Firmware issue 3GS with iOS5
When update my 3GS to iOS 5 it stalled and now my iPhone will not work. attempted to restore be stalls on "restoring iphone firmware" using windows xp sp3 itunes 10.5. Then attempted to do the same on a seperate pc, running windows 7 uptodate and itunes 10.5 and still stalls.
Any ideas?
Booked an appointment at genius bar and they replaced my 3GS free of charge even though it was out of warrenty due to the firmware had caused the fault

I updated my iphone 3GS to IOS5. After the update, the bluetooth (handsfree) connection to my car (Lexus RX350) does not work anymore. I can connect any other cell phone bluetooth to my car. Only iphone after the IOS5 update is failing. Any suggestions (I reset many times)?
Some people havent had one problem when updating to iOS4, others have been over run with problems. I myself have lost virtually all sound from my loud speaker so calls, txt messages and ipod are virtually unheard now..
Went to my local Genius bar in Liverpool today, complete waste of time, the guy restored it like I hadnt already done that a 100 times, then said oh yeah it is qeit not heard of that one before, to get a new one will cost you £139!!
Yeah right mate, not payin that as its not my fault! did ask him if he ever looks on the Apple forum about faults people are having, and I got a blank look. Told him a thread with tens of thousands people all having the same problem with low sound from the speakers and calls being ended in mid conversation since updating to OS4 seems a bit strange then... another blank look!
Ive lost all faith with apple as a company now and will not be upgrading to a iPhone 4 anytime soon or any apple product, no one seems interested in helping but quick enough to take your money, thats my opinion anyway..

After updating my iPhone 3gs with ios 5, my BMW usb interface no longer works. I can no longer see my music on the screen and cannot control my music. I tried my old Nano in my car and that works so I'm thinking it must be something with ios 5. Any suggestions?
Update: I was able to resolve the problem by re-syncing the music on my iPhone in iTunes and then shutting down the phone and restarting it. After that, I connected the usb cable from my car to the phone and it worked.

IPod voice controls broken on 3GS with iOS5
After upgrading to iOS 5, the music voice controls on my 3GS stopped functioning completely, i.e. voice commands such as "play playlist...", "play songs by...", "play album...". All of this worked well before and now only results in a "No match found". Dialing voice controls work just as well as before the upgrade.
Does anyone else have that problem? It seems to me as if the voice control simply does not realize that the music is there... Is there some way to "re-synch" the music library on the iPhone with the voice control, or something similar?A friend on 4G couldn't activate voice recognition after the IOS5 upgrade (although my phone worked fine) - it kept saying "no match found". After playing around with the settings, we tried reversing the display order of the contacts (last, first / first, last), and voila - voice recognition worked again!
The great I.T. fix-all works wonders: "Have you tried turning it off and on again". I recommend giving the contact list swap a try (by the way, we then put it back to it's original settings and it worked fine) to see if it resets your voice control. -
Contacts on 3GS with iOS5 is just not working
There is no "+" sign in contacts nor is there any ability to edit a contact in the new iOS 5 software on my 3GS. This is really an outrage! Can someone at apple get us an answer on this!!!
well, this is kind of rude. It seems a lot of people are having this problem when updating the software on the 3GS. i have the same problem on my 4 , i updated and my contacts crashes whenever i try to look at a specific contact, or merge contacts with icloud. the only fix known at the moment is a soft reset, just hold down the home and close buttons until the apple sign shows up, release and then it may solve the problem.

How do I import the video or isn't it possible?
I've tried with itunes, imovie, iphoto and image capture, but my phone only shows up as a device in itunes.
Anybody got any ideas?You can't do videos with Photo Stream, so you're saying that neither iPhoto or Image capture see your phone as a camera, correct? In your iPhone camera roll, do you have both pics & videos, or just videos? If you have pics in the camera roll, were they all shot using the phone's camera, or were any saved from emails or web sites?

Just Updated iPhone 3GS to iOS5, Can't receive any incoming calls at all
Hi, I just updated my phone to iOS5 and now, I'm having these troubles.
- Can't receive any incoming calls at all
- The incoming calls directly goes to voice mail greeting
- No incoming rings & no missed calls alerts
- Also noticed the incoming text with 4 to 5 hours delays
- Sometimes 3G network get lost
The reception (status bar) is good level, can make outgoing calls okay and can send text okay.
I did try reset the network setting and it seems working a few hours then went back to troubles (mentioned above).
I've done 3 or 4 times reset but none have been resolved yet.
Anyone having a same issues?

Sorry, I haven't a clue. However, in "pairing" phones, I've found that it's not a perfect science and most of the time, if I keep making an attempt, my phone does pair. Today, I finally got around to pairing my new 4S with my Ford Flex. Same story, the first 3 or 4 attempts crashed. Then for some unknown reason, doing the same procedure, the phone did pair with my Flex.

I've noticed that there appears to be serious keyboard lag with iOS5 on the 3Gs 16GB model that I have.
Anyone else?I just update to iOS 5 few days ago, well, the new features were just fantastic, but I found a lag problem with my iPhone4, yes, it was LAG. Major LAG
here are some cases：
1. lag when scrolling（such as in address book or other pages with long contents)
2. lag when opening a folder or closing a folder
3. all game sthat once played well are now like a 16 bit movie.
the issue seems just like a computer in high CPU usage or with low memory, and sometimes it made me a little bit freak out. And want to shut the phone down.
After I cleared all the histories and cookies and caches and closed all background APPs, the issue remained,,,
There was no problem when my iPhone 4 was iOS 4.1 and previous versions.
and my iOS 4.2.1 works fine inside the APPs,,,

Happy on Leopard, hangs on sleep with Tiger: Firmware issue?
I have an early 2005 G5 dual 2.0 that I bought new. It has 2.5GB of RAM and two drives: a 1TB and a just-recently-reinstalled original 160 GB drive.
I've updated it through the years and recently it's been running Leopard 10.5.8 on the 1TB drive.
I've just replaced it with a Mac Pro as my main machine, and wanted to set up the G5 to run Classic apps, so installed the original 160GB drive, wiped it clean with Drive Genius, and did an erase and install from my original 10.4 CD, followed by a bunch of Software Update runs to get it to 10.4.11.
Trouble is, when booted in 10.4.11, every time it sleeps, the fans go into high gear and the system hangs, so I have to press the power button to shut it down.
I cleaned off the disk and reinstalled.
I zapped the PRAM/NVRAM.
I booted in Open Firmware and did a reset.
I disconnected the 10.5 disk.
I ran Apple Hardware Test.
I disconnected all cables and pressed the PMU/SMU reset button.
Had a very nervous day when reconnecting the power cord gave me a solid power LED and a non-operational power button, until I got brave and reset the PMU again with the power cord plugged in (against Apple advice, but some folks said it worked). That got me booted again.
Ran through several cycles of circle-with-bar gray screen boots, hang with loud fan boots, safe boots, etc.
None of these steps indicated anything unusual or stopped the loud fan/dark screen/hang under 10.4.11.
I'm now at the point where the machine boots fine, sleeps fine, and is generally happy as a clam when booted on my tried-and-true 10.5.8 disk, but does the loud fan/dark screen/hang when booted under 10.4.11, most consistently around sleep time, but sometimes just trying to boot.
Other possible useful debugging info:
Right now, the only things plugged in are Ethernet, Apple Keyboard, Apple Mighty Mouse, and VGA monitor with DVI adapter.
Internal speaker no longer works, but headphone jack does.
I did try during this process to get my old Thrustmaster ADB joystick running via a Griffin iMate, but those experiments are on hold until I get the base system stable.
Most posts about similar behaviors (for example, http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2444469&start=0&tstart=0) point to a hardware issue, but that doesn't make sense to me because there aren't any issues under 10.5.8.
My current thinking is that it may possibly be a firmware issue, that I have a version installed that requires 10.5.x and is not compatible with 10.4.x. System Profiler lists
Boot ROM Version: 5.2.4f1
However, I can't find much info about this version.
Even if I found a 10.4-friendly Firmware Update, I'm not sure the machine would let me install an older version.
So, does my thinking seem sound, or are there other avenues I should pursue?No PCI cards other than stock video card.
No 3rd party kexts running. Just a fresh install of 10.4, then everything Software Update fed me to get to 10.4.11.
Safe boot does not change the behavior.
I ran several more experiments and have some more results to share.
Booting from the Tiger disk reliably caused the machine to become unresponsive when going into sleep mode, after which the fans would go to full speed after a couple of minutes. Occasionally, upon power down and power up, I'd get the gray screen with the circle/slash graphic. Powering down and powering up would then result in a successful reboot.
Booting from the Leopard disk would not cause the machine to hang when going in to sleep. However, I did notice that the machine wasn't really sleeping, either. The screen would blank, but I never heard hard disks park (the option to "put hard disks to sleep when possible" is checked in the Energy Saver System Preference), and the case fans continued spinning at low (normal) speed. Wake up took no time at all and made no sound except from the monitor. It may not be sleeping, but at least it's not crashing, either.
Perhaps there really is a hardware issue, and Leopard is handling it more gracefully than Tiger. Unfortunately, Apple Hardware Test isn't finding it, and I see nothing indicated in the logs.
It's less than ideal, but unless I find a solution, I may just put the machine in never sleep mode to keep it from crashing. -
My iPhone 4s will not charge in car or truck. It would appear after research that this is a software issue with ios5. Will there ever be a patch to correct this infuriating problem?!!!
Mine charges just fine, as does everyone's iPhone 4S that I know. Apple even sells a number of car chargers that are certified to work:

Perhaps there is a problem with your charger or the outlet you're using in your car/truck. -
Didnt read the issues with iOS5 until i've updated my iPhone 4. Restored 3 times and it is still locked in a loop of - Apple logo, loading, and a flash of "...restore successful...few steps away..." and buzz. Please help
At the end of a Restore, you will be asked if you want the current iPhone to be synched as a New iPhone or use the current iPhone's settings. Selecting the former since to have solved the messaging problem. If u have done back-up of the "old" iPhone on iTunes, then your New iPhone will be the "old" iPhone too after synching with iTunes :)

yes there is a sign on the top of the screen that shows phone is LOCKED....may be that is why the phone didn't recognizing the sim...i think first i need to unlock it again then hopefully phone wil start working again ..but i dont know HOW TO UNLOCK ???...need help from u guys with this .

No, downgrading from any version of iOS to an earlier version is not supported.

Sometimes I think I don't get told about a message until I unlock my phone and when I do I get a notification and a text tone as I unlock and it can be off a conversation I was having 10/15 minutes ago.

My IMac, using OS X 10.6.6, works well and quickly - until I use Firefox. Almost every command I give leads to a freeze that lasts from a few seconds to a couple of minutes - sometimes with and sometimes without the whirling beachball. This is true n
