Fireworks CS5 crashing over once an hour.
I have a new IMAC and creative suite. My FW seems to crash multiple times an hour. I uninstalled, cleaned up Adobe files and reinstalled. Still same issue.
Any other person have this issue and if so how did you solve it?

Fireworks CS5 crashes often due to buggy memory handling. Will there be a patch?
Fireworks CS5 has a major bug that causes a memory leak or memory "cap" where the application stops functioning once it has used approximately 1.5 GB of memory or so. (I read that 2GB was the cap, but I have never seen Fireworks make it to 2GB). I only have 10 undos set in Fireworks, so I know that's not the problem. I have searched high and low to resolve this, but it seems like Adobe just hasn't recognized this as a high priority.
I read other discussions about the same problem and I now believe that Adobe either doesn't read the forums or they don't care. I hope this is not the case because I truly love the product. But, for the record, I shouldn't have to:
- "Limit the number of undos to less than 100" (I have limited mine to 10, but after 6 months of trial and error I have found that to be irrelevant. The errors occur anyway). Don't encumber your users with such an archaic request. This is like a software bug from 1985.
- "Save, shut down, and restart Fireworks every hour or so". Are you kidding? I can't believe someone on the forums even suggested this. This isn't a solution to the Fireworks bug. This is a work around that does nothing to prevent the error from occuring. Sometimes the error occurs on the very first click after opening a file in Fireworks, after a full system restart. A 5MB file takes 3 minutes to open in Fireworks on my quad-core 3Ghz machine with 8GB of memory. I don't mind that, but I shouldn't have to do it every 30 to 60 minutes. Users shouldn't have to look for "workarounds" to keep a software application running without crashing, especially such an expensive application. I think Fireworks is worth every penny, but only if it runs without crashing.
Perhaps most importantly, I cannot - ever - open two 5MB files in Fireworks at one time. Which makes it extremely cumbersome to impossible to copy/paste content between two files. In fact, I am designing a web application in Fireworks, and I've had to split the app into approximately 15 different files because Fireworks can't handle files bigger than 6 or 7MB.
I had the same problem with CS4 on a different machine, so I know it's not a new issue. I have Fireworks installed on two PCs, both have quad core 3Ghz processors, one PC has 6GB of RAM, the other has 8GB. Once an hour I have to shut down what I'm working on and wait several minutes for Fireworks to reopen the file. Sometimes Fireworks just stops responding and won't let me save my work at all. And since there is no autosave in Fireworks, I probably lose work at least once a day.
Please, please, please address this... I love Fireworks, and I'd really like to keep using it.I am using Fireworks CS5 in Windows 7 to sketch a large site, and it was taking an extremely long time to do anything and seemed to crash on me once or twice every hour. I saved every couple of minutes and could at least rely on my last save being able to be reloaded. However, a few days ago, I lost a lot of work when Fireworks crashed halfway through the save and destroyed the file. At the time, my most recent backup copy that I had on another drive was a day old, so that crash was not only frustrating but hazardous to my project deadlines (needless to say, I've since implemented a more aggressive backup policy). Anyway, I searched for answers and forums about the problem, and I'm disappointed that it seems that it's a common problem for a lot of folks that has been around for a very long time throughout multiple releases of the software. Memory and resources also seem to be a common factor in contributing to the crashes and are also a theme in the few solution responses that I was able to find. I hope that Adobe will respond with a once-and-for-all fix / a much more efficient and stable way for Fireworks to do its magic. I typically have had very positive things to say about Adobe software and was even the one who recommended the suite for my work, but especially as "well seasoned" and *expensive* as the software is, there is no excuse for any major, well-tested component of it by now to be crashing so consistenly and causing so many problems for so many people.
The solution to the crashing that seems to work for me so far - and I hope that it works for you as well: I doubled the size of my swap/paging file to ~4GB and set the maximum to double that (~8GB). Since I did that, Fireworks has only crashed once (only once.. as if that is even acceptable considering the short time since then). It still runs fairly slowly (granted, I'm working on a large project, so I can tolerate that more), but at least I can use it again.

Lmtpd crashing approx once an hour
We have just moved over to a New Xeon 4x2.66Ghz Xserve running 10.4.8
I have just noticed in the lmptd.crash.log that about once an hour the following gets logged.

The crash logs look the same as Tony's first post in this thread. If I look at the crash time in the SMTP log, there are always entries that look like this:

Given the "postfix/pipe" I was excited to see the "rejectunauthpipelining" command in your Front-line Spam Defense document (http://osx.topicdesk.com/downloads/). (As an aside, I think there is an error in the document: my Xserve asked me to place an equal sign after "checkheloaccess").
I carried out all your instructions in that document, and yet I am still getting these crashes. Any other thoughts.

CS5 crashing randomly once I upgraded the PC

My system has Intel i5-2400, gigabyte Z68A-D3-B3 MB, 8GB kingston hyperx ram, Nvidia GT520. The system is running at 3.2ghz, which is 0.1 more than normal for that CPU.
The system is stable and super fast for everything. PS works great, especially for large images (18mpx - 20mb). Adobe Lightroom is blazingly fast with absolutely no problems.
However, I started experiencing random Photoshop CS5 crashes when (usually) several (like 10-15) large images are opened in the same time and I adjust one of the following:
- Open Noise Ninja
- Mistakingly pick the PS window and scroll it with the mouse (nvidia driver).
It does NOT happen every time, only now and then, like 3-4x a day when editing about 50-60 images in total.

I noticed that they both have Exception code: 0xc0000005.
Everything else in PS works just great (including the portraiture plugin). No problems.
I have the latest nvidia driver and latest NoiseNinja plugin, PS is the latest too.
Thanks!To that I would add that you should run Prime 95 even in that modest overclock. The 2400 isn't as "overclockable" as the 2500, and it's very possible that the binned part you have is actually at the low end of the acceptable range for that die.
If it still crashes when running default, run Prime 95 there as well. It's possible that in OCing that particular part, you may have damaged it, so check carefully and be sure that BIOS shows all the tweaks at default. -
MacBook Pro crashing about once every hour??
I've reset PVRAM (?) safe booted, did the Control Option Shift thing per Apple Tech Support, and Verified Disk Permission (as per Apple Tech Support). I really do think its a hard drive issue. Can you please help? Many thanks

DanieleI am using Fireworks CS5 in Windows 7 to sketch a large site, and it was taking an extremely long time to do anything and seemed to crash on me once or twice every hour. I saved every couple of minutes and could at least rely on my last save being able to be reloaded. However, a few days ago, I lost a lot of work when Fireworks crashed halfway through the save and destroyed the file. At the time, my most recent backup copy that I had on another drive was a day old, so that crash was not only frustrating but hazardous to my project deadlines (needless to say, I've since implemented a more aggressive backup policy). Anyway, I searched for answers and forums about the problem, and I'm disappointed that it seems that it's a common problem for a lot of folks that has been around for a very long time throughout multiple releases of the software. Memory and resources also seem to be a common factor in contributing to the crashes and are also a theme in the few solution responses that I was able to find. I hope that Adobe will respond with a once-and-for-all fix / a much more efficient and stable way for Fireworks to do its magic. I typically have had very positive things to say about Adobe software and was even the one who recommended the suite for my work, but especially as "well seasoned" and *expensive* as the software is, there is no excuse for any major, well-tested component of it by now to be crashing so consistenly and causing so many problems for so many people.
The solution to the crashing that seems to work for me so far - and I hope that it works for you as well: I doubled the size of my swap/paging file to ~4GB and set the maximum to double that (~8GB). Since I did that, Fireworks has only crashed once (only once.. as if that is even acceptable considering the short time since then). It still runs fairly slowly (granted, I'm working on a large project, so I can tolerate that more), but at least I can use it again.

Latest DisplayLink Drivers For Running Dual Monitors on Mac Lion OS Crashes Fireworks CS5
I run dual monitors off of my 2011 MacBook Pro via the Diamond BVU195 HD USB Display Adapter. The Diamond BVU195 uses DisplayLink drivers.
I upgraded my Mac OS to Lion yesterday and had to update my DisplayLink drivers to the latest version: 1.7b2. The new drivers enabled me to use my 2 monitors again. However, they also cause Adobe Fireworks CS5 to crash every time I try to open it. When I unplug the Diamond BVU195 and just use the laptop screen, Fireworks opens and works just fine.

I just purchased an HP laptop. It has Windows 8 installed on it. Ever since getting Firefox installed (with no add ons) I have been having problems. Firefox starts fine, loads fine, works fine. CS5 Crashes on Save or Title addition to time line.
I assigned my 1.5 hour project to an external drive with lots of space, but got caught by the fact that the common files cache files automatically go to the C:\USER\NAME\AppData\Roaming\adobe\ common\cache files location where CS5 Stores all the actual data that is used by and between the programs. Who Knew?! So I cleared tons of space on C: for this data.
Now every time I try to save a Preimier Project, or the system tries to store the latest import, it freezes. I have done the update to 5.02, I have disengaged my firewall and anti viruws. I have tried doing extremely simple projects with only a single title in the project. CS5 crashes more than a teenager in a demolition derby.
It worked once, till I over filled it, move things around. I have checked the media encoder and discovered that is sharing the same common files the CS5 Adobe Preimier is using. I am at wits end. The computer is a dual core Pentium HP with 4 meg of ram. Any ideas on how to stop my teenager from crashing. It sure seems to me that it crashes when it tires to save. Each time I go into the project after a crash, non of my resources are present.

wtih T7500 @2.20 GHz and 4 GB ram, operating with Vista Ultimate 64.
However, I thing there is another problem. That it is choking on my
high def files lasting over an hour and a half is understandable given
the slow disk drives and small memory. However
Here is the big however. I get a message on start up that EEventManger
is missing. I have used this computer prior with CS5 and it worked
sluggishly, ( see under powered), but it struggled through. I deleted
unneeded files and I think I deleted the EEventmanager which may be key
to Preimier's operation in the vista Ultimate environment.
Now I find that the simplist of projects, no video, no sound, just
creating a title that says hello, then immediately trying to save the
project, crashes Preimier CS5. That tells me its a system issue.
I know your software works as delivered. I need to know how to
examine, where in the stream of events that Premier is using that my
operating system is missing whatever dll I wrongly deleted when I was
making space for my big project to render. It there some tool I can
use to identify why it is crashing and what aspect of my operating
system, I wrongly deleted.
Another problem is my video display is a Nvida 6800 M GS. This is not
a supported video display. When CS5 dis work minimally on my system
earlier this week, that imcompatibility introduced an awkwardness that
was not however insurmountable. i was able to get a 1 hout 15 minute
high def project ready to render with multiple edits and trackes.
In summary, I need help with two things.
1. I have installed, uninstalled, changed and reinstalled many many
times. I am eating up activations at a rapid rate, and may run out if
there is a limit. All has been on the same computer with different
configurations. So need help with limits on activation, until I get
this resolved.
2. I need a way to discover where my operating system is defective. A
dump of why Premier's crash memory configuration might tell me where in
the operating system it went lacking. I have tried to find out how to
restore the EEventManger for VIsta, since that is the sign on to windows
error that is new with the problem, but have not yet found that out.
Please let me know what my activation status is and if there is a dump
that reveals where Premier cs5 died.

Fireworks CS5 patch re-posted now

New Patch for Fireworks CS5 is available through Adobe Updater.(Help->Updates).Installer through Adobe.com site will be available in couple of days. Please install the update and let us know your feedback.
Please note that the Application package has not been changed from what it was in older update(11.0.1.7) the application version also remains the same (11.0.1.7).Only the update shows version as 11.0.2 though internally it is same as 11.0.1.

Adobe Fireworks teamI am using Fireworks CS5 in Windows 7 to sketch a large site, and it was taking an extremely long time to do anything and seemed to crash on me once or twice every hour. I saved every couple of minutes and could at least rely on my last save being able to be reloaded. However, a few days ago, I lost a lot of work when Fireworks crashed halfway through the save and destroyed the file. At the time, my most recent backup copy that I had on another drive was a day old, so that crash was not only frustrating but hazardous to my project deadlines (needless to say, I've since implemented a more aggressive backup policy). Anyway, I searched for answers and forums about the problem, and I'm disappointed that it seems that it's a common problem for a lot of folks that has been around for a very long time throughout multiple releases of the software. Memory and resources also seem to be a common factor in contributing to the crashes and are also a theme in the few solution responses that I was able to find. I hope that Adobe will respond with a once-and-for-all fix / a much more efficient and stable way for Fireworks to do its magic. I typically have had very positive things to say about Adobe software and was even the one who recommended the suite for my work, but especially as "well seasoned" and *expensive* as the software is, there is no excuse for any major, well-tested component of it by now to be crashing so consistenly and causing so many problems for so many people.
The solution to the crashing that seems to work for me so far - and I hope that it works for you as well: I doubled the size of my swap/paging file to ~4GB and set the maximum to double that (~8GB). Since I did that, Fireworks has only crashed once (only once.. as if that is even acceptable considering the short time since then). It still runs fairly slowly (granted, I'm working on a large project, so I can tolerate that more), but at least I can use it again.

Fireworks CS6 - crashes all the time
Hi.
I have used adobes whole rage of products for years.
Last 2 years I've starded using fireworks cs5 and now cs6 on Mac.
We use it at work for weblayout wireframeing templating... really good program doing those kind of stuff.
But I never really could settle with Fireworks 100%.. because it craches at least 3-5 times a day for totally different reasons.
Mostly when klicking around in the UI.
I've noticed many of the UI in Fireworks is built with flash, performance is not even close compared to Photoshop.
Is it flash that makes Fireworks crash?

Are you experience the same problems? Photoshop is a excelent product and a true quality pice of program, but what happned with fireworks.
The great adobe feeling of a robust secure program is gone.
This makes Fireworks TOTALLY useless! It been around for years but Adobe doesnt seem to take notice in the thousads of people complainig.
Im sorry if I sound a little angry and negative but I really belive Adobe can do better than this.
//ChristianAdobe seems to be getting rid of Fireworks by letting it bleed to death. They never wanted Fireworks in the first place. They want us to just use Photoshop. Adobe bought Macromedia only for Flash and Dreamweaver. They handed Fireworks over to some small Indian development team with minimum funding and don't even bother to set any quality standards. It would be a bad decision to just bluntly pull the plug on Fireworks because the vast and loyal usergroup so they just bully us over tot Photoshop.
It's also not an option to sell Fireworks because it would be competition.
So eventually they did what I feared they would do after they bought Macromedia. They killed Fireworks but they're doing it slowly, sneaky and painfully.
I wish some smart, caring developer would make an alternative for Fireworks. Taking all it's top features (pages, symbols, shared libraries, vector editing, etc.) and build a modern tool specally for designing large, multi device webservices. These people would be my gods. -
Fireworks CS5 & CS5.1 Saves Incomplete File. Why? Anyone have a solution?
A couple weeks ago, using fireworks cs5.1, I opened a file I'd been working on the day prior to find that a good majority of pages were completely gone without a trace. I was unable to figure out the issue quickly enough, so I rolled back to fireworks cs5, redid the work I lost, and it has been working (saving/opening complete files) without issue… until today. Same problem. I save a file without issue (no errors, no warnings come up), quit fireworks, launch fireworks, open file, and a bunch of pages and even some random layers from the pages that remain are missing. What in the world could be causing this?
HELP!Same thing just happened to me, today. Although I did get an error message when I tried to save. This happens every once in a while for me with FW. But, I had successfully saved a few minutes earlier, so I just quit and started up FW again, expecting I would only have a few minutes of re-work to do.
More than half the objects from layers are missing, throughout the file, including portions of document symbols, buttons, etc. A complete disaster, many, many hours of work to re-do. Luckily I had started saving the file under a new file name a week earlier, so I have SOME content to start from.
I called Adobe Support. They said it is a known issue, and they are working on it. So, nothing we can do at this point.
From now on I'm going to save under a new file name once in a while, to avoid having this happen again. -
Fireworks CS5 wont start up in lion (error in preferences folder)
Ok, after 10 days with out FW CS5 on my new Lion installment. I finally cracked some kind of bug where FW would freeze just after loading and the last text in the CS5 logo was tabs and then the processor would go up to around 81% and just freeze.
Apple and Adobe, both blame each other and none could give an answer, but to re-install everything, which i just had done. (Man the big dudes are lost sometimes!)
"My" problem turned, that I seemlessly had a corrupt file in my ~/Library/Preferences/
But i couldnt figure out which one it was.
I ran a Terminal plutil -s *.plist and no errors showed up.
The solution turned out to be:
Deleted the entire macromedia folder in the ~/Library/Preferences/ folder and now its working.
macromedia is the name of the old FW creators before Adobe took over.
So i am guessing there is some kind of error, but who can tell. I cant, adobe cant and apple cant.

Its because the macromedia folder is recreated each time flash is used somehow.
I made an Automator App that
1) Locates the ~/Library/Preferences/Macromedia
2) Moves the Macromedia Folder to the Trash
3) Runs Adobe Fireworks CS 4
So all I need to do is click this Automator App instead of the Fireworks App in my Dock, and then I am sure it will start.
(I Know that this is not a 100% cool in the end fix, but seems like Adobe are ignoring this error after several of attempts of direct action to tell them.)

Problem with copying and pasting text blocks in Fireworks CS5
Until recently when I copied and pasted a text block in Fireworks CS5, the block would retain all formatting applied to the copied text block, font, size, color, etc. Now, the pasted block reverts to some default setting. Oddly, if I copy multiple text blocks, the formatting is retained as expected, but not if I copy a single text block. I cannot find a preference that affects this, and I cannot figure out what might have changed. The current behaviour is definitely not desired, and is dramatically affecting my efficiency. Anyone experienced something similar or have any ideas how to correct this? Thanks.
Sure, thanks for replying so quickly. My workflow is simple. My problem is limited to copying and pasting within Fireworks. I typically select an entire block with the main selection arrow but I sometimes use this one too depending on the context. I usually just use the keyboard CTRL-C then CTRL-V to paste. Previously (and I have been using FW for years, it's always been the same) it would paste an identical text block directly over the top of the copied one, and it looked exactly the same, same font, same color, etc. Now, it pastes a new block in the center of the document and all the formatting has reverted to what I guess is the default, in this case Myriad Pro 12pt. The behavior is the same no matter which arrow I use to select the text block. I tried Edit>Copy and Edit>Paste, the effect was the same. The Duplicate function seems to work as desired, but I had never noticed or tried that command before reading your post. Using the keyboard to copy/paste is such an ingrained habit I'd much prefer to continue using it as I always have instead of trying to retrain myself. (I'm old, retraining is hard!)

Most often I copy and paste directly on the canvas, but occasionally will do it within the layers panel. Both now have the same undesired effect. I also tried creating a new document to see if it was a corruption in my current file, but the issue persisted to the new document as well.

My computer crashed and once restored I could only sync "purchased content". I dont want to lose over 500 songs. My ITunes file now only contained the "purchased content" items. My Ipod Touch still contains all the original music. HELP!! How can I download music from my IPod Touch and somehow get it into my computer (ITunes Lirbary)...... Can I down load my content to a computer that does not have ITunes installed?
