Firmware 1.1.1 is awesome

Since this is a problems forum, I thought I would be a refresh to shed some positive lights on the subject.
The update process for me was as smooth as it can be. Apple has done it again, putting out quality product that no other companies can come close. I love the iPhone a little more after each update. The overall smoothness UI has been improved again. It fixed my Gmail problem (sent messages are no longer in my inbox). The skipping to next track, using the headset has been fixed (double click never advance to next track correctly; now it is 100% fixed). Love that little battery status bar for the Apple BT set.
Everything seems tighter and works much better with each firmware. Thank you Apple and especially to Apple awesome software engineers, my most respect and admiration.
Can't wait for the next update.

First downloaded 7.6 with software update, then updated Touch firmware and then purchased the new application package. All from itunes uk.

Nokia n95 reeboot wierd!!

hi... im a nokia n95 user and i juz gotta let u know... the new firmware update to v20 is awesome!! thanx nokia... but i am having some problems... and they started after i did the upgrade... im not sure if theyre connected, but i could use some help. My nokia n95... it reeboots when i insert the headphone cable... or when i insert the tv-out cable. It also reeboots when i start the f-secure application. whats wrong wit my nokia n95?

Did you restore your phone from a backup? If so, it could be worth wiping and starting from scratch - a lot of issues after updates are caused by that.
If that doesn't sort it, you could try reinstalling the firmware update via the NSU / Nokia Service Centre.
Either way, you should back up your phone contents individually first - save all the images / contacts / music etc. to your PC then copy them back afterwards.

FIXES:
-Ensures correct playback on the player of Zencast audio content that has been transferred using Zencast organiser. Remaining time is displayed correctly, and rewind / fast-forward functions can be used
- Allows users to transfer tracks between folders on the player when using a program such as Creative Mediasource [THIS IS NEEDED FOR ALL MTP PLAYERS]
- Allows charging via USB when the player is not being used by a program or is low on battery [THIS FEATURE SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN REMOVED BY MTP UPGRADE]
ENHANCEMENTS / ADDITIONAL FEAUTRES [I HAVE LISTED THESE BY MY PERSONAL ORDER OF PREFERENCE]:
) Allows the playback of Audible content types ,2,3,4 on the player, via a plug-in in Audible Manager

Flickering - radeon, awesome, xterm

Hi!
I'm setting up Arch on my notebook and I have problems with flickering.
The config is very basic - just Xorg, open source Radeon driver and awesome wm. When rearranging xterm windows using awesome they flicker and they are redrawn slowly. It takes few seconds for xterm running top to settle down and not flicker. It looks like video driver is not working properly or Xorg setup is wrong. I've checked similar config under VirtualBox on my PC and there were no similar issues.
Looking into dmesg and Xorg logs I could not find anything obvious for me. I tried adding Xorg config files with more specific settings of Monitor, Display etc, including DPI, display size, etc but with no luck. I'm not sure what should I check next and what could be the problem.

After software/firmware UD, battery life decreased significantly+overheating problems

Specs of my laptop:
13 inch late 2011
2.4 GHz Intel Core i5
4gb 1333 MHz DDR3
Mac OSX Lion 10.7.5 (11G63)
Hi, a month or two ago I did a software/firmware update (the thing that automatically pops up once in a while and asks if you want to update). Before the update, I was getting 7-8 hours running safari on a bright level (more than half) which was awesome!
Anyways, after I did the update, my battery life decreased significantly. If my brightness was at half, I got around 2.5 hours MAX. If I ran word and safari it wouldn't even last two hours.
Along with the horrible decrease in battery life, my laptop now gets really hot, really quickly, even if I'm only running safari on a low brightness. Sometimes the fan vibrates becuase it's working so hard...it's NEVER done that before.
I took it into the Apple store 'genius' bar, since I still have the warranty and the person that helped me offered no resolution. He told me that my battery still has life and didn't know why my laptop did this, laughed...and then dismissed me (rude). haha

Hi, thanks for your advice. I just tried resetting and it worked momentarily (battery life improved, fan stopped making so much noise) UNTIL I put my computer to sleep and opened it again... when i first reset, battery life said 5:48. The fan was fine until I put it to sleep (closed the lid and opened five minutes later). Now it's heating up again and the fan is going crazy (making that buzzing noise), battery life is at 2:40 on same display brightness (half). I only have safari open....
Is there anything else I can try to do? Not sure why this happens after I put it to sleep. I don't want to have to reset my computer every single time I open it.

EDIT: after posting this, not even five minutes later my battery time dropped to 2:07 and is funneling down as I type.

Power Mac G5 duel 2.7 firmware / bootrom version 5.2.4f1 ?? is this latest?

I was looking to see if Apple had updated the firmware version for my 2.7 because it has always been a little noisy. The fans kick up whenever you have the computer launch a big app like photoshop or garageband. It then winds down quickly and is pretty quiet. It has always done this. I looked at all the firmware versions for Power Mac G5's and could not find the one that my mac says it's running under system profiler. It says version 5.2.4f1 The one I have seen to download is 5.1.2f2. Is this a more recent firmware the number suggests that it is not and why is it that I can't even find the version I have. My computer is fine otherwise and I don't want to do anything that may damage it with the wrong firmware bu tif there is one that addresses the issue i would like to install it.

Thanks! I figured it was the case. It would be ok to slow down the processors because I am going to be using it connected to my HD tv for dvd watching ,itunes, and so on. So most of those things don't need the speed. And if I want to play games a little fan noise won't be noticed when I turn the speed to full.
Good tip. Even though I new about that option, I forgot that that would reduce the fan noise. With the ATI Radeon 800xt and their Ati Displays control panel you can scale the macs resolution to fit the hdtv perfectly without over scanning using the dvi connection. It's awesome.

TV out problem, rolling back to earlier firmwares

I went and bought a component video cable from Apple, so I could improve my video output to TV (I've got a composite video cable, as well)
Well, get back from the Apple store, hook up my cable to test it and -- nothing plays back, absolutely nothing. Went back to my old composite video cable, same thing! No output to my TV set.
Now, 6-months ago I was on the road and getting awesome playback from the Touch. The only thing that's changed is installation of the latest firmware.
SO DOES 2.1 KILL TELEVISION OUTPUT ON THE TOUCH???
Also have a couple of questions/ideas I could use some help with.
- might a complete restore, reset fix the TV out with the 2.1 firmware? If so, can anyone guide me on how to do so?
- if the firmware is the problem, does anyone know how I can roll back to 1.4.4 or whatever the older drivers were that actually worked regarding TV out? How does one even go about finding and installing the older drivers?
Any help appreciated because as it stands now, both my AV cables charge the Touch but when I play a video, it's as if there's no cables attached -- video only plays back on the screen (which is a drag cause I've spent $100 on these two cables).

Upgrade kernel26-firmware to linux-firmware report with some problem

Just now I upgrade my system from kernel26-firmware to linux-firmware, in X (Awesome WM).
After press Y and pacman start downloading, I'm afk for a while (take a bath), when I'm come back
My system freeze and proses show that system still make mkinitcpio for fallback.
I hard reset, and boot. Boot failed in 10 seconds message because it can't detect my filesystem.
Follow suggestion that I need add some parameters I can boot.
Then I check with pacman -Syu, and you can guess there's still db.lck. Then I remove it, and invoke pacman -Syu again, pacman failed because there's already file from linux-firmware on disk.
I try to downgrade, but failed with the same reason. Then I remove all folder and file that conflict, and install kernel26-firmware then upgrade to linux-firmware, now I have linux-firmware on my system.
Learn a lot from that problem, any thought guys ?! Maybe some of you have a better way to solve something like that ?!

All I can say is that when the linux-firmware package got into [testing], I switched without problems on my laptop. I 'migrated' to the linux-firmware package on my server a few hours ago and it went smoothly too. I don't really think your problem has anything to do with the firmware package, since that doesn't trigger an initcpio rebuild, nor are there any file conflicts between both firmware packages.

I really need some help...i bought yesterday a zen microphoto and i spent a lot of ours to configure it but i failed.Some months ago i had i zen micro so i'm not completely irrelevant with the subject.My Zen micro worked fine.But zen microPhoto does not!My computer recognizes it as a removable dri've but not as Zen player.Windows also recognizes it as a MTP player,but when i choose to organize it with media source,it says to connect my player even if is connected. I've tried to fix it in many ways:install-uninstall the device and the drivers,restart again and again my pc,put in and out the battery but nothing. Then i thought to get it in recovery mode and choose the 'reload firmware' option.(Maybe it was a wrong choice,but i could'n find anything else to do). The firmware was deleted and when i tried to run the new one,the window of the 'Plays for sure firmware update' prompted my to connect the player with my PC(even if it was recognized by windows).Now i have a useless zen device without a firmware.What can i do?Try another PC maybe?
I would appreciate any help... Thanx!
p.s. When i had the Zen micro,i didn't have these kind of problems.When i was connecting it,media source automatically recognized it and prompted my to organised it. I had no prompt from Windows for MTP player etc.

maybe i did the same thing i don't know..... i never ever got my damm microphoto to connect to my computer so a friend let me borrow her laptop, and?i took the advantage of ripping a large part of my cd collection onto my zen... awesome?so i was deleting some of the photos that come with it, when it froze... i took the battery out, and put it back in.... and waited for the library to rebuild.... now the screen says "select music to play from music library"... but there are absolutely no songs or albums, in my zen now wtf? no pictures either.... i go into system information and it says that there's "85MB free space"... so my songs are still in here and not deleted.... and now i keep connecting it to the usb, and the media explorer says "device not connected".... arrgghh i'm getting so frustrated someone help me please what happened? i've just about had it with this piece of junk so many problems with it from day one... i don't know why i didn't return it when i had the chance.....

Firmware wishlist for the MuVo Sport C

I would like to start a thread to discuss the suggestions for firmware update for the MuVo Sport C00. FYI, I am running firmware version .0.0. Please post your comments or ideas to my suggestions, or reply with your own comments.
Before I begin, I'd like to say that I think the C00 is an awesome sports player, but it could definitely be improved. My Fiance has the Rio Cali 256, which is also a good sports player. Right now I think it's a toss up between the Cali and C00, but I think the C00 has the potential to outshine the Cali. (I like the Cali's separate volume controls, but I dislike how it falls out of the armband.)
Here are my suggestions in my order of importance:
[urgent] Fix the stopwatch so that the user can change tracks while the stopwatch is running. You should be able to press "Menu' and toggle between stopwatch and music modes while the stopwatch is running.</LI>
[urgent] Fix shuffle mode so that it truly shuffles playback from internal and external memory. Right now it appears to select songs from internal memory 90% of the time. Also, I don't think the player has ever selected anything over the 200th song on the player for shuffle playback at the root level.</LI>
Provide the ability to select a specific song for playback from the Menu. Right now, you can only select the folder for playback and then navigate to a specific song from there.</LI>
Reorder the Menu icons, and place "Folder", "Stopwatch", "Music" and "Play Mode" next to each other. This would allow for easier and faster navigation while running.</LI>
That's all I can think of now. Does anyone know how to submit these to Creative's dev team so they can consider them for a future firmware update?

Definitely, point one in the list is the most urgent one (making player functions accessible without having to stop the stopwatch). This ridiculous flaw leads to the situation that from day one after buying the device it rests unused in my drawer. I do not agree that there is no marketing for this device. Actually, I bought this thing for 20 Euro after I read in an ad that this was the ideal mp3 player for sports. Maybe for 00m runners this is right (you barely change a music track during the2 seconds). But for any distance above 000m it is just laughable.
I wish there would not have been marketing at the time when I searched for a sports-mp3 player. I wouldn't have fallen into the trap to buy this crap. And that Creative is not able to provide a firmware upgrade which corrects this bug for about .5 years now is enought reason for me to make a BIG detour whenever I see a Creative product on a shelf.

Someone wrote earlier that "If I'm not mistaken, the 1.2.1 update includes something that makes accessories that aren't certified by Apple to no longer work with iPods. I'm sure that is why it only works with earlier updates."
Is this true? And, if so, I guess Apple is content with punishing people with 5th generation iPods (or any iPods, for that matter, I guess) with 1.2.1 firmware by not making it possible for them to use their iPods in their cars, unless they purchase one of the inferior piece of crap products offered in the Apple Store?

Rollback firmware (zen vision m 60

hi guys
im after an opinion as to whether i should risk rolling back my firmware from .2 to . (thanks for posting the link to the download by the way, you forum guys are awesome) in order to get Fm recording. i was all nice and organised when i first got my zen and upgraded to .2 straight away and now have just learnt i've lost fm recording ability. as far as i know theres 2 ways of doing it:
a) open the firmware file and when the box says it might corrupt music files because its an older version, click 'continue'
b) reset the player and select 'delete firmware' then put on the old one
just wondering if anyones done this and if it works? im assuming the 60gb model came with fm recording origionally..

the rollback worked fine so if anyone out theres considering it then go for it, despite saying it may corrupt files. in my case it was fine. problem was it hasnt enabled me to record fm radio (thus all those hours tracking down the old firmware were futile! - except for creating this post of course). this therefore means that despite what some forums say it seems like the 60gb vision m was never able to record fm (could someone from CL confirm this for me?). that is unless of course, i need an older firmware version...

V4 Firmware for N80 on Orange

STILL waiting for V4 Firmware to be approved by Orange...... I requested Orange Tech Support should contact me to inform me when the firmware might be approved. They have not done this and Orange Customer Services don't even have a record of my request!!!!!! I described the numerous problems I am having with this phone to Orange who ran it through their diagnostic system and they tell me that I need a replacement phone..............I think that this will be the 5th phone!!!! How much does it need to cost Orange and Nokia in both financial costs and customer satisfaction before V4 is approved? Do I care? NO. So I have just accepted Orange's offer of another replacement

Yeah, but it's not free. You're just a sucker for marketing. You're actually paying for a high rate monthly to get it "free". If you happen to be someone who uses the phone that much per month to justify it then sure it's a bargain although would you have used it so much if you just went PAYG? For me I use it for internet and the odd texting and mostly receiving calls, but I cannot justify the high monthly rate. PAYG is fine for me. I don't even spend anywhere near the very basic Orange monthly. The initial outlay of (in my case) £340 is about £30 a month. I could get a £30 a month package but I bet I can't get it free for that, but even if I could I'd be locked in to a 12 or 18 month contract and end up with a branded phone full of bugs and features locked out that the operator doesn't want you to use (SIP etc). Pay the same price for a sim-free phone and less hassle... no brainer!

When I connect phone to Nokia Software Updater they say that there is new update for my phone. So i try to update it but every attempt failed. The phone still shows above firmware.
