Firmware for WRT54GS with Speedbooster

I have version 1.5 apparantly by looking into my router.  When I look for a download for it I can not find it on this website.  So I tried downloading version 1's firmware upgrade and then I read the readme file and it says to look for a file that ends in .rmt    That file isn't in there.  There's another rather large file in there but that won't upgrade the router, it keeps saying "upgrade failed".  That file is a bin file, and it doesn't work.  What do I do to upgrade this router?

I downloaded the Easylink Firmware tool. To upgrade the firmware, I was prompted to plug the ethernet cable (from the back of my wired computer) into the laptop itself, with the other end already in "port 1". Well, the router never recognized the ethernet cable in port 1, so when i clicked to proceed forward, the router was not recognized, nothing happened, and I have the same problem. I vaguely remember now when I first got the router, I went through the necessary steps with the router and the PC, did everything fine. Then I just started up my laptop, it recognized the network created on my PC, and I just used the internet on my laptop that way. However I have always received the following message when starting up my laptop: "Duplicate name exists on the network". I usually just X out of it, and proceed forward. So my question is, did the actions listed above create my current problem? Why isn't my router recognizing the ethernet cable plugged into it from the laptop? Also, is there any way to test if the issues stems with my network adapter in my laptop???

Since buying a windows 7 PC, my WRT54G V6 is dropping connection a lot more than it should (1/hr).  Because of this i thought to update the firmware.  I have downloaded the new .bin and accessed 192.168.1.1, but when i try to move to the ADMINISTRATION page all i get is ascii chars and no admin page, the only pages that actually work are the basic setup and DDNS setup.  For info i'm currently running Firmware Version: v1.00.9
Asked for help online and got as far as downloading Tftp,0, but that onlyworks to the point where it tells me ''unable to get responses from the servers''
can anyone help or do i just get a new router ???
    Thanks in advance, les

Try to upgrade the router's firmware using TFTP utility..Download the TFTP utility and save it on the desktop. Also Download the firmware for WRT54G v6 and save it on the desktop.
Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware on the device : -
Double click the TFTP.exe file and click run.
For Server- Enter the IP Address of the router that you assigned.  By default, the router is 192.168.1.1...
For Password- Enter the password you assigned the router. By default, the router’s password is “admin”.
For File- Click the triple “…” button and browse for the .bin firmware file...

Once the Upgrade is done press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...
**Make sure your modem is connected to the router on internet port and the computer on the ethernet port of the router while you run the TFTP program.

  • WRT54GS with SpeedBooster MAJOR ISSUES!

I purchased and used a Linksys WRT54GS Wireless-G Broadband Router with SpeedBooster back in January of 2006 for my small apartment in Manhattan. My roommate and I had no problems with the router at the time, and we were happy with its performance. I left Manhattan last April, and moved into a home in Boston. I left my roommate our router, and purchased the same model router for my home in Boston. I use both a desktop PC and windows laptop in my new home. I have had problems with my WRT54GS speedbooster router from the start. Mainly, an inconsistent connection. I find myself unplugging and replugging the router 3 - 4 times a week to reconnect my internet connection regarding my desktop. As if that weren't enough, I have had major headaches with the internet connection on my wifi laptop. My laptop is 2 years old, running on a G network, and often times I will either have no or limited connection in my bedroom where I do work on my laptop (my bedroom is probably 30/40 feet away from where the router sits, on a higher floor). I've read numerous gripes online, whether it be an article or customer reviews, regarding this specific model router and consumer issues with it. Can anybody help? I really am on the verge of purchasing a non-Linksys G router with hopes to have a CONSISTENT internet connection. Thanks.

  • Can't Find Firmware for WRT54G V5.1

Purchased the WRT54G week ago, looked for latest firmware (just wanted to have the latest one). Looked on linksys, couldn't find the firmware for version 5.1 (i saw the version of the router on the sticker on the bottom underneath the Linksys logo, it says model no: WRT54G V 5.1). Do i have to use another firmware type instead of searching for the 5.1 ?

the version 5 firmware will work with the version 5.1

  • Can NOT download v4.21.1 Firmware for WRT54G v4

There is something wrong with the Linksys download site.
Can someone confirm this by trying to download that specific firmware?
    http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Content_C1&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1115416835852&...
When trying to download the latest firmware for my WRT54G v4, I get nothing but an empty .zip folder (0 bytes).
I also get some sort of server error while attempting to download the "version info".
I have tried three different browsers to be sure.
Hmmm....I just successfully 'test' downloaded other firmware versions, so I know it's got to be the link for this particular firmware I need.
    When will this be fixed?
Or, where else can I get Linksys v 4.21.1 firmware for my WRT54G v4?
    Thanks

Download the firmware file for the WRT54Gv3. v3 and v4 are compatible. v5 and later use a different kernel. If you select v3 in the downloads you download the file "WRT54GV4.0_4.21.1_US_code.zip" which is the same filename you would get for the v4. I guess it is just a configuration error on the server which breaks the links for the v4...

  • New Firmware for WRT54G ver6 Posted

Saw new firmware posted on the download page for wrt54g ver6 dated 7/2/07, the new version is 1.02.2  good luck people.

I get "Bandwidth value is out of range 64--10000" when enabling QoS. When I set to Upstream Bandwidth to Manual, the problem goes away. But when I switch back to Auto, I am able to save the settings initially. But when I try again, the problem comes back.
Wonder what's wrong... this is no issue with firmware 1.00.9.

  • Upgrade Firmware for WRT54GS V.6

I am new to the wireless world and just purchased the WRT54GS V.6 router and it says I have downloads for this firmware. I have copied so many instructions I don't know where to start first. Can someone give me some advise as to what to do? Thanks for any information!!!

Hi, you seem to know the way around the router, so I hope you help me. I downloaded  the new firmware for v6. and installed it. It call my attention the fact that the firmware started to load slowly, saying that it will restart, and about 40% it congratulate me for the work done, but no restart and after I restarted manually, no wireless!!! Any idea? from the first Easy Link I got a configuration on a pen flash drive, and everytime I restart, I use it, but it is not automatic like it used to be on my older router. Besides the fact that I have to have the computer wired to get it wireless, which is absurd. Thanks if you can help

  • Latest Firmware for WRT54GS 5.1

    Hello
I have a WRT54GS 5.1, when connecting to the router it states that the current firmware version is 1.52.2.
I want to be able to use VPN client (Mac OS X VPN Tracker) with this router. I heard that some Linksys Routers (god knows why) mess up VPN connections. I was hopeing that a firmware upgrade would fix it.
The latest version of firmware I can find on the site for the WRT54GS 5.1 is version 1.50, which seems to be older than what the current version of the router is.
Any ideas on what to do?
    Cheers
    Jake

You can use the firmware on the website ... also you can go to ftp.linksys.com/pub/network ..... to check the firmware of the wireless router .....
Any firmware upgrade will not mess-up with VPN connection .... however you need to reset the router after upgrade .....

  • New Firmware for WRT54G v5

    Guys,
If you're still having problems with your v5 router, Linksys has just recently released the latest firmware which is version 1.00.9. You can download the file on the link given below.

I'm using version 1.02.8 but currently trying to hack the router to use DD-WRT or Open WRT for a project. Every time I try to upload the firmware the router says  "Bad Archive". I tried with via Ethernet and with a TFTP client but neither of them worked. Any suggestions or ideas?
    My router is a Linksys WRT54g v5.

  • WRT54GS with SpeedBooster random internet disconnects

Hi all I'm new to the forums,
I have an issue with the WRT54GS router i bought a few days ago, my 2 desktop computers are wired connected, where as my laptop, xbox 360 and wii are wireless.  Everything is connected correctly and the internet works, but at random times (from 10min - 1hr) the internet disconnects on me.  I had to turn off the router and turn it back on to get the internet back, then again at random times it disconnects on me again and i have to repeat the process over again.  Is there anyway to fix this? I've downloaded the latest firmware drivers from this site, V6 i think.  Plz help me! i want to play xbox live without this

Hi… Reduce the MTU on this router to 1365. If you have DSL and you have configured PPPoE connection then make sure that you have selected “Keep Alive” option. For Xbox you need to assign a static IP on it and forward the ports 88 and 3074 for its IP address.
