Fireworks CS4 - Unable to Launch

I am trying to virtualize Fireworks CS4 but keep running into the following error after running the compiled exe.
The application was unable to load a required component: LogSession.dll. Please contact the publisher of this application for more information.
Dreamweaver CS4 runs fine though. I have seen a couple of other threads relating to VMware Tools possibly causing an issue. I have tried the following without any success..
1. Build machine with VMware Tools.
2. Build machine without VMware Tools
3. Stopping FlexNet service before capture
4. Copying LogSession.dll into the 'System32' folder
All snapshots\packages are been carried out on the local disk and not on a network share.
I can't open a SR request with Novell, as we don't have a support contract with them.

Some people have had success with issues such as these by adding entries to the "Child Process Exception List", but I haven't done that much myself and will need to poke around a bit to get you some more information.
Is Fireworks CS4 something I can get on my own to work with?
Will give that a go.
In terms of obtaining Fireworks CS4, it is part of the Adobe CS4 Web Premium pack. You could probably get a trial version of it, but finding it on the Adobe site is unlikely as they are on CS6 now.

  • Fireworks CS4 Won't Launch in Mac OS 10.6.7

    Hello,
I have had CS4 for 2 years almost and recently Fireworks won't open. When I click on the icon, I get this error message (below). I have updated by my Mac OS and Adobe updates with no success. I thought about uninstalling and reinstalling Fireworks, but it says I would need to deactivate my serial number from within Fireworks. Since I can't open Fireworks, I can't deactivate it - so presumably I wouldn't be able to reinstall it.
All my other Adobe products are working fine - it's just this one.
Any suggestions? I'm not a graphic designer, so if you're able to assist, pretend you're explaining to an 8 year-old! :-)
    Thank you kindly.

  • Flash CS4 unable to launch

hi... I've installed flash CS4 without any problem. When I
try to enter it, the program does'nt launch. I have an Acer Aspire
    with Windows Vista.
Thank you. Sorry for my english.

I am having the same problem. All my apps in CS4 Desing Premium install and work just fine. Only Flash CS4 is giving me headaches. Hours on the phone with Adombe tech support have failed to resolve the issue. Last left at "reinstall Vista 64 and reinstall CS4 Design Premium." Doing so requires 2 to 2.5 days for the installations and upgrades, and, there's no guarantee it will work.
Does anyone have a solution? Adobe? Class?

  • Fonts and Fireworks CS4 (Mac)

I discovered that certain fonts WILL cause Fireworks CS4 to not launch on a Mac.
I have a font library of approximately 5000 fonts and font sets.
I run the same library on both PC and Mac.
The PC Fireworks doesn't have a problem, but the Mac Fireworks would crash on launch and say it encountered an error. (Nothing more specific).
I started using Suitcase Fusion to manage my font library and by removing the 500 from the system fonts, Fireworks CS4 now opens and runs without any problems.
It also runs a lot faster only having to load the system fonts.
I was so impressed with Suitcase Fusion on the Mac that I got it for the PC as well and sped up all of my CS4 apps.

Funny thing is... I have a two month old MacBook Pro and except for the first day I had it, it's always had Snow Leopard. The crash was definitely font related, because I did a complete OS reload when I upgraded to a 500Gb hard drive, and that's when I started using Suitcase Fusion to manage my separate library of fonts. That's when Fireworks started working.

  • Unable to redownload Fireworks CS4

I am registered for Fireworks CS4 which is listed in my products, but it is not listed in my order history although it was purchase from the store, so I am unable to redownload it.

You can download the trial version of the software using the link below and then use your current serial number to activate it.
Be sure to follow the steps outlined in the Note: Very Important Instructions section on the download pages at this site.

  • Fireworks CS5 Error on launch

OSX 10.6.3. Master collection trial download. Fixed permissions recursively on ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe which fixed Dreamweaver and Flash problems. Fireworks wont work though. On launching the problem a dialog comes up (no startup screen) stating "Fireworks can not run. A parameter was incorrect." Any insights on this?

    Sarthak,
If you read through the past messages you can see that the problem is that I
am unable to associate images with either Fireworks CS4 or CS5. CS5
sometimes hangs on launch in Vista. We have tried generating a new admin
user account, uninstalling FW8, reinstalling, and browsing directly to the
fireworks.exe file. Your support person has remote viewed and recorded all
    the failed functions.
Again, I am able to launch either version from the shortcut icon, but it
still does not work in my normal workflow, which is to click images in email
attachments and assemble gif animations for use in web sites. What happens
is that the image opens in a Windows viewer. Copy and paste from there into
Fw does not function so I must then save the image to the desktop, launch
Fireworks and browse to the desktop location. Dragging the image into
Firefox is not always reliable. Once inside Fireworks, I must constantly
float image windows in order to assemble them into a gif animation. All in
all, Fireworks in the present form fails to fit into my normal web design
workflow. Macromedia knew much better how to write this program. It was
never intended to be another Illustrator or Photoshop.

  • Bug in fireworks CS4 when exporting 24/32bit png with transparent alpha?

    Hi there,
I recently upgraded to CS4 from CS3 and am quite disappointed to find that the png export facility for 24 or 32 bit png's is next to useless on my installation of Fireworks (Vista). I have a colleage who has reported the same behanviour on his mac.
Please see this native fireworks CS4 png file and attempt to export it as 24 or 34 bit png, ensuring the canvas is transparent (it shuold be already)...
    http://www.capitalh.net/demo-bug.png
Viewing in preview mode in CS3 would show the png with its alpha channel indicated by the chequered transparent pattern. Exporting it as such would produce the desired result > a png with a nice blended alpha channel.
Viewing in preview mode in CS4 shows a horrible render of the image on a white background. Exporting the image produces the same result. Please see this link for confirmation:
    http://www.capitalh.net/demo-bug-export.png
Please also see this simpler image, this time using a simple ellipse shape:
    http://www.capitalh.net/demo-bug-export-simpleshape.png
You'll notice that it is not transparent, and the ellipse has not been anti-aliased.
Can anyone shed some light on this behaviour?
Exporting png's as such is something that I do daily at work, and is a basic requirement of an image editting application targetted at web design.
Am I doing something wrong? I've been using Fireworks since 2003 so I'm inclined to think that I'm not.

That's a bit, um, oh never mind. Would've been a rubbish joke anyway.
    Aww...pooh. I love "rubbish" jokes!
If fireworks is unable to export a transparent png at 24bit, then why have the option?
(granted the option is acutally implied, not given)
Also, why the horrible rendering on preview and export?
Transparency for 24-bit isn't an option and isn't implied. Create a FW document with a transparent canvas. Go to File>Image Preview. If you select PNG8 as your export option, then you have drop-downs for No Transparency, Index Transparency, or Alpha Transparency. PNG32 shows the checkerboard where the document is transparent. If you select PNG24, you do not have the transparency options. Transparent areas in your document are set to white, just as they are if you select the JPEG format. Try it.
I don't know why your rendering is horrible. I'd have to see your image.
And also, why all this confusion related to Photoshop, seems Adobe really aren't helping the issue:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/152434
Possibly Adobe thought it was less confusing, as they didn't have to go into the math. However, you do see Linda Rathgeber's answer, that the Photoshop convention is...well...misleading? (I'd call it wrong, but that's just me. ) It's just one other issue to bring into alignment as Adobe works to merge the Macromedia offerings into their line.

  • Fireworks CS4 Trial Will Not Install

I have just downloaded both the .exe and .7z file for the Fireworks CS4 trial. I downloaded the files using Firefox 3.5 on Windows XP. When I hit launch in Akamai, nothing happens. If I double click the .exe file in Windows Explorer, the command propmt opens and then quickly shuts and nothing else happens. I have 7-zip and Winzip and neither can extract the files from the .7z.
I'm not 100% certain I have administrator rights on this computer, but I routinely install and update software and it has never been a problem in the past.
    Any help?

If you cannot extract the files, maybe the download did not went well, and file was only partially downloaded? Maybe you shoud try to download it again?
You also must have administrator rights to install software on your machine, no matter if you use XP or Vista/7.

  • Snow Leopard 10.6.2 recommended for Adobe Fireworks CS4

The release of update version for Snow leopard by Apple is expected to fix some random crashes which have been encountered while working with Adobe Fireworks CS4.
Once the Snow Leopard machine has been updated, the version should read 10.6.2
Please go ahead and update your boxes to this update.

My experience is that there are certain .ttf fonts that are great in Windows but not at all compatible with Mac, and they can cause issues with software that uses fonts.
    Case in point:
I have two PCs and a MacBook. I have virtually Identical software suites on them all (Office, CS4, PSElements, Full sets of browsers). I also have a font library of around 5,000 fonts.
Until last month, I just ran them all from the system fonts folder.  On the PCs, this lead to slooooooooooooowwwwwwwww running in all of CS4 and Word in Office especially when I had to change a font.
On the Mac, it kept Fireworks from launching altogether. It would just crash at the splash screen.
Since I work from Time Machine and ghost backups, reformatting a hard drive and reloading everything is just an afternoon for me. I reloaded all three systems, this time with Suitcase Fusion to manage my fonts. It comes with FontDoctor to ID any bad fonts before setting up a library from the full set.
On the PCs it ID'd about 35 bad fonts and I chose to eliminate them. On the Mac, it ID'd about 135. Again, I did away with them.
End result: Office 2007 and the 2010 Beta are lightning fast now by comparison, and on the Mac, Fireworks is fully functional.
Since the only thing I changed, was the fonts (removing bad ones from each system and using a manager to activate them) I can safely say that fonts will have an impact on your software.
If FontBook ID'd them as bad, dump them. They'll likely cause more trouble than they're worth if you don't.

  • Fireworks CS4 internal error when export to PDF

Trying to export a PDF from a layout gets an internal error
message with Fireworks CS4. The layout involves a master page plus
5 pages with a few PSD images imported. To test to see if it was
something to do with the specific file, I tried another simple
single page png which initially exported but then started to fail
as well. Regular export to CSS, etc. seems to be fine. My OS is
    Vista Business.
I've tried googling for a solution but have only found topics
around certain fonts causing start up failures.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

  • Unable to Launch

    I've just upgraded from Studio 8 & CS2 to CS3 plus a
separate Fireworks license. Because of Issues I had when upgrading
from CS1 to CS2, I removed all of the old applications before
installing the new. Also, because of space issues on C: I selected
D:\Program Files as the installation location. The installation
went well and all of my configuration information appears valid.
However, when I try to edit an image from the file list, I
get an error message: "Unable to launch" plus the path to FW8
instead of CS3. I've changed the path to fireworks in File Types /
Editors in DW Preferences but I still get the same error.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated . Thanks!

    Found a
    post
reply from Al Sparber here from that helped:
If you are using Windows, you need to open the Preferences
    window in
Dreamweaver and switch to the File Types/Editors category.
Remove all of the Editors for images file types
    Reboot your entire system
    Open DW
Set each image file type Editor in the Preferences window to
    use
Fireworks by browsing to the Fireworks .exe in your Programs
    Files
    folder
    Restart Dreamweaver
You should be good to go.

  • Fireworks CS4, Dreamweaver CS3

Does anyone know if Fireworks CS4 would work with Dreamweaver

I use DWCS4 and FWsCS3 and haven't had any problems.
I do have the latest version of FWs, however, find it a real
resource hog and found that I had to
restart this version more times during the day than I ever
did with FWs CS3. So now I use the older
    version rather than the latest.
I can run FWs CS3 for 2+ days straight without having any
"low memory" errors, but the latest
version will stop responding after a few hours. Apparently
Adobe is looking into this, but when a
fix will be found is unknown.
I don't believe you'll have any problems combining versions.

The lastest DW is better than the last, as most new releases
are, but it's really up to you whether
you see the value in updating. Have a look at the Adobe site
and check out the new features and
then decide whether the upgrade is worth it for you :-)

  • Fireworks CS4: could not open the file. Unknown file type

Hello, this is the second file created with Fireworks CS4 that can't be opened. I'm using the same Fireworks installation that created the file. The file is a 1.2 MB file containing the pages of a draft for a new website.
When I click on the file in Windows Explorer to open it, Fireworks tries to open it, but it can't. Instead, an alert pops up with this message: "Adobe Fireworks CS4 Could not open the file. Unknown file type"
Working with Windows Vista Business, Adobe Web Premium CS4 suite
I already tried opening the file, to no avail, with:
-another computer with Windows XP Pro SP3 and the same Fireworks version
-another computer with Windows XP Pro SP3 and Fireworks CS3
-another computer with Windows XP Pro SP3 and Fireworks MX 2004
    Please help.

I tried to find a solution for you by using:
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/search/index.cfm?loc=en_us&term=error%20opening%20file&cat=su pport&product=fireworks
but I couldn't find anything.  You may want to give it a go  :-)
Can you open the file in another program, maybe an earlier version of FWs, or Photoshop or even Illustrator if you have it?
Not sure if there's a configuration folder that needs to be renamed and when FWs restarts it re-writes the config file... that's something to has to be done with DW when 'funny stuff' happens.
    That's the best advice I have, I'm sorry  :-(
