Firmware for Router BEFW11S4

I downloaded the Firmware for this Router (it's last been updated 2004, I'm not sure how much of a difference that makes). When I downloaded it it came as a BIN file. I opened it in my PowerISO and it said it said "The file format is invalid or unsupported." What can I do? Also when I get the proper file downloaded how do I upgrade it and also what might it change? Thanks.

Well try upgrading the firmware of the router & keep on holding tightly
the reset button in such a way that power light is blinking on the
router & then do a complete network power cycle i.e., unplug the power
cables from the modem & from the router & then plug in the power cable
to the modem first once all the lights are solid green you could plug
in the power cable to the router & check out it will definately work!!
Also, the advanced wireless settings to Beacon Interval=50,Frag
thres=2306 & Rts thres=2307 & then uncheck a Block Anonymous Internet
Requests & it will definately work!!!

  • Wireless B Broadband Router (BEFW11S4) connects for only about 5 mins at a time

I have Wireless B Broadband Router (BEFW11S4). Worked fine for about 2 years. I've had a HP Pavilion for about a year now using the wireless and also have a desktop I use on it (wired). About a month ago the speed seemed to be lagging a little and the router was never secured with a password, so I changed that and added a password. Ever since then the laptop will not stay connected for more than about 5 mins. I have gone back and removed the password protect feature, but still have the problem. It has a problem connecting to the router. The signal bars always seem to be full, but still can't connect. I've tryed reseting the router, unpluging everything, etc and can't get it to have a steady connection like before. Sometimes I can connect to the internet even when it says "Not connected" in the wireless network connection 2 screen. I've tried to search and find a similar problem, but was surprised to not be able to find one. Any insight will help.
    Thanks,
    Lman

Thanks for the suggestions Wizzard. Although I did not know what all that stuff does, it didn't seem to help. I didn't not upgrade the firmware because there didn't seem to be any upgrades since 2003, before I bought it. Any other suggestions from anybody? Could anybody make an educated guess to whether it's the router or the laptop?
    Thanks,
    Lman

  • Can't find firmware for BEFW11S4 v2

I'm having trouble finding a firware update for v2 of my BEFW11S4 router. The support page for this model offers a firmware update for v4 only. My current firmware v. is 1.45, which may be the latest version, but I can't seem to find this out anywhere on the Linksys website.
The reason for the update is that my neew iPod 2G won't connect to the internet and I'm guessing an update might help.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

You can Download 740 KB firmware for BEFW11S4 V2 and save it on the dekstop
Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware on the device : -
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on a computer hard wired to the router...
In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1...Leave the Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
Click on the 'Help' tab- Then click on the 'Firmware Upgrade' .... Here click on 'Browse' and browse the .bin firmware file and click on "Upgrade"...
Wait for few seconds until it shows that "Upgrade is successful"  After the firmware upgrade, click on "Reboot" and you will be returned back to the same page OR it will say "Page cannot be displayed".
    Now reset your router :
Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

  • Firmware for BEFW11S4 v.2

Having problems trying to update the Firmware to my router.
    1. The bin file that I downloaded is not recognized by winzip
    - Any suggestions on how to open the Bin File
    2. The second link for firmware upgrade downloads a word document not an actual file
Please provide any help if possible.
    Thanks

sticky_wicket, once more: the .bin file IS the actual firmware file. You download this file from the linksys server and upload it unmodified exactly like it is to the router.
You do not unzip the file.
You do not open the file on the computer with any other application.
    You download it.
Save it to your desktop or some other place.
    You go to http://192.168.1.1/
Go to the Firmware Upgrade function.
You select the downloaded .bin file.
    You click the upgrade button.
    That's it.
Or you follow the instructions which are on the same download page as the latest firmware for the BEFW11S4v2. If you read that document they mention lated that you have to "Enter the location of the .bin file" into the tftp utility. This is the .bin file you have downloaded. However, you have to download the tftp utility separately now, if you insists on using this method.
They used to wrap up the firmware file, the tftp utility and the instructions into a single zip file. They don't do it anymore. The instructions are outdated. There is no zip file anymore. You only download the actual firmware file which used to be in the zip together with the tftp, the instructions, etc.
Download the manual, read you to upload the firmware file through the browser. It is easier and more convenient. It is on page 35 of the user guide.
Do not try to find any application which may be able to open this .bin file. Modifying this file by any application will not work and will most likely damage your router.

  • Trouble downloading firmware for BEFW11S4 v.4

I have a Wireless B Router, BEFW11S4 v.4. I am trying to download the latest firmware and it provides a file names 'befw11s4_v4_v1.52.02_000_FCC_code'. This is a .bin file and I cannot open it or install it as an update.
Linksys instructions state that it should be a zip file but there is no zip file or exe file to download.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

updateing the firmware can default any settings you may have had.
look at your settings and see if they have changed or are still the same.

  • Wireless-B Broadband Router(BEFW11S4) Problem

I bought a Wireless-B Broadband Router(BEFW11S4) from someone but it didn't came with the CD is there another way to install it like a driver or something like that

There is no "driver" for your router.  Your router has firmware that resides on a flash memory chip in the router.  Check your router to see which version of the router you have.  This should be listed on the bottom of the router, near the serial number.
    To setup your router:
First, download the User Guide from the Linksys web site:
    http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Content_C1&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1115416835852&...
Next, reset the router to factory defaults (see the User Guide for directions).
Then go to Linksys.com > Support > Technical Support > EasyLink Home Networking Tools > then use EasyLink Connect to configure your router.

  • How to install firmware for the WRT54G

I have downloaded the newest firmware for this router, but the file is a .bin. There is no .cue, .iso or other file associated with it. How do I open this file, or burn it?
I tried creating a .cue file using a .txt text editor:
    FILE "WRT54Gv5v6_v1.02.2_fw.bin" BINARY
    TRACK 01 MODE1/2352
    INDEX 01 00:00:00,
    and renamed it WRT54Gv5v6_v1.02.2_fw.cue
Roxio's Creator Classic will burn it to a CD, but when I try to load it by inserting the disk, the disk is blank - but shown as 100% used in raw format.
Any suggestions? Why would Linksys provide this firmware in this truly complicated format?

You point your browser at http://192.168.1.1/ This is the LAN IP address of the router inside your LAN. You can connect to this address when you are connected to the router. You don't need internet for that.
The router came with a firmware preinstalled. Without the firmware the router is just a piece of junk. The configuration program on the CD only sends settings to the working and operating router, i.e. a router which is running its firmware. You can update the firmware by uploading a new firmware file to the router. But there was no firmware on the CD nor was it installed anywhere during initial setup. The router came with a firmware otherwise you could not use it.
Just go to http://192.168.1.1/ and click on the Administration tab. The firmware upgrade function is somewhere on a subtab. You'll see a browse button with which you select the firmware file you downloaded before. Once you press the Upgrade button (please only do it if you really want to upgrade the firmware!) the browser sends the selected firmware file to the router where it will be installed after the router reboots itself.
There is no point installing it from a CD as you only have to transfer the file to the router. Burning it to a CD only to load it from the CD does not make a different. As you have mentioned it does not make a difference where the firmware file is. Only as you have to download it anyway and then just transfer it to the router there is no point in burning it on a CD. You upload it to the router and that's it. Afterwards you delete the file because you don't need it anymore and you can download the latest firmware from linksys.
When you write "DSL, cable and even VoIP modems" upgrading using any OS, did you ever do it? How exactly did you do it? Are you sure there is an updater for MacOS? Linux? Solaris? ... I think most modems will do it in a similar fashion using a browser upload.
I don't understand what the problem is with this kind of firmware upgrade for you. It works very well and is often used. Many devices have browser interfaces nowadays and thus it is only natural you do the firmware upgrades the same way. The router can be upgraded using tftp as well. However, there are a few pitfalls with this method and often you'll need a command line prompt to run it. But these are the only possibilities to send the firmware file to the router and somehow you have to get it there.

Purchased the WRT54G week ago, looked for latest firmware (just wanted to have the latest one). Looked on linksys, couldn't find the firmware for version 5.1 (i saw the version of the router on the sticker on the bottom underneath the Linksys logo, it says model no: WRT54G V 5.1). Do i have to use another firmware type instead of searching for the 5.1 ?

the version 5 firmware will work with the version 5.1

Are you sure that TV is connected to internet properly?
How did you connect it? LAN / WLan stick (TOSHIBA Dual Band WLAN-Adapter WLM-20U2)?
In some cases it could be possible that some routers dont pass the firmware update due to locked ports. In such case you should check your router configuration. As additional option you could try to test the TV in connection with another network

  • 3750X iOS license required for routed ports

    Hi all,
I've been tasked with installing our new Internet router. I have a stand-alone WS-C3750-24P-L with LAN base. I need a routed port to establish connection with our ISP. I've purchased IP Base licensing and applied it, and copied the ipbase iOS to flash, but I get "Error: hardware not supported by firmware. Try loading never software instead." on boot.
Is my process faulty? Am I not understanding the requirements necessary for routed ports? Or do I simply need a newer iOS version? I'm using 122-58.SE1.
Sorry for the basic question, and thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
    Len

Are you sure that you loaded the right IOS (hopefully you didn't upgrade your switch with an iOS ... )? In the title you write about an 3750X, but in the text you mention a (to my knowledge non-existent) non-X model. Please show the exact filename that you downloaded and also a "show version".
And the 3750-X with IPBase supports routed ports.
