Fireworks QuickLook plugin?

I would love to see a QuickLook plugin that could preview the pages within a Fireworks PNG file. I often have many pages in a single document, and it would be a huge time saver to be able to "QuickLook" them - much like you can when viewing a PDF file.
Does anyone know of this plugin, or know a developer who could make one? I know a lot of folks that would gladly pay for it. Or, if it could be included in the next FW release, that would be even better

This is a request which we got after the introduction of Pages feature in CS3 release. We have tried to work on it a bit and included the Page preview feature in CS5 release, but that is built within the product and not as an OS utility.
We extended this functionality of allowing to merge different pages of a file by inserting individual pages from different pages in multiple Fw png files.

Looking for newer Office.qlgenerator quicklook plugin

I am looking for a newer version of the Office.qlgenerator quicklook plugin. It displays Word documents, though very poorly. I have version 2.0, dated 2009. I am running 10.6.8.

To the best of my knowledge, the Office QuickLook plugin is not available separately. The only way I know of to get a later version is to get a newer version of Mac OS X. If you're having problems with Word documents not appearing, though, perhaps this will help:

Note that even in the latest QuickLook plugin for Office, documents are not always correctly formatted. So depending on your specific issue, this may not be something you can solve.

Suggestion- Quicklook Plugin

Anyone ever come across a Quicklook plugin which would allow you to quickly browse the contents of an FCP project from the Finder? It'd be a great idea for someone smarter than me to write if it doesn't already exist. Ideally, it would simply allow you to see what you see in the FCP Browser, from the FInder, using Quicklook. Can't be that hard, based on the other Quicklook plugins I'm already using.

No no - I mean that you could click the project icon, hit the space bar, and see the Browser contents - so you could identify "hey where is that one little sequence I did for that project, is it in this project or that project?" Like the way the Quicklook zip plugin can see inside the contents of a zip archive. It'd be really handy.

Spotlight stuck at plugin bundle info of parallels quicklook plugin

Spotlight keeps calculating the time for indexing for some weeks now. I didn't found anything on google, there were only one or two pratly related entries and the solutions for them didn't work for me.
I get the following console message most of the times I search something with spotlight:
ws-87-96.haw-1x.haw-hamburg.de SystemUIServer[288]: [QL] Can't get plugin bundle info at file://localhost/Applications/Parallels%20Desktop.app/Contents/Library/QuickLoo k/ParallelsQL.qlgenerator/
haw-1.x.haw-hamburg.de is the WLan in my high-school, but that doesn't mean anything since I also get the error when I'm home or turn the wifi off (and I also have it when I'm connected with 1.x.haw-hamburg).
I tried to remove the ParallelsQL.qlgenerator file out of Library/QuickLook/, but that didn't solve the problem, so I put it back in. Also I put the folder, the folder above it and the whole HD out of the indexing but that also didn't help, so I put all back out, and when Spotlight was done with indexing everything again I get the same error message as before and Spotlight keeps calculating the time needed for indexing.
Greatful for any help.

Basics, really. Verified, repaired disk permissions and cleared related preferences and scripts from the library folder.
That's basically it, besides searching for solutions online. The only board this came up on, was for a Plex, but there was no reply to that inquiry, and a different app is being referred to. I uninstalled Plex as well, but it did nothing.

Anyone know of a Lion-compatible Quicklook plugin for Illustrator CS5 files?

The Lion update seems to have hosed the plugin I had, which worked OK under 10.6. Thanks!

Thanks for this suggestion. I have tried SneakPeek Pro without success. The installer ran, created a plugin and a preference pane, but invoking QuickLook for Illustrator files still showed me just the file icon.
I have also tried the Adoview plugin. Same result.
I can't find good information on troubleshooting either of these plugins; this seems to be a pretty underdeveloped area. That's a surprise.
Any further suggestions (troubleshooting these plugins, hacks, other plugins) are more than welcome. Thanks!

.txt quicklook plugin?

it has always puzzled me why quicklook will not handle simple .txt files. it also puzzles me that I have looked extensively and cannot find such a plugin. the closest I have come is a plugin called qlstephen, which shows a number of plain text files so long as they do not have a suffix attached.
does anyone know of such a plugin, or how I might enable quicklook with .txt files?

Sounds rather odd to me. As I mentioned, plain text files that do not have a .txt extension show as a blank page, and will not display in QL, but once the extension is added to the file name, they acquire the generic text icon, and show in QL. You might open Console and do a QL on a text file and see if an error shows up.
When you do a QL the Finder should also show a boost in the % of CPU that it is using. Try launching Activity Monitor and determine if you see such an increase when you hit the spacebar for different files--more complex things, such RTF or PDFs with graphics and what not, boost finder CPU use by up to 10% on my machine, a simple text file about 2%. If I inspect the Finder with Activity Monitor and have it display Open Files and Ports, while I have a QL up of a text file, I see the following items present that are related to QuickLook:

AVI Quicklook plugin ?

Is there an AVI file plugin for Quicklook ?
The AVI codec reported by Quicktime is Motion JPEG OpenDML.
I can play these AVI files in Quicktime but would stiil like to view them with Quicklook before deciding to open them with Quicktime.

I've tried running the qlmanage program from terminal with the -p (compute preview) option on one of the AVI files. Here is what is sent to the console output:
30/01/13 10:11:19.843 PM qlmanage[6999]: Failed to communicate with qtkitserver: Connection invalid
30/01/13 10:11:19.844 PM qlmanage[6999]: Failed to initializeServer(), returned 5
30/01/13 10:11:20.794 PM WindowServer[100]: CGXDisableUpdate: UI updates were forcibly disabled by application "qlmanage" for over 1.00 seconds. Server has re-enabled them.
qtkitserver does not exist in the process list.
Maybe the initializeServr() function tries to activate it but fails - error code 5.
Does anyone know what these messages mean ?

That's the part I don't understand.
Do exactly what is says.
Set your iTunes Import prefs to AAC.
In iTunes, hold the Option key on a Mac, the Shift key on Windows then go to the iTunes menu Advanced -> Convert selection to... and select the music folder where your Lossless files are stored.
See this - iTunes: How to convert a song to a different file format below item 4.
"If you haven't imported some songs into iTunes yet, you can import and convert them at the same time. This will create a converted copy of the file in your iTunes Library based on your iTunes preferences. To convert all the songs in a folder or on a disk, hold down the Option key (Mac) or Shift key (Windows) and choose Advanced > Convert +Import preference setting+. The +Import preference setting+ will match what you chose in step 3. iTunes will prompt you for the location of the folder or disk you want to import and convert. All the songs in the folder or on the disk will be converted."

QuickLook Folder plugin fails

I have a quicklook plugin named "Folder.qlgenerator" which allows you to use the Quicklook function to see items in a folder. I used it all the time on past OS versions, but on 10.7 it does not work. Anyone else have this issue? I have the latest V3 "Folder.qlgenerator" Quicklook plugin.

I've been browsing the interwebs after coming across the ability to modify quicklook with additional plugins. I was drooling at the idea of peeping inside my folders with the spacebar or three-finger-tap. I haven't come across a difinitive answer, as alot of these quicklook plugins seem to be older and it seems that people don't really create new ones as much anymore. The short and sweet of it (at least my assumption) is that perhaps the folder.qlgenerator plugin was designed to work on power pc supported versions of OSX, e.g. - before Lion. I'm not sure if this is accurate, but it is the only explanation I can come up with. It's a simple file so I wouldn't see why this would be the case, but until someone tells me otherwise, that's what I figure.

Quicklook thumbnail generation without folded corner

If you look at the thumbnail icon in List or Column view in Finder, a JPEG image is not shown with a folded corner. However when I write a quicklook plugin using the XCode 3 wizard, I get folded corners on the icons.
Can anyone assist me in suppressing the corners, and making it just a plain image?
It might be a start if I could locate the PLIST for the plugin that actually provides thumbnails for JPEGs, but I can't seem to find it.
I have found somewhere that this can be done by adding QLDisableIconCorners = on to the QL plugin's PLIST, but this doesn't seem to help me.
Any ideas?

Thought I better clarify that I'm using QLThumbnailRequestSetImageWithData to generate the thumbnail, and passing it an JPEG or an ICNS file. Same results for both.

QuickLook: How to make QuickLook preview fonts bigger?

I have to preview an EPS header frequently the way as I need (drag an EPS on TextEdit icon and it will show an EPS header in text format), so I've asked one guy to write me a QuickLook plugin for to speedup my work. The plugin works perfect except one thing. Default font size in QuickLook for a text file are to small, it's hard to see anything on my screen.
Is there any way to change default font size in QuickLook?

Fireworks CS5 not finding Photoshop plug-ins

I recently installed Alien Skin Eye Candy 6 and Exposure 3 64-bit plug-ins. They are in my Photoshop plugins folder.
When I open the Fireworks preferences and select this as the Photoshop plug-ins folder, the plug-ins are not available in Fireworks. I just get the standard Fireworks list and "Photoshop Live Effects".
I tried trashing the preferences to no avail, and tried on a new user account - and really just can't understand why it is failing entirely to find the 3rd party plugins. Its no big deal - I hardly ever use them... but would still like to have them in the tank should they be needed for any reason.
Any help gratefully received.

I'm assuming that, presuming I can get access to the 32 bit installers, installing them directly into Fireworks own plugins folder will work if the Photoshop Plug-Ins checkbox is unchecked.
I will update this thread when I have a definitive response from Alien Skin.

Fireworks CS5 not opening.

Hey.
So here's my problem.
I've been using Fireworks (On Windows) for years but have recently jumped over to Mac OSX Snow Leopard and CS5 Master Collection.
Now, my whole suite works perfectly, I can open PS, DW, everything, and they work beautifully.
When I open FW, the icon loads in the dock for a couple seconds and then disappears as if I had just closed it.
As I am fairly new to OSX I am struggling to diagnose the problem,
any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Closing Quicklook, Finder crashes

Hello everybody, I've a annoying problem: everytime i open quicklook and preview some files, and then close it, the Finder closes (without an error message) by itself, and I have to reopen it clicking on its icon on the dock.. (so, every finder window I could have open, closes)
I should have no added quicklook plugins, and tried also creating a test account, having the same result. Permissions are ok.
Can somebody help me please?

That terrific! It wouldn't have been a permissions problem or else you would have gotten an "insufficient permissions" alert. I really didn't mean for you to upgrade, I thought you were running 10.5.4.
I would not have advised you to upgrade to attempt to solve problems because it can aggravate the very issues you're trying to fix. Also, not sure why after the install of the combo update you still had the issue. You have to restart to install and then it does a double restart after installing.
