Firmware/Recovery Tool Probl

Hi,
Whenever I turn on the player I get a 'Firmware Problem' message. The player then freezes and will not turn off until the battery runs out. My PC does not recognize that the player is connected and I have downloaded the recovery tool but it will not run. It gets a 'Runtime Error 429 Acti'veX cannot create object error' and then the program crashes.
Oh, and I have tried several times to send this through the tech support email form but it won't work for me either.

Hi,
Still no luck. It's rolled it back to WM version 9 as I had never installed 0. The firmware updater still does not recognise that it is connected and the recovery tool still crashes.
Step 5 of the instructions you gave me (Click Microsoft User-Mode Driver Framework Feature Pack .0.0, and then click Remove.) wasn't in the Add/Remove programs list.

    I may have already asked this question but maybe not in this way. After reading through a lot of resources and articles I have read Microsoft is suggesting everyone running the 8.1 developer preview downgrade to the commercial 8.0 firmware using the recovery tool. ( due to an issue with bitlocker,,, which I am NOT running on my phone) After looking at the firmware versions the firmware on the recovery tool is the exact same firmware already running on my phone. Is there a difference between the developer preview firmware and the firmware listed on the recovery too even though the firmware version number is the same. I really dislike resetting my phone, due to almost 6 gigs of information,, games/apps on my SD card. I know I can back up my phone which I have done several times in the last few days trying figure out if I really need to reset my phone or just wait for the cyan update an d see if it installs correctly...,,, any who thanks in advance for any replies, suggestions or comments.     Many users who were already running the WP8.1 developer preview have received the cyan update and the process went on normally.
    The problem only exists for the enterprise users who make use of bitlocker and AFAIK, general consumers are unaffected. You should be able to update normally.

    I've had my Zen Vision:M 30GB for over a year now, and I absolutely love it! Unfortunately, while on my New Years vacation this past week I accidentally dropped it after it tangled in my headphones. Immediately afterwards, I started getting the "recovery mode" problem that seems to crop up. Unable to get past this(it booted only once every million-or-so tries), I decided to use the "MP3 recovery tool" from Creative's site
    Unfortunately, it froze up halfway through, and now is giving me a "Hard Disk error". I tried to reformat, and it seemed to wipe it clean...but now it wont even recognize it when I plug it into my USB port to put in new firmware! (The PC recognizes it, but not the Firmware installation)
    I don't know what else I can do....any ideas/help, please?
    (I looked at Creative's support pages, but they only deal with Warranty repairs, which I don't have as it was a gift.) Can they repair/replace a broken non-warranty player, and if so, for how much?
    Or is there another solution I haven't tried yet?
    Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

    My Zen 4GB cannot be turned on anymore after a failed firmware upgrade (The installation hung up). I tried to run the firmware upgrade executable file again but the player must be on. So I tried to hardware reset by switching the power slide on while pressing the play button, but it still doesn't start. I downloaded and ran the Recovery Tool while the player was connected, but an error message appeared: "ERROR: You have more than one Creative players connected. Please remove all but one, click "OK" to exit and then run this program again." - There was no other players connected but the ZEN. Please help... What can I do

    I have this very exact same problem with the same model. Did you ever find a solution to this?

  • Software Recovery Tool Odd Result with Lumia 620

    Good Afternoon,
    One of our users bought his Lumia 620 to me earlier, it had hung apparently. He removed/re-inserted the battery and since then the screen just shows Nokia on powerup and nothing else happens.
    I tried all the usual soft reset/hard reset/spinning in my chair whilst praying to the great Finnish gods of telecommunication etc. All to no avail.
    I then downloaded the Software recovery tool (V1.4.3) and installed it, this again would not see the phone. I followed the instructions and then it picked it up.
    According to the recovery tool, it found the right hardware revision for the phone and suggested the correct country version of firmware (3056.4000.1404.0004). Happy days.
    I told it to go and do it's thing, upon which it downloaded the 1.37GB of firmware and flashed it to the phone.
    At this point the recovery tool, was waiting for the phone to reset asking for a pin for 180 seconds. At this point it timed out. The phone itself just sat there looking at me blankly and then reset itself.
    The phone itself re-booted and now has a screen with 3 red wavy lines and the word TIM on it. (see attached pic)
    So my questions are......
    1. Have I done something worng?
    2. If I haven't, then does anyone have an idea what has happened?

    Thanks to Abi99 and scoobyman for the replies and pointing me in the right direction.
    It seems that the failing phone is indeed an Italian phone that I have been sold as a UK variant (thanks Amazon)
    The product code for the UK one's I have is 059R4G7. The faulty phone begins 059S... (i'm at a different office today so don't have the full code) . Interestingly the firmware for the Lumia 620 TIM Italian version is the same number as the UK country variant hence my confusion.
    So the software recovery tool is actually updating correctly with the TIM softwaredependant on the model number. So it's just that the phone is actually broken (written off to experience). I'll be more careful checking the ones I receive in the future.
    As an aside I, it would be nice if the software recovery tool could allow you to choose which firmware to load. However I realise this opens a massive can of worms and is unlikely.

    The company does not support the end-user changing software variants, and so your wishes are unlikely to be granted. Your screenshot shows a version of the software intended for retail use only, and as it is a non-commercial package, ease of use is a low consideration.

  • Recovery Tool - problem connecting to service

    I'm trying to roll back my phone from DP, so I can get the cyan update.
    Nokia Software Recovery Tool (1.4.3) seems to get the download (I've occasionally seen the progress bar), but I repeatedly, but not consistently, get the error - "A network problem has occurred".
    Any ideas what's going on?  Anyone seen this before?

    In the Nokia Software Recovery Tool, what is your 7-letter code (Nokia Product Code)? That code determines your firmware variant which determines your current version. We can check together whether you have the correct variant, only with that code.

    When I use my recovery tool, it detects the player. But when it begins to download the firmware update, it say it's not connected. I've changed the registry permissions, rolled back wmp and un/reinstalled all creative software. Someone out there has to have the skills to figure this out?

    Device manager will detect it but no program will? So the problem is between the usb and the programs...right?

    I tried using the recovery tool for mp3 players and it fried my Microphoto 8gig!!!
    It was checking and uploading the firmware and it locked up.. not my comp locked up, but the Creative Recovery thing. I left it for a while and now my zen's hardware is all messed up. I try to turn it on and it says "Hardware Problem" Solution: plug it in and reload firmware.. I CANT! it wont connect and wont even go into recovery mode so i can format the firmware and restart..
    Im lost.. I cant connect to fix anything and the Creative Support Site wont stay up and running [it closes automatically before i get anywhere].. Plz help..

    i want to reinstall the 8.71 version of my nokia c3-00, so i need to install the 'nokia sofyware recovery tool' app. i downloaded the latest version 5.0.0 on my pc, but when i want to install it, it takes a so much long time on a same point, it seems to checking the c++ or something, it stuck on the same place and wont get to install, what should i do to install it, and the important question, can i REALLY install the same version of my phone firmware using this tool ?

    the first problem is that I CAN NOT INSTALL the nokia recovery tool
    the second problem is that, i just updated nokia suite to to 3.8, but there is no RE-INSTALL in software update part, my new question is that should i signed in, in the nokia suite to be able to re-install or it's not necessary ? because i can't sign in, in nokia suite.

    ..my MicroPhoto, gives me its model number and everything. But when it automatically runs the firmware upgrade it says the player isnt connected. Any ideas?Fully updated Windows SP2. Device Manager sees 'Creative Zen Microphoto' and i've tried it on the downstairs computer AND the laptop, i've formatted, cleaned up and erased the firmware when it connected with the recovery tool.. now its really gone :S?Any help would be really greatly appreciated! thanks

    Hi! I've had my Creative ZEN32gb for about a month, and now the player freezes every time I press play, so I can't listen to anything. It "un-freezes" when I connect it to my computer, but I can't bring that with me everywhere.
    So I downloaded the mp3-player recovery tool to see if that helps (I use windows XP) and it detects my mp3-player, but then when it says that it's downloading the latest firmware, the program freezes, and I get this message:
    Automated firmware update and/or formatting for CL MP3 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. "send error report" "don't send"
    Does anyone know what the reason could be?

    If the firmware revision is the place it says "version", it's .2.0e. Should it be something else?
    My player has worked just fine after I?rebooted and all that
    Edit: well, actually, just a minute ago I tried to connect it to the computer, and it didn't respond. And when I tried to turn it on that didn't work either, so I rebooted it again, and then it was fine. But I hope I won't have to do it again often.
