Fireworks CS6 Freezing On Loading Keyboard Shortcuts

For the past two days, whenever I try to start Adobe Fireworks CS6, the Splash menu freezes on "Initializing Keyboard Shortcuts". I have tried resetting the preferences and the program still freezes. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program several times, and am still not getting anywhere. Any suggestions or fixes for this matter?

I know this question is almost one year old, but it's on page one on Google, so maybe I can help someone.
For me it's a graphic tablet driver by Wacom that seems to interfere with Fireworks on startup while loading the keyboard shortcuts. After killing the driver's task in the task manager Fireworks starts up normally.

Extension Manager CS6 freezes when loading extensions
When launching Extension Manager CS6 it starts loading extensions but totally freezes when the last 30 percent of the loading extension bar is still unaccomplished. It is not possible to close the window, not even with the task manager. I have restart the computer to get rid of it.
My OS is Windows 7, 64 bit. The most recent versions of the entire Adobe CS family are installed, freshly updated, including the Extension Manager CS6.
To trace the cause of the problem I tried to create a log file in the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Extension Manager CS6. I logged in as administrator and wrote in the Command Prompt Window:
echo > ExManLog.YES
The log file was created but contains nothing but "ECHO is on".
A possible cause of the problem might be that I have two installed active version of Ajatix Advanced CSS Drop Down Menu, which is an add-on to Dreamweaver. The first version is the free one, the second is the full paid version. I would like to deactivate the first one since which might make the Extension Manager happier. But the only way to deactivate it that I know of is to use the Extension Manager. Catch 22.

Dear Carl, thanks for the advice that made me understand how to remove an extension without using the Extension Manager. However, the problem persists, i.e the Extension Manager freezes soon after it is launched, when the last 30 percent of the loading extension bar is still unaccomplished.
Following your instruction I have tried to remove both my versions of the troublesome DW extension (Ajatix Advanced CSS Drop Down Menu). Which in my case meant that I deleted the following files:
the files com.ajatix.AdvancedCSSMenuLight.mxi, com.ajatix.AdvancedCSSMenuLight.mxi_air and com.ajatix.AdvancedCSSMenuLight.zxp in C:\Users\<My UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Extension Manager CS6\EM Store\Dreamweaver CS6
and the files ajxcssmenu2.3.0.mxi, ajxcssmenu2.3.0.mxi_air and ajxcssmenu2.3.0.mxp in C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Extension Manager CS6\EM Store\Dreamweaver CS6
In the hope of cleaning out everything from this extension I have also deleted the following files:
AJXCSSMenu.chm, AJXCSSMenu.dll in C:\Users\UpdatusUser\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver CS6\en_US\Configuration\JSExtensions
and AJXCSSMenu.chm, AJXCSSMenu.dll, AJXCSSMenuLight.chm, AJXCSSMenuLight.dll in C:\Users\ipb-master\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver CS6\en_US\Configuration\JSExtensions
Every time I thus get rid of the Ajitex files the Extension Manager seems happy and loads the only extension I currently have left (Adobe exchange). However when I reinstall the Ajitex extension, the Extension Manager behaves in the same bad manner, freezes after approximately 70 percent of the process of loading extensions. Same thing when I remove this extension and try to install another from Ajitex (Email Spam Blocker). It seems to install all right but afterward the Extension Manager freezes when launched.
Don't know what to do now.

I may have a possible solution for you. Have you recently installed a Wacom tablet?
I ask because I was digging for answers and found an old post about how Wacom drivers weren't installing properly, which was in turn causing an old version of Fireworks not to work. It made me stop and realize that Fireworks was working fine UNTIL I installed my new Wacom tablet on my laptop. The next day, Fireworks started giving that error. So I uninstalled my tablet, and Fireworks now runs again.
I haven't reinstalled the tablet yet. But the post said that reinstalling the Wacom and then having it reinstall the drivers should fix both the Wacom issue as well as keep Fireworks working.

CS6 will not save keyboard shortcut for dust & scratches filter

I am running Photoshop CS6 with all updates on a Windows 8 system. I have several keyboard shortcuts set up that all work fine but when I assign a keyboard shortcut for the dust & scratches filter it will work until I close Photoshop - when I then open Photoshop again this shortcut is gone but all my other shortcuts remain.
I have tried going back to the default keyboard shortcuts and then adding just the shortcut for dust & scratches (I have tried ctrl-F8 and several others) and then closing Photoshop and opening it again with the same results. I was able to add back all of my other shortcuts and they work fine.
For some reason I can assign a keyboard shortcut to anything except the dust & scratches filter.
Can anyone shed some light on this problem?

I had a chance to try the script on a windows 8 machine running photoshop cs6 13.01 in both photoshop cs6 versions 32 and 64 bit and shortcuts seem to stay between restarts.
If in photoshop cs6 you go to File>Scripts you can see that the script is actually listed?
When i saved the script out of ExtendScript Toolkit i named it Dust and Scatches.jsx.
Did you run ExtendScript Toolkit as an administrator before saving the script?
(right click on the ExtendScript Toolkit shortcut (tile) and choose Run as Administrator)
Saved to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6\Presets\Scripts
(cs6 32 bit)
and
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6\Presets\Scripts
(cs6 64 bit)
Another possibilty if you can't get the script to work is using an action (Filter>Dust and Scratches) and assigning a function key for the shortcut.

IOS8: Safari freezing when using keyboard shortcuts

when using a keyboard shortcut in a field on a web page in Safari, the browser freezes when I enter, just as an example, the third character of that shortcut. That third character pops up from the keyboard, and that's it. Any way to fix that?

Found that the Safari freezing only occurs when the shortcut typing results in a typing suggestion. However, if this typing suggestion is rejected before typing on, Safari does not freeze.
But it still an annoying bug.

I never said people want to do that. I sure don't want to do that, and I'm pretty sure that no one really wants to do that. What's your alternative? You say you would rather re-record or re-establish all of these workarounds on every machine one by one. That's fine for you. But it's absurd on a large scale or for experienced users.

Exists if you record a macro. Fortunately, you can load action sets. And nice try with the condescension about "simplistic users." Pasting is not an action that caters only to "simplistic users." That asinine suggestion and tired strawman amounts to the old "you're not using it right" excuse, which is never accompanied by an explanation of how.
Adobe's longstanding failure to address design defects is evident all over Photoshop:
1. Dialogs don't remember previous settings. The Image Size dialog is a great example. Every time you pull it up, the units of measure are reset. So you have to switch from pixels to percent, or inches to pixels, over and over and over. The Save As dialog demonstrates the same disregard for user choices.
2. By default, Undo alternates between Undo and Re-do. Other applications have had multi-step undo for 20 years, and there's already a re-do key.
3. You fix #2 by remapping Ctrl-Z to "step backward" (on every system, because of the hotkey problem we've already discussed). This reveals another longstanding bug: "Step backward" inexplicably changes the layer that you selected, in addition to undoing the last action. If you were on a text layer and then switch to a bitmap layer and make a brush stroke, try pressing Ctrl-Z. Not only is the brush stroke undone, but the text layer is reselected, making it impossible to make a new stroke until you go and reselect the bitmap layer.
4. After drawing a selection box with the Rectangular Marquee tool, you can't resize it without going up to the Select menu and picking "Transform Selection" (or mapping a key for this on every system). Why can't you resize it by dragging any edge immediately? Even the free software that comes with scanners handles this properly.
5. Zooming with the mouse wheel doesn't snap to standard zoom factors. In fact, if you zoom with the wheel, you often can't even return to 100%. It will go from 99.4% to 102%, skipping 100%. Common sense would dictate that the zoom snaps when crossing Photoshop's normal zoom levels, like 25%, 50%, 66.7%, 100%, 200%, and so on. Note "when crossing"; I'm not saying the wheel should ONLY go to those factors.
6. No integrated thumbnail browser. It took until what, 2005, before Photoshop had any thumbnail browser at all, and it arrived in the form of a bloated separate application. Shareware photo-editing programs in the '90s had speedy and efficient thumbnail browsing, but in 2011 Adobe still can't pull it off. We hoped "mini-Bridge" was finally going to address this, but nope: You still have to have Bridge running. Sad.
And that's just what I can think of at the moment. Then there's Illustrator, which is practically abandonware at this point. If you want to talk about "many users over many years," this glaring defect is a great example:

DW CS6 where to find keyboard shortcut to insert li tag?

Hi, before updating to the latest CS6 build (I think, certainly in DW5/5.5) I used to be able to define a keyboard shortcut to insert an li tag (and select that from the menu) - I used this all the time. I can not now see where I can define a shortcut to do this anymore (or a dt or dd for that matter). Either I am going blind, or it is a new bug. I hope it is the former and someone can tell me where it is. Thanks for any help!
NB: Update - I notice from here (http://helpx.adobe.com/content/help/en/dreamweaver/using/changes-insert-options-creative-c loud.html#main-pars_text) that Creative Cloud CS has had Insert > Tag (and others removed) making it LESS functional to me than non-cloud CS6 and CS5.5. Who was the brain behind that decision? Is the idea to get people to buy both offline and cloud versions and so make even more money? I thought Creative Cloud was the "ultimate" offering?

As you've already noticed, the Text category has been removed from the Insert panel/bar and Insert menu. As a result, you can't assign a keyboard shortcut to <li>, <dt>, or <dd>.
However, you can assign keyboard shortcuts to <ol>, <ul>, and <dl>. They're in the List submenu of the Format menu. Once you have inserted a list, just pressing Enter/Return should create the <li> items. In the case of a definition list, pressing Enter/Return creates <dt> and <dd> elements alternately.

Why is Fireworks CS6 freezing at launch?

I have Adobe Master Suite CS6 for Windows 7 on a 64x Dell PC. In Fireworks, I made a selection at a check box directing the software to find textures on my server (I dont remember the window name). Since then, I have not been able to open up Fireworks. When I go to select the icon to open my fireworks software, it gets locked on the splash screen at the "Initializing Textures" stage. It stays on for about 10 minutes then disappears never opening the software.
HELP!!!! I have already tried uninstalling & reinstalling (Fireworks Only) yet to no avail, I still dont have the use of Fireworks anymore. Any clues how I can resolve the problem?

Trash the prefs in your user directory (C:Users\You\AppData\Roaming\Adobe and so on).

Premiere Pro CS6 freezes during loading

Having used thsi programm several times successfully all of the sudden since today, after a few seconds of loading process of Premiere Pro CS6, loading process always starts freezzing at loading stage : "loading ExporterQuickTimeHost.bundle" (Mac OS). Deinstallation and reinstallation didn't help.
Can someone help me?

How do I disable keyboard shortcuts in Fireworks?

I have been unable to type anything inside of Fireworks CS6. Somehow my keyboard shortcuts have been activated and my mouse's left-click option is disabled. I'm sure this is just a matter of hit a combination of keys, but I can't seem to find the answer anywhere. I am using the Mac Maverick OS.

I used to use the keyconfig extension to change keyboard assignments:

Keyboard shortcut for "Help" search menu (CS6)

In CS5 I managed to remove all shortcuts overriding the CMD + Shift + 7, thus being able to use that standar shortcut for executing a menu search on Mac OSX.
Since switching to CS6 (and importing my keyboard shortcuts from CS5), CMD + Shift + 7 doens't work anymore when I'm working in an artboard.
_However_, if I have a modal view (e.g. "Preferences > General") open, the shortcut works as intended...
Any leads, anyone?

Command . will close the spotlight window but keep the search in there.
It will be there next time you hit Command spacebar

Fireworks CS6, was ok .. now crashes .. HELP!

I've been merrily using Fireworks CS6 for a while now (PC installation on vista ultimate 64bit). Worked just fine and no problems.
But suddenly (like maybe within the past two or three days, if I launch it, the splash screen appears, loads the interface and sits waiting for me to either reopen a previous file, or create a new one. So far so good.
As soon as I do either however, the software locks up and I have to head to Task Manager to kill it.
my older version of Fireworks is still on the machine, so I have used that instead .. which is ok of course .. but how can I get my CS6 version working again?
any suggestions will be warming welcomed.

spoke too soon, now Fireworks CS6 will start to launch until the splash says 'xxxs loading keyboard shortcuts' (xx meaning seconds to wait I assume), it it then hangs. Older version failed too .. so I am currently without fireworks ..and I have some projects arriving for which it would be REALLY hand to hav it working again.
HELP !!

Illustrator CC Type "Change Case" keyboard shortcut not working

In Illustrator CS6 I established a keyboard shortcut of Alt+Shift+Ctrl+= to the command Type-->Change Case-->UPPERCASE (and Alt+Shift+Ctrl+- to Type-->Change Case-->Title Case). In Illustrator CC, these two keyboard shortcuts are not working. They are displaying in the Type menu correctly, and the menu commands themselves work correctly, but the shortcuts do not work. Any ideas?

Well, as I stated, the = worked fine in CS6 on Windows. I just tried to changing it to Alt+Shift+Ctrl+U and that one does work correctly. I would prefer that Adobe minimizes functionality regressions in new releases, even if there are conceivably workarounds that I could employ.
Would somebody be willing to try Alt+Shift+Ctrl+= on a PC and see if they can get it to work on their system?
