Firmware deletes all music on the mic

Ok I've still go the .0.03 firmware running cause I heard people having problems with the newer versions.
So is it true the player formats and deletes all the music when you install new firmware?
That wasn't the case on my Zen Touch I had before the micro.
Just wondering.

I'm fairly certain that it does NOT erase the data on the hard disk. During my troubleshooting of the first Micro I reloaded the firmware several times and I was pleasently surprised the music was still on the player when I was done ( it was still broken but that's a moot point)

I have a new mac and want to sync my phone to the iTunes on it, but it won't let me manually manage without deleting all music on the phone already from another iTunes. is there a way around this?

    The best solution:
iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
Quick answer if you let iTunes manage your music:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Start iTunes with the option (shift on Windows) key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.
An alternative which is really not what you should have to do, or the way it is intended to be done, if you properly manage your computer and backups:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only media purchased from iTunes Store
Sync transfer is one way, computer to device, matching the device content to the content on the computer (except purchased content as mentioned above).  For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will probably have to use third party commercial software unless you have an older model iPod. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

Do not regard your i-device as a reliable unique storage for your media. It is not a backup device and everything is structured around you maintaining your media on a computer which is itself backed up.

  • Songs won't play after I deleted all music from iPhone once

    Hi,
I'm using iTunes Match on my iPhone and think it's cool but I have a problem: When I used iTunes Match for some time, it had downloaded lost of music to the phone and the phones drive was full. I then deleted all music from the phone (via Settings -> General -> Usage). The problem is that the songs still appear as being on the phone but I can't play them anymore. Also I cannot download them from the cloud again as they appear as still being on the device.
Has anyone experienced that as well?
    Marco

What kind of network are you one when you try to download the songs again? Wi Fi or 3G? From your description it sounds like 3G, and by default being able to download over those networks is disabled. To enable it go to Settings > Store and set "use cellular data" to ON.
Also, even though you delete the actual files from your iPhone you will see the track as being available. All tracks not stored locally on your iDevice will have a cloud icon next to them. To see just the tracks that are stored locally go to Settings > Music and set "show all music" to OFF.

  • ITunes deletes all music from CDs from my iPhone

I recently purchased a new iPhone 6. I transferred all my apps, photos, music etc to the new phone and everything appeared fine. However every time I sync the phone with iTunes all of my music that was not purchased through iTunes (e.g. CDs that I imported into iTunes) gets deleted from my phone. However it does not show up as deleted until I try to play it, at which point my phone skips through all the songs showing a red square next to them. I have iTunes set up to sync my entire music library. The only way I know how to get all the songs back is to delete all music from the phone each time I sync with iTunes and let iTunes copy everything back to my phone (and avoid syncing with my PC unless I really have to). Once re-synced everything is fine until I sync the phone with iTunes again at which point all my music other than iTunes purchases are removed from my phone.

I have had the same problem for two months and have tried many different suggestions with no luck. Have you been given any answers from apple?

ive got a laptop from a friend, she cleared everything off it. ive downloaded itunes and for some reason all her music has appeared in the library. How do i delete her music from the itunes libary so i can add my own music?

In iTunes, select the music you want to delete (⌘+a to select all) and hit Delete on your keyboard.
Also delete the music files in Finder. Also make sure you have your own Apple ID and iTunes account and logged in.

  • I want to delete all music not Syncing, iTune want to delete everything

I want to delete all music in my iPhone to gain space as I do not use it for listening music anyway.
My old computer was stolen and now when I plug my iPhone in itune and try syncing ZERO music it say it will erease everything.
I fear it will remove my Apps, apps data, photo and most importantly I fear it will change the order of my icons.
I do not have ticked anything but "Sync music" will it delete all music or EVERYTHING ?
Someone told me I should use WinSCP to delete the file manually,
Any help would be greatly apreciated.

I believe MediMonkey will do that. It requires iTunes to be installed, but you don't need to open iTunes or anything.
    http://www.mediamonkey.com/information/free/
It is free but only available for PC and not for mac.
I used to use it when I had a PC, and I think you can just select all the iPhone music on it and delete it.

  • Media Transfer 1.41 deletes all music files

When i updated media transfer to 1.41 this problem apeared:
it first deletes all music files on the phone before it syncs them.
If i sync one mp3 file it takes 1-2 hours for media sync to first delete all files ant then copy all files to the phone.
(I have over 4gig of music on my memory card.)
I did not have this problem with the 1.4 version.

I have a few comments/bug reports (I have also submitted these through the app).
    BUGS:
    1. The app seems to force conversion of perfectly normal AAC files created in iTunes (.m4a). The files are converted to... AAC!!!
There is no need for this conversion as the files play fine on the phone (N95)
Both files created with iTunes standard ACC settings and with a custom VBR settings are converted.
MP3 files are transferred without conversion.
    2. Bookmarked AAC files (.m4b) are not converted or transferred (they are ignored) - many podcasts use this format and they play fine in iTunes and QuickTime.
(Edit - it seems iTunes and OS X treat these files as protected, even though they are not - also the N95 will not play the files if copied without conversion).
    FEATURE/ENHANCEMENT REQUESTS:
    1. User prefence for caching - I have a 4GB memory card and may not be interested in having everything on it cached on my computer. When using USB2 the connection should be fast enough for viewing/streaming from the phone.
    2. The viewing in the browser is a bit confusing - when e.g. the memory card is selected it shows a lot of different files from different folders (I have TOMTOM maps on the card so a lot of useless files are showing) It would be nice to either be able to select which files are shown, or just make the browser work normally, so it is only showing files in the current folder (selecting the memory card would show the root folder).
    3. Options for conversions (e.g. "Do not convert files with a bitrate below xxx kbps").
I look forward to the next version - if the 2 bugs are fixed this is already a very solid app.
Great to see real OS X support.Message Edited by peter321 on 09-Jun-200707:31 PM

  • Deleted all music in itunes upgrading to 7.0.6.29; how do i get it back?

i recently ugraded itunes 7.0.6.29 and managed to (accidently) delete all music in itunes. i am now having to go into all my music, folder by folder, to import the files back into itunes. 3500 done, 5000 to go. AArrrgh. any ideas how to do it faster? i would like to get the playlists back that i ahve on my ipod but i dare not try to sync it in case it wipes the ipod as well. this idiot would appreciate any help he can get.

If your iPod is set to update automatically you just need to take care connecting to a changed iTunes. You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7.3 or later installed hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys together. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes - Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows
When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that way you can continue to use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it until you can restore your songs and playlists: Managing content manually on iPod
There are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and clone playlists from your iPod. Have a look at this one for instance: iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
You can read reviews and comparisons of more of them here:

You might want a more Mac-centric version of that post which is directed more at Windows users.
iTunes will only give you the option to copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads and including iTunes purchased songs and in some cases, videos and games) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too. There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide

  • How do you delete all music off Ipod when music is faded on computer screen

Having trouble deleting all music off an old iPod. When I try to delete the music playlist is faded not allowing me to delete anything. I would be very grateful if someone could help me within the next few hours.

    Hi obuzz,
Welcome to the Support Communities!  One way to delete all of the music off of your iPod classic is to restore it to factory settings.  The resource below will explain how.
Restoring iPod to factory settings - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201540
Restoring erases the iPod's disk and restores iPod to its original factory condition.
Warning: Because restoring erases all the songs and files on iPod, back up any files you've saved on the iPod disk. All of your songs, videos, podcasts, audiobooks, and games can be loaded back to your iPod provided that you have them stored in your iTunes Library. If you use the Nike + iPod Sport Kit, see  this document for more information.
    How to restore iPod
Verify that you have an active Internet connection, because you may need to download new versions of the iTunes and iPod Software.
Download and install the latest version of iTunes if necessary.
Open iTunes. Connect your iPod to your computer using the USB or FireWire cable that came with your iPod.
After a few moments, your iPod will appear in the Source panel in iTunes.
Select your iPod in the Source panel. You will see information about your iPod appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes window.
    Click Restore.
If you are using a Mac, you will be asked to enter an administrator’s name and password.
A progress bar will appear on the computer screen, indicating that stage one of the restore process has begun. When this stage is done, iTunes will present one of two messages with instructions specific to the iPod model you are restoring.
Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter (typically applies to older iPod models).
Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore (typically applies newer iPod models).
During stage two of the restore process, the iPod displays an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remain connected to the computer or iPod power adapter during this stage.
Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see, because the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
After stage two of the restore process is complete, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear. It will ask you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences, as it did when you connected your iPod for the first time.
I hope this information helps ....

  • Is there a way to delete all events with the same title (not added as reoccurring) without deleting one at a time?

i currently have a calendar synced that has events scheduled in perpetuity, scheduled as individual events.  I would like to delete all events with the same title.  I do not want to delete the entire calendar nor do I want to go into every event and delete individually.  These were not scheduled by me so I do not know how they were added one by one and go on forever but they are NOT scheduled as reoccurring and thus must be modified individually.
I can do a search and find all events, is there a way to just delete all events with the same title all at once?
this is a Microsoft outlook synced calendar and I am seemingly unable to delete the events all at one time from Microsoft as well.
    Please help!

If you still have access to the Outlook calendar in Outlook, I would delete them from there. There are a number of ways to do that, but if you open the individual event in Outlook, does it show a repeating pattern? If not, then you may have to delete them individually, but that is not that difficult either. Go into the calendar and then change the view to a list view. From there you can sort the view according to subject. This should bring all of these same appointments together in the list and you can select the group in Outlook and delete them. Once you do that, you can change your view back and then sync the phone. That will remove the events from the phone.

  • Delete all entries from the following tables - Follow-up Activities (oracle)

    Hello,
I performed a homogeneous system copy of our development BW system with the database (oracle 11.2.0.3) from the BW production system!
I already start the oracle database and the SAP system in the target system/server (development BW system) and I´m doing some follow-up activities. One of this activities is (at the system copy guide 6.2.3.2 Activities at Database Level) is to delete all entries from the following tables:
    DBSTATHORA, DBSTAIHORA, DBSTATIORA, DBSTATTORA
I tried to delete them using SQL Plus:
    sqlplus /nolog
    SQL> connect /as sysdba
    SQL> delete from DBSTATTORA;
    delete from DBSTATTORA
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
... and it show me that error message.
This is strange because when I go to transaction SE14 and check the DBSTATTORA I see that table exist and contain a lot of entries!
Why this is happened in SQL Plus!? I´m running the correct SQL statement for doing this type of task or not?
How can I delete the entries of that tables? Can I do that using the transaction SE14?
    Can you help me please?
    Thank you,
    samid raif

    Hello
    sqlplus /nolog
    SQL> connect /as sysdba
    SQL> delete from DBSTATTORA;
    delete from DBSTATTORA
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
It doesn't surprise me as you are not mentioning the schema name here. Instead it should be
    delete from SAPSR3.DBSTATTORA;
Assuming the schema owner is SAPSR3. if the owner is different then replace that with the correct one.
