Firmware Management and Deleting Images/Packages

I was trying to delete some older firmware packages and was wondering if anyone had an easier way to remove the associated images. If you simply remove a package and the image is still there you get all sorts of Major warnings (image-deleted).
It would be much easier if you delete an old package ie. ucs-k9-bundle-b-series.2.0.4b.B.bin that is automatically deletes it's related Image so these errors don't appear, especially if you have upgraded a few times.

Thanks

Removing packages will reclaim space, and can only be done, if there are no more any references to images !
Exactly, I want to first remove the references so I can then delete the older packages. If not, I am left with annoying error messages referring to the deleted package...

  • How do I select and delete images in Numbers?

    Hi,
I need to delete some images in a previous saved numbers spreadsheet.
I cannot select any image individually, if I click on one cell all images are un-selected automatically.
After pressing ESC and then Cmd+A I'm able to select all images in the spreadsheet but I don´t know
how can I select an image and delete it?
This simple process is getting really frustrating.
    Any help/hint is welcome!
    Thanks in advance.

If you pasted the image into a cell.  select the cell, then open the cell formatter.  Change the cell background fill to "No Fill":

  • Managing and editing image and video files on the go

I am looking for the best solution to store, manage and edit pictures and videos taken with external devices (DSLR camera and GoPro primarily) using my iPad as an interface and not requiring a computer.  I was initially thinking that some sort of portable hard drive was the ticket, however, the Apple Lightning to SD reader might be an option as well.  In any case, I don't want to use my iPad for storage, but only to access files from the storage medium.  Here are the requirements I am looking for:
Ability to view and manage (including delete) the files from the storage device using my iPad
No requirement to load or sync the files onto the iPad to be able to view and delete the files
Easily be able to select and transfer specific files to my iPad to work with and publish
Ability to export edited files from my iPad back to the storage medium once I am done working with it (I could work around this one if necessary)
Whatever I end up with should be small enough to easily pack and transport when I am travelling
What would the best device be for me?
I have looked at the new Hyperdrive iUSBport HD as one possibliity, but I am not very familiar with their devices.  I guess my other option is to buy several SD cards and use the Apple Lightning to SD reader, but I'm not certain it will accomplish everything I am after.  Especially in the later case I would really need to be able to view and delete files (video in particular) that I do not want.  Any advice on the above devices or other devices that I should look at?
    Thanks,
    Matt

  • Irritating UI "bugs" when renaming and deleting images

I have been using iPhoto for a couple of years now, and there are some minor glitches in the UI that simply frustrates the **** out of me in the new '08 version. Perhaps it's due to "wrong" usage, so please tell me if I can avoid them:
Firstly, I'm often viewing and comparing my images in fullscreen when cleaning up a large batch of vacation photos, but when I apple+backspc. to delete an image, it jumps to the start of the Event instead of showing me the image before/after the one I deleted - WHY!? This is only in fullscreen view - if I space-view it goes to the next picture as expected?
Secondly, there is apparently no shortcut for renaming an image, when viewing the thumbnails in an event or album. Numeric enter doesn't work (as ie. in iTunes), neither does (Windows) F2 or anything I could think of at least. Is there a shortcut that I just missed - please tell me!
This could seem rather minor, but my library counts 5800+ images, and I spend literally days in this program when I'm sorting new Events, so if these issues could be addressed either by an update or if I just need to know some little trick, I would be a much happier customer.
    Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
when I apple+backspc. to delete an image, it jumps to the start of the Event
Yes, that's a bug that's been reported before. Report it at http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html as the more reports the more likely it will come to the attention of the developers.
As far as renaming or titling in the thumbnail mode, you have to first click on the title so the title field is activated. Then you can enter any title you'd like.
You can also batch title files by using the Photos->Batch Change->Title menu option. This will rename them all the same or add a sequential number to the end of the title.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Backup and Delete Images

Hi, I have MacBook Pro with 5 years of family photos and videos on it. I've backed up to a WD My Book Studio external drive. I can acces the external drive and see my photos, videos and files.
Since my MacBook is getting old and slowing down I'm thinking I should remove all the old images and that would help it's performance.  Feeling a little nervous about deleting such a large file of important stuff.
    Is my thinking correct?

Consider using a regular backup program, or plugin like TreeSyncPublisher which will assure backups are deleted along with sources.
If you really want no junk in Lr's 2nd copy storage, then delete everything there (or maybe just the older stuff), after making such "true" (synchronizing) backups.

  • GMAIL and 10.8 (how to manage, and delete)

So, I happily (?) configured my brand new iMac 10.8 to my gmail account ----- and theb  some 40,000 past gmail emails filled my mail box.
    Ugg
I guess I don't know too much about gmail or mail.
SO: Q:  I would wish that when I DELETE an email on my iMac Mail (gmail account) program,  it also deletes it from our friends at the Gmail Server farm (or, better yet, have it deleted there some 30 days later, in case I change my mind).
Been to Gmail site, can't fiture that out.
    Ideas?

Well, perhaps I am not synchronized
What happened was that when I knew I was going to change MACs, I deleted MOST of my gmail emails from the prev. computer, and then saved the MAIL folder and put on a separate Hdrive to use later.
(I haven't done anything with that archived mail folder YET, but wish to merge or add it to the new mac).
Anyway, when I set up new Mac i set up the gmail  email account (it had an easy walk-thought step by step) .....and the 30,000 emails downloaded.  Including those I deleted a few days earlier.

  • PNG images revive deleted images in the form of a thumbnail, potential risk

Saving a PNG image will revive deleted photos. To replicate this, save a PNG image, such as the ones on XKCD's "What If?", and deleted images get revived in the form of a thumbnail overlapping the image.
This has been here since IOS 5, according to http://appleinsider.com/articles/13/11/14/bug-resurrects-deleted-image-thumbnail s-in-ios-7-photos-app-dates-back-to-ios-5
Knowledge of this could be abused. If I get free acess to someone else's Ipad, I can just spam saving PNG images over and over to see their sensitive images saved as a thumbnail overlapping the PNG image's thumbnail.
How do I delete the thumbnails? It seems that when you delete a photo, it saves the thumbnail. This is supported by the PNG images reviving deleted photos in the form of thumbnails.

  • SAP Restart to Delete SQL Packages

I am starting this discussion on behalf of a client:
Especially the "veterans" of AS/400 remember, that in the beginning of SAP on AS/400 it was often necessary to stop the SAP instance and delete the SQL packages in order to overcome database errors that usually showed up as SQL -901 errors. This way of "fixing" SQL -901 became like a habit, so that support employees often recommended to stop the SAP instance and delete SQL packages when a simple restart of the failing work process would have fixed the problem. Later we recommended to use profile parameter rdisp/wp_auto_restart to restart work processes automatically once a day (for example), and that seemed to have solved the problem. However, my client is not quite convinced that this works and does not want to "play" with the production system. They are using an ECC 6.0 system with a 10 TB database and about 4000 active users.
Question to this group: Do you have systems with a similary size that run several weeks (or even months) without interruption for deleting SQL packages? If so, do you use profile parameter rdisp/wp_auto_restart, and what value is configured? Also "negative" answers are welcome, i.e. if you have the experience that the SQL packages must be deleted on a regular base for the sytem to work properly, please let us know, too.
Thanks a lot for your cooperation.
    Kind regards,
    Christian Bartels.

    Hi Christian and Jim,
Our production database is 8 TB with 3400 named users (1,000 or so concurrent).  We still are "old school" and delete the SQL packs during normal maintenance twice a month (either two or three week interval). I know we have gone longer if we were having a lot of go-lives but I don't think it has happened since we upgraded to ECC 6.0.
We did have some SQL pack issues a while ago but it turned out to be they were reaching the maximum size for table IBSYMBOL. Since then we set the QAQQINI value "SQL_INCREASE_PKG_LIMIT = *YES " which doubled the allowable size to 1GB I believe. We still were reaching the max and we ended up inserting a profile parameter.
    "dbs/db4/dbsl_tablehint0         =           Table = 'IBSYMBOL' & nMarkers > 100 ? SingleExecutionReuse"
Credits - Steve Tlusty of IBM came up with the fix
During that round of fun, Steve also had us adjust the following parameters -
    rdisp/noptime                        =             605800
    rdisp/wp_auto_restart          =             604800
Note - even though we are at 6.1.1 now, the adjustments were made on 4.7x200 while running under V5R4 so I don't know if they are still required.
    Have I rambled too long?

  • IPhoto 08 exclamation points due to referenced photos.  Have reverted back to Managed, trashed problem images, and want to rebuild library or create new library.  However, Originals folder contains aliases of deleted images.

    1. Will broken images in Originals folder hinder making a backup copy, rebuild, or other attempts at repair?  I have Time Machine, never used it, and don't know when when iPhoto became referenced library (due to bad advice)  2. Is it OK to delete broken aliases from the Originals folder (white squares with arrows, jpeg tags, and a Quicktime logo)?  3. Would it make sense to select undamaged images in the Orginals folder for copying to a new library?  I am cleaning up Events and exporting healthy photos from iPhoto before trying to copy the entire iphoto library folder.  Thanks for your help.

What do you mean by "broken images"?
Never delete anything from the Originals folder, ever.
    Try
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Every time I right click on an image and select Download image Firefox crashes . I have reinstalled; uninstalled and deleted folders and then reinstalled; added

Every time I right click on an image and select Download image Firefox crashes . I have reinstalled; uninstalled and deleted folders and then reinstalled; added no plugins; checked I can DL the same images in IE-works good.I use Win7 pro and it works in other profiles in Windows 7. I created a new profile in Windows and that worked for about 2 months and now that has gone the same way as my admin profile has done. I deleted the sqlite download file-still same prob..Please help. I use Firefox 13.0.1

    That sounds very frustrating.
By the way, does it say "Download image" or "Save Image As"? Just checking whether you have an add-on downloader in the mix that might be relevant. If you do have an add-on, try using the built-in command.
Do you also crash if you save from here:
right-click page > View Page Info > Media tab > (select image) > Save As
I assume you have seen this article and tried these things: [[What to do if you can't download or save files]].
Have you tried the new Reset feature in Firefox 13? This duplicates certain key data from your active settings folder into a new one, bypassing some add-ons and custom settings. Your plugins will still be active, but could be disabled manually if you like.
More information in this article: [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]].
If the new settings folder has the same problem, you can switch back if you like using Firefox's Profile Manager.
    Does it make any difference?

  • Resource manager and images being rewritten in the project root

    Hi everybody,
I began using the Resource Manager, and I created two folders, one with HTML files (topics), and another one with pictures present in those topics.
As I transferred the topics to the HTML shared folder the pictures references remained the old ones, i.e. the ones inside the project folder, right?
Therefore I began reassigning the pictures to the ones copied in the pictures shared folder, and here begins to be a little bit illogical and difficult.
I deleted the pictures from the original project folder as I want to save the space and have, of course, the pictures only in the shared folder, however after I reassign the pictures to one of the topics, and I sync it, the pictures I deleted appear in the root folder of the project.
I wanted to have the "common" pictures (they appear in 2 different projects) only in the shared folder (declared as pictures folder in Resource Manager) because if I do a modification of one picture, I would like to have this modification propagated in the second project, right?
And also save some space, as it does not make any sense to me to have the same pictures in 2 places (double space consumed) when I can have them in only one folder.
I would like to know how I can avoid this recopying of the picture files in my project folder, if possible.
    The procedure I used was:
    1. Found out which are the common topics for the 2 projects and copied them in the Resource Manager shared folder for HTML files.
    2. Found out which pictures were on those topics and copied them in the Resource Manger shared folder for pictures
    3. I included the shared topics into the project, and reassigned the pictures to the ones that are in the Resource Manager shared pictures folder
    4. I saved the topic, and did a sync in the Resource Manger
Did I do something wrong here?
    Thank you.

The repository has all the images you may want to use in any of your projects or elsewhere.
Each time you link in a project, that image only is copied to the project, not the whole repository. If either copy changes, you are notified. You then have the choice of updating the out of date copy or breaking the link because for some reason you now want the difference.
Your statement "I saw that if I use an external directory to the actual project where I have pictures, RoboHelp will copy those into the project's folder" is not correct. The Resource pod will show all the images available in the repository but only the ones in used in the project are copied locally.

  • Finding and deleting unused images

There's got to be an easy way to find all the unused image

again image capture is not involved with deleting photos from iPhoto in any way ever
the paid version of iPhoto Library Manager is very good for finding duplicates as is Duplicate Annihilator
And I have no idea who told you this - or what it means - but re-read both of my opening statements
I was told I could delete multpiles thru image capture by transferring my iPhoto library etc
