Firmware 4.3.4 corrupt..

I downloaded the new iPhone 4.3.4 firmware via iTunes, but it keeps coming up as corrupt when it finishes downloading. And I don't remember how, but my iPhone has now ****** up, and I can't turn it on or restore it, because it is in recovery mode and there are no restore option available other than restoring to factory settings which will wipe my phone, and download and install the latest firmware, but it keeps downloading as corrupt!! At this point in time I cannot even use my iPhone, it wont turn on, and I am extremely upset.. Can anyone tell me a way to fix this? I even downloaded the firmware from a external source and tried to install it but it gets like, 3 cm's along the progress bar and freezes!!! I am having withdrawals from not being able to use my phone!! ;( Any help is much appreciated!

Try disabling your firewall and antivirus, then download the update again. Delete the old update first to force a new download.

  • NSS6000 "Firmware Update Error: The firmware image file is corrupt."

    Hello All,
I've recently run into a problem trying to update the firmware on our NSS6000 to either 1.20.1 or 1.21.0.  We are currently running 1.16-3.
Each time after I click "Upgrade Firmware", the upgrade fails with the same error:  "Firmware Update Error: The firmware image file is corrupt.  Obtain another copy of the file and try the firmware upgrade again".
I've tried re-downloading the NSS6000_FW_1.20.1.tar.gz and NSS6000_FW_1.21.0.tar.gz several times from multiple PCs, and using multiple browsers.  I've tried several combinations of Windows Server 2003R2, Windows Server 2008R2, Windows 7, and Firefox, Chrome, and IE 8/9.
The downloads all appear to be fine, and they all can open/extract with 7-zip without issue.  The file sizes are always the same.
No combination of OS/Browser yields a different result on the upgrade attempt either.
I tried renaming NSS6000_FW_1.21.0.tar.gz to NSS6000_fwupgrade_0121.tar.gz to match the convention used in early versions (thinking that the extra "."'s could be the issue) but no luck either.
I was able to successfully re-apply the NSS6000_fwupgrade_0116.tar.gz firmware without any issues at all.
A strange thing I noticed, though, was on the "The system will reboot now. Please close your browser." window, it shows the device as an "NSS2000 2-Bay Gigabit Network Storage System" (please see attached screenshot).  I'm chalking that up to a simple reusing-the-same-web-code issue rather than the root of the problem, but thought I should mention that as well.
Has anyone else run into this issue, or have any suggestions for workarounds in order to successfully upgrade the FW on this device?  Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

    Hi,
Not sure what is going on i haven't see the issue you are having, can you try downloading both images at a different location; instead of behind your router. Also upgrade to .20 and then .21. Im pasting the release notes upgrades step.
When upgrading the firmware from v1.12 to v1.14, v1.12 to v1.20.1, or v1.12 to
v1.21.0 the Configuration GUI displays a "Programming images.." message
for more than 12 minutes (the time it takes to upgrade the firmware is
    usually 5 to 10 minutes).
The workaround is to wait at least 15 minutes to complete the upgrade and
then power cycle the NSS by removing the power cord. Do not try and
access the Configuration GUI during this time. (CSCsx17923) When upgrading the firmware from v1.12 to v1.14, v1.12 to v1.20.1, or v1.12 to

  • Corrupt Power Mac Firmware

Is there anyway to install a fresh firmware (4.2.8) on a system that already has firmware 4.2.8
I ask this because my sonnet firmware modifier software has corrupted my firmware (the system still boots but I can no longer add/remove the firmware patch by sonnet, I get an error "Unrecognised ROM")
I think I damaged the firmware as I've applied/removed the patch several times over the past week whilst trying to get my sonnet upgrade to work.
So yes, my question, can I install a fresh copy of the firmware? OS 9 won't let me - it says the firmware is up to date...waaaaa I want to cry...

Is the old CPU in it now?
Does it boot into Open Firmware with CMDOption+of ?

  • M500/M5x0 QUEUED-TRIM data corruption alert (mostly for Linux users)

The M550 (all released firmware), and the M500 (up to MU04 all released firmware) can cause data corruption when QUEUED TRIM is used. Since Crucial is not urging everyone to update to MU05 and are taking their time with the M550 update, I assume that Windows does not issue QUEUED TRIM by default, and therefore does not trigger the issue (yet). I have no idea about Intel RST enhanced windows drivers, MacOS or FreeBSD. Chances are they cannot trigger the bug, but you might want to check with the vendors.
EDIT: The M500 MU05 firmware still has the QUEUED TRIM data-killer bug, there are no safe firmware versions.EDIT: This is a problem on several outdated versions of the Linux kernel, for the 3.12, 3.13, 3.14 and 3.17 branches. Linux releases older than 3.12 will NOT trigger the bug. Recent releases of the 3.12, 3.13, 3.14 and 3.17 branches have a blacklist in place and will NOT trigger the bug. The 3.15 and 3.16 kernels also have the blacklist, and won't trigger the firmware bug.
     Dangerous for use in kernels:3.12 (before 3.12.29);3.13 (before 3.13.7);
3.14 (before 3.14.20);3.17 (before 3.17.1) - regression in the blacklist, fixed in 3.17.1. Safe kernels:anything before 3.12;3.12.29 and later;3.13.7 and later;3.14.20 and later;3.15 (all);3.16 (all);3.17.1 and later.Bug workaround for any kernel version (tanks performance down to a crawl on most workloads): disable NCQ in the kernel command line, by adding the libata.force=noncq parameter in the bootloader. The "uname -r" command will tell you the Linux kernel release you're running on.

/: 106956468224 bytes were trimmed Right now I have no more errors in log file except those recorded after first reboot so I guess I should wait for data corruption? It should show up much faster if you have the filesystem mounted with the "discard" option, which enables online discard mode.  My best guess is that corruption won't trigger on just every write, likely you want to have pending writes inside the SSD, and maybe cause a trim near them, or something else like that. Running the "mount" command as root should show you the mount options ("sudo mount" might do it in default Ubuntu).  "sudo mount -o discard, remount /" might enable it if it isn't already there.  Or try "sudo su -" to go root, and issue the commands without "sudo". Now, where the corruption, should it happen, will end up going, I don't know. EDIT:  Doing a lot of filesystem work might help, as well.  Maybe running bonie++ (warning: will do a lot of writes), or several concurrent file creation/remove workloads.  Doing it either in online discard mode, or running fstrim concurrently should do it, I guess.

  • Filesystem Corruption?

    Hi, Folks,
While this is indeed conjecture, it appears that the 2.0 series of firmware has a filesystem corruption problem as the amount of content on the device increases - in particular, once many applications have been installed. The behavior that I've witnessed in this circumstance is somewhat progressive. Initially, application install or updates begin to slow down dramatically. User behavior starts to contribute to the problem: when an update might takes more than five minute, folks may try aborting the update or sync, which often leads to a corrupted filesystem. This is easy to identify; powering down then back up again will lead to an "Apple logo" hang. Only a DFU restore will recover from this failure.
Much more significant is that even in the absence of inappropriate user behavior, the filesystem issue continues to worsen over time. For techies, the symptoms appear quite similar to serious fragmentation (or analogously for in-memory issues, garbage collection). I'm beginning to think that the core Flash filesystem code has a bug which starts to yield incorrect FS handling once many files are present. A key symptom is that attempts to restore from a backup will often report that the backup file is corrupted. My best guess is that the backup itself was probably performed properly, but the reported corruption actually may have been caused by the iPhone's filesystem itself becoming corrupted prior to the backup.
After having run into this issue often enough that I've needed to perform ~10 DFU restores on three iPhones (one original 8GB, and two 3G 16GB devices), this indeed appears to be a serious problem. Though my guess is that the iPhone's filesystem code is the root cause, I'm interested in hearing feedback from other folks who may have encountered this issue. Are the problems which you've seen consistent with this hypothesis?
    Cheers!
    Mark

    Hello!
I'll add one more interesting data point. I've since found that I have had two different backup files that take well over an hour to restore onto a newly DFU-restored phone. On both of these files, the backup would proceed fairly quickly to a specific point (~50% on one file, and about 75% on the other file), and then would stop (the progress bar kept spinning, but with no forward progress) for about 1 hour, and then would continue and ultimately succeed. It's intriguing that repeating this process with each of these files yielded exactly the same "pause point".
While the thought of a timeout occurring is still quite appropriate, this further suggests that if the core filesystem code is at fault, the error might be induced by a NAND/iNAND error condition (NAND Flash always has errors, by design; Flash filesystems are supposed to handle those errors gracefully). This deterministic very-long-delay condition suggests that (normal) Flash errors just might be confusing the filesystem driver.

  • How to get firmware file for nokia cdma 2280 RH-17...

my phone model no. is 2280 cdma RH-17MA and currently it turns off automatically and sometimes screen goes blank showing some vertical or horizontal lines...when I went to nearest nokia care ..they said its firmware problem and you have update the firmware ...I downloaded firmware update software and installed but dont know how to get the clean firmware as mine is corrupted which is why it has problems?

if you downloaded and installed NSU on your PC, just follow the instruction on how to go about it, if your phone is not being recognized, then perhaps your phone is not supported, i have not seen any CDMA Nokia phones that are being supported by NSU, your local nokia care centre should be able to fix your software problem, albeit i think you have to pay...

  • Failing to update firmware

I own two Iomega ix2 NAS devices that were purchased together.  I have been attempting to update the firmware in both.  In one device, I have not had any problems.
The other device, which currently has firmware version 4.0.6.192194, I consistently get an "" error message whenever I try to install firmware version 4.1.106.31982.
I feel confident that the firmware file is not corrupt since I was able to successfully install the same file on the second ix2 device.
The S/N of the troublesome device is significantly different (part numbers are identical, however).  So I am suspicious that the device is not exactly what it claims to be.
The S/N of the device failing to update is: LTA2310094
The S/N of the device which updated successfully is: LTA3021430
Thanks for any help you can provide.

    Hello dkobe
There are varying causes for this issue.  I do recommend contacting Lenovo Support  for the issue when you are able to.
I have some recommendations you can try though.
    1. If you have not already tried, please restart the unit via the web interface under system status or power the unit off/on using the power button on the rear of the unit.
    2. This shouldn't be an issue, but some browsers can have conflicts with devices.  You may want to try a different browser to try uploading and applying the update.
    3. If the issue is due to a disk fault, swapping the internal disks to opposite bays while powered off might allow you to complete the firmware update after booting.

  • WRT610n v2 firmware. Please help.

Hello, i have a problem with my router. It's firmware seems to be corrupted, the power blinks all the time. I tried to flash a new firmware via TFTP but i can't find a firmware for the router It's not available on the linksys website anymore. Does anyone knows where i can get it? Please help.. Thanks

I've checked the Linksys website but no firmware available anymore. What happened before you had this issue ? Try using another outlet and check if the power will goes back to solid. Or you can try doing the following steps :
    * Press and hold the reset button for 30 secs.
    * While holding the reset button, unplug the power cord from the back of the router and wait for 30 secs.
    * After 30 secs , plug in back the power cord and release the reset button.
    * Wait for 1-2 mins and check if the power light goes back to solid.

  • Corrupt PROM in Sun Ray270

    Hello,
After upgrading 30 Sun Ray270's to the latest firmware, I have 2 that are showing the signs of corrupted firmware (blinking led). The ethernet port led's are blinking showing data traffic. Is there any way to reset the PROM to factory default settings or load the correct firmware? The Sun Rays are on the same subnet(Network Switch) as the Sun Ray server, however, a MS Windows 2008R2 server is the DHCP server.
    Thanks,
    Regards,
    Brian.

The Sun Ray's emergency firmware loader, which runs if the main firmware download area is corrupt, is very basic. It requires DHCP to provide it with everything it needs to get online, make contact with a TFTP server and download a new firmware image into the main firmware area.
It's possible to configure any pretty much any DHCP server to provide all of the required information, but usually the easiest way to handle this is to take a spare NIC on the Sun ray server and use 'utadm -a' to configure that NIC to serve a dedicated, isolated Sun Ray "interconnect" subnet. 'utadm -a' will configure the DHCP server on the server to offer all of the required information to Sun Rays that are connected to the subnet, and will configure TFTP to offer the server's current firmware images to Sun Rays that are connected to that subnet. Then you connect your corrupted Sun Ray to that subnet and let it try to recover.
An interconnect created for this kind of recovery activity is sometimes called a "filling station" subnet. If you do a web search for "Sun Ray" and "filling station" you'll probably find a few documents and blogs that talk about using this technique to recover corrupted units.

I get the flashing orange BB light sometimes on accessing the HH pages.   I have even had it happen two or three times in succession, within a few seconds of turning blue each time.   I also get random disconnects, but whether this always shows the flashing orange I'm not sure, as I am not neccessarily in front of the computer.   I have just ocassionally caught it when I'm browing with Firefox, but it re-synchronises within a few seconds.  My present data are,

  • N97 Corrupt Face Book App - Will Not Delete

    Hi Guys,
I have a problem with my facebook app from ovi store. It corrupted somehow, ie, it woudlnt load. So when I went into the apps manager and uninstalled it uninstalled fine, and so I went to ovi to download it again. Great, works fine.
Now however I'm left with 2 facebook icons in my applications folder. Even when I try and uninstall the programme, only one icon is removed. The other remains. When I try and delete it via the organise option, it says file corrupt, and will not delete. Is there a way to delete this defunct icon by any chance? Please help me if you know.
    Regards
    Dave

@kavi - you actually NEED TO LEARN how to read user posts. that is not the case for this user.
there are things you can try to do but they are rather 'drastic' and make sure you have a back up. you can reinstall firmware or you can try these codes start with number one, tho it will not do much in your case i am afraid.
i would go with reinstalling the firmware, something did get corrupted to the point of not responding to the commands.
With all these operations I recommend you TAKE OUT MEMORY CARD and DO A BACK UP OF YOUR STUFF!!!
    1. *#7780# - Restore factory settings - resets all the settings to the default ( you will not lose any data)
Make sure you back up your data as you will lose all of it when you perform option 2 or 3 on this list. The default code for ALL operations listed here is 12345
    2. *#7370# - Reformat your phone (out of the box, tho keep in mind that most newer nokia phones at least n series, e series and s60 based phones have udp - user data preservation so not ALL data may be lost. still it is a good idea to always do a back up of your stuff.)
    3. This you perform as a last resort. Nothing else is working. If the phone is not showing any activity, proceed with hard formatting , turn off your phone, hold the following buttons while pressing the power button. (the default code is 12345)
hard reset - hold the following buttons *, 3 (number button) and talk/green key. turn on the phone and do not release those buttons until you see the Nokia boot up screen. once you feel the phone power up you can let go off the power button while still holding all three buttons ( for Nokia 5800XM - use the following buttons to do a hard reset, GREEN/RED/CAMERA keys pressed all at once on power up. this will only work on 5800's that have firmware version 20... and up. ) For Nokia N97 (unofficial version but works) is SHIFT /SPACE BAR / BACKSPACE while holding the power button. Again do not let go until you see the handshake screen.
If these codes are not working the only thing for you to do is contact your Nokia Care Center/Service for assistance.
You know what I love about you the most, the fact that you are not me ! In love with technology and all that it can offer. Join me in discovery....

  • Forcing iMac DV 400MHz (Early 2001) reflash the firmware

My firmware has somehow become corrupt. The machine still functions, but firmware related things such as the kernel panic image being corrupted and unreadable and some strange option-boot screen behaviors (including the Open Firmware screen coming up if booting from a linux operating system). Is there any way to force the firmware to bypass the version check and reflash anyway? Are there any other possible solutions to my problem? Thanks in advance.

Parry, Welcome to the discussion area!
...booting from a linux operating system...
Are there any other possible solutions to my problem?
If the firmware is actually corrupted you don't have many options. There is no way for a user to force a firmware update. The only solutions that I am aware of are (a) replace the motherboard or (b) take the iMac to an AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider) where they will probably replace the motherboard.

  • 2010 Mac Pro Crash and Firmware Update Issue

My 2010 Mac Pro crashes for no apparent reason. I have a couple FCP projects to finish and I cannot rely on this machine. I have the most recent problem report details and a pesky Firmware update that appears corrupted and refuses to install.
I've repaired permissions using Disk utility, applejack, and even used memtest to check that I didn't have a bad RAM module. All tasks ran successfully.
These may be 2 separate problems. I'm not sure at this point.
I'm using only 1/3 of the drive capacity for the OS drive and about on my Final Cut Media drive.
FCP is compatible. Been using it for nearly a year. Using a third drive for a Time Machine Back-up of all FCP media. The firmware update is specifically for the 2010 Mac Pro - Mac Pro EFI Update 1.5

    OK, thanks.
So I restored the original firmware, and I got through the update.
Here is what the update instructions should say:
"Once the flashing starts continue holding until the light is steady again."
I thnk my problem was that I released the button too soon.

  • Firmware Update Failure

    Linksys Wireless - G
    Model: WRT54GS v7
    Firmware Version: v7.50.5
Hi, I recently upadted my firmware because of lag problems on my xbox 360. I read it was always best to update the firmware so i gave it a shot. So i installed the new firmware in a .bin format and tried extracting it, nothing seemed to work so I then just went straight to the 192.168.1.1 site and tried to upload the firmware in it's .bin format. It began to show the bars proccess and then after awhile it said "update failed" then I returned to the home page and everything was corrupt pretty much. some images wouldn't load and some links, when clicked would send me to a page with text such as this: "ª ’Ô ·SšÔ áFãA*vØYÀçµr|ßkøëì5|—è·’h¹œ¶c¾ IÕÊWt.×¾¢s¶þì2z¥¼Y„6ý àÿ Z4ú6GÌ]ÐòìU¨ÕÔê;_;£H¾nïZI=·“¾&&Áu¯ÏlËó ?éÇ+ú R –G°ËM r3¸4Ì/~I Lèe¾Øv ù 8žÌ¯ ÐEÊ ·‡ÅÀ' : tæÈS¥ñ GÀŸ$¿ x ƒŽ¬RïÒv"{b ÿŸ ?´ Å „Æ,¥9K°€À¥›lzm0šAª › lOS× æ î— 5ß ¬ö"
LELA won't detect my router now, which is perfectly connected and running. I can access the internet. I keep trying to connect to XBOX Live which is now failing at the MTU step. It seems after I installed the update for the new firmware everything went wrong. I tried restting to factory settings, but nothing. It did however reset my router password thankfully. I can't access the Wireless tap at all on the firmware, which is what i need to access sadly. I'm basically stuck here. The firmware update is either corrupt or was interrupted but I doubt that. I have no idea what to do. I read the Sticky on the WRT54GS not being able to detect the router with a certain firmware, i downloaded that version of the firmware, but i can't even access the firmware update page on the site. please help
    thanks in advance

I have the same issue as KanMan in respect to the exact router and firmware acting weird. Whenever I log in to the 192.168.1.1 it just loads the startup screen, but when I tab over to wireless or any other tab, it gives me an error to display page. Oh well, thanks for the great how-to guide, I learned how to quickly update the firmware through another method than the GUI on the router webpage. Thanks :] I hope to find a fix soon. .More Details: The Linksys logo wont load, I can only get to the main router webscreen through Firefox, does not even prompt me in Internet Explorer, Disabled all Firewalls, Anti-Virus, etc etc.

  • External drives... whats the best for video.... ?

    Hi everyone,
I'm trying to figure out what the best bang for the buck is in regards to external drives, and what works best for video.
I have considered the LaCie enclosures, I have also considered buying a 500 GB SATA to replace the 200 GB second drive I have inside the G5. The issue than is what enclosure works the best with a MAC and is 1394 and will the firm ware support huge video files, for render or exporting?
Can anyone give some advice based on what they have learned through past experience.
    Thanks

I've been using LaCie FW (800 & 400) drives for about three years now with only one problem - One of the first drives I bought (I think it was a 120 GB) fried itself a few months ago. I currently have 80GB, 120 GB, 400GB and 500 GB drives, all working fine, never have dropped frames. The LaCie drives are pretty tough too, as I've sent most of them back and forth across the country at least a few times with no problems.
However, be careful if you update the firmware for them - make sure the drive is clean as the firmware update can cause corruption of data on the drive (I found that out the hard way!). Also keep in mind that they do put off a fair amount of heat (especially the big ones) so I wouldn't consider stacking them on top of each other horizontally.
