Fireworks won't export as Illustrator

Hi, I need to export my Fireworks-8 .png designs as Adobe
Illustrator, but when I do it, the output file is very small (73kb
vs original png size of 9mb) and when opened has huge "X"s
thoughout and jumbled text. Does anyone know what I might be doing
wrong? Your suggestions would be very much apprciated!

You're not doing anything wrong. Fireworks only supports AI
version 8
for export, so chances are the things you have in the FW
document don't
translate to that incredibly old Illustrator version.
You will have better luck exporting as a Photoshop file, but
even that
in FW 8 was not particularly good.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news . . .

  • Illustrator Won't Export Large File

Hi, using Illustrator CS. My Illustrator document size is 10,000 x 1920 pixels. I need to export from Illustrator at this size at 72 dpi but Illustrator says:
“Could not Export. Rasterized Image Exceeds Maximum Bounds for Save for Web"
I tried using “Export" and "Save for Web” but I get the same answer.
Can someone using CS 5 open a new document 10,000 x 1920 pixels and try to export it at 72 dpi and tell me if it works? Thanks.

Yep. The screen shot below is an artboard of the size you indicated exported at 150 dpi (hence the larger dims).
    Take care, Mike

  • Is it possible to export to Illustrator CS

I have created some artwork in Pages, only to find out the printer will accept Illustrator CS. I know this is probably a really stupid question, but I'd rather not do the work all over again.

You are 100% right about that, and hopefully his printer has explained that to him. But, I think you gave a lecture rather than answering his question. "Is it possible to export to Illustrator CS", short answer, "no". Longer answer, "but if you export or save to a pdf, making sure to embed any fonts you may have used, then the chances are the printer will have better luck using your artwork." I think that's a better response!
This may not be the place to discuss it, but I've gotten a lot worse than word processor copy and art we for my job. Microsoft Publisher won't even work with Word, and yet we have people insisting that's all they have to send in for their "camera ready" copy. If I had a nickel for every time I've received 72dpi photos, or worse, images straight off someone's web page, for use in a printed publication, you would be reading the work of a very rich individual! In a perfect world, specifications are given to and understood by the artist before even starting the job, but it doesn't always work that way. Sometimes you just gotta shrug and say, "oh well, 'stuff' in, 'stuff' out!"

  • Podcast won't export from Garageband to iWeb

    Hi all
Help appreciated with this. I do a two hour music podcast (www.whatyouwantradio.com also available at http://soundcloud.com/whatyouwant-radio) which is created in Garageband and then exported to iWeb for uploading to my website. I've been running this, with few problems, since April 2009.
Recently the garageband podcast won't export to iWeb. It's random, and I seem to have been able to bypass it by changing the filename slightly, or adjusting the quality at which it is exported (I like to export at 320mps for best quality - big files but no complaints from the 100 or so listeners. Could be more - who knows as I can't get stats from iTunes. But I digress). However, the most recent podcast, which is already available on Soundcloud, just won't export. It goes through the motions (mixdown etc.) but nothing appears on iWeb on the other side. No error message, nothing. I know that memory has also been an issue in the past but right now there is plenty to spare (5.37GB at last glance).
I'd really be grateful for some help on this, I'm at a bit of a loss - no error message, no clue. As I say, this podcast has been going for nearly three years and it's only recently I've had this problem.
    Cheers,

Just a further note on this. I tried a couple more times yesterday to export the file. Starting out with over 5GB of memory, by the time I had tried twice this had gone down by a couple of GB. Still no export. This morning I noticed some new files in the trash that were from around the time of the failed exporting:
Note sure if you can see that, but I'm guessing the files are something to do with the failed export? Does anyone have any thoughts? Either way, this problem is still annoying the **** out of me...

  • OMF won't export out of final cut pro.

Exporting a 93min 1920x1080 HD timeline to OMF
5 second handles tried 2 second handles as well.
OMF won't export out of final cut pro. Get error message there is a 2 gb limit.
    Final cut 6.0.6
Have deadline. Didn't see it on any forum. Help!! Thanks!!

Seems like a weird thing to not be able to do since it's called final cut PRO...
Bagging on Final Cut Pro for OMF? HA! OMF has been around LONG BEFORE FCP was introduced. It isn't an FCP issue...OMF technology is VERY old. Over 20 years I believe. I used it on Avid...and it always had a 20GB limit.
You cannot deliver 1 track via OMF. You can ask the audio person. I know that Avid now allows you to export an AAF...but FCP doesn't do AAF. For embedded audio I think that OMF is the only way. SO you have to work within the limitations of that format.

  • Transparent edges in psd exported from Illustrator

    Hello Community,
I have something going on when I export from Illustrator as a PSD using the artboard. It ends up with a line of transparency around the edges, and is larger than the size of the art exported. It gains about .01 inch around the edges, and when I use 'trim transparent pixels' in Photoshop, it trims it down so it has only gained .07 inches around the edges, but doesn't lose the last line of pixels that are semi-transparent. I am using a script that exports it, then re-imports it and places it in the Illustrator file, effectively swapping the vector for raster. It's part of a larger process I have no control of, so the process is not something I can change, otherwise I wouldn't do that.
Why is it exporting with this line of transparency on the edges? It's causing white lines to show up in the file that it gets reimported to. Until now it was ok because it only shows in the bleed, which gets trimmed off. From now on, though, this process is supposed to be used for non-bleed items, and the white lines are showing up. Attached is a closeup of an example.
Does anyone have any ideas how to stop it from happening?
    Cheers,
    Emmy Williford

Ok I got it you have two choices to get rid of this problem this is what I found out.
if you export the file with the choice of art optimize or type optimize you will get this antialias artifact if you choose none as the optimize option then you will not get this anti alas artifact since there is no anti alias being applied.
The second choice is to turn on align to pixel grid and then you can export with art or type optimze as an anti alias option and this artifact will not be present.
You have a third option and that is to keeep your optimization options and set the color background shape to align to pixel grid on the object level and not the document level using the align to pixel grid option in the transform panel you have to show options in the transform panel to see this option.
Here is  no align to lixel grid with none for optimizing
Here it is with Art Optimized
Here it is with Type Optimized
Here it it with art optimized and align to pixel grid document wide
Here it is with the background object only set to align to pixel grid
I hope this gives you the options you need

  • Lines too dark in PDF exported from Illustrator

    Hi there!
When I export from Illustrator to PDF, all lines in the design looks black, when they are light grey in the original file.
    Here the examples:
    Any ideas?
    Thanks a lot!

Did you use Export in Illustrator or the Acrobat process. The Acrobat process would need to have the display resolution and such set to an appropriate setting. If you did the export, then you may have to look at the properties of the export process in Illustrator, not Acrobat.

When I export from Illustrator to PDF, all lines in the design looks black, when they are light grey in the original file.

    Thanks a lot!

Do you feel that this is a swetting that you would like to be able to set per document so that when it is opened by someone else this feature is turned off?
Or would you prefer to have this setting turned off by default?
Would you perhaps think that a warning stating that the document contains thin lines and to see them more accurately the user has to turn it off in the preferences would bve sufficient in case the user would not be so concerned acccurac but is more worried about their vision?
And yet perhaps a way to set this up in the preferences on the authors side so that when such a document is opened the user is given a choice of how they would like this setting configured in the future?

  • New Quicktime 7.6.6 (1671) won't export WAV files

HELP! - New Quicktime 7.6.6 (1671) won't export WAV files. I just did the automatic upgrade to the new version of Quicktime and now I can't export WAV files from a CAF file. The original .CAF file plays perfectly but when I attempt to export it the exported file is corrupted and won't play. I have another computer with the previous version of Quicktime and it exports the same file flawlessly. Anyone know what's going on with the new version? THANKS!

+Error writing to the file: C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesMiniPlayer.Resources\nb.lproj\iTunesMiniPlayerLocalized.dll. Verify that you have access to that directory.+
More often than not, that sort of message indicates file damage rather than a privileges issue on the file.
If you've got Windows XP, try doing a chkdsk over your C drive, as per:
How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
If you've got Vista, try the following procedure. Go "Start > Computer". Right-click on "Local Disk C:" and select "properties". Click the "Tools" tab. Click the "Check now" button in the "Error correction" section.
Do the disk checks find/repair any damage? If so, does an install go through properly afterwards?

  • FCP won't export M2V

I am running FCP Studio and trying to export an m2v. I recently upgraded my G5 and basically put my old hard drives right into the new G5 box. Since I did that, FCP asked for a serial number again, and I entered it. OK. Now I am trying to export the Mpeg2 and it says it can't export until DVD studio Pro is serialized - but then I run DVD studio pro and it IS serialized and registered. Restart did not fix it. FCP just can't seem to tell that DVD studio pro is already serialized and won't export. Should I trash my preferences? FCP or DVD studio pro or both? Any suggestions?

    FYI....
Trying to uninstall DVD Pro and then re-installing it will not work! I ran through this problem when I upgraded to FCP Studio. The issue lies between DVD Pro and QT7, it is a bug that apple is currently trying to resolve.
I spent numerous hours on the phone with apple to get this issue resolved. The best work around at the moment is going through Compressor and making a M2V. Compressor will retain your chapter markers from FCP no worries.
The only issue is time, it takes longer using compressor but the quality is 100x better because you have more control of the VBP.
    Good Luck

  • Cropped song settings won't export to slideshow

For some reason, my start/stop time settings for individual songs in itunes won't export to an iphoto slideshow. Is there another way to do this?

    David,
Your right. Changes made to the stop and start time of songs in iTunes don't seem to have any effect in iPhoto.
I suppose one work around would be to first burn the music for your slide show to a music CD and then reimport the tracks.
You could also use iMovie, GarageBand or a third party app like Sound Studio to actually edit the tracks (probably best to edit copies of the tracks) and then reimport the edited tracks back into iTunes.
Kind of a hassle. I'll continue to think a bout a more elegant solution.

  • Export from Illustrator as PSD

    Hello

  • Glitches during Export from Illustrator

I recently went from CS2 on an old G5 to CS5 on a newer, more powerful IMac.
Now, when I Export from Illustrator to Photoshop, the resultant files have small glitches: horizontal white lines one pixel high by several or many pixels in width.
The only recourse I have is to manually retouch or try to revive CS2 on my old computer.
There must be a better way?

I hope you can see this. I had to save the psd as a png.

I am having issues with PNG exports from Illustrator not opening up once exported.

ANd exactly sorry, this is useless. You have not provided any details about your export settings, version of AI, system info, how you are trying to view and so on. Just saying that it doesn't work is simply not good enough.
