Firmware 7.6.1 AEBS Power Output Controls

Sir/Ma'am
Seems like some functionality is gone from Firmware 7.6.1.
1.  I used to be able to crank down the power on my AEBS, I cannot find the functionality anywhere on this new iOS-like Airport Utility.
2.  Also, downgrading to another firmware version used to be easy, now, not so much.  Anyone able to assist?
3.  Are these easily correctable by just going back to the old Airport Utility (if yes, where is the best place to find it and is it compatible with the new firmware?)
Thanks
Bill G.

My catch-all list of Airport 6.0 & Firmware 7.6.1 problems:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've compiled a catch-all list of problems and changes with Airport Utility version 6.0 and FW 7.6.1. Some of the items may be relevant to this thread.
THE PROBLEMS WITH AIRPORT UTILITY 6 AND FIRMWARE 7.6.1:
Introduction: If you find AirPort Utility v6.0 too limiting or strange, you can ALSO install AirPort Utility v5.6, released alongside v6.0, to maintain all your previous capabilities. It works fine with both Airport g and n devices.
PLEASE NOTE: According to Apple you must FIRST install Airport Utility v6.0 in order to access and install Firmware upgrade 7.6.1. Do that first. THEN install Airport Utility v5.6 and use it instead if you prefer.
1) According to Apple's documentation, Airport Utility version 6.0 is ONLY for Mac OS X 10.7 Lion. It is NOT for 10.6 Snow Leopard. If you accidentally installed v6, you'll have to dig around in Apple - Support - Downloads for the previous relevant version for your devices and OS version. Here is the relevant page:
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1483
2) The HELP for Airport Utility has been updated. When you first access it you may well be looking at the old Help. It is supposed to update itself spontaneously over the Internet. It took a couple minutes in my case. Be sure you are looking at the NEW Help before you start using it. One way to tell is that the list of help topics essentially doubles from what there used to be. Also, the very first topic in the NEW Help should read:
"Set up an AirPort device > Set up a new AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule"
3) The HELP has some WRONG information. Here we go:
3a) There is NO "Enable Guest Network" setting. You CANNOT create a guest network or name it or give it any settings. Why this is still listed in Help, I have no idea. Why the setting is gone: This is most likely because the technology behind guest networks, WPS, has been thoroughly CRACKED in the wild. Google "WPS cracked" for lots of documentation of the situation. It won't be resolved soon.
3b) I can't find any 'Setup Assistant". Everything is now manual. This is not to say that there isn't a setup assistant that appears when you FIRST set up your Airport device. I don't know.
4) After installing Airport Utility v6.0, there is no indication of the accompanying firmware update until you decide to run the new version. Even then, you have to click on the big icon of your Airport device and notice an 'Update' button about halfway down the popup window. You then have to assume that this button is telling you to update your firmware.
5) After you update your Airport device's firmware, you may well discover an ERROR subwindow popping up inside Airport Utility that says:
"An error occurred while updating the firmware. -6721"
Don't panic! All you need to do is go into your Wi-Fi settings, either in your menubar or the Network preferences, and turn OFF Wi-Fi, then turn ON Wi-Fi again. This is part of a long standing bug in Lion's Wi-Fi with which I bet you are already familiar, certainly up through Lion version 10.7.2.
6) Miscellaneous changes in Airport Utility 6:
6a) The keyboard command to manually change your Airport devices settings is GONE. You have to click the little 'Edit' button after clicking on the big icon for your device.
6b) There is no longer any summary window for your Airport device. You have to instead click on the big "Internet" icon for related data, then click on the big icon for your Airport device for local settings data.
6c) There is no longer any HELP advising users to EXPORT their settings. (The Help only talks about Import of settings). BE SURE TO EXPORT YOUR NEW SETTINGS! I did this immediately after both updates.
6d) MAC address filtering for Airport devices is GONE.
6e) All references to IPV6 anywhere are GONE. I have to assume the IPV6 settings are now entirely working and entirely automatic. Let's hope so.
6f) Signal and Noise data and graphs are GONE. Use Apple's Wi-Fi Diagnostics app instead. Apple have hidden it here in Lion:
/System/Library/CoreServices/W-Fi Diagnostics
6g) In order to access the menu items in Airport Utility, you have to first click on the big icon for your Airport device.
--> No doubt there are other changes, oddities or bugs related to these changes. But this is what I came up with during a cursory strafing of the software.
  • Can setting power output level at 65mw cause a one year old router to fail?
    Recently my router WRT54GS v2.1 that is only one year old but has been in 24/7 service failed and the technician that worked on it said the failure was probably due to the power output level being set at 65mw and other firmware settings ( particulars available ) that had been used but were working fine to provide wireless service. The output was fed to a Smart Amp 500mw power amplifier with Automatic Gain Control then through 30 feet of 400 cable to an Omni-directional 14 dbi antenna. Coincidentally the power amp seemed to fail at the same time. The maximum input to the Smart Amp which has AGC is 23dBm (200mw) max. Is it possible that the firmware configuration and the 65mw setting were responsible for the failure of either or both devices?
    If the ABS and Router/Modem are both giving IP Addresses out, (that's what tells everything on the Network where to send/get stuff to/from), then everything gets confused... a bit like trying to get US Mail delivered when your street has 2 names, and your abode has the same address as other houses on the block!
    You just want the ABS to pass on the IP addies that the Router hands out, and not try to do it itself.
    If your base station is connected to a router or other network device that is using NAT to share a single Internet connection with multiple computers on your network, and you are using DHCP to provide private IP addresses, you need to turn off NAT and DHCP on the AirPort base station.
    Most networks need only one device using NAT and DHCP to provide IP addresses.
    To turn off NAT and DHCP:
    Open AirPort Admin Utility, select your base station, and click Configure.
    Click Network and deselect the "Distribute IP addresses" checkbox.
    If your base station supports Power over Ethernet (PoE), by default the "Distribute IP addresses" checkbox is not selected, and the base station is not using NAT or DHCP.
    With NAT and DHCP turned off, the base station acts as a simple bridge between the wired and wireless computers on the network.
  • How to adjust power output of time capsule
    I was told that the power output of the time capsule is adjustable and that Apple does not ship the units at full power. Is this correct?
    All of them are defaulted to 100%.. and you cannot adjust the actual power output.. You can reduce the wireless in steps of 25%.
    Click on Transmit power.. you are offered.. 10% 25% 50% 75% and 100%. Yet to see anyone set to a lower value.. their wireless output is to be frank.. low.. at the best of time.
    Max wireless output is regulated in different markets.. so each TC is set to a region to ensure it complies to local regs. And you cannot change the region (you can change between a few countries in a region.. like european ones.. but all follow Euro ETSI codes) on a TC .. it is locked into firmware.
  • 10.7.5 output control
    I have recently updated my MAcBook Pro to 10.7.5, and then I has to install the latest EFI firmware. the update was OK, but a after the upgrade i noticed that the sound output control for the built-in speaker is greyed out!
    I have further documented the phenomenon.
    I turned on the computer at 6:20 AM. It was fully cooled down to room temperature. I left it alone, idling on desktop, while I went through my morning routine. I started recording readouts at 7:00 AM in 10 minutes intervals until the CPU fan started to spin up at which point, I reduced the frequency of readouts to 2 minutes.
    The only task the computer have performed is playing video files in QuickTime Player. The files are small and easy to play for this machine (Data rate of only 1.12 Mbit/s). The total load on the CPU never exceeded 6% (including all background processes). This rules out any excessive or out of ordinary activity.
    The data collected shows the fan is perfectly content to idle at 940 rpm until the CPU reaches 59 degree celsius. At which point, the cooling system intervene by spinning up the appropriate fan and spinning up they do and they just don't stop. They showed a steady raise all the way up to just shy of 2400 rpm. It then settles down to 2260 rpm.
    The CPU temperatures dropped several degrees along the way yet the fan kept on spinning up anyway.
    I reiterate that this behaviour is abnormal. It started to behave like that from the exact moment 10.7.5 was installed. I have since installed 10.8.2 but it changed nothing.
  • Changing power output for Airport Extreme Card
    How do you change the power output for the Airport Extreme Card? Is there a program that I can download to change airport's settings or the Airport Extreme Card's settings?
    i.e. If the default power output for the Airport Extreme Card is 18mW, I would like to increase it to 25mW.
    There is no way for a user to control the power output of the AirPort Extreme card.
    Furthermore if the card was manufactured to output 18mW there is no magical way to increase it's physical ability so it can output more power.
  • No Output Controls
    Hi everyone:
    I just picked up a copy of "Logic Studio " and was hoping it'll work with my *Tascam dm-24* Digital Mixer, and my Macbook Pro running under "Leopard" connected through the *IF-FW/DM Firewire Card*.
    Some said it's just a pug & play type of situation and I should be up & running in no time, apparently not! I have the latest software version 1.04 installed and
    still get no out-put selection in *Logics system preferences*, however the input is recognized and works fine.
    Would anyone know what it is that I'm missing out on.
    Thanks in advance, and good bless.
    Thank you so much Erik, I had never seen this article before however the problem is that Macs
    *system preferences* doesn't see the output controls even before Logic is launched.
    could it perhaps be a corrupted Firmware or Driver that's causing this?
  • Weak Power Output - WRT54G v5
    I have recently bought a WRT54G v5. The power output is weak. I can barely get a signal (sometimes no signal) with my router only about 80 feet away, with two walls in the way. The router is set on top of a bookcase near the ceiling and my computer is on top of my desk.
    I believe I can get a better signal if I can increase the power output, but v5 has no third party firmware that can do this. Is there any way I can increase the power output or get rid of VxWorks for Linux?
  • My Bluetooth USB wireless transmitter for my portable speakers has quit working.  Preferences says, "The selected device has no output controls", it used to work just fine.  Can anybody help?
    My Bluetooth USB wireless transmitter for my portable BT speakers has quit working.  Preferences says, "The selected device has no output controls", it used to work just fine.  The internal and a pair of wired external speakers work fine.  Can anybody help?
    Just tested something and it worked.
    If I put the headphones all the way in, the mac recognizes it as a digital output.
    But if i don't put it all the way in, it recognizes it as headphones and works perfectly.
    It's probably this crappy headphones.
    If anyone has the same problem, try this out.
  • Software for Power Switch Control and One Key Recovery for Windows 8?
    Hi. I have recently upgraded to windows 8 with a clean install. I was wondering if there is software to get the power switch control software back so I can set it to auto, turbo or cool because without it I think using the switch is useless. I also would like to know if there is a way to get one key recovery back.
    I can't use the One Key Recovery of my Y2P anymore, as I decreased the size of the C partition in favour of increasing D:\Data
    OKR won't even start anymore...
    Any chance to get OKR working again if I make these partitions the same sizes?
  • VOFM formula on output control based on  item category(PSTYV)
    Hi Gurus,
    I created an Output Control requirement in VOFM.
    In the requirement ABAP codes, may I know how can I access the list of item lines category (looking for vbap-pstyv in particular) while I am creating the sales order in VA01, because the sales order is not saved yet, so I cannot get from table VBAP ?
    Any way to find the variables available ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best Regards,
    Vasumathi
    Edited by: komma vasumathi on Jun 22, 2009 3:26 PM
    Hi there,
    When the sales order is created, all data is stored in the internal tables 1st in USEREXIT_SAVE_DOCUMENT_PREPARE, MV45AV0V_VBAP-PSTYV_VALUES
    in MV45AFZZ.
    So you can refer the fields from there. Item catg is stored in XVBAP table.
    But 1 doubt. Why do you want to trigger the O/p before the order is saved? Usually any O/p is triggered after saving the doc.
    Once the document is saved, data is stored in data base tables & you can refer from them.
    Sivanand
  • Purchase Order Output Control
    Hi,
    I am trying to create an ORDERS05 IDoc when a PO is created and sent to a folder via EDI processing.
    Here are the steps I followed...
    1. Created RFC Destination for EDI Subsystem (TCP/IP connection)
    2. Created File port and included the RFC Destination in the Outbound trigger tab.
    3. Created partner profile (Vendor)
             a. Outbound parameters - message type ORDERS,
                      i. Outbound Options - receiver port - file port created in step 2
                                                    basic type - ORDERS05
                      ii. Message Control - Application - EF
                                                     Message Type - NEU
                                                     Process Code - ME10
    4. Create PO (ME21)
    when I look under Menu Header -> Messages it goes to a printer instead of the File Port I created.
    Am I missing a step? Please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Sneha
    Thanks Kalpanashri,
    I followed what you said and this is what I received...
    Diagnosis
    The system could not locate the EDI partner agreements (outbound) for partner 1002514.
    System response
    You cannot use transmission medium 'EDI' with this partner.
    Procedure
    Maintain the EDI partner agreements for partner 1002514. Make sure to create entries for output control as well as for outbound parameters.</i>
  • Output control and message types
    Hi guys,
    my problem is this:I have created a new message type for output control for Purchase Order but when I create a new PO and click on 'messages'  I expect that the new message type appear as a DEFAULT for example other messages like NEU,etc....
    Customizing is OK--> I have parametrized the tr.NACE in all points and also Message Determination Schemas...What can I do?Is there a way to set message types as a DEFAULT for Output control  in Purchase Order?
    Thanks in advance,10 points for a resolutive answer...
    Bye
    Maximilian
    HI
    I assume that you have created a new message type by cpoying a standard.
    Basic:
    You need to maintain access sequence, form routine, forms.. for this output types (which should not be a problem if you are copying from std.)
    Important:
    You also need to maintain the Fine- tuned control for message type, for  the new output type.
    You need to add your new output type in the output determination schema.
    then the thing should work. try!
  • Output Control Routine for Order Confirmation
    Hi,
    I have a problem in sending out order confirmation when the customer have a credit block, no order confirmation is being sent.
    Checked on transaction NACE, the routine for Order Confirmation (Routine 2), returns a sy-subrc =4
    when  the credit block is set. What is the best way to correct this?
    Thanks,
    Catherine
    Create the new routine in VOFM->Requirement->Output Control. Make the required changes in routine source text and assign it to output procedure (NACE).
    Thank You,
  • Standard script and code for output control ticket in IW32
    Hi,
    I am working on a output control ticket which gets printed using transaction IW32.
    I have to create Z driver program and z form and attach it to shop paper.
    I just wanted to make sure that RIPRCT00 and PM_COMMON are the standard program and form for this output control ticket.
    Because even though if I keep a break point in the program RIPRCT00 to see the data its fetching, when I do the print preview after going in IW32 I don't go inside the standard program RIPRCT00.
    So I am wondering if RIPRCT00 and PM_COMMON are the standard prohgram and form attcahed with output control ticket ?
    You must enter something in the form.  The reason for this is because in the program when it is going to execute the print of the papers, it is call the subroutine(form) of the print program.  It gets these values from your configuration in SPRO.  It is doing something like this.
    perform print_paper in program zriprct00.
    Of course, "print_paper"  and "zriprct00" are variables retrieved from the configuration.
    So, in summary,  In SPRO,  configure the output type to use the PRINT_PAPER form of program "ZRIPRCT00" and the sapscript form ZPM_COMMON.
    If you are developing a completely new "Z" print program, you must have an entry point in which the program is executed.  You will have to have a subroutine(form) very simular to PRINT_PAPER,  or you can just copy and paste that code into your new program.
    Make sense?
  • Message Determination & Output Control
    Hi all,
    What Message Determination & Output Control?
    Why we use them , also what are the configuration steps in same?
    Please guide me alon with transaction codes involved in it?
    Thanks in Advance.
    Komal
    Hi Komal,
    The message determination Process is the process in which you select how you want your output.
    You go to T code "NACE" and can see which Application area is activated for which type. Eg. for PO gernally it is NEU. So you can select from here that which procedure and further which sap script or smart form as well as print driver or program is attached to that and can do amendements if desired.
    Also you can maintain what are the out put detrmination method attached to that like print, email, EDI , fax etc.
    Cheers!!
