Firmware File Missing

I have been trying to update my ipod software to the new version (1.2) but when I did I get an error message that says the firmware file could not be found. I then tried to restore the ipod and I get the same error message.
Has anyone else had this problem if so how did you fix it?

follow the steps for firmware file corrupted on the apple site, but delete evrything from the apple software file folder. i did this and my ipod was able to restore after the firware file not found message and my songs transferred to my ipod. good luck

While updating iphone software to 5.0.1, I am getting error that Iphone could not be updated because the firmware file not compatible.

Using iTunes 10.5.2.11 on a PC running 64 bit Windows 7
First did a full back up of  iphone using iTunes
Put iphone into Recovery Mode ( http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808 ). Erases all user data and settings!
    Disconnected USB cable from iphone
Powered off iphone by holding down Sleep/Off button until slider appeared, slid to off, waited until screen dark
Pressed and kept holding Home button while plugging cable back into phone
I still saw the graphic on the iphone that said to plug into iTunes, so I unplugged and re-plugged cable. (I may have released the Home button too soon)
Recovery Mode alert came up in iTunes.
Followed all iTunes prompts to restore phone - it downloaded and sucessfully installed iOS 5.0.1
iphone did not appear in iTunes due to missing pairing file (that made me nervous)
iphone was now at factory settings. I followed prompts on iphone screen to start reactivation process
Eventually the iphone asked if I wanted to restore from a back-up (whew!)
A window opened in iTunes and I was able to select my previous back-up file for the restore
A full restore from back-up then occured
I also allowed a carrier settings update to occur when prompted (not sure that happens in all cases)
When the restore was done I had to re-enter some passwords, but everything was there
iOS is now 5.0.1 (9A406). The whole process took about an hour.

  • Ipod syncing error, file missing on both computers?

We're leaving for Hawaii June 24, so I'm hoping to fix this before then. Yesterday I plugged my ipod in to put some music on, and it froze and lost everything. I restored it, and while manually putting music back on, the message "the ipod 'braxtons ipod' cannot sync. the file is missing" or around those words. This happened after about 400 songs had been put on. So I tried it on my other computer, same thing after a while. The only way to fix this is restore the ipod. I have uninstalled itunes and quicktime, reinstalled on both computers, restored my ipod several times, but it keeps happening. A majority of my music will load onto the ipod, but then it stops syncing and I can't put anything else on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • TS3694 When trying to update or restore my Iphone I get an error message saying...could not be restored because firmware file is not compatible.  What is this and how can it be resolved?

When trying to restore or update my Iphone 4 it errors out with message:..."could not be restored because the firmware file is not compatible."  How do I resolve this?

Ask him if he has 'jailbroken' the ipod touch. Some jailbreaking firmware resets it to Ipad firmware and so it is very difficult to restore as itunes simply doesnt recognise it for what it is. It's Apple's solution to try and stop mass jailbreaking.

  • I received a gift card and when I redeemed it an error message said that I had some itunes files missing and that I needed to reinstall itunes.  Will I still have all my credits when I download itunes?

I received an online gift card for Father's Day.  When I tried to redeem the gift then I received a error message saying I had some itune files missing and I needed to reinstall/download itunes.  Will I still have my previous purchase credits after downloading and reistalling itunes?

You will, because the credited funds are on your iTunes account, not the application. When you reinstall iTunes just configure it with your old iTunes account and your credits will be there waiting for you.

    Try rebuilding your iTunes Library:
(This will cause all devices to see your library as a "new" library)
    1. Open iTunes.
    2. File>LIbrary>Organize Library: Consolidate Files.
-This process may take some time.
    3. Quit iTunes.
    4. Browse to your iTunes Folder.
    5. Drag the files to the desktop, but leave the folders in place (folders will be iTunes Media, Album Artwork, Previous iTunes Libraries)
    6. Open iTunes.
    7. File>Library>Import Playlist.
    8. Direct iTunes to import the "iTunes Library.xml" that is sitting on your desktop.
    9. Once the process is complete attempt to resync your iPod.

  • ITunes 10.6.3 and iPhone 5.1 - firmware file???

I am trying to find my "Personal Hot Spot" on my iPhone 4 so that I can use my new iPad through my personal hot spot.  First of all my iPhone is still on version 4 so I was told to update to version 5.1.  I was also told to update my iTunes to version 10.6.3 which I did.  After backing up my iPhone the next step is to download version 5.1 for my iPhone.  At the end of the download however, I still get something to this effect, "The iPhone could not be updated because the firmware file is not compatible".  What else can I try?  Thanks.

  • IPod cannot update because "firmware file" cannot be found

We have a video iPod with color--30 GB. When I connect to iTunes to update my iPod, it says a newer version of iPod software is available. When I click okay to download update, an error message comes up saying "The iPod "Rachel" could not be updated because the firmware file could not be found. Any suggestions on how to fix this error?

  • After getting my LCD screen repaired, my firmware file is suddenly not compatible

The pixels in my screen were dying so first I took it to the apple store where they told me that either they could do an expensive repair or get a new ipod. So i went to a local phone repair store so they could fix it cheaper than the apple store. When I got it back, there was nothing on my ipod.. so i figured they had just reset it and I would just plug it in and I could get all my music back on. But when I plugged it in, an error message that said "itunes has detected an ipod that appears to be corrupted." and told me it needed to be restored. So when I tried to restore it, another error message came up saying that it couldnt be restored because my firmware file is not compatible. I also noticed that the back of the ipod says it's a 160gb model when my ipod is actually the 120gb model. I was confused so I called the store and they told me they had to replace some parts of mine with another ipod's parts for some reason. My ipod also has a new serial number.. So I took it to the genius bar and they reset it and it seemed to work fine but when I got home and tried to plug it in, i got the same error messages. So I called apple and someone walked me through TONS of solutions, but all of them to no avail because the problem is the hardware on my ipod. Does anyone know what might be wrong with it? If it's unfixable, i believe a certain phone repair shop owes me another ipod.

most likely the repair gave you someone else iPod with jailbreak firmware, that doesn't work,so  get your iPod back from them. Have it repaired at a 3rd Party iPod repair center. Google for it.
