Fireworks not listed in Open With in Vista

can't get jpgs to Associate with Fireworks CS3 in Vista - if
i select "Choose Default Program" and browse to Fireworks.exe it
still won't show up in the dialog. also doesn't appear in Open With
in the Context menu...
in the Default Programs option in Control Panel it's the same
issue.
Anybody?

Yes, I had that same problem.
Note: I run CS3 on Windows Vista x64 and therefore the
prgrams are placed in Program Files (x64)
I made a textfile and put the following text in it:
<code>
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell]
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\Open with Fireworks CS3]
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\Open with Fireworks CS3\command]
@=C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Fireworks
CS3\Fireworks.exe %1
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\Open with Dreamweaver]
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\Open with Dreamweaver\Command]
@=C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver
CS3\Dreamweaver.exe %1
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\Open with Photoshop CS3]
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\Open with Photoshop CS3\command]
@=C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop
CS3\Photoshop.exe %1
</code>
Make sure you put in the proper map name for programs if
needed.
Save this file and rename the extension from .txt to .reg.
Than double clik the reg file and your registry will be updated
with the above info. After that you will find three more options in
the context menu.
Hope this helps.

  • How to add an app to the 'recommended applications' list for 'open with other' in finder?

How can I add an app to the 'recommended applications' list for 'open with other' in finder?
Specifically, I have Final Draft 8 and Final Draft Tagger 2.
Final Draft Tagger 2 is used to manipulate and create scheduling information for movie scripts written using Final Draft.
It is NOT on the Recommended Applications list when using Finder to open a .fdx file using 'Open with Other'.
I've modified the info.plist for Final Draft Tagger 2 by copying the entry for Final Draft Documents from Final Draft 8 and removing the original entry, which differed. I then rebooted the machine and was saddened because it did not work.
    Suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    That's not useful.
I want to add a app to the recommended applications list so I don't have to waste time doing this every time I want to use the app on a file.
I thought my question made that clear.
    Any suggestions for doing this?

If you have set this phone up, then there would not necessarily be a solution here until you have been verify with the provider that everything is provisioned correctly on their end. Since the 3G comes from your cellular provider, if the settings are correct on the phone, then you should work with the carrier next.

  • How do I add a 2nd editor to dreamweaver's list of "Open With"?

When in Dreamweaver I sometimes want to open some source code using an external editor. Dreamweaver "Open With" functionality allows dreamweaver or a lookup of an editor. I don't see any way to set multiple choices and still have an optional lookup a program to open it with. I would like to create the following.
    Dreamweaver
    ExternalEditor
Look Up Program to Open with.
I have discovered I am getting tired of looking up the same editor many times and I would like the editor to remain on the list. Is this possible with DW(CS4) 10.0 Build 4117.
    Thanks. Andy

In DW from the menu bar...
    Edit...Preferences...
Select "File Types / Editors" from Category panel on left
In "External Code Editor" text box, enter the full path of the text editor program you want to use (or click "Browse..." to browse to it).
I've found this a little flaky, though.  It does show the External editor in "Open With..." for html files, but not, say, for .txt files, even after I removed it from the "Open in Code View" list (on the same page).  I had to add the extension to the configuration panel below to get it to work with text files.  "Open With..." shows Dreamweaver if you want to use code view.

  • Using Open With in Vista

I recently upgraded from CS3 to CS4 on two computers, one with XP and the other with Vista. The computer with the XP I have had no problems. The computer with Vista I have a problem trying to open Jpeg files using the Open With feature of Vista. I have been trying to add PhotoShop, In-Design and Bridge, so far, as default programs.
Windows will allow me to find PhotoShop, e.g. But, when I click on the photoshop icon to set it as the default, nothing happens. It is the same for the other programs in CS4.
I don't have this problem on the computer with XP on it and I never had this problem, on either computer, with CS3.
Has anyone else experienced this or have any suggestions? I called Adobe and they just said it was a Windows problem and to call Dell.
    Thanks,
    Doug

In Vista, if I select a JPG and double click it, it opens a window with the image showing. At the top of the page at the end of the horizontal menu it says "Open" and I choose Adobe Photoshop out of the list. Do you have the same options?

  • Abode not listed in "open in" box

I cannot open a PDF file in Abode as this is not in the list of 10 readers shown in the dialogue box. How can get Abode to be in this box so I can open a file with Abode.

How many Applications are shown in the list?
If the list is full with more than 10 PDF supporting apps, then the only option iOS gives you is to uninstall some of those applications so that Adobe Reader will show up.  I believe that you can then re-install them, but I can't promise that works reilably.
If there are fewer than 10 applications, then you may just need to scroll the list. By default it shows 4, but you can use a touch-drag gesture to scroll the list of applicatoins.

  • Appended Comments Fields Not displaying in Open with Access SharePoint 2013

i have a Issues List which is actively been used as a helpdesk ticketing system amongst one of the groups within my organization. Within that list we have Comments Field( Multiple Line Of text) and its set to Append changes to existing text.
One of the Office Admins uses the "Open with Access" Feature of that list to open the list in the access view and do some reporting. We are able to open the list in the Access, but Comments Field is not displaying the appended comments in that
Comments field we talked about above.
Is there something, i need to tunr on to activate that or is it not supported?
    Your insights would be helpful

    Hi Octopus,
I understand that you want to display the Appended changes to the multiple line of text field when using "Open with Access".
Per my knowledge, the “Append change to existing text” feature is the feature of the item view.
It calls the “Comments” data from the versions and display them on the item view. It is just a “view".
The original data of the versions does not locate in the list items but in the version files.
The contents of the “Comments” column are the latest update contents of this column exist in this list.
So, the contents in the versions will not be displayed in Access when using Open with Access, even if using Export to Excel.
    It is by design.
    Best regards.
    Thanks

  • Compressor is not a finder "open with" recommended application for qt's

On my macbookpro If I select a quicktime file in the finder and go to the file:open with:recommended applications, compressor is not a choice. I can easily choose it as a nonrecommended application, but it's a bit of a pain. The same is true for a quicktime export from fcp (the first quicktime export option, not quicktime conversion) which has a fcp icon not a qt icon. On my G5 tower, qt files do have compressor as an option for open with, but fcp exports, do not.
Obviously I could change the "open with" option in the file info for either an individual file or all files of this type, but I just want compressor available in the "open with" list for either file type.
This ain't a deal breaker, just a minor annoyance.
Message was edited by: Michael Grenadier

    What version of FCS/FCP, Michael?
If you're using FCP 5.x, the issue with QuickTime Movie exports from FCP is because those movies do not have an .mov extension. You can't drag them to the Compressor icon on the dock and force Compressor to open, for instance, like you can for anything else that actually has a .mov extension.
As far as opening QT movies with Compressor, mind explaining why you're doing this? That is, you're opening them in Compressor for previewing purposes, correct?

  • DESPERATE! IPOD NOT SHOWING IN ITUNES WITH WINDOWS VISTA.

I recently bought a new Dell Dimension E520 which came with windows vista pre installed. I seem to be one of many people having problems with it!
Newest version of Itunes (7.1) is installed and working fine. When I plug my IPOD nano in however nothing happens. It is visible in the device manager on my PC but doesn't show in itunes.
I've been to the apple store and they said that the new itunes should fix the problem but it hasn't. they've checked my nano and it is fully up to date.
I know it is a driver problem but i have absolutely no idea what i'm looking for when i go to the support section on this website!
the reason I bought a new PC was that my old computer wouldn't download the new itunes and therefore i couldn't access the store or any songs bought from the store on my nano (plus it was 14 years old). it did however actually recognise my IPOD!
It's been nearly 6 months since i've been able to update my ipod with songs and i'm getting desperate!!!! please can anyone help??

iTunes does not yet support Windows Vista. There are numerous problems running iTunes on it. The latest release of iTuens 7.1 fixed some of them but not all.

  • Large size file could not copy from "Open with explorer" in SharePoint.

    Hi,
I have uploaded around "120 mb" file in Document Library. I was trying to copy that file from "Open with explorer" to my local system. I am getting "disk Space error".
Should i specify any size at any where in "Central Admin".
    Thanks & Regards

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
      1. Click Start,
    click Run, type regedit,
    and then click OK.
      2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WebClient\Parameters
      3. In the right pane, right-click the FileSizeLimitInBytes value,
    and then click Modify.
      (If
FileSizeLimitInBytes does not exist then right-click the blank space in the right pane, click New,     click DWORD
    Value, type FileSizeLimitInBytes,
    and then click OK)
      4. Click on Decimal,
and type 4294967295 and click OK. Note The
default value for the file size limit is     50000000 bytes.
      5. Quit Registry Editor. Restart the computer.
    CAUSE
This issue occurs because a security change that was introduced in Windows XP SP2 affects the Web Distributed Authoring
and Versioning (WebDAV) redirector. This security change makes sure that an unauthorized server cannot force a client computer into a denial of service attack. If you try to download a file that is larger than 50000000 bytes, the client computer interprets
this download as a denial of service attack. Therefore, the download process stops.

occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how

  • Duplicate programs listed in "Open With" menu

Whenever I control-click a file and want to select "Open With", there are duplicate programs listed. For example, if I want to open an AIFF file, QuickTime 7.6.2 shows up twice in the list along with iTunes, WaveBurner (a Logic Pro program) and other programs all showing up twice. Even another version of QuickTime (6.0.3) is listed.
Anyone else have ing this problem? Anyone know how to fix it? Thanks

    Hi, this should cure it...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then...
    Resetting Launch Services...

    Reboot.

  • Program not showing in open with context for HTML files

    I have a windows 8.1 64 Pro PC with a program called 1stPage.exe installed.
When I right click a .txt file I get 'Edit with 1st Page' in the context menu and it also shows in the open
    with menu.
However HTML files do not show these options. I have checked the registry and it would appear that the program
is set up on the open with menu exactly the same for both file types.
So it would appear that something is blocking 1stPage from showing against HTML files but I can't figure out
    what I need to change.
    Cheers
    Baz

    OK we have further developments
I tried installing this program on a Windows 7 32bit machine and I get exactly the same issue.
I tried it with both IE and chrome as default browsers and I tried changing default html editor.
I therefore suspect this when this program installs it is not setting all the registry entries windows 7/8
    require.
I know it's an old program but I have been using it for years and see no reason to change.
So I need help in understanding what I need to do to get windows 7/8 to display the context menu entry correctly

  • Photshop CS6 not showing as `open-with` for desktop/external hard.drive images

Hi, I have CS6 and am using Photoshop, but when I try to open any image on my desktop  the `open with` option dosent include Photoshop CS6, only other Adobe applications; even when I browse I can only find the Adobe systems file, with the .exe doc; I have a lot of images to edit, preferably without having to open Photoshop and individually open them from their folders; any advice on how to make Photshop CS6  `open-with`-able for any desktop/external hard drive images?

Thanks for raising this issue. I found the answer at: http://www.flickr.com/groups/photoshopsupport/discuss/72157630067784368/. Hope it works. I have done it but I believe I must now reboot before trying it.

  • CreatePDF not listed in 'Open in...' menu

Dear all, I have installed CreatePDF on my Ipad2, and I do not get CreatePDF as an option in the 'Open in...' menu. If I click a docx, I can choose between Open in Pages or Teamwiewer, xlsx-files let me choose between Numbers and Teamviewer! But never and with no file type it gives me CreatePDF! Is there anything I need to do, to make this work? I have tried deleting and and reinstallation, but that does not help. I am currently unable to use this app at all, as I can't find a way to get files in the app for conversion.

Are you able to launch the installed CreatePDF app by tapping on the CreatePDF icon?
    YES
Also, could you try opening a file from Safari or any other app like drop box and see if CreatePDF is shown in the OpenIn list?
Shows when I click 'open in...' on a .doc file in the iDisk app, does NOT show on .docx file
