... (Hopefully, next version of Fireworks -- CS5 -- will address some of these problems, when saving as PSD.)
Fireworks is not perfect when saving PSD. PSD is native Photoshop format, so this is the reason why Fireworks cannot save so well in it.
If you do serious design work and they request from you .psd, I suppose, Photoshop will do much better job for you... Yes, it is much more difficult than Fireworks, it is not so intuitive, but that's the best I can think of...
I work as a Web designer for many years, and I always used Fireworks in my work. However, if I receive a design as .psd, Fireworks can open it very well. And I never needed to produce designs in .psd, I make my own design often, or I simply code other designer's PSD files, as CSS/XHTML...
Unfortunately, I can't help you much in this... Maybe some other Fw guru will be able to do better!

Creating standards-compliant web designs with Fireworks CS4 Problems

i have some problems with using background image slices.
here is it(from the DevNet arcticle creating standards
compliant web designs with fireworks cs4):
With this feature, seeing really is believing, so let's get
straight to it:
1. Create a new 500 × 500 document.
2. Draw a 200 × 40 rectangle.
3. Set the background color as #000099.
4. Set its fill to be a Linear gradient.
5. Change the first Gradient node's color to #9999FF.
6. Select Edit > Insert > Rectangular Slice.

* Name: bg_rect
* Width: 1px
* Type: Background Image

i followed these steps exactly but i get no tiled background
only the 200 x 40 rectangle.can anyone tell me what's wrong ?

I followed these steps exactly and also viewed the HTML/CSS
exported in Firefox 3.0.5, and the rectangle appeared with the
correctly tiled gradient background. (I'm on a Win XP SP3 machine.)
I tried changing the canvas color to transparent, moving the
rectangle and slice around, changing the width of the slice, and
even changing the horizontal and vertical positioning of the
background image, and the export was still correct. Is it possible
your background image slice is not placed over the gradient? Have
you looked at the CSS exported to confirm that "bg_rect.gif" is
listed as the background image for the DIV and that the .GIF file
is being exported and is a narrow gradient image? Are all of the
export options correct? (There's only a few export options for CSS
and images (.htm), so I doubt this is your problem...)
At risk of asking the obvious, are you using Fireworks CS4
with the updated CSS/HTML extension from the article installed?
HTML/CSS export works differently between CS3 and CS4 - John
Wylie's extension was created for CS3, and Matt Stow updated it for
CS4.

Fireworks CS4 Slide Show in IE ??

I created a slide show using Fireworks CS4 and the non-Flash
option. Works just fine in IE7, Firefox and Safari out of
Dreamweaver.
After uploading to the web, it works just fine in Firefox,
Opera and Safari, but the slide show doesn't function in IE7.
I uploaded the bare html exported by Fireworks, but that
didn't work in IE7 either (OK in Firefox, Opera and Safari).

Is this a Spry/Fireworks CS4 bug, or am I missing something?
CS4 Master Collection Win XP SP3

I have now tried uploading a test page to an alternate host,
from where IE plays the Fireworks slide show just fine.
So there is something about the ISP/host server (I guess)
that is interfering with the operation of the Spry modules used by
the slideshow. Spry drop-down menus work just fine throughout.
Can anyone give a hint about what is going on here?

How can I make only one (or 2) round corner on a square using the round corner effect?

You don't say what version you're using, but I know that in CS3 (and probably CS4), there is a script installed that you can use.
Draw your frame. Open the Scripts panel. Open the subfolders "Application", then "Samples", then "Javascript". With your Frame selected, double-click the script in the list named "CornerEffects.jsx". You'll be presented with a list of options to control what type of corner; and at the bottom the pop-up menu controls which corners get that type of corner.
(Names may vary somewhat for CS4.)

Well, you had a Gradient Mesh in Illustrator.
This gives trouble to Fireworks, as it can't render it properly. The trick is to first convert the Gradient Mesh in Illustrator to some sort of a bitmap (yes, I know, vectors are lost, but...) then re-save file and open in Fireworks and you're done!
I think I converted the Gradient Mesh obect to a Clipping Mask but I suppose you can convert to something else. The point is to not have a gradient mesh, but a bitmap object...

Adobe Fireworks CS4 freez on create album

Hi,
I'm trying to use Adobe Fireworks CS4 with all the latest update on a Macbook Pro computer with OSX 10.5.8.
Everything works fine, except for the following.
I use commands - create slideshow.
Then I create an album and add pictures.
When I issue the command create, everything works fine.
But ....
From the moment that I choose to rotate a picture, the create process freezes when it reaches that specific picture and I can only cancel this.
Is there anyone who can tell me a solution or workaround?
Next to that, I also have an issue with multiple albums. When I use multiple albums and use the album properties to add a description and a thumbnail to a specific album, I always see that this is removed as soon as I click another album.
It would be very helpfull if anyone knows a solution to both these problems.

What I would do, instead of exporting code from Fireworks, is export images only, and add the code in Dreamweaver. If you must do iy from Fireworks, remember to put each element in a seperate slice. It would be easier to advise you if you could upload a copy of your file.

No need for hotspots unless you are creating an image map. Any coding, behaviors, etc will be exported with the HTML attached to the slices.

Fireworks cs4 - animated gif

ok.
Haven't had to do this since cs3.
I have my images collected for each frame of the animation in Fireworks CS4 on separate layers.
I am under the impressions that "States" has replace "Frames".
I create a new state and make layer one visible.
I duplicate the state and make layer two visible.
When I go back to state one layer two is visible instead of just layer one.
It looks like layer visibility is changing across all states.
What's the trick?

I'm wondering if you can explain in a bit more detail how to actually place graphics on states as opposed to layers.
If I select the contents of a layer and copy them, then go to the states panel, select the specific state i want the content on, and paste... it doesn't seem to do anything but create a new layer in my layers panel. If I turn off layers from one state to the next, it turns them off for all states.
I made many layers in Photoshop, expecting to be able to open the file in Fireworks, make states, and just turn on and off layers to create my animation. This worked with earlier versions of Fireworks (back when GIF banners were the standard format for online ads... I know, I'm a dinosaur).
I've been trying to get this to work for hours, and finding this very unintuitive and frustrating.
