I just got CS4 and the only problem I'm running into so far is that FW CS4
won't quit.
Anyone have any ideas:

Fireworks CS4 Won't Launch in Mac OS 10.6.7

Hello,
I have had CS4 for 2 years almost and recently Fireworks won't open. When I click on the icon, I get this error message (below). I have updated by my Mac OS and Adobe updates with no success. I thought about uninstalling and reinstalling Fireworks, but it says I would need to deactivate my serial number from within Fireworks. Since I can't open Fireworks, I can't deactivate it - so presumably I wouldn't be able to reinstall it.
All my other Adobe products are working fine - it's just this one.
Any suggestions? I'm not a graphic designer, so if you're able to assist, pretend you're explaining to an 8 year-old! :-)

CS4 Won't Quit. Solutions?

At the end of my day, I have the hardest time quitting Illustrator and Photoshop CS4. Typically, these applications will behave as if they are quitting but when I look at the menu bar at the bottom (Mac OS 10.5.8) they appear "on". Force Quitting doesn't seem to have any effect either. After a few minutes, I get a report window to fill out from Adobe which I have done several times. I now resort to shutting the machine off with these programs appearing on — which I don't like to do.
Any solutions? Is this a software problem or an OS problem?
The equipment that I am using: iMac 2GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo | 4GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
FYI - I have browsed through the forums here and see that others have the same problem, and seeing long strings of discussions and arguments about the "not quitting" issue. Hint: I want a quick and easy to read solution here

Since you are using 10.5.x, try downloading Applejack. Have it fix your disk directory and empty all of your user and system caches. See if that does the trick.

Help Please Fireworks cs4 won't open - user privelages error

Installed Adobe creative suite cs4 design premium on my laptop running windows vista. I am able to open all programs but Fireworks. When launching, I recieve a message; Your user privileges do not allow Fireworks to update your registry. Launch and Edit with Dreamweaver will not work properly until Fireworks is launched while using Administrative privileges.
Fireworks does not open at all. I have tried contacting tech support direct through Adobe 3 times. I have been put on hold time after time for over an hour per call. And have yet to speak with Tech Support. Soooooo fed up!!!!! Can someone please please help me.

Fireworks CS4 won't let me create a slideshow

Hi,
I searched through dozens of posts in the forums but no one gives an actual answer to this question, they just point to tutorials that don't answer the question I have. The problem is when I try to input an export path into the slideshow options nothing gets chosen. It just remains blank. I have made new folders, I have chosen already made folders and I have chosen the desktop, but nothing will get chosen. Can someone please point me to the real answer to this? I have been searching for an hour and my work depends on this slideshow to work.

I had a similar experience after following a video tutorial I found online, but then found another
tut which mentioned you must Create a New Document before selecting Commands/Create Slideshow.
That worked for me!

Same here. I have never ever been able to quit FW CS4 the
regular way since the very sad day I installed it.
Furthermore, I experience crashes whenever I rearrange my
menue floaters (I already tried deleting my user prefs).
To crown this, today I closed my "document library" panel by

Fireworks CS4 PC version won't recognize my .ase file.

I can download my kuler swatches as an .ase file without problems. But when I go to Fireworks, I can't load the file into the Swatches palette. I tried "Add swatches" and "Replace swatches" in Fireworks, but Fireworks will only allow me to look for an .act or .gif file and doesn't see my .ase file.
Fireworks CS4 doesn't have a "Load swatches" option, nor does it have a color library function like Illustrator. I'm stuck! How do I get my .ase swatches into Fireworks CS4, PC version?

I'm figuring this out. Does your saved theme in the online Kuler need to be marked as Public? Can it be saved as Private and still be found when I work with Kuler in Fireworks and Illustrator?

I have CS3 on my computer as well. I have had a love/hate relationship with Firewire and Dreamweaver going back for many years. I was hoping they would get better when Adobe bought them out, but I guess not.
They are both practically unusable on my old PowerPC, but acceptable on my Intel MacBook. Not great -- just acceptable.
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

My steam won't launch ever since I updated to Yosemite I don't know what is going on.

Thank you Linda, I thought I would post here since other users may have had a similar experience. My next step will be to reinstall the software since I'd rather not pay for their technical support if it's a simple fix - thus the posting here.

Error 2 when installing Fireworks CS4 Trial?

Hey, I keep getting the Error: Error 2 when ever I try to install Fireworks CS4 Trial, downloaded from Adobe.
Installing: Adobe Fireworks CS4
Adobe Exstention Manager CS4
After its pretty much done, it say's finished but with Error's, hit view info, and I keep getting Error 2.
Tried dowloading the trial from other sites, and that still doesnt work.
All my Adobe products of CS3 have been uninstalled.

I've got to say - I owe it all to a guy called Justducky on macosx.com. Still, here's the story. After search around I found his post about a similar problem with Dreamweaver. He dug, and delved and worked on permissions etc but nothing worked.
Finally he got down to the solution:
Uninstall everything Adobe. I mean everything. AIR, flashplayers if you can. Everything. Delete .plist and .pref files that have adobe in the name (carefully).
Create a new account that has admin privileges (not convinced this was necessary but don't know Macs enough to confirm)
Safe Boot and log into the new account
Install Fireworks.
And there you go, it works. Simple eh? As an extra precaution when installing Fireworks I only did the bear minimum. I didn't install Air, Media Player, Bridge etc. I have done now and they work.

Bug in fireworks CS4 when exporting 24/32bit png with transparent alpha?

Hi there,
I recently upgraded to CS4 from CS3 and am quite disappointed to find that the png export facility for 24 or 32 bit png's is next to useless on my installation of Fireworks (Vista). I have a colleage who has reported the same behanviour on his mac.
Please see this native fireworks CS4 png file and attempt to export it as 24 or 34 bit png, ensuring the canvas is transparent (it shuold be already)...

Viewing in preview mode in CS3 would show the png with its alpha channel indicated by the chequered transparent pattern. Exporting it as such would produce the desired result > a png with a nice blended alpha channel.
Viewing in preview mode in CS4 shows a horrible render of the image on a white background. Exporting the image produces the same result. Please see this link for confirmation:

You'll notice that it is not transparent, and the ellipse has not been anti-aliased.
Can anyone shed some light on this behaviour?
Exporting png's as such is something that I do daily at work, and is a basic requirement of an image editting application targetted at web design.
Am I doing something wrong? I've been using Fireworks since 2003 so I'm inclined to think that I'm not.

If fireworks is unable to export a transparent png at 24bit, then why have the option?
(granted the option is acutally implied, not given)
Also, why the horrible rendering on preview and export?
Transparency for 24-bit isn't an option and isn't implied. Create a FW document with a transparent canvas. Go to File>Image Preview. If you select PNG8 as your export option, then you have drop-downs for No Transparency, Index Transparency, or Alpha Transparency. PNG32 shows the checkerboard where the document is transparent. If you select PNG24, you do not have the transparency options. Transparent areas in your document are set to white, just as they are if you select the JPEG format. Try it.
I don't know why your rendering is horrible. I'd have to see your image.
And also, why all this confusion related to Photoshop, seems Adobe really aren't helping the issue:

Possibly Adobe thought it was less confusing, as they didn't have to go into the math. However, you do see Linda Rathgeber's answer, that the Photoshop convention is...well...misleading? (I'd call it wrong, but that's just me. ) It's just one other issue to bring into alignment as Adobe works to merge the Macromedia offerings into their line.

CS4 won't read Canon T1i raw files

CS4 won't read Canon T1i raw files. Is this a known problem? Is there an update or plugin that I need to download? If so, where can I find it? Thanks for your help.

T1i support was added in Camera Raw 5.4. It sounds like your Camera Raw may be out of date.
From within Photoshop, choose "Updates…" from the Help menu. It'll do its thing and eventually Adobe Updater should tell you updates are available. Run through that install process and you should be set to go.
Note that you will have to quit Photoshop during the installation process, so make sure all your work is saved.

PP CS4 won't relink offline media

Can anyone help me trouble shoot my Premiere Pro CS4? It would refuse to let me save anything, freeze and make me force quit it over and over, finally it told me to reinstall. So i did but now none of my previous timelines work, the media is all either offline or just not playing when i try to playback. When i try to relink the offline media it tells me the file dimensions are too big. What can i do? This is a big project which needs to be completed urgently and i don't want to have to start over losing weeks of work.
I'm using a macbook pro and an education version of the adobe masters collection.

I have found an autosave in which most of the media is still linked but not all of them and I am still being told that the file dimensions are too large to link, despite being from tapes i captured using premiere pro. While all clips are in the same place as where i edited them, the ones that appear to still be linked are blank and will not play.

Jeff covers two of the biggest reasons that Media is Offline, and why one might not be able to relink to the media. This ARTICLE goes into detail on a few other reasons. The biggest question, and also at least part of the solution, is "why is the media offline?" One of the main causes is that something changed in the Path to the media, which is absolute. Then, when PrPro cannot find that media, it asks "Where is file ____ ?" and the user chooses anything but the Finder to locate that media, then Saves the Project. All media with changed Paths will then show as Offline. However, manually relinking will correct that. In your case, you are failing in that relink operation, so Jeff's suggestions take on even greater importance. Still, by defining WHY the media is showing offline, might be useful in determining how to relink. Good luck, Hunt

ERROR Install of Fireworks CS4 Trial

Hi,
Im running Windows XP SP2.
I tried to install a trial version of Fireworks CS4 but the installation won't continue after checking system profile it says:
Critical errors were found in setup
Please see the setup log for details.
I open the error log and found this error:

but the solution seems not application to this trial installation of JUST the Fireworks CS4.
Hope somebody have found the solution to this issue.

If you cannot extract the files, maybe the download did not went well, and file was only partially downloaded? Maybe you shoud try to download it again?
You also must have administrator rights to install software on your machine, no matter if you use XP or Vista/7.
