Can I test a firmware before installing it on my phone? Or can I flash firmwares on Symbian Emulator?

Nouveau driver not starting - Direct firmware load failed error -2

Hi all,
I am trying to install Arch Linux for the first time, on a laptop.
I have followed Arch Linux Forums step by step, and now I am trying to set up a graphical environment with Gnome 3.
I then went through both the xorg page and Nouveau page, and installed the nouveau driver.
But on booting, the driver seems to fail to load, and I get the following from the dmesg log (and also mixed up with my login prompt in the console at startup):

Is it possible that it tries to reach an external screen (on the hdmi output) ? I would simply like to use it on the direct monitor of my laptop, though.

How to update firmware with a Mac?

As a Mac user I use Windows under BootCamp, although NSU may also work under a Windows emulator I personally would not be happy doing this.
I presume that there is no NCP within a reasonable distance to carry out software update for you?

7610 Emulator for NetBeans 4.1 w/ mobility pack?

Does anybody know where I can find a 7610 emulator that integrates with the NetBeans 4.1 mobility pack? The one I found on forum.nokia is not considered a valid emulator according to NetBeans.

The S60 SDK is for S60 fp 2 or 3, the 7610 is S60 fp 1. I've talked to a Nokia rep at the Nokia support center and he recommended upgrading the firmware. Hopefully I get around doing so in the next week.

the upgrade through CLI is too complicated compared with the same process done through the GUI. If you have access through CLI, can you tell me what is the version of firmware running on the FI?
Also, what is the specific error you receive when you try to connect through the GUI? Could provide an screenshot of it?

Superdrive Install on Sawtooth ~~ Firmware Problems?

Installing a brandy spankin new Pioneer DVR-112D into my Sawtooth AGP G4 after the stock opti-drive quit. Got the drive "installed" physically, but OSX doesn't recognize it or any discs in it. Been googling for hours with no answer so I turn here. Yes, plugs and connections are correct, pretty comp savvy, but don't know too much about MAC firmware and hardware compatabilities/configurations. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Hi, sorry to be responding so late. I have been busy, weeping that the next OS
won't run on my G4 digital audio system, which is a shame! I was going to get a nice processor upgrade for it, but it seems that the powerpc is finished! Anyway, while I have you still here, is there a way to get a multi-EIDE cable to replace the optical cable in the G4 powermac Digital Audio? In other words, daisy chaining the drives on the same ATA bus? In more lament terms - running my 16x BenQ super-drive on the EIDE cable like my hard drives? Also, what real world difference would I notice with the pioneer 112D superdrive versus what I have now?
And another thing, I am aware that by today's standards a 133mhz system bus is slow, but compared to where I was with a Pentium III 1ghz processor on a BE6-II intel P3 logic board, I can tell you that ever since I have gotten the DA mac, I have not experienced any sort of bottlenecks as to what others here are describing.
The only reason, REAL reason why I would run the next OS is because of TIME MACHINE which is similar to System restore in windows xp. I would have no intentions on running microsoft's OS on my mac if I got a mac pro.
For my daily use, I use my mac mainly for everyday tasks. I don't use it for photography, video editing, music compression, video compression + rendering. In other words: I don't use PROCESSOR INTENSIVE PROGRAMS. However, I like to be on the edge with an EXPANDABLE machine and not something similar to an Imac or a Mac Mini.
Could you then recommend to me a nice mac pro which would suit my needs if I don't use any of the processor intensive programs? I do burn dvd's and cd's, I listen on occasion to itunes, and do play 1980's games and some 90's type games. I primarily use macmess or mame to play arcade classics and old computer games through emulation such as through TI-99/4A, Commodore 64/128 etc..
sorry for the long post, just upset. Upset that Apple is not going to support the PowerPC anymore and that the next OS won't work on my machine. Hmm, it may not even work on the MDD machine I am getting over the weekend for 400 dollars.

Win7 x64 booting natively via EFI (no bios emulation)?

Hi, has anyone got Win7 x64 booting natively via EFI without bios emulation or know of any resources elsewhere that discuss this? I understand it would have to be on an independent GUID partitioned HD... so not using bootcamp... ruling out all but Mac Pro's I suppose.
Any insights would be helpful.

Thanks... there are three kinds of Windows installs possible...
1. Using Bootcamp
2. Not using Bootcamp but still relying on BIOS emulation
3. Not using Bootcamp and not relying on BIOS emulation
The last one can only be accomplished with Win7 x64 or Vista SP1 x64 as they are apparently able to boot natively with EFI... no bios emulation required. However, they will obviously work as well with bios emulation.
As far as I kno Jowie's technique is to address #2... a Win 7 install without Bootcamp... but with BIOS emulation.
All Jowie has to say about #3 is at the end of his blog link...

Ms-8340s cdrw CR40-A2 Firmware

when I follow the instructions to update the firmware I get the message that it cannot find the cdrw drive. I am running the update on the dos emulator of windows xp. Any suggestiions?

thanks for that - I did try a dos boot disk prepared from windows xp but it would not recognise the c drive to let me run the software. Since then I have found using nero that my drive is already at v120 so I do not need to update .
My main problem was in unreliable drive operation and I followed another posting that suggested to disable the native xp cd write capability, and now everything works fine.

An emulator for windows software

I need to run a simple windows software program on my Macbook running 10.6.4
I have just looked at crossover and also at iemulator.
It appears that crossover does not require the installation of Windows software. Am I reading that correctly?
iemulator does require windows, but it has the added advantage of working on all my Macs including a non-intel Mac.
I don't anticipate needing this for many applications, but I would like to have something that is simple.
Have you found any solution that might work for me?

Your MacBook and your Mac Mini if it has at least 4 USB ports on rear can both use the VMWare, Parallels, VirtualBox, and Boot Camp. These programs are known as virtualization engines. These are not to be confused with emulators. Emulators emulate hardware. An Intel Mac does not need CPU or GPU hardware to be emulated, and only needs the firmware that is more commonly known to PCs to be given to the environment in question.
Crossover does not require Windows installation, but does require an Intel Mac such as your MacBook or a 4 plus USB port Mac Mini. Its application support though is nowhere near as great as actually having a full fledged virtualization software. You can check its website to find out which application support it does have.
Before you get any virtualization, WINE, or Emulator software, ask yourself what applications made for Windows you need to read their documents on a Mac? Maybe there is a Mac public domain software that can read the same documents.

Too many errors after upgrading the firmware to 1.0.3.10 on Cisco RV180W wireless router

My company purchased one Cisco RV180W wireless router few days ago and it worked normal with default firmware version of 1.0.0.30. Today I upgraded the firmware to version 1.0.3.10, the users can still access this router via wired and wireless devices, but on the dashboard I observed two major problems, one is the CPU utilization always shows 100%, another is the more and more errors appearing, on the Syslog Summary panel "Error" log has been up to 625 and is still increasing, there is one message repeatedly displaying in the log, see in below:

Who can tell me what does this error message mean and how to elinate this error message ? also how to deal with 100% CPU utilization ?

i have been looking at different VPN routers over the last few weeks and i was very close to buying the RV180W, but then i stumbled across many posts reffering to firmware issues, one issue is that the cpu sits at 100% useage, i just wondered if this is a bug in GUI or is the CPU actually max'd out? has anyone had any resolution into this?
also the firmware on the emulator is a newer version than is listed on the support page, does anyone know when 1.0.3.14 will be released for download?
when i buy a new product i like to ensure that the system is fully upto date before its put into use but i obviously dont want to add any performance issues from the ofset due to the CPU useage.
i also have a could of questions if anyone can help
the Ipsec VPN, will this work with the Built-in VPN client for apple devices? (New IOS7), i am unable to find a quickvpn application for apple IOS.
is the site-to-site IPSec VPN also compatible with the Cisco Wvrs4400n router?

Emulator 3.3 Install Failed

Installing the latest Azure 2.4 SDK goes ok but the Storage Emulator 3.3 failed with the following. Anyone else have the issue....any ideas??

I have the same problem. There are no files in the directory to delete or move. I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice. Restarted several times. Use both powershell and command prompt. Nothing works. I am running a fully patched version of Windows 8.1
on a Surface Pro 3 with latest firmware updates. I have Visual Studio 2013 update 4. I am an administrator on my machine. I have run all the script commands with administrator rights. It fails on install. It fails on a "init" command
line. I can't seem to find out how to fix this issue. It is stopping me from debugging a complex Azure project where we are testing Service Bus with our unit test fixtures.

Down-date Firmware possible ?

my Touch 2G originally had Firmware 2.1 und I updates directly to 2.2
A bought app wont work and I imagine its an issue with 2.2.
Can I reset to Firmware 2.1 ?
I tried to restore in iTunes by holding down the alt key and selected the restore file
"ipod 2.1_2.2 xxx restore.ipsw".
But at the end, I had all installed and synchronized, but again Firmware 2.2
Did I make something wrong?

Unlike the shift from OS 9 to OS 10... Software from the era OS 7.5 - 9.2 should all run on OS 9.2 (i.e. PowerPC - RISC)The previous software (i.e. 680x0 processors) is much much older (pre-1994 off the top of my head) - that should mostly work under emulation.
