Firmware 7.4.1  connectivity  issue.

Firmware 7.4.1 connectivity issue.
I am not sure what is causing this
In the upper right menu bar of the Finder there is the icon showing the strength of the Airport wireless signal and just to the right of it is information on how long my Airport Extreme Base Station has been active (2d 11:38:41).
I noticed since I applied the most recent firmware update to the Extreme the information displaying the length that my base station has been active will randomly disappear from my screen for a second.
When I am syncing with Apple TV this becomes more constant and this information disappears from the screen about every three seconds.
While this is happening the bars showing my wireless signal remain on the screen. (I have a good signal with all the bars showing).
This is occurring on My Imac.
I get the exact same symptom on my Macbook Pro with Extreme Base Station information temporarily disappearing from the screen. I don’t sync to Apple TV with this computer so the part about Apple TV does not apply.
Does anybody know what is causing this? Also, when that information on how long my Airport Extreme Base Station has been active (2d 11:38:41) disappears from the screen am I temporarily losing network connectivity?

I too experienced grief after installing Apple's "AirPort Base Station Firmware Update 7.4.1".
My home network consists of the Apple Airport Extreme Base Station (AEBS), a DELL desktop PC (running Windows/XP), my Apple laptop (MacBookPro 15"), and my iPodTouch. The DELL PC is connected via a Ethernet cable into the AEBS. The laptop and iPod connect via wireless with the AEBS.
The DELL PC and Apple laptop were up and running. I installed the firmware update from the DELL PC. It was successful. I worked on both the PC and laptop without any problems. I shutdown both.
The troubles began the next day when I re-booted the PC and laptop. Surprisingly, the PC connected into the network. However, the laptop did not. Repeated "soft" resets of the AEBS failed to resolve the problem. The PC (Airport Utility) software could still talk to the AEBS and reliably displayed it. However, the Apple laptop (Airport Utility) software could not talk to the AEBS (wirelessly). The laptop's Airport (wireless) card appeared to connect into the wireless network but no networking functions worked. The Airport Utility software on the Apple laptop would try but fail to find any AEBS. Sporadically (very infrequently) this software would find it and display its icon but within seconds the it would vanish again.
Another curious symptom was that I noticed the hardcoded IP address for my laptop somehow got changed to a non-sense IP address (I hardcode it and don't rely on DHCP). Another curious symptom was that I noticed that the hardcoded DNS server's IP address was GONE.
After 2+ hours trying to get the new firmware's AEBS to work, I gave up and reverted back to the prior firmware (thank goodness the PC was still talking to the AEBS). After reverting to this earlier firmware, EVERYTHING immediately started working again as far as networking functions.
Does Apple really test this "crap" before they release it?

Reset the TC to factory and start again.
But do not be surprised if the v5 utility no longer works to do the setup.

  • Wireless connection issues

I have read extensively on this problem and it seems others have the same issue, however I will fully document the problem I have here and will also be sending this to apple as a bug report.
I have a Macbook Pro (3.1) running leopard 10.5.4 however these issues have occurred since 10.5.2 from memory, it may have been after an airport update but I wasn't using wireless around the time I updated. The router I have issues with is a Zyxel P660HW-T1, on which I have updated to the latest firmware (which isn't that new). Since an update I cannot connect to the router when using WPA encryption. This includes WPA-PSK and WPA2-PSK, on any wireless channel. The console errors when connecting are:
    Aug 10 12:33:20 Nicks-Mac kernel[0]: AirPort: Link Up on en1
    Aug 10 12:33:27 Nicks-Mac airportd[347]: Error: Apple80211Associate() failed -6
    Aug 10 12:33:27 Nicks-Mac SystemUIServer[135]: Error: airportd MIG failed = -6 ((null)) (port = 55559)
    Aug 10 12:33:27 Nicks-Mac airportd[347]: Error: processcommanddict() failed
Aug 10 12:33:27 Nicks-Mac SystemUIServer[135]: Error joining BroW: Connection timeout (-6 timeout connecting)
When connecting, the menu bar icon appears connected for a short time and then disconnects and the dialog box reports 'Connection Timeout'. Since this problem occurs I have reformatted the computer, reset the PMU and PRAM, and successfully connected to many other wireless networks using encryption. I have tried connecting to the network using windows in boot camp, and it doesn't work there either so the issue is firmware related. There were no issues before the update.
I have successfully connected to the wireless network using many other devices, including windows and linux computers, and windows mobile devices. Interestingly an iPod Touch exhibits the same problem; it used to work and now doesn't.
While I know buying a new router or Zyxel releasing a firmware update would resolve the issue, I feel that because it works with standard PC devices it is apple that should be resolving this problem as they created it. This router was one of the most popular on the store I bought it from here in the UK, and so it should be a fairly big issue. If the problem has been created due to a security hole in the WPA protocol being plugged, or something similar to this, it is understandable. Official word from Apple is needed on this!

    William Kucharski wrote:
You won't get official word here; it's just users here.
I know, I wasn't hoping for official support or in fact any kind of help, I was posting this more as information for other users. I will be submitting it as a bug report in the hope it will be recognised officially. I don't think there is anything I can do that will resolve this.
As far as the connection goes, if it was truly the router at fault it wouldn't be Apple's problem to fix, as Apple codes their drivers to comply with recognized wireless standards and it isn't Apple's responsibility to write their code to accomodate routers that don't.
As I said it would be understandable if this was caused due to a bug fix in the protocol by apple and I would not expect a fix. That's the information I'm hoping for but doubt I will get. Having said this, think about it from the end users point of view. In terms of 'Just works', Mac 0 PC 1.
That having been said, you know from your experience connecting with other routers that it's not a blanket bug, so the next question would be what's different about your network that is causing these connection failures.
One thing to try is to try removing all known networks from your known networks in your Network preference pane, and add them back.
As I said, this is an issue with Apple devices, and seems to be a firmware and not a software issue. I have reformatted and tried connecting in windows, had the same problem with an iPod touch and a Macbook.

  • X1 Carbon (20AX series) wifi connectivity issues

Dear Lenovo Support and all others,
I am posting this in hope that someone can help with my problem and also to share my unpleasant experience with a new Lenovo product.
    Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon
    Model: 20A8A00VSG
    OS: Windows 7 Pro 64bit
    Purchase date: 27th February 2014
Since the first day I purchased the system, I have been having an issue with my wireless connection:
    1. I am unable to reliably get a wireless connection to wireless access points (e.g. free wifi coffee outlets or malls) and personal mobile hotspots (mobile phone hotspots). It constantly says "LIMITED CONNECTIVITY". In other words, I cannot get internet access. Even when it does connect to the network and get internet access, there is a tendency for the connection to drop back to "LIMITED CONNECTIVITY".
The only time I can get a reliable connection is when I am connected to my home wireless router. The system does not seem to have problems on home wifi networks. Since the problem seems limited to wireless access points and hotspots, I believe its a hardware/software problem.
Please note that I have other  wireless devices (laptops and mobile phones) that can connect to the same networks that I am trying to connect to and have no issues.
I have tested the networks with my friends' wireless devices as well and they have no issues accessing the internet so I am fairly certain that there is no issue with the networks themselves.
    2. I have already called in twice and been given advice on both occasions but the problem still persist. I have updated all drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled and updated the BIOS for the system and also performed a system recovery but nothing has worked so far.
I have also tried disabling and/or deleting any anti-virus software and firewalls but it does not fix the problem.
I have also been advised that I need to go down to the Lenovo service center to have my laptop checked out by the technicians and that there MIGHT be a firmware upgrade for the wireless card itself.
NOTE: MIGHT? The support staff doesn't even know for sure whether there is an upgrade available.
    3. Rebooting my computer, the wireless card or the hotspots does not solve the problem. It might work for a shortwhile before it reverts back to it's non working state or stops working again once I reboot the system.
I am really unhappy with the purchase so far. It's actually a good laptop per se when all is working, but without internet access, it is pretty much like a dead fish. And thats 90% of the time.
Like I said, this problem has been happening since day one and I've tolerated it long enough.
I hope someone can help me with this problem.
    Thanks all.
    UPDATE - 3/24/2014
I borrowed an ASUS Wireless USB adapter from a friend and installed it on the laptop. Lo and behold there are no connectivity issues to my iPhone wireless hotspot.
INTEL DUAL BAND WIRELESS AC 7260 - NO CONNECTION/LIMITED ACCESS
ASUS USB N10 WIRELESS ADAPTOR - CONNECTIVITY AND INTERNET ACCESS
I think this narrows it down to the software/hardware in the computer....

    Hi, all
there is an issue bugged driver or even card firmware related. Intel confirmed that. Wait some time for the new release.
For the test purpose only disable 2,4 ghz band support and switch to 5 ghz. N-band seems unstable so switch to G-band. As the Linux users report the same issue it's firmware bug basically.

  • Macbook air Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter connectivity issues

    Hi pple,
Would like to ask if anyone is facing connectivity issues with Mini DisplayPort to VGA?
I am currently using the 2nd Gen Macbook Air with Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB. Sometimes when I connect to a montior (Viewsonic VA1918wm) it works fine, sometimes it just does not work and the laptop just shows me a blue screen.
I tried with out with my friend's Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter, it has the same problem. Does this means that my macbook air mini disoaly port got a problem?
    Thanks
    Bryan

I am experiencing the same kind of problem... only with projectors. Some projectors will display the screen and then others wont even register with the MacBook Air.
Using an Apple Min Displayport to VGA adapter. It's hit or miss if it works. Firmware has been updated on the adapter but this did not help.
    Anyone help with this?
    Thanks,
    Nathan.

  • UML295 and Lenovo X1 connectivity issues

I have a UML295 and I'm attempting to use it with Lenovo's X1 Carbon (Model 20A) and I'm having some serious issues.  Well, my end user is.  After a restart, card is inserted and works perfectly.  I don't need to open up the MBB software, anything.  If I disconnect or just remove the device and wait a few minutes to plug it back in, it doesn't' work.  Indicator light turns green, flickers, etc.  No internet.  I open up the MBB software and shows I'm connected but doesn't go anywhere, or the software doesn't recognize that the card has been inserted.  It displays this behavior on multiple X1 Carbon machines that I have here.  I've tested it on an older T530 Thinkpad and it works as intended.  No need to install the MBB software neither.  As soon as the indicator light turns green, I'm good to go on internet access.
Is there a firmware update or a known issue between these cards and the X1 Carbon?  It's frustrating to our reporters that they can't use their new laptops out in the field.
    Thank you

USB modem devices need both drivers and connection software to facilitate a connection to the VZW network.  I suggest going out and downloading the latest of both from VZW and retesting on your machine.
    UML295 download:
    http://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-72600/
Otherwise the problem that you mentioned here is specifically resolved by use of a Jetpack.  No drivers, no software.  All users need is normal WiFi and they will be able to access the internet just like at any other hotspot.  This was a big advantage for us in addition to the reduced hardware costs of broken USB ports on laptops and USB modems.

  • WRT65GS2 connection issues

i have a wrt54gs2 router, besides factory settings, i have some ports forwarded, i have my xbox 360 in the DMZ zone, wifi is set up without wpa or wep, i use mac address filtering. mixed mode, channel 11.... all other settings are factory, i have the newest firmware version. devices i connect are two xbox 360s, a PS3, a PSP, nintendo wii, an HP photosmart C5180, two computers running windows 7, one computer running windows vista, and one laptop running ubuntu but i doubt any of that is relevant
for some reason after a couple minutes of power cycling the router, i will get HTTP 500 internal server error when i try connecting to it. it happens from any computer i try... after a few hours to a day ill lose all connectivity on all computers including those wired.
ive tried all i could think of and i have no clue why this keeps happening, but its making me quite angry... has anyone else had these issues with any router before?

yeah, i power cycle the router to be able to get into the settings temporarily.. though in about 5 minutes the 500 internal server error pops up.. and this is from the wired PC... i took a screenshot of my port forwarding settings, then held the reset button for 30 seconds.. reset the wireless settings to use WPA2 with a password instead of mac address filtering.... heh, password is now "workdamnit" (dont worry, im pretty sure my router lacks the range for anyone here to connect to it)....
its been two, maybe three hours since i did that last and im able to log into the router settings just fine it seems, so maybe that full reset did the trick... who knows, ill give it till tomorrow, if its still working tomorrow then ill be certain the issue is solved, if not, changing the MTU was my next guess (btw, not sure if this will help to mention, but im using roadrunner cable 15mb internet) and i in no way blame the internet, i KNOW for a fact its the router

  • Updating Media Hub firmware *without* an Internet connection? (+ A few other questions)

    Hi everyone! :-)
I recently purchased an NMH305 in the DSG retail stock clearance, which I am planning on using as a "Black hole" for my audio, video and software collections. Before I begin setting it up though, I need to check on a few things and ask a few questions. :-)
First things first, here's a brief overview of my network and some other stuff:
My network has no connection to the Internet whatsoever. I was previously online with a major UK ISP, but because of numerous connection issues and the fact that a direct connection has negative impacts on my lifestyle, I decided to get rid of it and do without.
Consequently, all of my access to the Internet (E.G: Posting here) is done through local libraries and friends connections.
Most of my systems run Windows XP, but I also have a few Ubuntu, Fedora, and OEM firmware based clients knocking around as well. Windows VII and/or a mass switch-over to Linux may occur in the future.
All network clients are wired up with 100mbps fast ethernet (No wi-fi)
My Media Hub currently has it's 500GB WD Green Caviar installed, but my plan is to replace this with two 500GB 7200rpm Hitachi drives stripped out of USB external caddies for quicker access times, greater peace of mind (I don't really trust Western Digital products) and use the more efficient Caviar as an external HDD insted.
Because I like to keep my systems as "light" as possible; I'd like to skip using the bundled set-up CD (Which'll install a lot of stuff that I don't need) and insted set-up the Media Hub manually using a web browser or terminal connection.
I consider myself to be an experienced and advanced user, and therefore I'm comfortable with the idea of configuring and operating my Media Hub via an SSH or Telnet session.
Downloading, backing-up and restoring Firmware by hand:
Anyhow...The first question I'd like to ask is How can I backup and update the firmware on my media hub using only my local network? I know full well that I can download the firmware images using just a web browser, but I cannot seem to find a direct URL anywhere on the Linksys site. The closest lead I've got so far is http://downloads.linksysbycisco.com/downloads/firmware/NMH_FW_3_18_15_B_ReleaseNotes.txt...But no logical variations of this URL that I've tried (Drop the _ReleaseNotes.txt, try .bin .img .tar .tgz and .tar.gz extensions) have resulted in success. :-(
If anyone has the direct URLs for the firmware images, I'd be most greatful. Failing that, if anyone can tell me the URL that the Media Hub uses to perform a version check (A few packets dumped via WireShark during a check will do) I can follow the HTTP chain from there by hand. :-)
Naturally, I'm assuming that there is a means by which to dump and upload firmware to/from the Media Hub (Via an SSH session, most likely) but if not, would serving the firmware update from one of my own systems (Using a record on my local DNS) work, or does the Media Hub use a secure connection for this?
Operating the Media Hub via SSH/Telnet:
As the Media Hub runs a customised version of Linux, I presume that administration via Telnet and SSH are available. I assume that the default login would be root / admin (I'm assuming the web interface also uses the root account for it's administrative logon) but is that correct...Or would I need different credentials to those for a Telnet/SSH login?
Installing new HDDs: Anything need keeping off the old one?
Finally; As I mentioned above, I'm planning to swap the OEM drive supplied with two others before use. I'm currently leafing through the users manual and am about to come across the procedure given for drive replacement, but given the size of the Media Hub's UI - Which looks to me to be pretty heavily featured - I doubt the whole lot would fit on the Hub's firmware flash...So presumably I'd need to back-up interface data and files from the OEM disk to the new disks first.
Dumping data from one disk to another isn't a problem (dd has become one of my favourite utilities over the past year) but - Thinking from the viewpoint of efficiency - Is it possible to restore the UI data and interface alone (No media lists or cache info - That's better regenerated after) without having to dump the first x sectors from one disk to another?
Also; Given the unit comes with a 5400rpm WD Green Caviar, will the Media Hub's PSU handle two standard 3.5" HDDs (Which could draw about 15-20w each) without problems? :-)
Farewell for now, apologies for the length of this post, and many thanks in advance for any help! >:-)

  • Troubleshoot TC connectivity issues

My Time Capsule has worked great for over two years.  All of the sudden, my MacBook Pro started having connectivity issues.  Eventually (over about two weeks), the issues became a total lack of wi-fi internet in our household.  I disconnected and powered off the modem and the TC.  I even called my ISP (Comcast).  We reset everything and everything else works fine (phone, TV and Internet plugged directly into modem).  I cannot plug my MacBookPro into the modem since I have no ehthernet port.  The light on the TC blinks amber.
Our local computers can access the files stored on the TimeCapsule, but airport utility gave the errors below (see pictures) before the comcast assisted reset. Now the Internet icon shows green in airport utility, but the error on the top icon says "no internet access"  (Or something like that, I am submiting this from memory since I am using the wi-fi at work- and I have NO IDEA why they pics are upside down, they are on my computer right side up).
Please tell me there is an easy fix, or at least one that can be accomplished via a computer that cannot cannect to the internet at the same time as the time capsule.

Your pictures sadly did not load correctly.. I see nothing but a blank square with the file name. You appear to have spaces in the names.. never a good idea. They are photo 1.jpg and photo 2.jpg
    Try again if you want.
A Gen3 TC is now past 3years.. well past if  you bought it early in the life of the Gen3. Oct 2009.
The economic life of most computer equipment is now 3years.
You should at least try a factory reset of the TC.
Before doing this I would also downgrade the TC firmware to 7.6.1 or even 7.5.2. You do this by holding the option key when clicking version.
And redo the setup. No files on the hard disk are lost doing this.
If the computers are using Mavericks.. I do strongly suggest you set names correctly.
Make all names in the TC short, Less than 10 characters is excellent.. no more than 20.
    No spaces.
Pure alphanumeric.. no apostrophe. It is not legal even in Apple network as it is replaced.
Mavericks changed to using SMB networking by default and it leads to all kinds of issues.
But if you have network connection to the TC by wireless but not ethernet from WAN port to the main comcast modem.. the internals of the TC are simply failing.
It is old and tired. Repair is not part of apple's world view.
I have repaired them. And posted instructions but it is well beyond a tinkerer .. this needs fairly committed DIY repair.

  • WRT300N connection issue similarities??

    Hello everyone.
I just bought a 300N router as an upgrade from a linksys B router, before checking these forums and seeing all the issues that everyone else has with them with the wireless connection dropping out.
At the same time as the router purchase, I also upgraded my laptop to windows vista.
I was able to connect to my network with no problems at all. When I shut my computer down, and boot back up, it will not connect to my network, just gives me the "Diagnose?" screen. I am not able to connect to ANY of the networks within range (there are a few). I can try and try and try to reconnect to my network, but it will not connect. Then, if I leave it long enough, it will automatically connect to my network, and all is good.... Until I disconnect again.
Last night was the first time in the week that I had the router, that I actually got dropped from my router. And surprise, I was not able to reconnect to my network.
I also have a macbook, with OSX 10.4.8 on it. I NEVER have any connection problems with this laptop. Connects all the time, everytime, first try, and it stays rock solid connection, even when my vista machine is searching and failing to connect to my router.
I have the latest firmware from linksys, and I also tried tinkering with my radio settings as mentioned in a few other posts, but nothing changes in the connection experience. Even rebooting the router does not help. (Though it appeared to help the very first time I did it, but it may have been just that vista decided to smarten up and connect on its own)
So what I am wondering is how many other people, who are having connection issues with this router, are using windows vista? Anyone have any suggestions before I fire this laptop out the window?
Message Edited by markmac on 04-24-200710:50 AM

well...as the router is working for the MAC computer..i don't think it is a router problem...rather i believe that it should be either the operating system itslef or teh wireless adapter on the laptop....

  • 4S Verizon Network / Internet Connectivity Issues?

I have been having problems with what appears to be Verizon Network/Internet Connectivity issues. I am located in northern Colorado, using an iPhone 4S with a Mophie Air battery backup/case.
I am in a solid 4G area (even though the phone is 3G) and I have not had any problems with any connection issues, until last night. I still see three bars of 3G service on the phone indicator area...so it is decieving.
I can still recieve emails, text messages, and phone calls, but nothing that uses the internet will work.  All apps seem to try to open and try to update, but the whizzy-wheel indicator just sits and spins until I get a "Network Error" message or a time out error of some kind. Most error pop-ups are saying to check the internet settings and try again. Ugh!
Also, since it seems to be trying to recognize the network all the time (even when all tasks are killed and nothing should be running), my battery is going down MUCH faster today! I took it off of the charger at 7am and it was down to 20% battery in only 4 hours! Then I turned on the battery backup, and it is quickly using that up too! At this rate my phone will be completely DEAD by the time I leave work today, and I haven't even used it for anything all day (except to try to connect to the web a few times - testing)!
I have tried the following so far to try to regain internet through the Verizon network, to no avail:
checked for software updates...phone was up to date with iOS 6.0.1
checked my firmware version (it is 3.0.04)
killed all background/running apps (with the home button double-click/hold icon/end)
"reset" my phone via a couple of methods (both the regular power off option and the force-power off option).
*228, option 2 (to reset Roaming)
    cleared all data cache areas/cookies/etc.
    Cellular data is set to "On"; Roaming is set to "On" for all options;
I have a 64GB device (57.3 usable capacity) of which I still show 46.2 available.
WiFi is set to "Off" (although I can use WiFi at home with no problem if I need to, but I shouldn't have to!)
Airplane Mode is set to "Off"; Restrictions are set to "Off"; Bluetooth is set to "Off"
Basically, there is NO REASON my phone should be having connection issues!
    PLEASE HELP?!!

I tried everything you did and more, i thought i had it working, but i got a voicemail today and when i went to open it earlier it just has the wheel loading forever and then says it cant onnect to voicemail. the searching does make it wear down the battery faster as well.  i can get calls, texts etc, but i cant help but think there are a few bugs with the ios 6.01 software

  • Audio Interface Connection Issue

I have recently purchased Native-Instruments' Komplete Audio 6 for production use in Logic Pro 9 and I have been experiencing a connection issue. The USB connection light on the interface itself blinks whenever it is plugged in and my Mac Book Pro Retina cannot detect the device whatsoever. This means, I believe,  that it is receiving power. I have been able to connect the two devices for very short periods of time (maybe 5 minutes) before it disconnects and returns to a blinking pattern sending an error message that the interface returned -2. (Whatever that means)
I have contacted Native-Instruments directly about the issue and they only respond with "update your firmware to the latest version." This would be fine except that the interface has to be connected to run a firmware update. (If that even is the problem) I have also deleted and reinstalled the driver/firmware multiple times.
I have gone through and completed all of the NI's websites troubleshooting guide to no avail and am becoming desperate for answers.
Is there any input that could help me with this endeavor, or perhaps a troubleshoot that I have overlooked?
    thanks.

If you are connecting the Audio 6 (or any other USB2 Audio/Midi device for that matter) via USB to a USB3 port on your Mac.. (which I am assuming you are doing..) try using a Powered USB2 hub.. and connect the Live 6 to that and then connect the Hub to the USB3 port... Make sure you don't connect anything else to the hub.. so the Live 6 gets the max power from the hub...
Using a powered Hub with a USB2 device to connect to a USB3 port on a Mac or PC.. often helps out issues that are caused by the lower power that a USB3 port provides...
Its not a certain fix but often it works...
if it does work, you can then update the firmware which may alleviate the need for the powered hub.

  • WRT610N/2.4GHZ Connection Issues

I have had this router for about a month and a half no problems to speak of.
From one day to the next the the 2.4 side of the router started having connection issues.
It has become extremely slow and unresponsive at times. I have unplugged the router. Did not help.
No configuration changes or environment changes within the house.
I have tried changing some of the options for the 2.4 side of the router. Still having the same issues.
The 5GHz works fine, I have had to switch several computers in the house over to the 5GHz side.
I have the version 1 of the this router and the most current ,firmware 1.00.03 B15.
All the computer on the network are windows based XP to Vista.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Try to do the following changes for 2.4GHz on the router...
Set the Radio Band to Wide-40MHz and change the Wide channel to 9 and Standard Channel to 11-2.462GHz and click on save settings...Under Wireless tab, click on Advance Wireless Settings,Change the Beacon Interval to 75,Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304 Change the RTS Threshold to 2307 and Click on Save Settings... Under Security tab...uncheck  "Filter Anonymous Internet Requests " and click on save settings...

  • Home Hub 3 type a connection issues

I have just recontracted and purchased the HH3, prior I had the HH2
I am having alot of wifi connection issues were I never had with the HH2
My Humax freeview box will not connect automatically and when I try to force it manually, it takes about 4 attempts to connect.
My PS3 connects fine to the PSnetwork but when I play battlefield 3 multiplayer it refuses to connect to EA servers most of the time, occassionally it will connect but then the game is practically unplayable due to lag
I NEVER had any of these issues with my HH2
The HH3 firmware is: Version 4.7.5.1.83.8.57.1.3 (Type A)
I have had this HH connected to the internet for over a week.
I have tried to open some ports for my PS3, but they still show as closed when I check.
Pretty annoyed about this because I thought the HH3 was supposed to be better. Have I wasted my money?

This page should help with port forwarding.

The HH3 is no better, and people do report that they have problems with it.

  • I am having wireless connectivity issues with my time capsule

Over the last 3 days my wireless devices have been having issues with connectivity.
    Network setup:
Modem - Motorola SB5102 Cable Modem
1 TB Time Capsule 802.11n (second generation)
The devices are approximately 3 feet apart.
    Wired Device:
Mac Pro (2008 build) running OSX 10.6.8, Airport Utility 5.6.1
    Wireless Devices:
    Playstation 3
    Macbook Air
    iPhone 5c
    iPhone 4
I am having issues with internet connectivity. The wireless signal strength is fine as all devices can find the network. However when connected to the network accessing the internet on the Macbook Air, or either iPhone is slow and streaming services such as Netflix cannot connect. I have intermitant connectivity to the Playstation Network on the PS3.
I have wired both the Macbook Air and PS3 directly to the Time Capsule and have no issues, internet is accessible and streaming services are fine.
I have power cycled all the devices (Time Capsule, macbook, iphones, PS3, modem) to no result.
I am looking for any other suggestions that may help me with my wireless connectivity issue.

A Gen2 TC is probably on its last gasp.. and it is well overdue for replacement.
If you want to get more life out of it you normally need to repair or replace the internal power supply.. This is not done by apple or any of their repair centres.
Just do ebay search and you will find sellers with replacement supplies.
Otherwise to test, do a full factory reset..
I would also downgrade the firmware.. 7.5.2 will work just as well for you and has less bugs than 7.6.x firmware.
To downgrade hold down the option key when you select firmware version.
    The Factory Reset universal
Unplug your TC/AE. Hold in reset. and power the TC/AE back on..  all without releasing reset and keep holding in for about 10sec. The time is not important.. it is the front LED rapid flashing that indicates you are in factory mode.
    Release reset.
If it doesn’t flash rapidly you have released reset at some point and try again.
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel..  add no more pressure after that.
TC/AE will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations.
No files are deleted on the hard disk.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.
