Firmware download for my wireless router

When I down load the new firmware for my WRT100 router the file extension is .bin.  When I open up the firmware upgrade instructions they talk about it being a zip file.  Want to know how I can get my new firm ware and in a format that the wireless router firmware upgrade will recognize.

I think what he downloaded was a zip file, with all those release notes text file and the actual bin file, etc. he may need to extract the actual file to obtain the actual firmware file (.bin file).
castownboy, do you know how to extract a zip file?

  • Best place for DSL wireless router to aquire strongest signal

    Hi all
I have a Westell DSL wireless router sitting on a Kensington surge protection base with antennas pointing straight up. Is this ok? My wireless internet connection is ok for now. What's the best place for my wireless router for the strongest possible signal?
    Thanks for your help
    Web dude

Place it clear of HVAC ducting and away from any microwave or cordless phone base stations(s) in the house - these are the primary causes of wifi interference/noise and signal outages. Consider the area you want to cover (including any outdoor areas) and place the unit as near the center as possible.
Download a copy of AP Grapher and observe the signal quality in your intended reception area(s) to help place the router optimally for best signal and lowest noise, including rotating the antennas if needed - vertical is perfectly OK, but you may get marginally better signal or lower noise by rotating them.
AP Grapher can be downloaded from http://www.chimoosoft.com/products/apgrapher/

  • Looking for a wireless router / accespoint with radio time restriction

I am looking for a wireless router / accespoint with a radio time restriction but didn't find any information about this option. Are there any routers with the option to turn off the wireless signal between a specific time?
The router will be used at a small office .
I hope you can tell me more.
    Cheers
    Michel

Well there is No router which linksys/cisco manufacture that can stop the wireless signals to be broadcast for a specific time..
However what you can do is you can get into the setup interface of the router and disable the SSID broadcast and that will stop the router to broadcast the wireless signals...and whenever you need to enable it you can just go back into the setup page of the router and enable the broadcast again.

  • Why do I have to re-enter my password for my wireless router?

I bought my brand new Macbook Pro yesterday and am pretty disappointed.
Can someone please explain in very basic terms, how to keep my Mac connected to the internet? Every time I attempt to connect to the internet, I'm asked to enter my password for my wireless router. I also have a ThinkPad that's also new and it stays connected to the internet and once I entered my password for the router, it's stayed connected and I have never had to enter the password again.
Did I make a mistake buying a Mac? I have time to return it, so any advice is much appreciated.

    Hi phog,
When you're entering the password, are you being sure to check the "remember this network" checkbox that's on the box where you type your password in? If you don't, every time you reconnect to your network, you'll be asked to re-enter it. Also, is this happening only when you restart your machine or wake it from sleep, or is it happening every time you quit your browser and re-open it?
Keep at it! There's a learning curve with any new equipment, but as someone who switched from PCs myself about five years ago, I can tell you that it's worth it.
    Hope that helps!

  • Linksys Easy Link Advisor for WRT310N Wireless Router after upgrading to Windows 7 (64bit)

I can't reinstall Linksys Easy Link Advisor for WRT310N Wireless Router after upgrading to Windows 7 (64bit).  When I went to Linksys site for solution for new drivers, it asked me for Hardware Version Number.  This model doesn't show one.  Any thoughts?
    Thanks!

Sabertooth is right. If you are able to go online from your Router then you don't need to install LELA software on your Computer.

  • How do I install the firmware update for LinkSys E900 router?

    Hi,
I'm using Mac 10.7.5 and a few months back had purchased the E900 wireless router.  It has firmware 1.0.03 installed and I noticed there is a 1.0.04 update.  I downloaded the update, which is a .bin file, but I do not have a CD burner nor access to a Windows machine.  How can I install the firmware update?
    Thanks, - Dave
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Simple, with your wired computer (never wireless) just access the GUI in the router and perform the firmware update.  Just point to the .bin file and away you go.  Make sure to hard reset the router and reconfigure it after you are done.

  • Firmware Updates for Westell 327w Router?

    hi there!
just curious if Verizon ever updates the firmware for the "Westell 327w" wireless router, and if so, where to find it.)
Westell's website just says talk to Verizon about it...
no big deal, just like to keep my stuff up to date.)

The other users that updated the 327W to the new firmware claim that it messed it up. They recommend that you stay with your current firmware right now.

  • Where do I find my WPA key for my wireless router??? (WRT150N)

Ok so I'm trying to setup Xbox live for my Xbox 360. I have the WRT150N wireless router and just got the wireless adapter that plugs into the 360. It said the adapter couldnt pick up the signal then i realized i needed to enter the WPA key from my wireless router. Im only 15 and my dad is on business and im not really tech- savvy. I checked the information on the router and it only gives me the serial number and MAC address. Anyone how I can find out what the WPA key is for the router??

Type 192.168.1.1 on your browsers address bar. Login. And you'll find your security password under Wireless->Wireless Security.

  • Can someone provide a link to the firmware download for Cat65k 67xx series line cards?

I want to check the current firmware releases on Cisco.com for line cards fitted to 6500 series switches. The only images I've been able to locate are those for the supervisor modules.
I cannot locate rommon/firmware images for the 67xx line cards, where are these on the website?

Since receiving the reply yesterday I've had a closer look at this. Attached is an excel file that shows the firmware versions for all the modules fitted.
I see that the same module type has 1 of two firmware versions, surely if this had been downloaded from the supervisor at module boot time then the same version of card would have a consistent firmware version??
E.G. the WS-X6748-SFP modules have either 12.2(14r)S5 or 12.2(18r)S1 in the same chassis.
Can someone explain this in a bit more detail please?

  • Looking for a wireless router

Is there any router that does not have to be connected to a main computer at all times? My roommates and I are looking for something we can essentially just plug in and we could get wireless service in our 2 story apartment.

Basically any wireless router meets this description.  A main computer is only required for initial setup and configuration.
I'm assuming you have wired cable or DSL service - most routers don't do dialup, and sharing dialup like this would be painful.
You do need a cable/DSL modem that has an Ethernet port - unfortunately some only have USB ports.

    Thanks for your replies!
I tried both of your suggestions but neither has worked.
I'm pretty computer-literate so I have a good idea what I'm doing but it's just not working!
Basically, when the list of languages appears on the screen, it's as
if the list is just text instead of links.
The mouse doesn't react to the word "English", or "French" in anyway whatsoever.
Any more help would be hugely appreciated!

  • Looking For Correct Wireless Router For My Needs

I currently own a LinkSys BEFW11SW wireless router that I am ready to replace with a newer model.
At the present time I have a desk top connected via Ethernet cable to the router, an Apple LAPTOP via wireless, a WII via wireless, and a wireless printer.
Going forward, I will have the same connections as I do today, with the addition of optionally connecting my LAPTOP using an Ethernet cable, and connect my HDTV and Blue-ray disc player using Ethernet cables.
I am leaning toward the E2000 router but want to know if I need/require the E3000 router for the HDTV and Blue-ray disc player with those devices being connected using Ethernet cables.
Looking forward to your insight and suggestions.

Anytime E3000 is better than E2000 because E3000 can work on 2.4GHz and 5GHz of frequency simultaneously.
