Firing off a report from a dashboard.

Hello everyone- my first post! I hope you guys can help me...
As far as I know, you cannot export a table into an excel spreadsheet when that table is in a dashboard.
So I created a link in the dashboard soi that when you click on the account name it fires off a report that looks the same as the one in the dashboard.
I thought this would create a report that would allow the table to be exported but instead, the report appeared in the dashboard and there is no option to export to excel.
So does anyone know either...
Is there a way to download tables in dashboards to an excel spreadsheet?
OR...
Is there a way to fire off a report from a dashboard so that it can be exported to a spreadsheet?

You certainly can download data into tabular format from a Dashboard.
In the Dashboard Designer, choose the Properties button located on the embedded report that you want download-able. From the resulting menu, choose "Report Links".
This will give you the option for Refresh, Printer Friendly, and Download. You can choose to display any of these.
When enabled, the Download link works just as in Reports, offering to download the report in Excel, csv, etc.

  • Opening a instance of a webi report from a dashboard

    Hi everyone.
What's the syntax for opening a particular instance of a report in Infoview from a dashboard?. We have this daily report that gets generated everymorning and users want to be able to drilldown from our dashboard by selecting a date from the calendar. So if the user clicks ysterday's date, the instance of the report that was generated yesterday should be opened, not the latest one.
    Thanks.

    Hi Alden,
    Refer to page (66/82) of
[Viewing Reports and Documents using URLs|http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir31/en/xi3-1_url_reporting_opendocument_en.pdf] guide.
One of the opendoc parameters you pass should be "sInstance" and your URL should look something like
    http //<servername>:<port>/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?<parameter1>&<parameter2>&...&sInstance=(either Last/User/Param)

  • Open a webi report from a Dashboard components

    Hi All,
I have created a dashboard using Dashboards 4.0.It has a bar chart, line chart, combination chart.all these chart on X-Axis have month names as dimensions and y - axis shows different measures.
So now the requirement is the user wants to select any month from any one of the chart at one particular point of time.then the dashboard should open a Detailed Webi report( created in BI Launch pad) for the selected month and display that month data in a new window.
I know that we have to use the URL button in Dashboards for linking a webi document.
However i would like to know how to pass the selected month from the dashboard by selecting a particular month from any of the graph component as a parameter to the respective Webi report in BI Launch pad.
Hence any body how to implement this in Dashboards please let me know the step by step process.
    Thanking you,
    Regards,
    Naga Nanda Kishore.

    Hi Kishore,
Month name should be prompt for the Detail  Webi Report, so when u clicked on bar its going to carry that Month as Well. And Syntax for adding Month will be like below.
Suppose if it is Sample Open Doc:
    /BOE/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?sIDType=CUID&iDocID=Fq0JoFNoywYADK0AAADHRQkAABVdEABC
So u have to use this Syntax for Month
lsSMonth=+ Map the Cell where month is capturing. (Note:In  lsSMonth Month is next of Prompt for month in Detailed Report.
    And final URL will be
    "/BOE/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?mistype=CUID&iDocID=Fq0JoFNoywYADK0AAADHRQkAABVdEABC&lsSMonth=+Selected Month"
(Open Doc)                                                                                                                                                          (Sending         (Selected                                                                                                                                                                                       Month)                 Month)
And For trigger the URL button you have keep trigger URL when Month Value changes(Based on Selection), means you have map trigger cell to destination of Bar chart Month Destination.

  • Open the WebI report from Xcelsius dashboard

    Hi All,
I would like to know how to open the WebI report from the xcelsius dashboard.
Looking at the previous posts I followed the following steps to implement the same but that is not working.
Inserted the component URL button and used the folowing link:
    http://servername/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?sType=wid&sIDType=XXX
But this is givingerre: " Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"
Also, tried the copying the reprot link, but that is opening the Infoview login page.
I want the report to opened when we click the URL button.
Could someone please provide me a solution.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Sindhu

did you try passing the iDocID parameter? When prompted did you try to login to InfoView and check whether Report gets displayed?
Ideally the URL should be as below:
If you want to bypass the logon screen, you need to modify the OpenDocument.jsp to pass logon token to the above URL i.e.token=+token where the +token is being retrieved by sdk.

  • How to move the pages and reports from one dashboard to another

    hi all
can please any one tel me hw to copy the reports along with pages from one dashboard to another
    Thanks

    Hi,
Go to Administrator->Manage Presentation Catalg->Click on Group folder under which the dashboard and reports are present
1)Create one folder and copy the reports which are present in the dashboard pages you want(reports will be under some specific folder, open and copy one after the other to the newly created folder).Do this if you want other set of same reports for new dashboard that you are creating
2)Click on _portal and create a new folder(new dashboard)
3)Click on dashboad that is to be copied
4)copy the pages one after the other into new dashboard folder
If you are not keeping new set of reports then no need to point reports in pages,if reports are placed under new folder then go to each page and pull those reports from newly created folder.

  • Downloading Reports from a Dashboard

In normal reports you have the option to download any report to excel for example. In a dashboard you only have the "Printer Friendly" option. I noticed in the pre-built dashboards that each individual report has a "download" feature, but when creating reports for my custom dashboard the "download" or "printer friendly" option isn't shown for each report. Does anyone know how to add this feature to my reports?
    Thanks,
    Brent

    Hello Brent
I think you'll find this option when you design the dashbord and include each reports in it.
In the dashboard design page, on the report box, you have click on Properties > Report Links (in the middle of Display Result, Show View and Modify Request). You'll here be able to specify if you also want the refresh, printer friendly and/or download options.
You'll have to do it for each report you include in your dashboards.
    Hope this helps
    Thanks

  • Browser performance issue when Calling BI Publisher report from OBIEE dashb

    Hi Techies,
We installed OBIEE 10.1.3.3 on SunOS 5.9 unix box. This is PROD env.We are calling BIPublisher report from OBIEE dashboard by clicking the BIP reports link on OBIEE dashboard. After clikcing the link BIPublisher report is opening in another browser window. But is it taking time.
Plz tell me how can we reduce the time taken to open BIPublisher report window when we cilck on the report name in OBIEE dashboard
    Thanks,

    Suresh
There is no out of the box method to get the EBS report to OBIEE. You could look into moving the EBS report to a mountable web server directory after it completes and then show it in OBIEE via a link or html object. You will need to rename the report of course, every time you run it its going to change names.
In an after report trigger you could call a small java class to move and rename the file for you.
Alternatively, recreate the report in the standalone version. Be aware that you are going to have to set orgs yourself, BIP is not aware of orgs outside of EBS

  • Open Report From a Command Button - Script Instruction

I want to open a report from a dashboard via a command button.
What would be the script to do that?
Also, how would I get back to the dashboard from the report once it's opened?

    Console.Writeln("cmdRpt")
    ActiveDocument.Sections["Report"].Activate()
The code above is for a command button with the script to navigate to a particular "report".
To navigate back to Dashboard, simply select the dropdown menu below the menu icons.
    Good luck.

  • Stop the report from firing until the user clicks the Go button?

    Hi All,
Is there a way to stop the report from firing until the user clicks the Go button? At the moment it is populating when I open the dashboard page. I found something online that said i could use the Page Options>Save Current Settings> For Others.. but even though i am signed in as an administrator i only see a For Me.. option. Also, even after setting this option i would like to be able to hit the 'Go' button to run the report and have it uncollapse the section. Is this possible?
    Thanks

    Thanks for the replies,
In my report i am trying to constrain the report to todays data only. However the only prompt i have is for another column. If i place a filter on the date column with Year=0000 it will not change with the prompt selection and so will never return any results. Is there any other way?
It seems wasteful to fire a request to the database onload of the page. Is there an option to only fire a request what the prompts are entered? I will be using a stored proc which needs parameters to run the request so it would be good to be able to set the report to not run until it has parameters entered
    Thanks

  • Do we have any option to track the number of downloaded reports from the OBIEE dashboard or Analysis by the user using usage tracking.

Do we have any option to track the number of downloaded reports from the OBIEE dashboard or Analysis by the user using usage tracking.

I'll ask the question of our onsite Microsoft consulting guys, but it's my understanding that as enterprise admins, we have no controls over it. This is an outcome of putting the end-users in charge of their own destiny.
We can revoke a user's entitlement to Office365ProPlus in the portal and via scripts, but AFAIK only the user controls the allocation of their entitlement.
Revoking an assignment/allocation, when logged in as the user, doesn't require access to the assigned/allocated computer, but if the information about the assigned/allocated computers in the portal is vague or ambiguous, it's easy to revoke the "wrong" one.
There's not much here in this forum about the hosted/cloudy aspects, since this forum is mainly about the client-side bits (the client applications, setup and configuration of those) - so in here, I usually refer people off to the O365 community for the
    portal and hosted stuff.
(we have MS onsite at the moment for a big planning piece, around O365 and also Win8.1 and VDI. I'm not usually this lucky to have those guys on tap ;)

  • Passing multi-value parameter from BIEE dashboard to BIP report

It is possibile passing multi-value parameter from BIEE dashboard prompt to BI Publisher integrated report? (BIP report has a DB data source (not a answers))
    Thank you
    R.

    Hi Rajkm,
In order to pass a multi-value parameter through the Reporting Services Web services, you need to define the same numbers of ParameterValue objects as the number of the values of the multi-value parameter being past into the report. The Name property
of these ParameterValue objects must be specified same to the parameter name.
I found a good FAQ article for this scenario:
How do I pass a multi-value parameter into a report with Reporting Services Web service API?:

  • Migration A report or A Dashboard from One Env to Other ?

    Hi All,
How do we migrate a DasHBOARD or a REPORT from One env to Other env manually as well as with Catalog manager ?
    Thanks
    Shivaji

    Hi Shivaji,
Open your catalog manager 2 times i mean 2 catalog managers (2 instances)
Login in one catalog manager with the source from where you want to copy the reports..
Login in another catalog manager with other , which is target.
Now copy from the existed folders and paste in particular folders you want...
As per my knowledge, there is problem while copying dashboard pages.. and you need to create the dashboard pages manually and create objects..
i need to work on this and let you know..
I think you might have known how to copy the dashboards..
Go to particular _Portal* path of particular shared folder
There you find the dashboard pages.. and layout..
Need to copy these and paste in another environment
But no problem in copying the reports..
    Thanks & Regards
