FIRMWARE PROBLEM - ONCE & FOR

Right, I have tried every solution and still I can't work my **bleep** Zen 20GB player.
I have tried every option on the recovery menu, and still as I turn my MP3 player on, "firmware problem" still shows up. Everything was alright with my player this morning, until the message randomly popped up.
Please just give me a solution! And I don't want a link, I want a stonecold answer.

You have to reload the firmware. Download it from the creative site for your region+player and start the update while the Zen is connected. If your player has trouble connecting, then read the following:
DM wrote: First thing to do is make sure you have Windows Media Player 0 installed, and you have Service Pack or 2 for Windows XP. Download the following 3 hotfixes:
Windows Media Format 9.5 Runtime: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;8922
DRM performance fix:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;902344
Fix for large data transfers: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;89536
Once that is downloaded and installed open up Device Manager and find the player. Update the drivers for it and choose the option to scan via Windows Update (not sure the exact wording). Once that is done, delete all your USB Controllers listed in Device Manager and restart your computer. Reconnect the player when its finished readding the devices you deleted. Run the firmware update program again and see if it works this time...
It helped my Zen Vision: M reload the firmware.

  • [nForce] Lets solve this 1394 problem once and for all.

    Hi guys,
For the past 3months I have been trying to connect my Panasonic GS150 to my comuter in order to use Avid dvxpress pro. I have the problem of when I connect the camera to the computer, nothing happens. I also have this problem with my Ipod, however testing various different devices with the computer produces a strange outcome. Various different cameras work, xp pops up witha found new hardware device (like it should). Its very strange.
I started to think it was my system. I changed my onboard firewire to a pci card, same solution. So then, i reinstalled windows, same outcome. So i bought a new motherboard nforce2 platinum and to my total amazment, same problem. If was after i had totally failed in finding the solution that i started to look elsewhere on the net for anyone who knows the answer. It seems to be a VIA firewire chipset problem. Every post of people who had similiar problems where looking for the answer but NOONE has solved it, ive come across about 1000 posts with no reply's. Its a problem that thousands have but not many people ever use ther're firewire ports so they dont they've got the problem.
I really dont know what the problem is anymore, is it windows, is it certain 1394 devices, or is it the Via chipset. I havent a clue, so if anyone wants to attempt to solve this problem once and forall they will be the hero of about 3000 potential customers...
    Anyone?
    Jon.

Yes thats correct.   Regardless of the hardware, and various 1394 devices are recognised. I've bought a 4pin to 4pin cable which i will test with different devices to see if they are consistent with a 6pin to 4pin cable, it may be a power issue. Not sure what chip on pci card, heres the info from website.
    - Three external 6-pin FireWire ports
    - Interoperable with existing, as well as older, 1394 consumer electronics and peripheral products
    - Complies with OHCI requirements
    - Compliant with IEEE 1394a-2000 standard
    - Isochronous transfer support (guaranteed bandwidth) for DV video data transfer from Camcorder to PC
    - Provides three fully compliant cable ports, each supporting 400Mbits/sec, 200Mbits/sec and 100Mbits/sec traffic
    - Plug and Play & Hot-Swappable for all ports
    - Power overload and protection failure on each port
    - PCI bus master with PCI 2.2 Bus specification

  • Solution for "Firmware problem" Zen Touch with Media Player 11 and Windows XP

Hello,?I like to share this information about my troubles with updating my Zen Touch. At first my Media Player would not detect my Zen Touch. As I hoped the update of the firmware would solve my problem I started a firmware update. Unfortunatly it went wrong as a result the Zen unit did not boot anymore an gave a "Firmware problem". Due to this problem I could not reinstall the firmware as Windows XP did not detect my Zen. I was ready to trow the unit out of the window when I found this solution. And it really worked for me. I hope it wil solve your problems too. And many thanks to DG?http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...6280245AAiPliB?Best Answer - Chosen by Asker
I had the same problem. You don't have to call Creative. You don't have to spend any money. Here's how I fixed it:
    1. If you have Windows Media Player uninstall it and reboot
    2. Uninstall the WMP Runtime format from add/remove programs ( you may have to check the "show updates" box) and reboot
    3. With the Zen Touch connected, go to Device Manager and uninstall it and then unplug the USB cable.
    4. Uninstall ALL Creative software including the Zen drivers and then Reboot
    5. From Device Manager, uninstall ALL USB root hubs and reboot
    6. Plug in the Zen and wait for windows to detect it. In my case windows showed it as "Creative Zen" and then changed it to "MTP Device."
    7. Run the firmware update again. It should go ahead and update now.
You can reinstall WMP if you want after this. Be sure to get the latest version from microsoft's website.
    Hope this hel

  • Zen Vision:M - firmware problem

    Hello!
I'm having some trouble with my Zen Vison:M 30 GB (I'm using Windows Vista 32-bit with SP2). After resetting the player I got the message "Firmware problem". The player displays this message until the battery is empty and if I reset the player once again it takes approximately 5 minutes "rebuilding libraries"(at least that's what I think it's called in English)?and then the "Firmware problem" is back.
Well, then I downloaded the MP3 recovery tool from Creative. After recharging the battery the recovery tool recognizes my Zen, downloads the firmware and... tells me that the player is not longer connected (it is actually).
Does anyone know how I can update my firmware or reboot the player? Any help would?be appreciated!!

It would be best to update the firmware on the XP computer. If you have WMP on the Xp computer you will need to rollack to WMP0 for the firmware file to see the player & update it.http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...ionofthePlayer Emailing Creative will? tell you to come here & you already are hereMessage Edited by coachop94 on 07-20-2009 03:29 AM

  • If you are having firmware problems, enter h

Ok, if you are having firmware problems, like you can do nothing to your mp3 (in my case Zen Vision: M) or you're stuck in recovery mode because you erased your firmware and now you pc isn't recognizing your mp3 and you can't upgrade you firmware, don't worry, I got trought all of it and my Zen is now working =D I had to do a lot of things in order not to loose my mp3, and one of those things was reinstalling my windows xp =/... took me 2 or 3 days to install everything again and put the whole pc in order, but once it was finally done, I was able to upgrade my firmware, so if you are having this kind of issue, you can reinstall you operational system and it'll go back, at last came back with me But before reinstalling it, here a few things you can do: try to reinstall you USB drives, and when I say reinstall I really meant it! Fully unnistall it, get your motherboard cd drive and install it again, before downloading any upgrade for your USB, try it as it comes from the cd, if it doesn't work, then upgrade your USB drive. Since I had to reinstall everything from my computer, that includes that I had to reinstall SP and SP2, so if reinstalling USB doesn't work, you can also unnistall SP and SP2 and see if that can work, although is pretty hard and annoying to do it, if you really like you MP3 and if you don't want to waste more money on it, I highly advise you to do it. So after you reinstall SP, SP2 and USB and your mp3 is still coming up with firmware error, DON'T WORRY! Go to creative.com, look for support, download, and check for firmware download, they have firmware upgrades, mine goes for the name of Creative ZEN Vision:M 30 GB Firmware .62.02, at http://us.creative.com/support/downl...type=4&x=8&y=9 If still none of these settings worked for you, then you can reinstall your operational system, having in mind that althought it was very simple for me (yeah, I know something about computer and I've reinstalled my XP a ton of times), it can get some people into trouble and it can damage your HD if you have no clue on what you're doing. If that's your case, call someone you trust to do it. You can also find some tutorials at the internet teaching you on how to do it. I hope this can help all of you that had the same problem as I did Anything else I can do for you, just ask.YoursMonttanha

My player is currently stuck in recovery mode. My player isn't supported by the mp3 recovery tool offered on this site. I have been thru 3 micros because of the jack problem. On my 4th episode I finally had a friend that works in computer welding fix the jack for me. It has worked flawlessly for .5 years now until I had this recovery mode freeze happen. I was hoping I would be able to get it going thru the help of Creative or some of the Gurus on this site. Well, I have given up. So, I thought I would go and check out some of the players similar to mine and order a new one. Well I was going to check out a 6 Gig player and they want $250 for it. The new 80 Gig Zune is $250. Not to bring up another player but to me, that is a no brainer. I don't really have any use for a player that big but for the money and what you get compared to what they are offering here, Creative isn't leaving me too much choice. My wife still has a Micro Photo but I guess it will be time for me to step up and try something different. I really like staying loyal, but Creative isn't really giving me any competitive choices to do so. I would like to say thanks to all the nice people on this site. I really appreciate all of the information on here.

  • Creative Zen micro: "Firmware Problem&qu

hey, i have a Creative zen micro (orange, 6gb but i think it doesent matters"), but when i turn it on, it says "Firmware problem".
and it goes to the menu (think is called Recovery menu) and it shows:
    Creative Zen Micro V0.0.65
    1.Clean Up
    2.Format all
    3.Reload frimware
    4.Reboot
now creative tells me to download a new firmware.
    i did.
    then to "RELOAD FIRMWARE"
and click on the upgrade, but then it says that there is no player connected, and my compuer does recognize it.
is there any way to fix this or is my zen busted?

I had a simalar problem with my Zen xtra, if it failed durng a firmware update and its stuck in recue mode try this:
Remove all creative software and drivers from your P.C
remove windows media player and media player runtime ( from control panel/add/remove programs - if you have them listed there) you should see it go through a rollbackl procedure to an earlier version of wiondows media player.
Downlaod the latest firmware for your player
    Re-boot/re start your P.C
Go to the creative support website, and download the plays for sure software suite
    listed as:
<i>. Creative MediaSource Plugin for PlaysForSure devices (version .00.8)3.98 MB 28 Apr 05 </i>
install the software by clicking on it.
RE-boot your P.C, with your player conected via USB
once your P.C re-starts, go to the location where the firmware was downloaded to and get ready to start the upgrade
Copnnect your player to its charger ( unless it charges via USB)
On your player slect the reload OS option in the rescue menu
When prompted by your player start the firmware update on your PC.
<i>with the Zen xtra firmware you had/need to select the language option in the update on the P.C when the p[layer displays the 'update over USB' message.</i>

  • Zen Vision M Firmware Problem!!! Can't deal with this thing any more...

Can't deal with this thing any more...3 Hello friends I'm new in the forum
Well as the title mentions, I'm about to throw this thing oute of the window!!!
    It's a 30 GB Zen Vision M, I own it ,5 years now...
I have read all the relevant posts in the forum about this player, I tried my best, nothing really worked.....
So now I have a Zen which only boots in the recovery mode!!
I have Cleaned it Up, Formated it, and tried to reload its firmware BUT when I connect it and try to reload it, in the end it always says Firmware Upgrade Failed!!Really can't understand it!!!!!
I've communicated with Creative, i wasn't at all satisfied with their responses... I think what they're trying to do is to avoid me, and earn some time with really useless suggestions which I had already told them won't work!!!So in the end they wanted me to send my Zen in Italy and pay more than 100 Euros for what an ,5 year old mp3 player? No I prefer buying a new Cowon with that amount of money!!!
Anyways I'm pretty mad now, so I'll move to the subject..
I have Service Pack 3 Windows XP in my computer, and I did roll back on the Media Player 0 from the I had, using the instructions from a previous post. The truth is that it rolled back with less steps than it showed, and I say that because it mentions in a step that in the add-remove programms, in the Windows XP-Software Updates section, I should find a Windows Media player thing which really doesnt exist and I suspect it's the Service Pack 3 because I have done the same in a SP2 and worked exactly as the steps said..Anyway the fact is I have Windows Media Player 0 now!!!
Please someone tell why can't I upgrade my firmware... I can't deal with this anymore!!!!

Why isn't this player working?I've seen many people, not only from here, who have the same exact problem and they gave up on their mp3... I dont have this kind of luxury to buy a new one!!I don't know whether Creative has put on this a "time bomb" or is just faulty, but I really wish it could be saved..
I'm saying it is WMP0 because the firmware file sees the player. The computer can recognize it but with WMP components that firmware file would be grayed-out..So when you reloaded the firmware did you choose "reload firmware" Before you connected it's?(That is what erases the firmware prior to uploading the firmware. If you did not do that it could cause it to fail.Do these ste

  • Zen Vision 30GB Firmware Problem - No solution wo

I have a Zen Vision 30GB (not a Zen Vision M or W, just a Zen Vision). On Friday I was trying to add songs to my Zen and halfway through adding the songs I got an error on the computer saying "player not connected". So I undocked the player, turned it off and reset my computer. Saturday morning I turned on my Zen to try to add songs again and I got the error message on my Zen?"Firmware Problem" and it put me in "Recovery Mode". The first thing I did was try to reload the firmware, but when I plugged the Zen to the computer it says "docked", but I cannot move through the menu. When I unhook it from the computer I can move through the menu. BTW I am running Windows Vista 32-bit. I have uninstalled the Zen software and installed the software off the Creative website for Vista, but when I try to run the firmware it says "Player not connected, please connect player."? When I plug the player in via USB my computer recognizes it and prompts me if I want to sync my player, so there isn't anything wrong with my USB connection. The?Device Manager recognizes it however Windows Media Player does not. I get the same error message when I try to do the Recovery Tool on the Creative website. I have looked for solutions on the forums and just doing Google searches, but I have not been able to get anything to work. Please help me!? The player is less than a year old. I have never had any problems with it before, never been dropped or anything like that, so i am not sure what is going on. Any help or suggestions would be great!? I sent an email to customer support yesterday and the reply I received this morning was no help. First they thought I had the Zen Vision M, even though I specifically said I had the Zen Vision and gave them the serial number and everything. I sent them back a message today and hopefully they can help, but it is frustrating having to send an email and wait around for a reply.

Re: Zen Vision 30GB Firmware Problem - No solution works\ I recently had this problem with a player i got off Ebay. What I did was format>cleanup>reboot the device thru the recovery screen on the the player. Problem solved . Be advised this will erase all the files (music ect.) http://forums.creative.com/creativel...ap&thread.id=3

I ended up giving up a while ago and bought a microsoft zune. It is not as good and i miss my zen. If anyone can give me some info it would be much appreciated.

  • CRS Install hostname being used by more than once for the same node.

Hi, we're installing The Oracle Clusterware and on the Cluster Configuration screen of the universal Installer (the one were you specify the clustername and clusternodes) we get the following error message in a dialog box when the next button is clicked:
"You must enter unique values for the public node name, the private node name and the virtual hostname for all nodes in the cluster. The name, node1, that you entered is being used by more than once for the same node."
Has anyone experienced this error message before and know what the cause is?
Could it be a problem with the /etc/hosts file?
    Thanks in advance,
    M

Make sure you allocate separate IP addresses on your network for the VIP addresses on each RAC node (this is not the same as the machine IP already configured on the OS).
Also, the installer may complain if your private and public IPs are configured under the same subnet.
Finally, as mentioned before, check that name resolution for all the IPs to be used. On all RAC nodes, your /etc/hosts file should be configured with:
    - public name and IP addresses of ALL nodes
    - private name and IP addresses of ALL nodes
    - VIP name and IP addresses of ALL nodes
    Hope that helps

  • Internal iSight no longer available - firmware problem?

    Hi,
my iMac 17" Core2Duo (intel integrated graphics) is no longer able to recognize its built-in iSight.
    Symptoms:
The iSight is no longer shown in System Profiler as "Built-in iSight" with manufacturer "Micron", product ID 0x8501 and vendor ID 0x05ac, but as having Vendor ID 0x04b4 und Device ID 0x8613.
According to various USB device listings, this corresponds to a "CY7C68013 EZ-USB FX2 USB 2.0 Development Kit".
This, again, is a generic USB controller, which obtains its final USB vendor und device ID by writing firmware into the controller's EEPROM - obviously the base for the iSight USB controller. This firmware information seems to be lost now (the iSight worked as of last week).
    I already tried unsuccessfully:
    - PRAM reset
    - SMC reset
    - iSight driver upgrade from Bootcamp 1.1.1
So, essentially, what would be required is a tool to reprogram the firmware (such tools exist on Windows XP and Linux) and the iSight firmware image itself. I also downloaded the Firmware Restoration CD (V1.1), but this CD doesn't seem to support the Core2Duo-based iMacs yet.
Any ideas? I'd hate to send the iMac back to Apple for repair if a simple software solution could fix the problem.
    iMac 17" Core2Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Just a short blurb to inform you that I managed to restore the iSight's firmware. It's quite a bit complicated, my current solution involves using Linux and a modified version of the firmware download tool for the iSight Linux driver. I'm not sure if anyone else has had this problem so far. So, if you're interested in the precise steps involved, drop me a mail (or, if you happen to speak German, see http://www.macuser.de/forum/showthread.php?t=203758).

  • How do I copy artwork to iPod just once for an album, not for every track?

I don't download music. All my music is ripped from CDs that I own.
After I rip a CD, choosing "Get Album Artwork" from the Advanced menu normally works, and if not, I find the highest quality image I can from the web, and copy & paste that into the large box at the bottom left of iTunes.
It appears that iTunes stores the artwork image once for each track, not once for an album, so for example if an album has 10 tracks, the image is stored 10 times somewhere on my hard drive. This is inefficient, but not problematic.
However, when I (manually) select & drag-copy the resulting 10 tracks to my iPod, the artwork doesn't transfer along with the tracks. I then have to copy the artwork & having selected all the tracks on the iPod, paste it in. I have the "Manually manage music and videos" option selected, as I simply don't trust the automatic system. I want to supervise what is copied, when, and in what way. I don't necessarily want everything in my iTunes library on my iPod.
What concerns me is that for each album, the artwork image is stored repeatedly for each track on the iPod, like on my hard drive, not once for an album. As space will be at a premium on the iPod once I start copying more & more of my CDs across (I have only done 9 so far) the point will come where a large number of MB of space will be wasted on the iPod with duplicate artwork, which will mean that I'll be able to fit far fewer CDs on the iPod than would otherwise have been the case. The fact that I have chosen 192 kbps and the AAC Encoder for all my CD ripping also means that the iPod will fill up faster than if I'd used the standard 128 kbps and MP3 settings. I'm not prepared to go below 192 kbps though. My soon to be purchased Sennheiser CX500 earphones deserve that much!
Is there any way to force iTunes and the iPod to store the artwork only once for each album, and if there is, can this method be retrofitted to the CDs I've already copied to my iPod, or do I have to start again from scratch? I've already filled 670 MB with the 9 CDs, many of which are only 40 or 45 minutes long, so I'm already getting worried!
Alternatively, am I simply mistaken about all this? Does it only *look like* the artwork is duplicated, whereas it's actually only being stored only once?
    Many thanks.

    In reply to PT:
Why don't you paste the artwork to the track in iTunes first (fast) THEN send them over to your iPod?
I already do that. Every track has the correct artwork in place before I copy it to the iPod.
I ripped about another 10 albums yesterday. Most of the albums got their artwork automatically from the iTunes store. For a few I had to get artwork from the internet.
When I rip a CD, one of 3 different things happens:
    1. The album get its artwork automatically from the iTunes store, and then when I shift-click all the tracks and drag them to the iPod icon, all the artwork transfers along with the tracks.
    2. As per 1, except the artwork doesn't transfer when I copy the tracks to the iPod. I then copy the artwork from one of the tracks on the Mac, then shift-click all the equivalent tracks on the iPod, and right-click in the large box at the bottom left of the screen, and click on paste.
    3. The iTunes store has no artwork for the album, so I copy the artwork from an image on the internet, shift-click all the tracks on the Mac, and right-click in the large box at the bottom left of the screen, and click on paste. I then shift-click all the tracks and drag them to the iPod icon. They all copy across, but the artwork never does, so I then shift-click all the tracks on the iPod and right-click in the large box at the bottom left of the screen, and click on paste.
Pasting the artwork to the tracks, in either scenario 2 or 3 above, takes ages (often longer than copying the tracks themselves) and a progress bar appears, listing each track in order as the artwork is added to the track, accompanied by the spinning beach ball. The slowness is mostly down to using USB 1.1, but for a 20 track album, it appears that the iPod is storing the artwork 20 times, once for each track, not just once in total (for the album).
It appears that in scenario 1 though, the iPod is only storing the artwork once.
    In reply to Landon Dial:
well first you go to one track, right click and press get info. you go to where it says artwork, right click the image and press copy, then you exiit out of that. then you can press ctrl and select each song you want to have that artwork. if there highlighted then its working. then right click again and press get info. then go to artwork and press paste and it should have copied the image to all of your tracks
Thanks for your input, but you've completely misunderstood my question. I know how to add artwork to tracks. What I'm trying to figure out is how to force iTunes/the iPod to only store artwork once for each album, not once for each track, even if the artwork comes manually from me finding it on the internet, not automatically via the iTunes store.
    In reply to Chris CA:
When iTunes gets the artwork, there is only one copy on your computer.
That single artwork is linked with iTunes to each song on the same album.
When you add artwork yourself, it is copied directly into the ID3 artwork tag for each song. If you have a 200kB artwork file, each song will be 200kB larger.
From what you say it sounds like there's no way to force the issue then. If you have to paste in artwork yourself, then it's one copy per track, not one per album. A serious flaw which I hope Apple will address!
Using playlists is very easy to manage what goes onto your iPod.
That's true, but I don't really have any need for playlists. I want 95% of what's in my iTunes library copied across (complete albums, with artwork). It's the remaining 5% (the odd individual track, amusing audio files, and other odds & sods) that I don't want copied. Copying things manually suits me fine, and I wouldn't consider another method unless it solved the problem that this topic is about!

  • Bug in new firmware 7.0 for 6300 cannot create per...

There is bug in new firmware 7.0 for nokia 6300 and maybe all 40 series.
I am not able to create access point which is necessary to access internet with java applications.
When I go Settings -> Configuration -> Personal config.sett. -> Add -> Access point (but also if I choose any other from list)
Then i go back and there is no new access point. In previous version of firmware it created access point.
Do anyone know about this issue ?
How can I tell to Nokia support that there is this bug ?
    thanx for replies

I went to local Nokia service, and they told me that probably it was wrongly flashed. So I reinstalled firmware two more time, but it always have the same problem. Is there someone with 6300 that have the newest firmware and can test this ?
    thank you

Can anyone help me with this issue. I get the message firmware problem after I turn my player on and it tries to rebuild the libraries. I have tried to update the OS in the hope this would fix it but I got the same error. As you may have guessed I am new to this and have only had the player for month.

  • Inbound interface found more than once for outbound interface

    Hello everybody,
    i have a simple problem.
    I build a interface with XI3.0
    File to idoc
for each file i need crate 2 idoc.
It's not a problem when Idoc type is different, but in my case i need crate 2 idoc of same type but with a different mapping.
so when i upload the file i have this error:
Inbound interface found more than once for outbound interface
how can i solve this problem? can i force this step?
i thought to create a different idoc type or create the 2 idoc in same mapping , but there is not my favourite solution because in case of error , both idoc will be not created.
    any suggestion?
    thanks in advance
    alex

    Hi,
Instead of exporting and changing the occurrence as suggested by Ravi,
use the same Idoc twice in mapping as well as Interface mapping.
Coming to ID part, do every thing as usual.
The only thing to note is instead of using normal Interface determination, use extended Interface Determination.
This will solve your problem. The error will not come again. I'm sure.
Try out and update the thread.
