Fireworks cs6 copy up graphic copies other button property instead of current button

I am doing the tutorial in Classroom in a Book Lesson 11. Created the symbol for the button (navigation) and made the five menu labels. First button "FEATURES" works fine.
Then when I try to do the second button "FASHION", (created over state) if I hit copy up graphic in the properties panel, it copies the FEATURES all over again, instead of using FASHION. I have done this 3 or four times and each time it copies the properties from the wrong button. Its really aggravating! Why is it doing this?

I figured it out. You have to create a completely different button symbol for each nav button rather than creating instances of the button.

  • Fireworks CS6 Data Driven Graphics Wizard

    Does anyone have a solution for Data Driven Graphics Wizard not working in fireworks? It did work at one point in CS6 however after some updates it will no longer merge any text. Maybe I am doing something wrong but I don't believe so as I am using all of the same files that I had previously merged.

    Ask in the FW forum. I haven't used it since version 3 or so...

  • How to configure an ipod in order to be able to copy on my ipod other pc mu

    I would like to know if anyone knows how to configure an ipod video in order to be able to copy on my ipod other computers songs, instead of copying the other computers complete music library. How can i do that? am i just gonna be able to add music from my computer account and not from another pc ??????
    I would appreciate any help.
    Thank you very much.

    If you want to connect and use an iPod on more than one computer (For instance you have one at home and maybe a laptop or PC you use at work) you can change the update preference to "manually manage music and videos.

  • CS6 Fireworks "Copy Up Graphic"

    In using Adobe's  CS6 Fireworks, I am having trouble when creating the states of the buttons following the information given in the Creating Buttons tutorial "Create Button Symbols".  The instructions state that you are to click the "copy up graphic" button.  I am having difficulty finding this button and wonder if it may have been eliminated in the CS6 version.
    Here is what I have done:  Tried to make sure that the properties inspector was showing all information by dragging the box upward to allow options that may have be obscured to be visible .  Checked all preferences, checked all symbols within the flyout box for states.  Read through several tuturials and watched a couple of video tuturials.  Unfortunately, the video tutorials may not have necessarily been CS6.
    If someone can point out where I may have missed this, I would be most appreciative.  Is there an option somewhere that would allow this to be shown on my property inspector or phrased another way, an option which would discontinue my property inspector from hiding the available options?
    Thank you

    Double-click the Button Symbol instance on the canvas or in the Document Library in order to edit it. You'll then see its properties in the Properties panel. Now choose a State other than "Up" in the Properties panel, and voila—the "Copy Up Graphic" button will appear, like this:
    Alternatively, you could use the States panel in order to edit the Button Symbol. With the Up state selected, select the items on the canvas that you need to copy to another state, and then choose "Copy to States..." from the panel's fly-out menu (in the upper right-hand corner of the panel):

  • Problem editing labels of radio button symbols in Fireworks CS6

    Hi,
    I'm new to Fireworks, and I am struggling with symbols. I have encountered several problems creating reusable symbols and especially editing the labels.
    Problem 1
    I can't edit the label of a symbol that I create using a default Common Library symbol as a starting point. Here's how to reproduce:
    - Open a default symbol, say RadioButton(win) for editing
    - Do changes (font for example)
    - Save as a new symbol in the Common Library folder
    - Use the new symbol in a new document
    - Editing the label in symbol instance properties does not work
    Continuing with a rather irrelevant use case just trying to understand what is going on:
    - Add a default symbol RadioButton(win) from the Common Library to the same document
    - Now try editing the label of the new symbol (added to the document above)
    - The label (and other properties) of the default symbol are edited instead
    Problem 2
    Why can I not enter a number as a label of the RadioButton(win) symbol, found in the Common Library? The workaround is simple though, I can just enter a number followed by a space.
    Problem 3
    How to create a set of a heading and three radio buttons as a symbol? If I simply convert three RadioButton(win) symbols and a text element to a new symbol, I lose the possibility to edit the labels of the radion buttons. The properties show that the radio buttons have labels from the time before converting to a new symbol, but in the new symbol the radio button elements have labels that say "label", and I cannot edit them.
    What is the best way to create radio buttons, check boxes, combo boxes and other symbols with custom look and feel, while retaining all the functionality of the symbols?
    Thank you,

  • Unable to copy+paste from Illustrator CC 2014 to Fireworks CS6

    It seems to me like Illustrator CC 2014 is riddled with bugs and compatibility issues. The latest one I have found is that I am unable to copy+paste directly from Illustrator CC 2014 to Fireworks CS6. However it does work when I copy+paste from Illustrator CC 2014 > Illustrator CC (previous version) > Fireworks CS6. Anyone else have this problem?

    View in Illustrator
    Create file in Photoshop CC
    Paste in Photoshop CC
    Create file in Photoshop CS5
    Paste in photoshop CS5
    it's a magic!
    I paste always as Smart Object
    And special for you, create big file in Ps CC
    Paste
    Looking good but
    white 1-Pixel edges are still there, in Cs5 there are no white edges

  • Why can't I copy an image or vector from Illustrator CC and paste to Fireworks CS6?

    Why can't I copy an image or vector from Illustrator CC and paste to Fireworks CS6? This was possible with Illustrator CS6. I know they are different versions but since there is no Fireworks CC, is there a fix update???

    Yes, other users have complained about that. Unfortunately, Fireworks' development was halted a year ago, and I would be surprised if Adobe spends any money or time to fix bugs and interoperability issues in Fireworks. I would not expect any real updates or fixes.
    Tough to swallow, but FW is dead in the water and EOL'ed.

  • Better use for Fireworks CS6, other than animated gifs and batch process?

    I started using fireworks in the much earlier days of web design back in 2000. Now with Illustrator and Photoshop being the law of the land, fireworks has begun to fade and take a back seat.  Primarily right now i use fireworks just for creating animated gifs and batch process if i have a bunch of images that i would like to re-export or format to my liking.  Does anyone have any other better uses for this program?  detPhx
    I am just looking to utilize this more, since i install it.

    For the web, exported PNG compression is better in FW than PS.
    CS6 FW can now generate code  for CSS3 borders, gradients, Sprites, etc...
    FW can be used for jQuery Mobile Theme skinning
    http://tv.adobe.com/show/learn-fireworks-cs6/
    I still use AI for vector graphics & PS for photo & image manipulation, but FW has some nice features for web designers.

  • Fireworks CS6

    I discover a problem or bug in Fireworks CS6 while ago , posted in Fireworks forum  - no answer…report it like a bug to adobe – no answer,….call to technical support,…after been on hold ,described all info, on hold again, I got answer:  report it like a bug on adobe side  and support forum ,,,,,when I told support person , that I did that already, he told me, nothing else he can do for me…
    I just guessing,  nobody give a s….t anymore, nowhere, and that seems to be a problem in all around us, that is why economy sucks and…..
    I am old enough to still remember old good times, when people still care and if you call from English speaking country, you got help speaking English..
    Anyway, problem is, if you create a new document, and create a small slice in the middle, then create a hot spot bigger then that slice, and preview it in MS explorer, you will see some blue borders, frames around slices. Google Chrome or Safari is OK.
    You can just create only hot spot in empty document, and it happened too, just first description is better to see.
    And old Fireworks is OK, CS5…………….
    No big deal for me, just have to use CS5,…just try to help developers fix bags….if they care…
    This is document how it look in Fireworks:
    And here is explorer:

    Rudy,
    You've already made progress in isolating the problem: It occurs in CS6 but not in CS5. A good strategy would be to create a simple file in CS5, and then export it twice: first in CS5 and then again in CS6. When it comes to HTML output, the answer should be somewhere in the code. Compare the two versions. Use Dreamweaver's code view, or use the View Source option that's available in most web browsers.
    I tried this myself, using a simple Fireworks file containing just a single slice. I used the default export options for both CS5 and CS6, then opened both HTML files in Firefox and used its View Source option.
    This first graphic below shows the HTML output from CS5. The second shows the HTML output from CS6.
    See the difference? The CS5 version is riddled with border="0" attributes on every img tag. The CS6 version omits these attributes. Believe it or not, the CS6 version is probably better, from a contemporary coding standpoint. The use of style attributes on HTML tags (as in CS5) is deprecated in favor of using CSS rules. But then again, the use of slices, in general, is not a contemporary, standards-based method of web development—except, perhaps, in small doses.
    The good news: If you're looking for an easy fix for this, I think I've got one for you. Within Fireworks CS6, go to File > HTML Setup... and then under the HTML Style dropdown menu, select "Generic XHTML" instead of Dreamweaver XHTML. (Or choose Generic HTML.) This seems to bring back the border="0" attributes. And once you've made this change, it should become the new default for all your Fireworks CS6 documents.
    The bad news: Web development is a constantly moving target. When creating web designs and converting them to code, you're creating instructions for a design rather than the design itself. Each web browser has a tendency to interpret those instructions slightly differently. That's why Internet Explorer is showing you blue borders, where Google Chrome is not.
    I wouldn't trust Fireworks as a resource for contemporary web development practices. It's pretty much behind the times. But that doesn't mean it's not good for some things—like design, or certain aspects of the development process. And it's evolving, too.
    Much in line with Linda's suggestion (and my own on your previous post), you could instead opt to address this problem by adding a small CSS declaration to the existing style tag within the head of your HTML document, something like this:
    <style type="text/css">
        td img {display: block; border: 0;}
    </style>
    However, this would require modifying the code directly—and may require a bit of tweaking and experimentation—which may not be your preference. So my first suggestion might work better for you.
    Hope this helps. My fee for this consultation will be two bottles of scotch.

  • Fireworks CS6 from CC doens't respond properly anymore-

    Hi there,
    I'm working in Fireworks CS6 at my office and the problem I have since last Friday is,
    that the whole application doesn't respond properly anymore.
    The tool-shortcuts doesn't work anymore. While clicking the V and A button on my keyboard
    the tools eventually change thru but they're not working. So when I want do select an element
    I usually have to just click it when the right arrow-tool is selected but since friday I have to
    go through my layer-window to select any element.
    The next problem is (just as another example) the type tool. I can't just click it and type the hell
    out of that text box, NO (!!!), I have to select a word or a whole paragraph and than shift through it
    with my arrow-keys on the keyboard. That's just not working well. Sometimes I can't even do it
    like that and I have to restart the whole application.
    Another problem appears while the zoom-tool is selected. I just can zoom in and out by clicking the
    left mouse button and drag the selection open. Just clicking doesn't work anymore.
    Any suggestions on how to solve that problem? I've already reinstalled Fireworks twice (also with deleting
    all supporting files and preferences while uninstall the application.)
    Thanks in advance,
    Adrian

    I am having similar problems. As of this morning, I can no longer use the text tool to select and edit text, using Zoom from the toolbar does not work, though the keyboard shortcut still functions, I'm sure there are other issues I haven't discovered yet, but I'm effectively stuck in the water now and will likely miss a huge deadline today because of this. Adobe, somebody, please help!
    Adrian, I am going to try reinstalling and if that doesn't work then I will try the Permissions fix suggested in this thread: Select Tool, Text Tool stopped working in Fireworks CS6 on Mac OS 10.9.3 rendering program useless.... thoughts?
    Although, to be honest, I'm not sure how to do that, but I'll get someone to help me. If any of those things work I'll report back. Please let me know if you have been able to resolve the problem since your post and what you did. Thanks!

  • Fireworks CS6 Freezing On Loading Keyboard Shortcuts

    For the past two days, whenever I try to start Adobe Fireworks CS6, the Splash menu freezes on "Initializing Keyboard Shortcuts". I have tried resetting the preferences and the program still freezes. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program several times, and am still not getting anywhere. Any suggestions or fixes for this matter?

    I know this question is almost one year old, but it's on page one on Google, so maybe I can help someone.
    For me it's a graphic tablet driver by Wacom that seems to interfere with Fireworks on startup while loading the keyboard shortcuts. After killing the driver's task in the task manager Fireworks starts up normally.

  • Fireworks cs6 drop down menu crossbrowser

    Hi there,,
    I am doing this drop down menu on fireworks cs6,its a horizontal menu,  and the dropdouwn menus on chrome appears on the middle of the button, the same happends on iexplorer,firefox and Opera.But on Safari it works perfectly.I send the fotos on atachment one  from google chrome and one from Safari.
    The one on the left is from google chrome, the drop down menu on all the buttons appears on the midle of the button,and its the same on all browsers,except on safari, the right foto.
    I tryed to use google chrome inspect tools and uncheck some of the css proprieties of the div correspondent to the uploads drop down link("uploads"), but nothing happends.it doesnt move up or down , not even a pixel.
    I want it to look like the Safari right foto on all browsers, How can i do that?
    i did the menu on fireworks cs6 and exported to dreamweaver cs6 as HTML, then i inserted the menu as fireworks html inside a div #nav, this is on the fluid grid layout on the  phone and tablet css:
    #nav {
              margin-top: 0px;
              clear: both;
              float: left;
              margin-left: 0;
              width: 100%;
              height: auto;
              min-height: 180px;
              display: block;
              background: rgba(66,65,66,1);
              background: -moz-linear-gradient(top, rgba(66,65,66,1) 0%, rgba(115,115,115,1) 2%, rgba(168,168,168,1) 57%, rgba(247,246,247,1) 97%, rgba(253,252,253,1) 100%);
              background: -webkit-gradient(left top, left bottom, color-stop(0%, rgba(66,65,66,1)), color-stop(2%, rgba(115,115,115,1)), color-stop(57%, rgba(168,168,168,1)), color-stop(97%, rgba(247,246,247,1)), color-stop(100%, rgba(253,252,253,1)));
              background: -webkit-linear-gradient(top, rgba(66,65,66,1) 0%, rgba(115,115,115,1) 2%, rgba(168,168,168,1) 57%, rgba(247,246,247,1) 97%, rgba(253,252,253,1) 100%);
              background: -o-linear-gradient(top, rgba(66,65,66,1) 0%, rgba(115,115,115,1) 2%, rgba(168,168,168,1) 57%, rgba(247,246,247,1) 97%, rgba(253,252,253,1) 100%);
              background: -ms-linear-gradient(top, rgba(66,65,66,1) 0%, rgba(115,115,115,1) 2%, rgba(168,168,168,1) 57%, rgba(247,246,247,1) 97%, rgba(253,252,253,1) 100%);
              background: linear-gradient(to bottom, rgba(66,65,66,1) 0%, rgba(115,115,115,1) 2%, rgba(168,168,168,1) 57%, rgba(247,246,247,1) 97%, rgba(253,252,253,1) 100%);
       filter: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.gradient( startColorstr='#424142', endColorstr='#fdfcfd', GradientType=0 );
              padding: 0px;
    i used a http://www.cssmatic.com/  linear gradient as background for the div #nav and i also tryed to remove the background and still the problem remains,except on safari.
    On fireworks cs6 preview in browser(chrome) it also works perfectly, its only wen i export it to dreamweaver it only works like the preview on Apple safari.

  • Fireworks CS6 Trial cannot connect when I try to sign in.

    I've recently downloaded the Fireworks CS6 trial. I get the screen that promts me to sign in with my Adobe ID. Once I click the Sign In button I get the loading animation amd after a moment it will tell me to "Please connect to the Internet and retry." The issue is, my computer is connected to the internet and for what it's worth, my clock is set correctly as well.
    I can also sign into the download assistant without issue.
    Any insight would be appreciated.
